Salted Green Mango

Smack! wallop! Let me assault you with something fantastically original!!! Something hard to describe easily at first because you just don’t get stuff like this every day!!! Dying to get this when first announced on Fragrantica I grabbed a bottle of this as well as Cigar and Rum Intense and Oliver as well as samples of every other scent in their line up. Such a fantastic relief to have something genuinely left field. First impressions : Green, Aquatic, Gourmand, Salt, Fresh. Sweetness tempered by a light dressing of salt (somewhat reminiscent of seaweed though by no means providing the briny impression that there is seaweed in it) over green mango. If you haven’t tried green mango in a Thai dish think of an unripened sweet Kensington or Calypso that is more pungent than normal at that stage. Adding to the freshness just over the top you have to me almost equal parts of pomelo, bergamot and the slight tartness and sweetness of guava giving a bit of body. All the other notes are there too though I find them flitting here and there and complimentary. If you would like a bracing fresh slightly dark in-depth green scents that’s not overly sweet and really want something completely new in an inoffensive scent with a reasonable scent bubble and longevity give this a go- it seriously rocks!

This scent really has two lives. The opening is very fruity: sweet and somewhat heavy, though lovely. I'm no fan of gourmands, and this is not a dessert fruit smell—more like the sweet smell of mango peel left out on the counter in the heat. After a half hour or so, the big fruit smell begins to gently fade away. At this point, I start to panic: "this can't be it, can it?" The mango with citrus playing in the background lingers as a skin scent for a few hours, slowly drying out in a lovely but intensely private way. However, just when I'm ready to write off the entire experience as over with, the scent's second life begins: its salty phase. The salt blooms so unexpectedly strong around the three or four-hour mark, and I think it's at this point that the whole scent really arrives. Here is the dry, dry, salty mango and a hint of something aromatic at the back of my throat (maybe the chile).I'm amazed at how it can stealthily fill up a room at this stage. This is an incredibly sexy saltiness—as if your sweat just naturally smelled like you went to the beach that morning, and there's a bowl of fruit ripening in the next room, windows open to the breeze. A summer evening stunner. Overall a gorgeous and surprising experience—absolutely full bottle worthy.

Salted Green Mango is an absolutely incredible, unique perfume! I ordered a sample because I had heard so many good things about it. I was unfamiliar with how seaweed, pomelo, guava, petigrain, gooseberry and elemi smelled so I was really unsure how much I'd like it, but since I love citrus/fruity/sweet perfumes, I decided to give it a shot and I'm so glad I did! The first notes I smelled (in this order) were mango, chili pepper, rose, magnolia, bitter orange and vetiver. I absolutely fell in love!! After awhile it blends together wonderfully and gives off a sensual, sexy, opulent, almost powdery, fruity scent as the vetiver becomes more noticeable. I like that it doesn't announce me as I enter a room, it stays close to the skin in a lovely, intensely private way and is long lasting. I find myself smelling my wrists throughout the day. I would definitely categorize this as more of a feminine fragrance than unisex. It can be worn in any season (day or night), but especially in the summer! It is office appropriate. I bought a full bottle of this unique, amazing perfume and look forward to wearing it in the spring, summer and fall. Longevity 8/10 Sillage 6/10 Projection 6/10

A sea under the rain... This is pure Mediterranean. I wasn’t expecting that at all! In my head it sits squarely in the citrusy-marine category and it captures the setting perfectly! Sweetness is kept at the lowest end, which is great news. I get a fresh sea-breeze effect, salt, bright citrus, an unripe mango nuance, and clean white florals. In the drydown, a vetiver thread shows up (slightly herbal and earthy) along with a faint seaweed impression. If I had to assign colors: sea blue, green mango, glossy lemon peel, and white flowers. Successful. Green, mildy fruity bittersweet opening of pithy citrus and under-ripe tropical fruits with a good dose of crunchy salt crystals. Rapidy adds warmth of chilli and a soft blush of rose. Eventually the aromatic iodine 'seaweed' accord comes into play a couple hours in. Oh, and from the very start to end, I found vetiver to be extremy apparent, without being TOO bossy. Salted Green Mango is a super interesting take on the Marine fragrance genre, and I particularly enjoy that it has been constructed in a totally different way to the usual contenders (Sel Marin, Atlante, Megamare etc) Performance is OK, but hits skinscent within two hours for a total five-ish hours of wear. Looking forward to liberally spritzing this on my upcoming cruise around the Australian Gold Coast whilst soaking up the sun!

