Aurum d'Angkhor

Now the oil on first application I noticed was thick as I applied it to my wrist and rubbed the scent onto my other wrist. The first note that greets you is a woody incense rose with the rose smelling luxurious and deep red. As the scent unfurls other opulent notes like saffron, ambergris, jasmine, tobacco all dance around this main rose accord. It smells very beautiful and fit for Royalty, the ingredients are breathtakingly beautiful. After about two hours the scent transforms into a dark resinous woody accord and this is where the magic happens. The Oud has come out to play and It's like your smelling a fragrance in 3D, you have dark resinous woods that are radiating spices. At the same time when you smell it you get the uplifting fruity aspect at the top end with the honey aspect and the back end with the resinous spicy woods at the centre. And because you are smelling all of the above at the same time it gives the Oud a multidimensional aspect to it's nature. Wow! To digress a little I was given a incense stick on a Sandalwood order from Pure Incense and was given this incense stick called Oud Safi and it had the same multi dimensional aspect to it. It had a uplifting candy sweetness on the front end and a deep resinous woods on the back-end but when you smelled it you smelled it all at the same time giving the scent that 3D depth effect. I hope you get my meaning. Anyway other notes start to come and go like a bloom of Jasmine, saffron out of the resinous multi dimensional Oud and it smells amazing. Eventually it transforms again and you have a swirling melange of soft spices, and this is where the Mysore Sandalwood enters centre stage and takes a bow. This swirling symphony of exotic notes mixing in with the creamy mysore is heavenly to the nose. Really holy grail material and the best smelling fragrance I have smelled in my life. And as a fragrance enthusiast it has been a honour to smell the the highest form of fragrance art, if this scent was a painting it would be a Rembrandt, if it was a musical composition it would be one of Beethovens symphony's, you get the picture. Anyway eventually the dark resinous woods come back to the forefront and dominant. A amazing achievement and absolutely gorgeous and even mystical like. Wow, I have enjoyed every moment wearing this and will guard my 1ml bottle like it's a precious rare diamond.

So I really think having corresponded with Mr. Pusha directly, that he sources much of what's in this perfume upon ordering. So I feel everyone whom orders a bottle gets something different. The opening for me was very animalistic oud and rose. After about 30 minutes it moves to the other way around, with the rose coming to the forefront. There is many other things I notice, but those 2 last three whole wear. The second part is crowd friendly, the first is not IMHO, so cool in the crib before going into the world. I'm a huge ambergris and labdanum guy, and that doesn't come into play until the dry down way into the wear. In the heart I get the tobacco and a little more sweet. The rose is Def jammy but also sharp, gorgeous to my nose. I think maybe the beginning of this review may have seemed like I'm not a big fan. The opposite is true. This is a real masterpiece. I was just letting the common nose understand this can be challenging. It's one my basic ass wife, hahaha, doesn't like. She can't take anything animalistic at. Anyone that finds this most likely is experienced anyways. I LOVE THIS ATTAR, it takes you on a journey, lasts forever, and presents about 1 arms length around you! This is indeed resplendent luxury that is "fit for a king"! I feel like I'm a denizen of the Angkhor Wat temple in the Khmer empire . . . wearing bright silks at a ceremonial dance. The Cambodian 'god-kings' with their fusion of spiritual devotion and creative ambition created the largest temple on earth. Sultan Pasha rivals them in his creation of one of the most opulent and exotic scents I've ever smelled. Golden lavish notes - jasmine that is like burying your face in a vine in full bloom, oud that oozes with burnished richness, resins and spices that would have made a man wealthy on the ancient trade routes. Only the rarest of the rare ingredients satisfy Sultan Pasha. He combs the world for the best, the most exquisite essences. His attars, made of concentrated perfume oils, expensive absolutes, CO2's, are drops of perfume ecstacy. And this one will take you to an empire in the place they call heaven on earth. Extravagant exotic beauty.

