Fenaison

A beautiful scent centered on dried fruits and cherry-like tonka bean with bitter, aromatic wild herbs. Fits well on both women and men, though to me it leans slightly masculine. Not a downside for me - my husband and I will share it. The herbal (hay) note doesn't last very long, which is a pity. I really like it here; it's very fitting and balances the composition well. As it fades, the fragrance becomes spicier and warmer, turning somewhat resinous towards the base. My bottle needs time to settle after travel, and it will be interesting to try in cooler weather - maybe the hay will show up more and stick around. I hope so. I grant that someone might find overlaps with Tobacco Vanille, and they'd be somewhat right to do so, but this is an independent fragrance, by no means a clone. Either way, even if it is an homage, it's a good one. The bottles are also nice - minimal, classic, with faceted lids that look like bakelite, somewhat reminiscent of Naomi Goodsir. It doesn't deserve its current low rating, no idea how it got one. Worth a test.