I really enjoy this scent. It's atypical- being a crisp, green Mango with salt, seaweed, and chilli, rather than the juicy and sweet variety more familiar to westerners- but still very wearable. A great summer scent, stays bright and fresh even in swelteringly hot and oppressive conditions. Reminds me of my mom, who grew up in the Philippines and loves salt on sour fruits. I don't catch the rose note at all, mercifully, as rose can very quickly turn me off to an otherwise great scent. Do I love it enough to buy a full bottle? Not on these mercifully rainy afternoons, but ask me again during the height of the heat next summer. 8/10

The fragrance starts with something sea-like, perhaps seaweed, and quickly morphs into the green mango! Green unripe mango is very different from the yellow sweet one we normally find in the supermarkets. It has a more greenish, sour, crispy smell and flavour. In Thailand it is eaten with a dip sauce that is spicy-sweet-salty-sour and this can be recognized in the dry down of the fragrance. Later on it dries down to a more general fruity fragrance, but not too sweet, just perfect. It stays close to the skin but is long lasting. Unique and unisex.

Super unique, super fresh, and super refreshing! Like nothing I've ever smelled before. I absolutely love this scent! When I first sprayed this scent, I was absolutely shocked to find it was so incredibly sour! I began to salivate as if I had eaten a lemon, and I was delighted that the dry down was as tantalizing as the initial scent! Great unisex frag for the summer months! Performs well in heat and stays refreshing without becoming overbearing. Will be purchasing a full bottle for a good friend of mine.

This is my summer scent — it is fruity without being sweet, invoking notes of freshly cut mangoes and grapefruit plucked straight from the tree, tart and cold. It is aquatic without conjuring images of douchebags in linen on boats and it is beachy without smelling like coconuts; instead, it smells like a salty ocean breeze that hits your skin and combs through your hair as you're walking along the beach. It is perfect. Natural, stripped down summer without the sleaziness of a boozy bikini babe.

This is brilliant and unique. I wasn't sure of what to expect, and the opening leans very masculine on me (not something I enjoy on myself). The longer I wore it, the more I adored it. I'm not great with notes (always working toward that), but agree with the excited reviews here. So Cool, fresh, clean, and green. I wish that I got any of the sweetness others have described, I don't. That wont stop me from buying a bottle and dousing myself regularly. Perfect for summer.

Very salt-forward. The opening is like a blend of hard, starchy mango with some grapefruit (pomelo) and a healthy dose of Chili, which is actually very enjoyable, and brings a unique warmth to to what I’m smelling. If you’ve ever been to a very hot country and in a rocky location, it smells like those hot rocks. Wearing this perfume brings the hot holiday smell with you, instead of cutting through it. Definitely the best I’ve tried from the house. 9/10

I spent all summer looking for a unique fresh aquatic and I found it! I love this smell. The sour mango is there as well as a distinctly aquatic smell and a little bit of spice to give it a bit of a sexy twist. This is not a designer perfume if you are more used to the synthetic nose feel of department store stuff; it does feel a little more quirky to me, very realistic foodie, something you’d wear to a beach party, not necessarily to work.

A dry, crisp, refreshing fragrance with really good ocean notes. Reminds me of my beloved Acqua di Sale, but where that one is almost oily and dense, Salted Green Mango is lighter. It lifts off the skin in a cloud of salt, crunchy green fruit with not a trace of sugar, and just the tiniest hint of red pepper. Truly divine. Perfect for hot weather. It stays strong on the skin for about 4 hours but traces will linger even into the next day.

A bitter, pithy, underripe fruit coated with a light sprinkle of salt and chili powder. No sweetness to be had here. It's so nice that this scent is linear! Salted Green Mango doesn't lose its tartness on the dry-down and remains a fragrance with a little bite all the way through its wear. Perfect for warm weather if you want something a little different. This is the longest-lasting green fragrance I've tried so far. Well done.

