Prima Ballerina

It's an interesting take on rose. In the opening, I get the LIME with a backup singer of rose. After it warms up I get the sage on my skin but the sillage is still mostly lime. The rose is in the background singing softly while the sage/lime dance around more energetically. I never smelled the musk. This is a very unique and different combination of notes. It's interesting and worth testing out. I, like the other reviewers, will not buy a full bottle. It is one of those scents everyone should sniff for the experience, but not necessarily wear daily. Edit: Because of how unique this is I find myself coming back to it again and again. I think I actually will look in to a FB. I've used up two samples.

From beginning to end this scent is basically about rose. At first the rose is accompanied by a nose-prickling lime or lime leaf and by an herbal note (presumably the sage), getting the whole composition off to a rousing, slightly metallic start. Like Musc Botanique, this fragrance has a good bit of ambrette in the base, and the combination of ambrette and rose is lovely. After the top notes are gone the rose-ambrette mix stays close to the body as a skin scent. I like this fragrance enough to eventually finish up my generous sample, but would not feel compelled to buy a FB even if I could afford it.

This is a prima ballerina, rose oil-embued "Giselle": vulnerable, but compelling all the same. Its naivety(or should I say 'soliflore' character?) annoys me, as it does in Giselle's case, and I don't believe I'm entranced enough to choose it as my principal role for the season.

Definitely not a soliflore, but rose is definitely the strongest note throughout. The hydro-distilled rose SIP uses is extremely high quality, I don't think I've ever smelled a more realistic rose perfume. The sage and lime combo makes this a very unusual take on rose - herbal verging on metallic, very much leaning into the vintage vibe. I think this is a must-try for rose lovers. By far the most feminine fragrance from this house, it evokes innocent and sweet youth. The musk base is ambrette, almost a signature note for SIP. As with pretty much all perfumes from Strange Invisible, projection is low; I happen to like this quality, but if you're after something people can smell across the room this one will disappoint.

This smells like a much weaker version of Hiram Green's Lustre fragrance. If you like a clean citrus rose and want it to be all natural try Lustre instead.

Without looking at the notes I woulden't of been able to describe what this smells like... but lets just stick with bad.

Oooh really not a fan of this. Now don't get me wrong. I'm a lover of rose. I do however like more modern takes on it. This has a more dated feel during dry down. This is a weird curdled mix of lime and rose that really clashes in the opening. Add in some sage and you have three notes that don't mesh all vying for attention. It's bizarre. The lime and sage dominate first, which I think would be quite a cool combo if not for the very apparent bouquet of roses trying to punch through. A positive of this is how beautiful the quality of rose oil is that's being used. It's a real natural, sweet powdery rose that comes forward even more after about 5 minutes. THIS the stage I'm not too fond of as it starts to be all about rose. As someone else mentioned..it's like a soliflore. It smells like many old rose scented products like soap..and air freshener. The drydown sees the musk come out a bit more and pair together with the rose to create a simple..but verging on boring rose perfume. The third perfume by this company I have not really liked. For a rose lover though? You'd probably be in heaven. :(
