À La Folie

Wandering in the madness days and nights savoring the aromas of French pastries, desserts and cafe to the mysterious radiance colourful night lights of majestic historic Paris. A delicious madness sweet gourmand scent with the combination of French pastries, dessert and warm amber night lights with caramelized custardy Canelé, nutty sweet Macarons, the warmth of amber and of course hint of tobacco in the air. À la folie is reminiscent of the Parisian characters that roam the city of lights. Sparkling, addicting, and extremely romantic. A la folie Fragrance Notes Amber, Vanilla, Heliotrope, Black Tea, Macarons, Gaiacwood, Tonka Bean, Orange Blossom, Patchouli, Tobacco, Canelé, Rose, Lavender, Hazelnut, Affogato, and Crème Brûlée. My opinion is that it is exactly as described and interpreted. It truly is everything it says.

This is definitely a woody tobacco heavy scent but the heliotrope and macarons here add an almond cherry sweetness. The vanilla and crème brulee is pretty prominent too which adds a burnt gourmand type of note. I would say this leans more masc/unisex than fem so I liked this more for my boyfriend than myself, but it’s definitely a unique gourmand that’s perfect for the winter.

Nice ambery vanilla tonka tobacco combo. Very dessert-licious and not overly strong. Easy to use and, being in a small bottle, very pocketable. Not projecting much means only someone close can enjoy the fact that you smell so mouthwatering after applying this. Over six hrs on skin and well over twenty four hrs on clothing while still very delectable.

Cherry- vanilla pipe tobacco, sweet ambery resins with a hint of lavender-patchouli in the background. This is sweet but not 100% gourmand- I don’t immediately think of macarons or crème brûlée. To me, this smells exactly like an unburned stick of Dragon’s Blood incense and the color red. 🪭🐉

the florals pack a strong punch but it melds into this woody rich tobacco with wafts of a creamy (slightly fruity) vanilla. It reminds me so much of like sitting with a rich auntie at a holiday party and being enveloped in a mix of warm sweet perfume and cigarette smoke from her coat

For me, this is ice cream on a warm and nutty cake. Love the balance between the vanilla and tobacco, but find the dry down to be sickly sweet. Very realistic gourmand overall.

At the risk of sounding like a perfume snob, the first thought that entered my head when I sampled A La Folie is "JUVENILE." Yup...that was my thought. "This perfume smells juvenile and marketed for kids." "A La Folie," ie: Into The Madness. Well, at least the perfumers got the name right. This perfume reminds me of an inexpensive, poorly blended, disorganized mish-mash fragrance one might purchase from a Big Box Store and gift to a teen, or a college student. If one is looking for a good example of a poorly formulated, poorly executed, ridiculously combined "niche" fragrance, A La Folie would be the ticket. To me, the fragrance is very poorly executed, very poorly mixed. The ingredients smell low quality. There's amber, there is lavender. There is vanilla. I assume there's some rose. And there is tobacco. On my skin, I detect lots and lots and lots of pipe-tobacco, especially in the dry-down. All this 'n that about floral notes and hazelnuts, tonka bean and macarons. Black tea and cinnamon. I feel these notes are thrown around for the "hype" and for mass marketing. A La Folie is by no means a complex fragrance. The development is linear and essentially complete within the first 5-10 minutes of wear. All-in-all, the fragrance falls flat and lands as a powdery, dry lavender, pipe-tobacco concoction. The base notes make the fragrance lean masculine, IMHO. A strong pass...

Stale pipe tobacco and chocolate and vanilla, cookies, dried old lavender that has lost all it's scent. All stale. They have gone bad. This is truly garbage. This fragrance is why I hate Niche brands so often.

As I've moved into my twenties, I've shifted away from the gourmand scents I so adored when I was younger. However, I decided to give a few a try when choosing scent samples, and I ended up truly enjoying Á La Folie. It is a warm scent that is not overly sugary or syrupy at all. The vision of the perfumer comes through clearly; I imagine lovers and friends alike nestled in a little hole-in-the-wall cafe, bathed in candlelight as they enjoy homemade pastries 💗

I feel like there is so much going on in this that I can’t seem to pick out a single note. Without looking at the notes I would describe this as minty and sweet, like an After Eight mint but mint and chocolate aren’t even notes listed!

I’m bummed that I’m not getting any of the notes people are experiencing because whatever aromachemical(s) they are using in this makes it sure I can smell nothing else but that.