You're the first moment after sour candy touches the tongue, "tart," that quick punch in the face and all of the body's reactions that follow--the eyes shut, the lips purse, the mouth waters and gushes to counter! idk how you'd disslike this scent. It's a super bitter/green undergrown mango smell which has hints of marine and citrusy vibes from seaweed and pomelo. The salty vibe is reaaally small and quite unnoticeable imo. I'd say you definitely shouldn't expect something like god of fire, it's nowhere near that. There isn't much else to say about this one. an 8.8/10 for me.

On card it smelled so repugnant I assumed I'd never use up my decant. However, on the skin it's a different story, it's very salty and the chilli radiates off the skin, without turning too culinary. The mango is really an afterthought, although the general vibe of the perfume is tropical, so it's a fitting name anyway.

A salty clean marine scent with a chili pepper spices wrapped around and guava barely peaking out to be noticed. This gives me mexican spicy candy in a good way. Such a good gym scent if you want something a little bit different but still want that clean smell vibe!

I love this fragrance and it’s the first one I bought a full bottle of from the Strangers line. It’s salty, sweet, tart, citrusy, juicy, and aquatic all at once. It really gets the back of your mouth watering for that cold margarita on a hot day in the summer.

Beautiful green scent. Mango tannins and unripe elements makes this remarkable. Captured it! Smell the salt. Though I gotta eat more green mango pickles to understand the thought behind this fragrance. Love it, great job Prin!

This scent gives such a light hearted feeling! I love the mango and the salt. So playful and bright. I do feel that this is a unique fragrance and will absolutely be purchasing a bottle.

Just quietly glorious! Is there anything Mr. Lomros can’t do?? I’m such a fangirl of this man’s creations, and being that I also love a good legend/tale/backstory, nearly every fragrance is as inspired as it is an inspiration. Whether joyous, playful and sparkling or dark, skanky and dirty, opulent or uncomplicated, most of Prin’s offerings say “real niche is back, outta my way, derivatives & flankers!” and I love his complex pieces that have accords lists that read like inventory at a Chinese apothecary emporium, as much as the simpler (but NEVER DULL!) blends. Salted Green Mango was introduced to me by a fragrance pal in Israel who has impeccable taste in parfumerie, as I was lamenting not being able to access a portion of the Pryn Parfum catalogue. It introduces itself as a bit grassy, very crisp, a bit wet and green, and the salty umami that I love is there from the first chapter onward, as a nice background hum (yeah, I’m going with book AND musical metaphors here). There’s a middle phase that is the tiniest bit too bitter for me, and I’d suspected my nemesis cypriol, but it could be the vetiver and citrus; I love vetiver but it hates me. However, this is doable in warmer weather, and this bitter bite tempers the acidic sweetness of all of that tropical fruit, that would likely slam into its wearer like a sticky-sweet “Good Hawaiian Punch!” (those who grew up in 1970s America will be familiar with this atrocity of TV advertising) without it. One can almost feel the back of the jaw tense with the sourness of the first bite of mango skin. Salted Green Mango is a juicy yellow-green edged in dusky apricot and ochre, and like all of Prin’s work, it is totally unique, and a quintessential, slightly quirky (but in no way “weird”), refreshing summer fragrance. I miss the myriad ethnic foods I used to enjoy in Los Angeles, and this is the closest I may get to the mango slices sold from little refrigerated carts downtown. Drenched in lime and chilli, with a little salt, eaten straight from a plastic baggie, with a plastic fork, I always tried to save some for later, but couldn’t leave a single slice before I even got back to the car. Heavenly. Prin really knows how to evoke wonderful emotions and memories with his fragrances, and it’s already a better summer because of Salted Green Mango and Aroon Sawat...

