Lava Rose

I’m impressed for once with the note votes and Lucifersans review. I was on the fence about this one but went with a full bottle after trying a sample. A bright plasticky and vinyl synth opening transforms to a leather after 3-5 minutes with a lovely sweetness (for me being very much the lychee) After 10 minutes the leather turns to a patchouli darkness with a green giving the impression of crushed green stem. The brightness that has carried through from the outset of carnation and rose (almost old fashioned hairspray like) plays as a beautiful crushed petal over the darkness and green. The metallic top note being the follow through of the soil tincture. The success for me is the way the some of the notes carry it through an evolution and make it an all be it short journey into a nice earthy rose. The synth vibe is always exaggerated with the right natural note at the right time which has pushed me past my initial reservations of it being somewhat generic or purely a feminine scent. As such it also ends up being quite pungent and long lasting. Whilst it can be worn any time I think for men it’s be more of a treat rather than one for wearing in public but I’m sure a lot of women will love it.

An unusual combination that just works. I can’t stop sniffing it! I scored a 50ml decant from a friend for an unbelievable AUD 20 and honestly, Lava Rose might be one of the best and gorgeous rose fragrances out there. Period. It’s dark and edgy, with a gothic undertone that feels like stepping into a funeral parlour, yet it also induces the vibe of a leather bar or an intimate bathhouse. At the same time, it’s sophisticated enough for a fine dining experience or a night out at a club. Versatile, bold and utterly addictive and UNIQUE despite with no oud in the notes - pure genius! 100% gender neutral and men can confidently wear this with no masculinity issue :) I'm saving the big 50ml decant bottle for my lifetime supply and use it on special occasions only.

Damp, earthy, smoky. A heavy haze at early onset, and lingers for hours. Sharpness is metallic and burnt. Avant-garde in many respects.Total ambivalence. I'm not into rose notes, and this is still the case, however, I enjoy the punishment this perfume administers. ⚜ Message me if you're selling this one in the USA in any condition (used, decants, just the bottle!, etc), She's absolutely beautiful. ⚜

This fragrance best fragrance I ever own hands down. Clean, sophisticated, unique. Reminds me of a super fresh litchi drink on crazy hot summer. The litchi and rose note is so fresh and clean. Don’t know why it’s being discontinued. Hopefully Prin will remake this : ((

This is absolutely gorgeous. It's rosey, earthy, smoky, and a bit metallic. It's so pretty and it smells really good on my skin. This perfume just screams goth to me and it's lovely!

A very unusual combination. And a very exaggerated visual pyramid- it can be explained in a simpler way. Has anyone really smelled lava in real life, come on? Opens smoky and the smoke unexpectedly flows into a cloudy aftershave with herbs and dampness/mold. Then it is joined by a medicinal/leathery rose. There is no "tea rose". I can believe a "dry rose" as it does have a whiff of dry flowers and mold, but a tea rose is much fresher and sweeter than this ( I have 70+ rose varieties in the garden and 20+ are tea roses, so pardon my skepticism). Can`t smell any plastic either. I`m surprised there are 4 types of roses listed but not 1 medicinal or leather note that have a strong presence here. Not the smokiest perfume, but the type of smoke here is different than just straight tar, frankincense, gunpowder or resin. It is smoke than ends as a mold and you`re left confused of how this is possible. Strange but interesting.

A bouquet of black roses, set aflame on a funeral pyre of sandalwood. The flowers aren't the only things decomposing in the heat; their plastic wrappers and rubber bands holding the stems together warp and melt amidst the flames, emitting fumes that you *know* are toxic, but feel oddly compelled to sniff. Not anywhere as outright smoky as Beaufort London's offerings, but does a good job of evoking the image of desiccated, charred scraps.

The initial opening smells like the bat enclosure at the zoo. The high humidity, mossy and odd musty scent of seeing beautiful fruit bats in an artificial enclosure. Smells like something Zoologist perfumes would create as it’s so unique, nonconformist and unusual. The dry-down becomes much more enjoyable and is actually very dry and woody. I just can’t get past the burnt, ashy, black notes, as they remain a scent indicator of impending disaster. I prefer to use scent to mask the surrounding doom in my life.

Earthy, mossy opening, an air of plastic and minerals however also fairly sweet. Dries down to a floral smoky rose. Might even describe as dusty. I don't find this overly dark or smoky, but it does have a sort of gothic vibe, a dark rose incense (slightly sourish) or something you might smell in an alternative clothing shop that caters to goths. It's quite wearable though, not unpleasant at all. a very green, slightly vegetal rose... at times, i get a dense, moist floral background, but by and large, this is a rose centred fragrance. rose, be it fresh or dried, comes through, quite often through different lenses, in one way or another. My mum used to display store-bought dried flower petals, and put really low-quality rose essence/oil on the dried petals, so that daffodil and magnolia petals smelt like a really bad quality rose oil, and this is what it reminds me of...