My first love from Sultan Pasha. This scent is almost painful to talk about: its beauty is beyond my power of description. Easily the most elegant and lovely floral that I own. Incredibly masculine but not in a macho way. Whenever I reach for it, I have to decide whether I can stand to lose anymore precious drops of this attar. I ask myself: Is the occasion equal to the scent? The best part of this fragrance is that it has hidden elements that sneak out and delight you. Sometimes it kicks up an oud, sometimes it kicks up smoke. But always it displays a regal, crystalline clarity that I’ve never smelled anywhere else.

Seductive jasmine, a golden warm honeyed oud, sweet earthy ambergris and citrusy smoky frankincense/lubaan. It is the best attar I have put my nose onto. The quality is exceptional, the blend is magical. Performance is good with soft projection. Thats the beauty of good quality attars. They never scream. Genuine craftsmanship that deserves the popularity it has gathered over the years. Highly recommended to those who are bored of the regular oud combos and to those who can never have enough !

Fruity tobacco melange. This is difficult to unpack. High quality naturals, undetectable synthetics, and incredibly dense and complex; like a flourless chocolate cake. It is a complex piece. Like listening to Gustav Mahler or reading the Odyssey, the beauty reveals itself over time. It reminds me of Patou 1000, not in notes, but in how much it challenges my brain to make sense of it.

Very very nice indeed magic in a bottle just waiting for the third batch which will have balanced jasmine with oud ... I don't know how someone can dislike this masterpiece to me it's either Adore or love no other options. Enjoy !

This is a rose heavy oud with amber in the background attar, quite beautifully blended . I am currently working my way through sultan pasha sample pack of 29 attars. Aurum D’Angkhor is nice its very nice but not full bottle worthy for me, i prefer Juriah its quite similar but juriah has leather and it performs better overall i feel. Performance on Aurum , i got around the 8 hours mark and sillage was soft for me.

Sadly I'm not enjoying this one. Thought the oud would be a lot more prominent - all I get is strong tobacco. The scent gives me headache.