Salted Green Mango is a triumph of a perfume! It's amazing to me how Strangers Parfumerie made something that should smell too foody, or even too fruity, into an elegant perfume. It opens up super fresh and also with a bite of dry vetiver. The vetiver in this fragrance reminds me so much of Asian culture and Asian smells - I don't know that I've actually smelled vetiver in real life (maybe) but there's something about this vetiver (and some others) that really brings familiarity to me. It's a smoky vetiver, dry, herbal, with a betel nut flavor. The rest of the opening is joyous mango, a lot sweeter than I expected it to be, and sea notes. There is a definite aquatic presence here, mineral nose singeing salt and very lightly dank seaweed, just to keep your nose saying "wait, what's that?" The mango is perfect, sweet, juicy, but also tart and fresh, green and perfect. Makes me really really crave salty unripe mango when I smell it. It's incredible. Smells like standing by the sea buying fruit from a little cart, dipping your mango on a stick into salt and spices. Mmm. The fragrance becomes sweeter as it dries, the mango ripening on your skin, perhaps with other fruits, and also becoming smokier as the vetiver keeps pushing its way to the top. It reminds me a bit of Timbuktu by L'Artisan; both Timbuktu and Salted Green Mango share a mango/vetiver riff that is somehow the perfect, and for some reason, familiar combination. Because of my Asian roots, I am fascinated by this perfume - but because of those same roots, it is hard for me to imagine wearing this perfume on my body day to day. It smells too much to me like beautiful natural smells I should smell in the air, in the trees, or on my plate. I want all my soaps, diffuser oils, candles, etc. to smell like this though. It's the tropical vacation that I really want to go on right now, bottled.

I hated this at first. On paper it smelled like spicy Mexican candy. But on skin it is natural, photorealistic mango. It’s grown on me. On skin, Salted Green Mango smells exactly like its name. Very unique and bold, no other perfume i've tried smells quite like this. It is sharp, humid, green, and intensely fruity. Think of scraping the flesh off a mango pit with your teeth. The projection is strong and lingering, and for better or worse, you will smell it. I got a compliment while wearing it, they liked it, but I still felt self-conscious due to its sheer presence and masculinity of it. In terms of performance, this lasts about 7~ hours in total. The opening is especially powerful and sticks around for a solid hour before easing into the drydown. One downside: when you're eating food, particularly grilled meat, it can create a skunky, weed-like smell. For example, I wore it while eating pork tacos and the combo in the air with this perfume was very ... zaza. It’s a very specific vibe. It's for you if you want to try a wild, sharp, masculine juicy mango just snapped off the tree and covered in Tajín. I'm not averse to wearing masculine scents, but I don't see myself wearing this ever. Very unique and transportative though.

Strangers Parfumerie Salted Green Mango is a fittingly salted and fresh fruity blend, as the name suggests, that isn’t too sweet or bright while still being a fun warm weather option. It seems to get a lot of buzz within the brand and I can see why: it’s an easy winner with likable quirks. I think it’s quite well done but not among the house’s best, but absolutely worth trying, as I could easily see this being a huge winner for many, as well as a crowd-pleaser with some nuance and creativity, for most. Salted Green Mango has EDP concentration, and like the rest of the line’s EDP offerings, is priced at $80 for 30ml, and is sold via both Luckyscent and Indiescents in North America. I’d recommend the Discovery Set of spray samples from Luckyscent, but Indiescent sells individual spray samples of everything, so that’s a great way to go, particularly if you’re sampling across various houses. 7 out of 10

this is a effervescent, fizzy, dry scent. i don’t find it very gourmand, or photorealistic at all. i didn’t expect it would be so... perfumey. the overall profile is less the juicy, bright and sassy i thought it’d be, and more spicy, citrusy, and sour. without actively smelling myself, i don’t really get any prominent mango flesh notes. i get chili, fizzy citrus (almost smells like the way ginger ale tastes), some salty beach scent, and maybe the hint of a mango skin or the occasional hint of tart flesh. it’s a very interesting scent, unexpected, and unique. i wish some notes were stripped away to let others shine, but the blend is still an interesting green scent that isn’t over-clean. i’ll enjoy getting to know it more

This is one of those rare scents that actually transports you mentally to the location intended. It literally smells like you're on location in Thailand eating your 🧂 salted green mango by the sea. Even the unique tang of the fruit is captured here! A masterclass in 'tourism' fragrances and a great summer fragrance that isnt cloying in the least but very refreshing. And I'm saying all this as a primarily gourmand lover so...yeah it's just that good. And I reallllly love it on my husband in the summertime too as I do feel even tho this is indeed unisex, it can take on a more masculine feel after drydown. Completely agree with the review below too that this definitely doesn't smell like any other fragrance

Not as photorealistic as I was hoping, but still enjoyable! I had envisioned something tart from the mixing of salt and underripe mango, like licking tajin off the skin. It ended up being more floral than expected. It is well blended and encourages me to try other perfumes from this house, but I won't be repurchasing this one and could see myself having a bit of a hard time using it up, due to my aversion to florals. It also makes me sneeze and I can't spray it directly onto my skin as I noticed it was causing irritation bumps to form. A like, not a love, but I so appreciate the concept and see the appeal so many find in it!

