Lost In Flowers Oil

I was so entranced by effusive reviews that I blind bought the 1.25 ml Lost in Flowers oil at Luckyscent. As soon as I received the package, late in the evening, I immediately opened it and applied the tiniest amount to one wrist. I think was my very first time ever smelling champaca, and my only frame of reference was extremely pungent fresh green banana, which I found overwhelming at first. As the pure parfum oil warmed on my wrist, I began to notice the marigold and other hay-like accords (coumarin?), which had a dusty, almost smoky feel. Then the muguet (lily-of-the-valley) came up and I found the note extremely challenging. The next day, I decided to shower and start over with clean skin, which ended up being exactly what I needed. Immediately upon applying, the gardenia enfleurage intertwines and blooms along with the champaca and jasmine. The muguet or lily of the valley no longer bothers me, and I can't seem to pick it out of the composition any longer. The image of a juicy, fresh, photorealistic bouquet does not even begin to describe the incredibly gorgeous and impeccably composed bouquet. The tagetes (marigold) and saffron are true middle notes and seamless in the composition, and the faintest basenotes of rich, balsamic oud waft and carry along the entire gorgeous bouquet. I don't detect any decay or rot that other reviewers have mentioned, just incredibly creamy and fresh tropical flowers and greenery with the faintest suggestion of middle and basenotes anchoring the composition. As others have described, experiencing this incredible composition feels like sitting in a magnificent tropical garden or the sweet humidity of the greenhouse tropical display at the botanic gardens. I imagine that perhaps this might be what the bride experiences at the most opulent wedding of all time, anointed with the finest oudh oils and almost floating down the aisle flanked by enormous, towering floral displays everywhere you look. Of course, she carries the most intricate and fragrant bouquet that took a whole team of florists working all night in a chilly walk-in cooler to create and preserve for the wedding ceremony of the century. Creamy gardenias, buttery champaca, delicate jasmine all come together to create a mouthwatering fragrance of Paradise herself. And yet, as a man interested in fragrance, I can appreciate how florals have been traditionally used in women's perfume, and yet this is not a traditionally "femme" fragrance. Rather, I dare say that Lost In Flowers can easily be worn by anyone of any gender who loves lush tropical florals, fresh greenery, and oud. Surrounded by this incredible gift of flowers at every moment of the day is incredibly soothing and relaxing. It literally brings a tear to my eye when I smell it, that's how intense and gorgeous this fragrance is. Wearing it feels like having journeyed through the desert and entering a walled city, and finding the most incredible tropical oasis. As you are received in paradise, surrounded by extravagant tropical gardens, you are fêted with overflowing honeyed bouquets that you gratefully take into your arms, crowns and garlands of the utmost beauty being nestled on your head, arms, neck, and wrists. This composition is simply stunning in absolutely every way. In the incredibly trying times lately (January 2026, USA) being enveloped in this composition feels like a sacred refuge and much-needed respite. I have been at this for over 25 years with discovering and learning about fragrance, and I can say that Christophe Laudamiel is a genius. I never thought that I would find something that I liked as much as À La Nuit by Christopher Sheldrake for Serge Lutens, and Songes by Isabelle Doyen for Annick Goutal. Despite wearing this for weeks, there is barely a dent in my miniature 1.25 ml bottle. At this rate, I cannot imagine how long a 10ml bottle of the oil would last, or a full 50ml or 100ml bottle of the eau de parfum. As much as I love the oil, I think my next purchase might be a full bottle of the EdP, which other reviewers have said lasts even longer than the oil.

I get more oud here than from the EDP, and it's richer of course, but overall there's not a great deal of difference between the two, which is fine by me because LIF is one of my all-time favourite masterpieces of perfumery.
