Pine

For my nose, which doesn't often do well with Stora Skuggans: a very fine pine indeed. Stark and minimalist - no red fruits a la Fille en Aiguilles, not much truffly forest floor or incense a la Norne, and despite a fair dose of sweetness, none of the caramelised syrup of Olympic Orchids Woodcut. Because I'm less sophisticated than many reviewers below, the synthetic fixatives don't ruin it for me - it's just reallly piney for a reallly long time. So straightforward and basic it's arguably Not A Perfume At All, just pure pine essence - so it depends if that's a problem for you. For me absolutely not - a great smell that sticks and lasts, even if you may feel it's just a big old chunk of resin or a slosh of some more rugged product than a very highly-priced niche perfume. I quibble the cost but can't argue with its chunky, no-frills charisma. A big dumb Viking that knows how to get the job done - despite the fact that its initial muscle soon softens, it's durable for days on fabric and the drydown is mellower and less crashy than the start, at least on me.

My journey to find the perfect pine fragrance has led to many recommending this beauty, and I can see why. This is a gorgeous perfume, with one note only, yet holds so much depth and so many avenues to explore. The pine itself is obviously very green and woody, with soft earthy facets as you might expect. But it’s also slightly sweet, yet sharp and metallic, a little sour, blanketed by a gentle spiciness. As mentioned, there’s a lot going on; don’t mistake the simple note breakdown with a simple smell. I really enjoy this actually. When I first applied it I wasn’t so sure, but now it’s settled, I think I love it. I will keep my eye out for a bottle but, for now, my all time favourite pine fragrance remains as Caron’s Yatagan.

This woody fragrance is much deeper and heavier than I expected. Since only the 'pine' note was officially disclosed, I was intrigued even before smelling it. While people usually think of the refreshing scent of pine needles, this perfume feels like it captures the very trunk and roots of the pine tree, along with the surrounding soil and stones. Aside from the pine, the woody and earthy qualities of patchouli, cypriol, and resins come through in a way that isn't artificial at all—it smells incredibly realistic. I think it’s perfect for autumn and winter. The longevity and sillage are also above average, leaving me highly satisfied

Fresh mountain dirt, warm sunshine on crunchy bark, dry dusty pine pollen floating in the air on a crisp blue day. Like pressing your nose into the dry floor of a pine forest. Opens very bright and sharp like snapping fresh pine needles, but this is not a green scent, it's definitely brown. It quickly settles into a much earthier, mulchier, dirty base. You'll smell like you were just on a long warm hike in the Alps. If you want a sharper, green, true pine needle scent I'd suggest Cathedral Grove by Bathing Culture or Chronic by 19-69.

warm, summery scent. masculine, but definitely on the sweet side, like hot pine sap. the "pine pine pine pine pine pine" on the list of ingredients seems like more of a typical swedish hipster joke than to accurately describe it, because there's definitely other notes here. on the verge of being a little commercial, but just weird enough not to be. could easily be worn by women too. this is yet another perfume trying to mimic pine, but it's not a full hit. i'd still say this is a 8/10 mens scent. i want something weirder.
