Scotch Peat

An intense, natural and beautiful fragrance. In no way am I an expert in all the various notes involved, so I'll just say that to me it's a very organic mix of soil, mint and woods. It's got a light, musty funk to it that makes it seem alive. Seems like it would be quite versatile, since it's deep enough for cold weather, but also has a cooling effect for warmer months. If I had to pick a season for it, it would be spring, because it really smells like things coming to vigorous life. Performance seems about average. Leans masculine, I guess, but it's so bohemian that the hippie chicks could certainly wear it with ease. I very rarely smell something this visceral and real. Really high quality in materials and creative composition. A very high recommendation for people looking for fragrances that smell natural and complex, artistic and different, but still somehow very accessible. Great!

Sampling Strangers Parfumerie Scotch Peat, a fittingly earthy, spicy, woody, slightly boozy mix, with a lengthy note list, but featuring peat moss, barley, hay, lavender, resins, dried fruit, cypress. It both transports me to the woods in winter and gives me the vibes of tavern or distillery, with liquor and food notes, both sweet and savory. It has a whole lot of character and is very strong. It incorporates the various ideas and genres without being too intense in any one particular respect, yet the result is still pretty intense overall, but dries down to be more subtle, very gradually, over a few hours but I’m very pleased with the composition and performance. Yet another great winner from this house. Scotch Peat is priced at $80 for 30ml, the standard EDP pricing for the line, and is sold at Luckyscent and Indiescents. 8 out of 10

I absolutely love this and have been wearing it all the time since I got a bottle. It's a mix of earth, woods, and cypress all soaked in booze. It's not the most complex to my nose despite all the notes, but it's so pleasurable to smell that I don't mind at all. It has pretty good longevity but projection isn't the best, so I'll usually spray a bit more with this one. It's my favorite from the great Strangers Parfumerie house along with Burning Ben, which, while more difficult to wear, I might enjoy just a bit more. If you want an incense-heavy version of this without the cypress/spruce, try Eshu from the same perfumer in the Prin line.

I bought this cologne on a whim and I am so impressed that I signed up for the website and am leaving a comment. It is a high end fragrance with a nice woody and earthy smell that leans masculine. Extremely pleasant and a obviously balanced by an expert perfumer. I was kind of expecting it to be awful and weird, but it's wonderful. One of my best fragrances 10/10.

"Mastered version of Pure malt from thierry mugler". In here there is the same malt note but much more realistic and qualified.There is also some sweetness from dried fruits and greeness from spruce and oakmoss. I am a fan of realistic bozzy fragrances like STH from killian. I am in love with this one.

Starts off like I have my entire face in soil (makes sense) and dries down to a smooth, earthy, woody masc scent. I wouldn't wear it myself but would love it on my partner! I rated this eternal because it still had sillage even after washing, but not necessarily in a bad way.

Opens strong with a tobacco accord, with the peat bias. The tobacco marries all the notes shown in the period, the sweetness from the honey+white chocolate (slight amount), while being uplifted by the greens present in this profile from the moss, cypress, and a bit more of the spruce. You can make out the oak, which really hones in on presenting the tobacco abstraction. So far, it’s a substantially more complex profile than something like Smoke by Akro, but it really bears a heavy resemblance to Burning Ben. Though, not exactly in the same way, a tad bit brighter, a bit sweeter, but less dirty, which arguably was done by the coffee accord. But throughout the peat is the main bias, becoming increasingly a bit more forward over time, but not the main star at the end, while the tobacco is characterized in the nuances as mentioned, and expected from the notes. A bit cleaner than I prefer, but it might suit someone new interested in exploring this genre of tobacco frags.

After only recently discovering them, I must say I really enjoy the scents of Prin Lomros. Each scent I have tried is super unique, and this one definitely is! Spraying from a sample vial, so a substantial amount per spray. This kind of smells like a minty, smoky, version of "Rhinoceros". I smell a lot of leather, but it also smells like being beside a fire while camping deep in the woods. I don't smell anything sweet or resinous in this, but I do smell a hefty dose of liquorice. SUPER strong sillage; it fills a room! As a female, I find it a bit too much on the 'masculine' side of things for my personal taste, but would still wear it if gifted to me. I think (for my taste) it would be fantastic base for layering scents.

I like this a lot, but it doesn't smell like scotch or peat at all. It opens with a burst of bright cardamom and warm spice. It's very festive and would be perfect around the fall and winter holidays. I would consider this very unisex. As it dries, the spice recedes, and the smoke makes its way to the front. It's not peat smoke, just regular smoke. You can also pick out lavender, a hint of oak, and a sweet mossy scent. This is very enjoyable, but far from what I was expecting. If you want a truer scotch fragrance, I'd recommend trying Leatherize by DS&Durga. That has a boozy scotch scent crossed with very heavy leather.

