Strangers - Gheorghe Strangers as a line are fragrances one that is quite hit or miss for my taste and seems to be the case for a few others, but Gheorghe seems like a hit for me so far, The scent is based on a movie (god's own country) and envokes the environment and scenes from said film, I won't go too far into detail due to me not watching it but think of the countryside in Yorkshire and you're a farmer. Gheorghe opens up with a rich peat note it has both a touch of dryness and moisture and a deep earthiness softened but sweet grassy hay and undying and not overt booziness, frankly a lot going on and rather quickly but manages to keep itself clear and not a massive mud wall of scent. A slow shift to blooming flowers and a slightly though brief to me tobacco occurs the hay note from earlier is still present though faint at this point, also to note the florals arnt clean and pretty but have a dirtiness to them keeping it interesting and gritty add in a touch of spice to round it out, the floral I pick up is narcissus though that's just me personally. what I find most interesting is this scent doesn't feel heavy to me it has that airy quality to it despite the dark and broody elements in it which I have to give prin props for as it is far too easy to fall into this rather overdone cliche The extreme dry down is a spiced woodiness

Gheorghe, my first encounter with Strangers Parfumerie, as I delve deeper into the work of Prin Lomros. This is a rather odd scent, not in a bad way, it’s just unlike anything I’ve smelled before - there is so much going on all at once, and yet there is a harmony to it, a smooth balance. This gorgeously sweet note of whiskey kicks things off, made delicious and inviting through the addition of vanilla, tonka and elemi before delving into a dark base. A dense, peaty tobacco emerges which is at once damp and earthy, as it is warm and inviting, with a slight spicy facet from the presence of carnation, clove and woods. All of this rests on a bed of subtle creamy florals, providing that balance. I actually find myself enjoying this quite a lot, it’s far more appealing and easy to like than the other works of Prin I’ve tried - it’s lovely. I’m not sure I’d buy a bottle however, simply because it’s not my usual taste - great creation though.

Opens up elemi forward, with a resinous, somewhat bright, yet somehow dirty from the whiskey sensation, uplifted by the narcissus more than any tobacco here (which I don’t get any tobacco). Unless I’ve gotten an incorrect sample, when considering how all the florals marry into this resinous, bright and lightly dirty profile, it really bears a resemblance to Knize Ten Golden Edition, with some differences that I have previously noted. However, I don’t think this is the case because the projection here is rather poor compared to KTGE and isn’t really a 1-1 match, and in a rather disappointing fashion. Not really characteristic of Prin to make such perfumes but such as fate would have it, the general performance of this frag isn’t really up to par for general use unless you’re looking for something really intimate, perhaps due to sensitivity related issues, then this would work for you. Personally not the biggest fan of the performance of this despite being a similar profile, in which case, was also less unique than expected (assuming I didn’t get a wrong sample).

Muzzbait is correct when they say it smells like hair gel, but I found this only for the first hour. It dried down to tobacco and wood, and then it finally settled into a long amber which was very nice. I won't be buying a FB of this, though. The hair gel scent is too strong for too long. Still, it's OK.

whilst i am not 100% in love with this scent, there is a wonderfully unique accord that is struck here. again, this is transporting me back into my youth, to a time where i was younger, wilder and less restrained. this smells like what hair gel smells like. but, hair gel from a particular vantage point. it's not hair gel from an opened container or anything like that. It smells like what hair gel smells like when it's been in your hair already and you can catch wafts of it throughout the day. it smells like worn wella hair gel about 3 hours in... now, i don't particularly wish to smell like this, really i don't, but, you gotta respect the artistry to be able to create something like this. it's pure art and the point of it is not to make everyone 'like' it, it's to make someone think/feel/remember something. so, even though i don't particularly 'like' it, i feel it. *** EDIT *** About 6 hours in, the magnolia and tobacco really come out to play. It becomes a royal, smooth scent in the middle periods. The booming, buttery white florals blend with the herbal tobacco to create a wonderful accord, and this blends with the soil - narcissus - whiskey accord and becomes something beautiful. Still, totally not what I usually go for, but damn beautiful to smell...

Open - sharp bitter floral, earth, bitterness, peppery, acrid, lemongrass, lavender, soapy, nature. Feedback on open - smells like old lady/ feminine Dry down - soapy/powdery, light floral, lavender, clean linen Further development (around 7 hours in) sweet, chocolaty, soapy/powdery, light floral, old book, musty Verdict - not a bad smelling perfume but just don't think it's for me. Bit older and more for a woman than a mans fragrance. It's a 'serious' woman's fragrance like Chanel No 5 but more complex and probably better smelling.

A complete blind buy after reading the interview with the brand creator here on Fragrantica. I love the concept of honoring LGBTQI characters, I wish more brands would do that in different ways. Gheorghe is beautifully blended. It's so earthy without being bitter or humid. I get some of the tobacco, a bit of whiskey, lots of hay and of course earth. The other notes are there too, backing up the mains. Now I'll have to go watch the film, which has been on my watchlist for a very long time.

I get a light sweet floral incense. Maybe it’s the labdanum or Elemi resin. It’s a lovely little scent. I’ll try it again in spring and update.
