Lumberjack Cologne

(sample only) I received this sample around the time it was discontinued (I think) and... I loved. I mean loved this scent. For me - nice gasoline opening that mellows out the a super masculine woody scent. like working in a slightly damp shed, heated by a crappy generator, and cutting fresh wood that's leaking out potent resin. But you also have been drinking a lovely light mocktail this whole time - and yet the generator lingers in the back. Despite that description, this is not an aggressive scent. In fact, it's gentle. Which is divine for me - what better wish than to smell as good as petrol, but still seem approachable and nice. It balances safe and unique brilliantly. If this was still in production... it would be my signature. Any dupes / similars would be appreciated. 10/10 - idc, that's my jam.

This is very safe compared to some of the other samples in the latest batch I got. Even as a newcomer to this field I can appreciate the quality of the natural ingredients. Anyway, don't trust my nose, but with the first whiff I thought 'this reminds me of something'....finally I realized that it reminds of the 'medicinal'+smoky smell of Islay single-malt scotch such as Laphroaig. I haven't drunk that in a couple of decades so it's a distant memory. I'm not sure where I'm getting that from other than the smoke note.

Fantastic petrol-like smell merged with bright citrus notes. Good bit of oakmoss and leather in the dry down to ensure this has plenty of heft from beginning to end. I am forever in search of an addictive petrol fragrance and this one does a pretty decent job of fulfilling my needs. Great perfume as art yet entirely wearable

I was expecting this to be much rougher around the edges. I actually find it quite smooth and warm, with dry woods, leather, and light citruses. Softly masculine. Really liking this one. The dry down I find strangely sexy yet comforting- like your boyfriend's t-shirt that still smells like him.

This is a well balanced, office safe, masculine leaning fragrance. I would describe the opening as "warm wood citrus" and if I were to assign a color it would be a warm yellow or ochre. The two strips of color on the bottle label actually are a pretty good representation, but I say ochre to include a bit more earth into the mix. The citrus and freshness is balanced very quickly with a subtle woody/earthiness but not in a sharp way. I would say it is a very mellow, smooth woodiness- almost creamy but not like sandalwood or with any vanilla sweetness. It is very pleasant to my nose. Easy going, classic vibes that leans towards a more alert daytime fragrance. The term lumberjack could maybe conjure scents of green and pine groves, but this is not that. No leaves or conifer needles to be found here. I see oakmoss is listed, but that never jumps out to me, though I don't doubt it's in the mix somewhere. To my nose, this does not have powerful sillage or projection...but that is a good thing. I am also sampling from a small .7ml bottle without an atomizer. I feel an atomizer might change the experience and boost the sillage. Either way, this is not overbearing, but I get little wiffs as the hours drift by and my skin warms it up. I would recommend this to someone looking for a versatile, masculine (although I really think the right person of any gender could pull this off), daytime fragrance that is classic in a way that does not smell derivative or like a generic men's cologne. Get a sample, because scent is so subjective and I don't think blind buys are ever a good idea unless you have money to burn. UPDATE: I ended up getting full bottle of this. Highly recommend. I wore it yesterday in 90 degree humid weather and did one spray on my chest, under shirt. I got several compliments on from folks after a hug, and caught nice subtle whiffs for the whole day. The blend of fresh citrus, and wood notes is perfect. Basically a very modern, natural smelling, well blended classic fragrance. Also, I initially said "firmly masculine" and I would like to rescind that. I think this could work on any gender. It's citrusy, with a well-rounded woody depth- absent of any florals, sweetness, or powderiness. If you like bright fresh citrus, with the depth of smooth, multi-faceted woods, give this a shot.

Sampling Strangers Parfumerie Lumberjack Cologne, which has a good classic-meets-modern vibe, semi-fresh, a bit woody, and midway between soapy and dirty, indoorsy and outdoorsy, pretty invigorating overall. Its main notes are mandarin, orris butter, guaiac, soap, cedar, leather, and moss. It’s a classic case of rhetorically asking “what’s not to like?” as it’s a pretty easy winner. Certainly it’s not as daring, genre-specific, or high-performing as some of the other options from the line that I’ve tried, but this could easily be regarded as a signature / go-to option in the line, as an everyday, year-round men’s scent, quite well executed, with decent performance. Lumberjack Cologne is sold by both Luckyscent and Indiescents for the line’s standard EDP pricing of $80 for 30ml. It was not part of the sample set that I ordered from Luckyscent but rather ordered a separate vial sample, though Indiescents sells individual spray samples. 7 out of 10

I just spent August days on the Olympic Peninsula, that temperate rain forest where my ancestors logged old growth timber. I brought many scents with green and forest accords, and few worked. It smells so heavenly out there - clean, light, warmly alive, only faintly piney - that something like Storra Skuggan Pine felt overbearing and inauthentic. I wanted to wear a simple blue fragrance or classic cologne - something that complemented the surroundings. This worked perfectly. I’m convinced Prin actually visited the area to arrive at the decisions made here.