Aurum D'angkhor is the fragrance from Sultan Pasha that holds the status of 'icon' from his house, and it's not hard to see why. Aurum D'angkhor is truly kaleidoscopic and regal in every aspect of it's being - two elements that I think can be described to every fragrance from this house - AD boasts the finest expression of a lot of core ingredients found in the truly shocking width of fragrances the house offers - from its floral, oud, spicy oriental, classic french masculines/feminines, etc. AD can be described by it's intense saffron, just as it can by its luscious and juicy rose - by dark woods, intensely fruity and slightly green Oud, just as its bold, herbal and crisp Jasmine - the waxy, sweet, animallic honey, just as the endlessly creamy and woody sandalwood. Truly, I could go on and on when it comes to the quality, variety, and beauty of the near-endless list of notes present in the incredible Aurum D'angkhor - but I imagine it would more helpful to try and describe what this perfect attar is like. This fragrance changes, and the more you wear it, the more you become certain of specific elements, but the more you are surprised by elements now expressing themselves in new ways. To me, more often than not the fragrance opens with a mouth watering saffron/rose combo with the rose in full bloom, so juicy, warm and full you could swear it was the rarest treasure this world has to offer. The saffron here makes you wonder aloud as to why you don't have more saffron-centric items in your life - it's bittersweet quality is perfectly attuned to the heavenly rose beside it for the saffron truly is as it should be: sweet and leathery while maintaining the rich and acrid tones that it infuses into the juicy rose. The oud is here from start to finish is an intensely fruity yet simultaneously warm, smoky and dark woody note which has patchouli and sandalwood facets, occasionally turning green or blasting full volume with a dark berry or fig-jammy like quality - this note also every once in a while smells edible, as if alongside the rose the two produce an effect so perfect in its opulent and gorgeous in their presentation that one almost feels as if they should be consuming it alongside wearing it - perhaps as the most expensive and delicious adult beverage that you have ever put to your lips. It's unnerving as it is so immaculate one feels anxiety about it disappearing as well as not being able to experience the totality in all the ways it should be that the user is drawn to use it in any way they can. There are for sure still waves of deep, dark honey, luscious creamy jasmine, and spiced somehow with a magnetic fusion of the spicier elements of saffron and the crisp accord from the bergamot. The jasmine seems to be sitting directly alongside the rose, as if they are a rare breed that accidentally joined to one flower more precious than the largest chunk of the rarest ore. The jasmine here occasionally feels like gardenia pre-bloom, or perhaps a more tame tuberose - it is crisp, green and spicy all while maintaining the overall 'white floral' feeling. Tobacco and Orange Blossom creep in every once in a while to add a spicy or sour (respectively) tinge the overall immaculate waves still hitting the user. All while the while the shamama at work here brings a truly joyful, spicy and sweet patchouli/hena/sandalwood combo which generate this creaminess that truly warms the soul, as if the light of the most gorgeous orange light cast upon ones most favorite and rare text as a snowstorm brews outside - you are drawn in, and heated as if sipping your favorite warm beverage which draws you into the text with each sip. The patchouli here is a landmark of splendor in ones olfactive journey - it is indeed a spicy and yet crisp and slightly dark patchouli, whose spicy facet is reflecting back the slightly animalic, earthy, vegetal henna all while the soft, warm, and milky sandalwood swirling the notes together, and the labdanum with it's slightly dark and resinous, animalic yet sweet and dry. The honey and beeswax here are dark, sweet, intoxicating, and every once in a while as if a waxy finish on a Donald Judd sculpture - simply flawless and transcendental. There's a wet-hay like accord and a benzoin accord in all of its warm and heaviness while yet somehow retaining its crystalline effect radiantly shining in the background to cast a burnt orange hue to the overall composition. Alongside this development, one finds that the orange blossom has grown in size, and indeed is projecting its sensuous and orange-honey radiant glow atop the jasmine and rose, who are still intermingling, and seem to be approaching the orange blossom, as if to add to the already gorgeous fusion. Yet, while all this is happening, the oud, and frankincense (which is another trademark note of Sultan Pasha's - one which is infinitely dark, spicy, and warm - one which calls more to mind that of omani hojari green frankincense rather than the generic 'incense note' found in most mainstream perfumery) that started off next to the rose have continued in their shape-shifting performance throughout and now alongside the majestic resisns and spices which come across as dark and golden - maintaining the reflection of quality which the whole fragrances projects in its every aspect: reality, holy, immaculate, and precious. This alongside occasional green qualities, which I believe to be coming directly from the oud itself, as well as the mouth-watery jam (which seems to be coming from some vague berry unlisted in the notes, and alongside the juicy rose.) As it dies down, you might smell a wisp of tobacco, as well as a salty-sweet brush with ambergris. One of the most bewitching and complex, everchanging compositions that I have come across. Sometimes it's spicier, others more honeyed, but for the most wears, it unfolds as this lush exotic floral bouquet with a huge Jasmine leading the way, Oud, Tobacco, and Ambergris in the base, Honey, and Rose to support the Jasmine, and Saffron and spices on the top. I've searched forever for a perfect Oud and Jasmine composition, and although this one is much more than that, it really plays that combo for the most part, I'd say Jasmine-Oud-Ambergris. My favorite use of Jasmine and Oud pairing for sure. Truly royal and opulent. It starts off very spicy, with Saffron leading the way, and a very high-quality one. A very spicy and hot, fiery opening. Very soon, the Jasmine hits you. Big, assertive, a bit green and creamy, with its narcotic flavor. The Rose and the Honey only provide support and help to round up the Jasmine's profile. The base is a thick, heavy melange of Tobacco, Shamamah, Cambodian Oud, and Ambergris. The Shamamh and the Ambergris play a huge role here, and the Ambergris becomes more prominent as time goes by, almost taking over the Oud and Tobacco. An attar that exudes Oriental wealth and luxury. This is a HUGE, NUCLEAR blend. Might just be the strongest perfume material I have ever tried. You only need a tiny dot of this to nuke an entire house. Therefore, it might be difficult to wear around people. I believe the price is very much justified, given the quality of this attar, and performance. A bottle will last for generations, especially if you are a collector, or own over 50 perfumes. In my opinion, one of the best Oriental perfumes ever created.

