Aquarian Rose

Hmmm so in contrast to other reviews I actually like this one. As with many perfumes from this house, the opening is difficult. Once you get past the first few minutes, it becomes a nice aquatic rose. Fragrantica doesn't list the orange note, but it's definitely there in the background. The marjoram gives a nice minty herbal quality that makes this rose unique. The sandalwood lends warmth and keeps the perfume feeling like a cool ocean breeze on a warm day.

The combination of marjoram and rose here is quite lovely. It's a cool, crisp rose with a bracing herbal base bathed in saltwater: an underwater garden of a fragrance. I'm trying to pinpoint what makes this so polarizing, and I'm admittedly failing. While not conventional, it's well within the normal confines of natural perfumery. I suppose it's a bit medicinal and a bit rough, but not unpleasantly so.

Okay... it's not bad. The opening is purely terrible but it dries down to an unrealistic aquatic rose. The marjoram is cool, though. Overall a dislike. Overrated imho

Strange how invisible all of these perfumes are. Glad I only sampled these and didn't invest in a bottle. The whole line is a huge disappointment! I wear naturals all the time, my collection is mostly natural. I know naturals tend to be weaker than synthetic fragrances but these are so weak that it doesn't justify the huge price tag. All of them are like herbal water. Nothing special. Do not bother to sample even that is a waste of $$$

A disclaimer: I tested this line in the store both on testing strips as well as on skin (for some of them), but because I don’t have samples to study in more detail, this is more of a snapshot than a fully fledged analytical review. I usually spend quite a bit more time with scents before I cobble together my thoughts, so do with it what you will. Pretty much does what it says on tin. This is a vivid, articulate rose—one that seems to be based on an extremely high-quality material, but one that would ordinarily read as bitter and stemmy. This scent has been given a fully-fledged rose headspace, meaning that the more damascone-type effect that people associate with rose has been considered. It’s slightly sweetened up top by some orange and (what I believe to be) another floral note altogether—a white floral, it seems. I didn’t wear this, only smelled it on the blotter enough to get good sense of what it’s doing. And it’s really just doing rose, albeit well. You’re paying for the hydro-distilled rose here—a material that costs upwards of $50 per ml. While sandalwood isn’t cheap either, it’s not immediately noticeable in this composition, and I didn’t give it a chance to reveal itself fully. For as much as I'd like to congratulate its rosy accomplishments, I simply can't see why a person looking for a good, vivid rose wouldn't look elsewhere and find comparable quality for a fraction of the price.

Now THIS one I like! Up until this point I've been really disappointed with this brand. Some hope has been restored. This is a cool crisp and beautiful rose perfume. I even detect something a bit minty. It's quite gorgeous. It's a light airy rose that feels very real and even a bit "stemmy". The marjoram is subtle but gives this a lovely tinge of greenery which stops it being a regular powdery rose we've smelled a million times before. It feels contemporary and I like that a lot! It's got a nice amount of throw too whereas everything else I've smelled before this has disappeared within about 10 minutes. Completely unisex and a glorious take on roses. Like I said..this feels very real, crisp natural tones that roses have have been captured here. The aquatic tones just compliment everything perfectly too. Having said all of that, I still wouldn't spent the huge amount this company charges for their perfumes.

not sure i feel as strongly as wiegley does about this scent - but i only bought a 0.5ml decant for a few bucks. i do not find the drydown to be problematic - but i do find it to be rather generic. i won't mark it as "dislike" but i won't mark it as "like" either. it just kind of is what it is. there are dozens of vastly superior rose juices on the market, so being unable to differentiate your juice is about the same as not bothering to produce it in the first place. ymmv, of course.

I spent an absolute fortune on this ($250 or so) and regretted it immediately. While it smells great in the bottle, the drydown is very medicinal and gave me a nauseating headache. The store does not allow returns so I'm stuck with it. Sigh!