Bergamot and citrus slap you in the face at first. Almost spicey enough to mistake for clove. There's some soapy pine to it, almost like Ghost Pine by LVNEA. Then it dries to a darker, safe wooden scent. It's less "winter conifer" and more "lumber yard full of cedar rounds". The oakmoss and leather are there. But they're more like a little leftover fungus on an otherwise fresh stack of planks - you're not getting a deep dark forest floor here. I like something with more edge, but this is a perfectly good, well-performing, fresh wood scent.

I definitely get the gasoline note. To me it is like a green yuzu style citrus plant (maybe akin to an essential oil) with a clean gasoline aftertaste. I also pick up some sort of peaty soil nuance and some oakmoss. The woody notes are extremely dry to me. The fragrance is texturally arid like sawdust. Really, really good masculine fragrance. Not generic at all but also not too challenging. I enjoy when a good perfumer can make bitter and dry elements into something invigorating. 8.1/10

Strangers parfumerie brings back a retro cologne for men with Lumberjack. It's very herbal on the initial spray, but the citrus and wood come up front balancing everything out. Lumberjack woods smells like fresh cut still burning on the edges. Bergamot is the main citrus all with a hint of gasoline,and it'll stay that way for the life of the fragrance. As it gets closer to your skin it'll turn powdery. If you're a fan of retro scents from the 80's or 90's sample Lumberjack

I think this is a underrated option from the strangers line. This opens up with a blast of lemon, grapefruit and soap. The opening is very short lived though. The citrusus remain throughout the fragrances but they give way to other notes in the mid and the Dry down. The obscure motor oil note and the woods. The dry down introduces dry orris and a bit of leather.

I like this one a lot. Cut wood. Hint of smoke. Green wood. Cedar. Hint of citrus. Very fresh. Good for daytime wear.

Lumberjack is quite good, but I was left slightly disappointed when I could hardly detect any motor oil in this, but ultimately not a terrible fragrance by any means. Lumberjack is not gritty or edgy, it's actually quite bright and unexpectedly cheerful. It's lemony, zesty, mixed with what I can only describe as sawdust and sweet freshly cut and gentle wood. With gentle application It was not easy to smell, but overapplication became a little overwhelming. Still, no gasoline, petrol, burning wood, or any smoky or tar-like qualities whatsoever. Not overly complex. It's a mild clean woody scent or even a pleasant sandalwood aroma(No smoke.) Lumberjack is unisex, easygoing, friendly, a little playful, and very wearable. its strength is also impressive for Strangers Parfumerie, with both impressive sillage and longevity. I received a compliment while wearing this. I find it rather forgettable though despite the positive feedback received, but it's still good. This one is a little too polite for me to be something I'd reach for on a daily, I can safely say I won't buy a full bottle of this.

This isn’t very Unique for a men’s fragrance. But what does make it stand out is how “natural” and non synthetic all the notes are. The beauty is in how it smells like a man’s shirt that has been hit with trees and green brush all day (minus the sweat). A nice balance of green+wood. Soapy clean. It’s worth exploring.

It smells like someone said “wood” and then threw the entire hardware store at you. It’s dry, scratchy masculine woods with the subtlety of a 2x4 hitting a wall. There’s a green outdoorsy edge, but not forest — more like the smell of splinters and sawdust stuck in your shirt. Nothing polished, nothing clean, nothing cologne fresh. Just straight masculine lumber guy energy, loud and literal.

Enticing unisex woody fun. Comforting, with a warmth about it I really enjoy. Perfect for this time of year - there is some nearly incense-y smoke filtering through piled up logs, pines and twigs crunching underfoot. Very cosy with a tongue-in-cheek naughtiness to it. Recommended.

Cobra and canary vibes without the asphalt, slightly sweet but very sobering too, masculine in the way I like masculine frags to be, a little petrol and hay, citrus and woods. Really good one.