The opening has this slight faint metallic vibe, with a dull warm spiciness. For me it reminds me of my mums gold jewellery she keeps in a plastic container (old ice cream box, you know those 3 flavour combo's with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry), she keeps this plastic container in the kitchen, which holds her gold jewellery, along with some other miscellaneous items like a small tub of saffron (used sparingly in dishes made for special occasions), some band aids etc. And whenever I used to need a band aid, and open the container, I use to get a whiff off this dull spiciness with some metallic nuance from the jewellery, and thats what I get in the opening. As the scent develops, the faint metallic vibes eases, but the dull warm spices become less dull, the saffron now feels more blooded, and joined with is the most luxurious note of Jasmine. Unfortunately for me the jasmine doesn't last too long, and as the scent dries down it takes with it the warm intense spicy Saffron with is joined by a juicy woody accord, and a dirty slightly animalic Oud, maybe due to the henna note. This was a difficult review to conduct, as the scent was incredibly complex, it hits you differently on each wearing, with so many facets and complexities, it was difficult to identity just one accord. This is a very regal, and opulent scent, fit for royalty. The projection is strong for the first couple of hours, after which is becomes moderate, with a solid scent cloud. I usually do not appreciate saffron heavy fragrances, ever since I had a bad experience with PDM Carlisle I never sought out the note. This attar is the saffron fragrance I felt had to exist but didn’t expect to actually find in the real world. Insanely complex saffron/orange blossom scent with masterful balance and poise, it has also macerated very nicely in the tola and smells even better than when I first got the attar. Recommended if you like dry scents. The Cambodian oud is my favorite variety, it’s smooth and fruity, slightly sour and sweet. Here it’s been used masterfully to bring out facets of the saffron and tobacco. I get noseblind very quickly to this one, such is the potency of the concentrated ingredients. It’s one of the driest compositions I’ve smelled yet, with the jasmine keeping everything clean and dry. Then there’s the honey, which makes the oil cling to the skin for many hours, despite projection falling to only several feet after an hour or so. But again, maybe I’m just getting noseblind, I don’t know. Update: the maceration on this one has been really outstanding. It smells much more rounded, everything smells deeper, easier to wear now too. I’m loving how these oils develop over time. I get a lot of deep brown tones and mahogany. Some butter and lush jasmine that borders on intoxicating. I love to wear this in the morning and at golden hour outdoors for the most satisfying experience. The first hour is unbelievable, the jasmine’s quality is immediately identifiable as outstanding and unique

I am working my way through a sampler set of Sultan Pasha's artistry. Inspired by Aurum D'Angkhor one evening I composed this review. The Oud King offers his steadfast devotion to the Jasmine Queen's beating Rose heart while golden orange saffron threads weave a silken scarf that entwines them in a loving embrace. Rose petals float in the jasmine scented air and at their feet while regal splendor emanates from the central source, blessing all those within radius. Complexity and unity in a divine marriage of many facets. The opening for me was a crescendo of opulence and rich, golden, honeyed warmth. There is a stunning symphony playing in this composition. While the absolutely gorgeous jasmine and rose twins dance their regal yet seductive dance, it is the strong beat of the drums carried out by the base notes that drive the rhythm and support the dancers. A polyrthymic chorus of muscular drummers summoning Earth Spirits to join the dance. The rhythms and the color swirl and change, but the beat goes on while other dancers join in and weave their way in and out of the wooded clearing, their feet stamping the Earth to release an elemental, green light and dark sensual glory. For me Aurum d"Angkor evokes the kingdom of the natural world combining both regal and primeval elements in consecrated splendor. This was magnificent, a blended masterpiece of the perfumer's art. Bravo Sultan.

