Baba Yaga

Incredible quality oils are used in this perfume. I am a man whose skin barely reacts to any fragrance, so I always have to purchase extracts (pure parfums are not enough), but somehow, this is the only fragrance where I would rather go with eau de toilette than parfum; it is so potent but just enough where it's not overbearing. The owner made sure everything was as high quality as possible; even the 2ml samplers come in heavy glass, which I've never seen before, but you can see they did not skimp on any part of the production of their fragrances. It has a classic smell, which some might call "old" or old-fashioned, but because of the pure quality of essences used, I think this still stands out and is easily wearable today. Unfortunately, Suleko's fragrances all lean more feminine, and I don't see a guy pulling this off unless he is alone at his house. I won't be purchasing, but if I wanted a classy or lonesome woman to have a high-quality fragrance, I would get her this. If anything, buy the sampler kit for 20 USD. Its an amazing purchase that I will still cherish and keep smelling because of its high quality and uniqueness. It brings me nostalgia when everything was made with class and to last.

Fragrantica please add black bottle (edt) Suleko Baba Yaga to the library. After trying hundreds of perfumes, I finally found the perfume I was looking for. This perfume is now my signature perfume. I tried Cécile Zarokian's perfumes Private Label, Remember Me, Tango and Djelem. None of them appealed to me except Pivate Label (Old Batch). Baba Yaga is a different story. This wonderful perfume is unique and indescribable. I bought the white bottle (edp), the black bottle (edt) and the Talisman set (edp). I still don't see enough, I need more bottles, but my budget is limited. The porcelain bottles of perfumes are really great, but I don't like the boxes. A more elegant box design that reflects the beauty of this perfume should have been chosen. Including talisman boxes. Suleko uses really high quality essences in its perfumes. For example, although I didn't like Djelem, the other Suleko perfume I tried (I think it appeals to older women), I easily noticed the quality essences in its content. A mystical beauty wandering in the forest in autumn, fascinating...

Opens with juniper, was hoping for orange, it is there it is quite subtle, and not really a sunshine orange juice kind of orange either but one that is darker and has more body to it. Get a hint of pepper. A little pachouli just in the background. Mostly juniper though. Very slight touch of leather. The juniper leans more to the plant than to the berry- kind of piney quality to it. Doesnt make me think of Baba Yaga at all except for maybe the woods. Makes me think much more of the American Southwest, which is where my familiarity with juniper comes from even though it’s more a Northern plant. Juniper breeze was my mother’s favorite scent so it also makes me think of her taking us kids to the great salt lake while wearing that.

It's my favorite of the four. I love this perfume house. Everything is deeply embedded in imagination. I agree that this perfectly captures the scent of autumn, but it goes further than that. It has some reminiscence with Djelem without the carnations, as though the two fragrances capture the same place during different seasons. It's very dry, a bit spicy, very aromatic, citrusy, fresh, all very natural. Like the others, it repeatedly opens itself up into new layers. I find the use of notes here to be really unique and wonderful combinations. I don't know what it is precisely but I really love this line of fragrances and know I will be buying a fortune in sample sizes to have around. 8.5/10

Smelling the edp, it is a very pleasant, herbal perfume. I was expecting more forest type of a green, but it really is more herbal than foresty. It is very well made, but I keep wishing it would be edgier. It is missing a little something to make it more interesting. Edit: I have now also tested edt. I don't remember edp that well anymore, but this is maybe a bit more aromatic. Although luckily citruses are not too prominent even in the edt. I have to say that I like this more than I remembered

This is the scent of autumn. This perfume perfectly captures the fragrance of the ideal autumn day. The smell of the crisp cool air, the dry leaves crunching under foot, the aroma of the herbaceous plants still clinging to summer at the waning of the season, the rich fragrance of freshly chopped wood for the awaiting fire that has just been kindled... it's perfect. The beautiful notes come together to recreate autumn in the most wonderful way. This is a masterpiece.

aromatic, fresh; juniper, nutmeg and cinnamon, pepper; made me sneeze but love it

Review from a spray sample: Baba Yaga opens very spicy and dark. Almost bitter. There is a hint of citrus as well, which gets a bit stronger as the scent progresses. Mostly I smell nutmeg, cinnamon and a very rough pepper in the base layer directly on my skin, bitter orange above that and orange sweet freshness on top. The scent turns a bit sweeter as it progresses. I also smell hints of iso-e-super in the base which becomes more apparent in the drydown. Performance is ok: sillage is moderate to heavy and longevity is moderate to long. Cecile Zarokian is becoming one of my favorite perfumers, I love how her scents are quite out there, a bit loud, and almost always spicy and warm. Of this scent, I enjoy the different layers of scent within the scent the most. On my skin it is very spicy, and the bitter orange makes it a bit masculine, which shifts into sweetness after the opening. I like that phase the best of this scent.

It starts with the freshness of the citrus (limes, lemon, mandarin, & slight oranges) with hints of red peppers, a very tiny bit of cinnamon, & quite good doses of nutmeg. 2 minutes and it turns into spicy citrus as the cinnamon rises up, nutmeg remains still, red pepper comes down, and black pepper first show. Later than 4 minutes it goes sweet citrus spices, as this stage we can imagine it as leather but it's not. Eventually, i have sniffed something similar to this fragrance somewhere but i can't remember which! It's like a typical cologne with sweet factor & doses of cinnamon & nutmeg Although the idea behind this fragrance is superbly amazing but i feel the inspiration doesn't fit this fragrance somehow! @nikoleta.. Well, if the idea of inspirations will be taken literally then i guess there won't be any creative things! Mafia, Dracula, Vampires, werewolves, Evil queens, wizards, witches, hunted houses, bogyman, and Mr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are just few inspirational personas that can build amazing stories, games, perfumes, and even movies for the sake of entertaining. You have to know this, this is how the mind of an artist works.

I almost loved this one. It started off gorgeous, definitely unisex but leaning towards masculine. A truly delightful and realistic woody forest scent with some great depth. Unfortunately, the drydown turned sickly sweet on me. I wasn't able to pinpoint one particular note as the culprit, just that the whole thing became cloying and overbearing. That may just be my skin chemistry though- this is really nice in every other way (sillage, longevity, etc) so don't let this review scare you away. It really is a great scent, just not for me!

Delightful notes..... One is lost in a fragrant forest! I can envision what this fragrance intends to say even though I have never had the great delight of experiencing Baba Yaga. Perhaps it would help Western perfume lovers to conjur up the tale of Hansel and Gretel, with an added note of Russian mystery added! This is all about a forest AND a fairy tale. Utterly unique. How often have you seen CLOVER in a fragrance release of late? If ever?!

Nikoleta1, you are clearly not familiar with true origins of Baba Yaga story. Baba Yaga originally was a supernatural midwife and a healer. And the "kids cooking" part was actually a ritual to heal them from sickness by carrying them over the fire. But after christianity was introduced, she was demonized into an old hag. Have you actually smelled the perfume?

Missisjoker - that is interesting. I know now she is known as a dark goddess/crone, those connotations don't bother me but it makes sense that the church would demonise her, as they did with any powerful woman, or woman who would speak out. I like the idea of some darkness though. Love the sound of the notes of this fragrance.

Baba yaga is a name of the evel old witch, scary and with a hanch back. she lives in the slam in the forest, without plumming and sanitation and cooks little kids and rats for dinner. can you imagine the aroma there? what kind of massage does this name and perfume carry?