Very masculine scent... this is smoky, woodsy, and earthy to the point where it’s almost dank. The sweeter notes (booze, honey, white chocolate) come out as it dries down, making for a nice contrast. I personally like this fragrance. but I’m afraid of putting people off when I wear it because it’s so heavy. Although this is advertised as a unisex scent I think only a woman with a certain aesthetic or confidence could make this work. This is a good night out scent; it lasts long and I would be instantly drawn to an attractive person wearing this at a bar.

when i smell this fragrance, at the first glance i see a pile of dirt in a blaze. After a few minutes, the fire gets its job done, i'm left with mossy dirt with burnt ashes. It starts off with a burning earthy dirt smell, than it gets much smokier and you get moss, dirt, smoke and some dried fruits which i find really similar to zoologist camels dried fruits. A really dark and creative earthy scent. 8/10

You're with the boys out in a lavender field at night, dancing around a bonfire, singing songs and drinking scotch. Naturally, a few of them break out in a fight, and while they're wrestling and kicking up mud, you decide to sit yourself down on straw bale to watch. Lassies come on by, offering fudge for dessert--you're much obliged. Boys, this is entertainment! Scotch Peat by Strangers Parfumerie.

I'm surprised by how well the white chocolate and piney notes mix together, it creates quite a relaxing and casual scent. I do agree it is very reminiscent of some kind of machine oil but almost in a good way. Nothing spectacular, though I feel it's like the less artificial version of MMM By The Fireplace!

like most of strangers parfumerie, this repulses me but i respect it deeply. smoke-like, industrial yet earthy, abstract and deeply evocative.

I like this insofar as it's definitely not a linear perfume, it's one of those story-telling, journey-taking fragrances that start at point A and move through several other points to end somewhere else altogether. But my admiration for the composition doesn't mean I actually like the journey - or not so much... For a start, the jumping-off point is treacly sweet, molasses and dark conifer honey (definitely NOT malt, barley or anything scotch-like), and it's a tad off-putting. The sweetness fades to reveal a dark tarry heart, with more than a hint of petroleum (rather than birch) tar, which made me go 'oh! Interesting' at the same time as 'eew.... don't go there!' Fortunately, the dry-down is straightforward smoke, a hint of peat maybe, but nothing remotely like the glorious heavy peat of Beaufort's Vi et Arms, and even then the initial sweetness, albeit transformed into something drier and more liquorice-like, persists, with a good helping of tonka bean to help it along. It's an accomplished, if somewhat misleading perfume, but it's not for me...

Fragrance In Three Words: Earthy Smoky Whisky Starts off with sort of candied, sugary apricot. As the fragrance progresses I get more of a smoky whisky reminding me of something like Laphroaig. I get a lot of earthy notes and bitter green absinthe. Like Burning Ben also released on the Strangers Parfumerie line it has that kitchen sink feel. I'm not doubting Prin Lomross' talent and this is an interesting and complex perfume, it just feels a bit too difficult to be wearable. On a different day I might prefer Burning Ben, but both have left me feeling underwhelmed given the hype. Price in the UK is £75 for 30ml which is OK for a niche perfume. The perfume also has a slightly green tinge which may stain clothing. I noticed it stained the sprayer on the decant. Rating: 6.5 1ml decant

On skin it started with damp peat and bright coniferous scent. Quite interesting. Then I got woody scent plus smoke and petroleum oil, reminding me of campfire. There’s also leather scent. On clothing, however, opened up with boozy scent which I assume to be Scotch from the name. It lasted for a few minutes before resuming with the notes I got off the on skin sample. The boozy part was quite beautiful. I would assume also that the whole olfactory tale would be about drinking Scotch by the campfire in the coniferous wilderness. At least that’s what came to mind after soaking this olfactory tale into my system. The peat and smoke and booze reminds me of another beauty of the same house, Gheorghe. But I kinda enjoyed Gheorghe more.

I was really looking forward to this one as I enjoy peaty Islay whiskys and love so many others from this house. Unfortunately this is a real let down on my skin. All I get is woods (mostly oak), oakmoss and leather with a bit of smoke and a touch of green from the spruce - I get absolutely no boozy scotch, peat, chocolate or fruit notes. I just wanted this to be so much more than it was.

I've put this on my skin several times now. Not because I love it but because it is very strange and fascinating and I feel as though I'm missing something. For now, I'd say this particular perfume makes sense why Prin Lomros is the creator of Bat from Zoologist. This definitely has that zoo-like dirt scent to it, but sadly it.. almost smells like.. sweetened diarrhea? Yet not as foul and sickening. Even so, it isn't horribly offensive, just bizarre and non-perfume-y. This is truly just a bizarre, almost unwearable fragrance.

Either my nose is defective or my decant is, because I’ve tried this a few times now and I just don’t seem to be having the same experience other reviewers are. I just get a strong typical cologne smell. Kind of incensey. I don’t get peat at all from this, which is what I really wanted as I love the smell and burn it all the time in my home. Is also sort of weird in that it’s extremely strong on me for about an hour or so, but then quickly dissipates to almost nothing. Disappointed.