Just received the scent a few hours ago, so this is an initial review. I really like the scent. It's a fruity sweet scent. on the first spry(opening) I'm getting a citrus scent followed by a fruity sweet fragrance (it could be the mango, but as i never smelled the Thai green mango, i cannot confirm). the sweetness present is very well balanced (with touches of salt) and not overtake at all the fragrance. Very usable. Most likely i will be using this this during spring / summer on daytime (i think the perfect time for this fragrance should be during sunset) I'll update regarding Longevity and Sillage in a few days.

Hmm...what I smell is a big slug of pomelo, which is not my favorite note, so take this review for what it’s worth knowing that. Slightly salty pomelo and that’s about it. Neutral rating from me as it won’t be an automatic reach. Update: When this drys down it becomes a skin scent and at this point, I am really enjoying it as it smells like clean, slightly salty skin. Really enjoying this part of the wear, so I'm going to change my rating to a thumbs up as it teetered up from neutral in the far dry down.

This is such a cool and weird perfume. Upon first spray, I get juicy mango with a bite of green, sour/bitter tannins like mango with tajin powder. A few hours later, the paper strip I have smells dank, heady, and green– I can really smell the vetiver and a little bit of the seaweed, which lean more masculine. I'm excited to try a sample! If you're into South East Asian cooking, I think this and ELDO's Fils de Dieu will be entirely up your alley.

Not particularly long lasting, but that's not an altogether bad thing. I've learnt that this isn't something I necessarily want to smell like. The dry down is gorgeous, in its softest stage. At the top, it's green chilli peppers & guava ... kind of like a Thai salad. After that, it's very overwhelming until it dries down 5-7 hours later. There's a lot going on here, but with a solid concept that pulls it together. Fascinating, but not for me.

Nice, interesting Gourmand. The chili pepper is an interesting and important note in this composition, and more prominent than most acknowledge. The seaweed, salt, and chili pepper in fact are importantly prominent. This is wearable too. For me, Salted Green Mango is best for the cooler summer evenings, early fall and spring because of the warmth the chili pepper provides.

The smell of a green unripened fruit is captured hauntingly well in my opinion. In my humble opinion the title is exactly what you get. This is chopping up a green mango in your garden, completely unsweetened, and sprinkling with a bit of salt to heighten the deliciously bitter brine. A must try if you are into uniquely green, slightly vegetal styles. 8.1/10

Great summer scent which smells just like the name. Green and fruity with the salty ambergris/ambroxan. Only down side is it didn’t seem to hold up in the heat, which is where you would want to wear this. It dried to a salty fresh which is pretty common and smelled like a lot of other things. The house is creative overall, liked going through the scents.

This smells lovely and summery although I am not sure that it lasts very long on my skin; I can definitely smell the mango and citrus but not in a sticky sweet way at all, it feels very balanced with the aromatic notes (which i cant discern yet but they are nice and fresh). I think it's very unisex and inoffensive and makes me want the big bottle

Interesting and summery. Feels a bit juvenile but not in a bad way? Like a first cologne. Sweet yet masculine. Heavy on the salt in the open. I don't really smell mango but somehow it did remind me of eating a salted mango. Settled down into a bubble formula scent. Very fun for the price.

At first sniff reminds me of sel marin by heeley. It is very salty and cuts through the air to create a strong projection on my skin. Salted green mango has more sweetness with the mango which makes it different enough from sel marin.

unique fresh fragrance, with hints of tropical notes and nuances. pretty good and i could see myself wearing this, i enjoy the mango note when its not overly sweet. i just dont think i would buy it tbh 8.5/10

Brother From Another Mother To me this is a masculine version of Sel Marin. I think it might be the vetiver. if you like Sel Marin you will like this. To me this is green earthy aromatic aquatic

Fresh, crunchy, and masculine! A wonderful spring-summer fragrance, but definitely not for everyone. Very salty and slightly fruity, but the notes seem pretty accurate to me.

