Salted Green Mango

Smack! wallop! Let me assault you with something fantastically original!!! Something hard to describe easily at first because you just don’t get stuff like this every day!!! Dying to get this when first announced on Fragrantica I grabbed a bottle of this as well as Cigar and Rum Intense and Oliver as well as samples of every other scent in their line up. Such a fantastic relief to have something genuinely left field. First impressions : Green, Aquatic, Gourmand, Salt, Fresh. Sweetness tempered by a light dressing of salt (somewhat reminiscent of seaweed though by no means providing the briny impression that there is seaweed in it) over green mango. If you haven’t tried green mango in a Thai dish think of an unripened sweet Kensington or Calypso that is more pungent than normal at that stage. Adding to the freshness just over the top you have to me almost equal parts of pomelo, bergamot and the slight tartness and sweetness of guava giving a bit of body. All the other notes are there too though I find them flitting here and there and complimentary. If you would like a bracing fresh slightly dark in-depth green scents that’s not overly sweet and really want something completely new in an inoffensive scent with a reasonable scent bubble and longevity give this a go- it seriously rocks!

This scent really has two lives. The opening is very fruity: sweet and somewhat heavy, though lovely. I'm no fan of gourmands, and this is not a dessert fruit smell—more like the sweet smell of mango peel left out on the counter in the heat. After a half hour or so, the big fruit smell begins to gently fade away. At this point, I start to panic: "this can't be it, can it?" The mango with citrus playing in the background lingers as a skin scent for a few hours, slowly drying out in a lovely but intensely private way. However, just when I'm ready to write off the entire experience as over with, the scent's second life begins: its salty phase. The salt blooms so unexpectedly strong around the three or four-hour mark, and I think it's at this point that the whole scent really arrives. Here is the dry, dry, salty mango and a hint of something aromatic at the back of my throat (maybe the chile).I'm amazed at how it can stealthily fill up a room at this stage. This is an incredibly sexy saltiness—as if your sweat just naturally smelled like you went to the beach that morning, and there's a bowl of fruit ripening in the next room, windows open to the breeze. A summer evening stunner. Overall a gorgeous and surprising experience—absolutely full bottle worthy.

Salted Green Mango is an absolutely incredible, unique perfume! I ordered a sample because I had heard so many good things about it. I was unfamiliar with how seaweed, pomelo, guava, petigrain, gooseberry and elemi smelled so I was really unsure how much I'd like it, but since I love citrus/fruity/sweet perfumes, I decided to give it a shot and I'm so glad I did! The first notes I smelled (in this order) were mango, chili pepper, rose, magnolia, bitter orange and vetiver. I absolutely fell in love!! After awhile it blends together wonderfully and gives off a sensual, sexy, opulent, almost powdery, fruity scent as the vetiver becomes more noticeable. I like that it doesn't announce me as I enter a room, it stays close to the skin in a lovely, intensely private way and is long lasting. I find myself smelling my wrists throughout the day. I would definitely categorize this as more of a feminine fragrance than unisex. It can be worn in any season (day or night), but especially in the summer! It is office appropriate. I bought a full bottle of this unique, amazing perfume and look forward to wearing it in the spring, summer and fall. Longevity 8/10 Sillage 6/10 Projection 6/10

A sea under the rain... This is pure Mediterranean. I wasn’t expecting that at all! In my head it sits squarely in the citrusy-marine category and it captures the setting perfectly! Sweetness is kept at the lowest end, which is great news. I get a fresh sea-breeze effect, salt, bright citrus, an unripe mango nuance, and clean white florals. In the drydown, a vetiver thread shows up (slightly herbal and earthy) along with a faint seaweed impression. If I had to assign colors: sea blue, green mango, glossy lemon peel, and white flowers. Successful. Green, mildy fruity bittersweet opening of pithy citrus and under-ripe tropical fruits with a good dose of crunchy salt crystals. Rapidy adds warmth of chilli and a soft blush of rose. Eventually the aromatic iodine 'seaweed' accord comes into play a couple hours in. Oh, and from the very start to end, I found vetiver to be extremy apparent, without being TOO bossy. Salted Green Mango is a super interesting take on the Marine fragrance genre, and I particularly enjoy that it has been constructed in a totally different way to the usual contenders (Sel Marin, Atlante, Megamare etc) Performance is OK, but hits skinscent within two hours for a total five-ish hours of wear. Looking forward to liberally spritzing this on my upcoming cruise around the Australian Gold Coast whilst soaking up the sun!
