Black Rose

I friggin love it when shit gets weird and it actually works. This one so works and sooo weird! It’s not the rose ive been looking for, actually the opposite, but it’s yummy! It starts out w creamy boozy scent that’s about to become sweet gourmand goodness but somehow just stops right before that and confuses you with some saltyness, im guessing bacon? Thats the only time it makes an appearance but i was honestly hoping for a punchier, cooked, smoky sweet full breakfast bacon. Then it starts to settle into a beautiful rose scent. On the dry down sometimes i get all spun sugar, sometimes it’s a patchouli bomb. I like both so no complaints here. This is sort of the beautiful boozy complexity id expect from By Kilian btw. It does kind of remind me of Angel, not in scent profile but performance wise, you know how Angel tends to do that thing where it’s just rapidly changing it’s own DNA completely from spicy sweet to cold aromatic balsam, kinda like that. Overall it would be a fun one to have a full bottle of, for the days you’re just in the moooodddddd.

I love this one. On my skin, it is not anything like in the bottle, which made me sad at first. When I first apply, it is a little too bitter the first 10 minutes or so, but after it calms down, I get dark chocolate plus dusty dried red-black roses sitting in a vanilla-patchouli potpourri. I don't get as much booziness as I'd like, but it's there: let's add a glass with a little bourbon in the bottom next to the potpourri. Black Rose is a rich and challenging scent that I enjoy wearing very much. This is not my husband's favorite, who finds the papery-dusty note "sharp," but I like the kind of itchy peppery quality it amplifies in the rose, balanced against the amber-vanilla depths.

I got this as a sample and I was put off by the description. But on me, it's incredible. It starts with the gourmand that's not too sweet and dries down to the best rose in my entire collection. I also thought it'd be perfect to wear with a Sailor Moon-themed outfit. Pork (buns) and rose? .That's Usagi!!

I got Black Rose hoping there would be more sweetness, considering there are a few sweet notes in the make-up. But alas, if you are not a fan of floral, no other notes will save you. Don’t get me wrong, the Sucreabeille gang are expert fragrance creators, none are the same and all have their own theme. Black Rose is the gentle whiff of a wild rose, with the most subtle hint of vanilla in the background. This would be an amazing indie option for Lancome Idole, which is 2 types of roses, and vanilla, or perhaps Lancome La Nuit Tresor, which is Idole’s darker, nighttime sister. I wanted to love Black Rose.. I ALWAYS want to love rose fragrances.. but they never work out for me. Always a Like, never a Love. I imagine this fragrance would be dark green colored, with a swirl of warm white floating about it. If you like green, floral, rose scents, with a mildly moody touch, this one’s for you!

Gorgeous. Part of a collection with 6 rose scents, each with their own modern self aware fairytale, posted on Sucreabeille's website. This one...whoa, those notes, huh? The actual description lists creamsicle. And I was afraid, admittedly, of the bacon note. I really loath savory notes. But on me, its so beautiful. Nostalgic even, which is always a win. Florist fridge fresh red roses that never ever go stale or stuffy like many do. It holds onto that delightful, dewy, wet freshness. There is a lovely custard, creamy, vanilla and a slight, mouth watering "tinge" of crispy bacon that underlyes the floral vanilla just right. I'm definitely not one to like salty notes and I love this. It reminds me of carefree summer days in the 80s for some odd reason. Maybe because I lived near 2 flowershops growing up and I was known to open the fridge and stick my face in, inhaling the heavenly roses. I was always picking out flowers for teachers, secretaries, family friends... Agree with Mc13Kenzie, the patch holds those notes together. The patchouli is great here, again, I'm not partial to patchouli, but here it works. One of those perfumes that I keep getting whiffs of and am like, 'is that me? Yum'.

This one is a bit odd, but wearable. It opens with an unusual combination of dewy, green rose and muted custard. The dry down reads as amber on my skin with a peppery quality that I feel must come from the bacon and whiskey. The chocolate and vanilla are down played. This isn't especially sweet at any point. The patchouli acts like the glue keeping all of these disparate ingredients together. Though admittedly not always that well, as it changes quite a bit from beginning to end, creating awkward moments. Overall interesting to test.