It’s a freshie with salt aspects reminiscent of ambregris and some mango twist. It’s a pleasant alternative to citrus options in high heat. It’s a easy like hard to love.

This a very nice salty seaweed green scent but I do not get any mango on my skin :( I am quite upset... It's a very nice scent but I did not get what I hoped for...

Hmmm 🤔 I'm writing this review after only 2 wearings of the scent and neither of them in public so far. However, I will give you my initial thoughts. I bought a couple of samples after seeing the fragrance apprentice's review on Salted Green Mango and after the initial spray I was surprised but, not in a good way. It reminded me of my teenage years working in Bangladeshi restaurant. The curry aroma would seep into my clothes although I was anosmic to it. My friends would always pick up on the scent and that mixed with the incense sticks the restaurant owner would burn is what this scent smells like to me. I wanted to wash it off my skin immediately! But, I thought I would go back and give it another try a week later. Second time around I gave it more of an opportunity to settle on my skin and, it improves after the initial spray. Scent off my skin is a beast and lasts for 8 hours plus with decent projection and sillage throughout. 24 hours later I can still get the scent on my skin and I have performed ablution (wudu) on numerous occasions in that time. I still don't know if I love this but the almost Oudi nature of this means there are occasions where I would wear this in public. Overall it is worth getting a sample of this and others in this house especially as they will discount the price of the sample if you decide to go for a full bottle after testing.

Finally I tried a Strangers perfume that I don’t dislike. Salted Mango is a fresh mango-citrus smack in the face, with a side of salt and seaweed. I don’t pick up the remaining individual notes, but it’s fresh and enjoyable even though this leans more synthetic over natural. This synthetic profile is what separates it from one of the upvotes, Un Jardin Sur Le Nil. That one is a beautiful, natural citrus salad. I don’t think they smell alike. And Tom Ford’s Oud Minerale is one of my favorite synthetic marine scents. The salty note shared between Salted Green Mango and Oud Minerale is the same, but that’s all they share. I would never make the scent connection because of a single note or two. Good performance all around especially for a citrus-mango dominant scent. During the dry down I get more marine notes mixed with other tropical fruit. You may have noticed an emphasis on the word synthetic in my review. Salted Green Mango is nice but it’s also a fake smell to me. The mango reference is only an abstraction. Not a deal breaker but I don’t think I need it in my collection. Still the best Strangers perfume I have worn.

Testing blind this opened with a fresh green soapy element with a tad of bitterness. This then morphed into a mellow and pleasing green woodsy body, maintaining some bitterness up top while becoming more warm. A spicy note also developed. While I appreciate it's freshness and elements of soapy-spice-green-woodsiness, I also feel a bit lazy trying to find something of more interest to state. Looking at the notes now, there's a lot more suggested than what I can pick up. While the petitgrain feels the most dominant, and the salt, green mango, soft side of vetiver, sandalwood, and some citrus are present, more than half feel more than distant. I don't really pick up any of the seaweed, guava, elemi, or pineapple. Well I quite enjoyed the first hour or three, it just became generically more soft aromatic with green floating around? Not necessarily bad but does not feel very inspiring. Even though the name implies summer it feels far more spring like. Overall, pleasant but I need more drama in my life.

Salted Green Mango is kind of strange. I don't hate it but I also can't bring myself to love it. I definitely smell the citrus, the salt, the chili pepper, a bit of the green mango. It's a very aromatic, semi-spicy, interesting mix. But it also smells very synthetic and almost...warm. It doesn't have any bright, refreshing, realistic juiciness to it—which is what I wanted from it. There's also zero hint of sweetness, which is disappointing considering there's a pineapple note supposedly in there; the scent leans fairly masculine to my nose. Despite all the notes indicating that this is a tropical summer fragrance, I actually think this might be too sharp and synthetic for hot weather. I'm passing on this one, but it wouldn't make a half-bad men's fragrance to transition from winter to warmer weather, in my opinion!