The first thing I detect in AdA is the green Indolic jasmine but what a beautiful jasmine it is, it doesn’t smell like Jasmine Grandiflorum or Jasmine Sambac, it almost smell like a combination of Jasmine and Tuberose. It is joined by a honeyed rosy sweetness with hints of Champaca and henna. This is followed by the complex Sultan’s signature base consisting of moist tobacco absolute with sweet beeswax absolute, Saffron, Mysore Sandalwood, ambergris, amber and probably dozens of other materials that I couldn’t isolate. These notes do not come at the same time but between each sniff I detect a different combination, this shows how complex this attar is. This base is combined with an incense-y sweet Cambodian oud with faint fecal nuances but to my surprise it is blended very well with the other materials to the point that I don’t consider it an oud focused attar, the oud is a part of the whole orchestra.

I've been giving a lot of my sample set another go, and this is the one that has spoken to me the MOST (from the ones I don't already have). The oud is seamlessly blended into the tobacco and what results is an entirely NEW ingredient. The spices and florals really add to it, too, and it's like NOTHING else I've tried before. Nothing. I originally baulked at the price, I must say, but when you love something, well, you love it, I guess... Seriously considering this. Like, SERIOUSLY.

Unbelievable. I'm going to have to come back when I understand it better. The second SP I've sampled and I've never smelt anything like either of them (including from amongst niche perfumers like Are Le Dore and Ensar Oud). I don't get tobacco.. or yet. One needle head's worth on the wrist and all I get are the most delightful yet (and I hesitate to say but I believe it's the correct word) 'raunchiest' honeyed florals. This man is gifted subhanallah.

This is glorious. It opens strong with a pungent sharp floral rubbery note.......very jasmine! After 5 minutes it softens and the Rose blooms, dripping in honey'd waxiness. Then a buttery note emerges and caramel Amber. After that comes tobacco weaving strands of richness into this rich sticky but not too sweet attar. After 25 mins or so it smoothes and softens and mellows. Lovely. Heady. Better in the winter.

I don't get ANY rose, any floral or ANY oud -- I get a mix of spices, not sure of what, exactly, but this makes me think of some sort of desi delight -- savoury of course -- and checking the ingredients I'm shocked to see that that there is nothing that I smell! Obviously I need to give this a thorough re-test, but what I smell, I like! I wonder what it is that I'm smelling...

I'm making my way through the full Sultan Pasha set of samples. This one is tough for me to evaluate because I generally do not like either honey nor tobacco fragrances, and those two notes are prominent. That said, this is clearly a high-quality, complex scent, even if not specifically my vibe. Juriah Privé and Fougère Noire remain my super-favorites in his line so far.

Very honeyed tobacco with subtle unique resins. My favourite so far from the brand, very sweet yet not overwhelming, leans towards a maple syrup-like scent. The type of oud and jasmine used both play into the honeyed sweet aspects rather than standing out. Sadly my nose seems to be sensitive to its scent, possibly due to allergies. @lukhoa This is an oil, not a spray. It comes with a plastic pole in the middle of the oil inside the bottle. You take that pole out, rub the liquid off of it on your wrists, neck, behind the ears, hands, & any where else you want. 3ml is regular for oils & it can last you, literally, months, depending on how you use it.

Such a complex and unique smell I've hard to wrap my head around it. @_fernmoss describes it as dry and I agree. It's also so potent that my 1ml will last me years as I at most dip a toothpick in and swipe it which will last the whole evening and have a glorious drydown into the next morning.

One question, with that amount of juice, maximum option is 3ml, so how many spray do we need when wearing this fragance ?

Heaven in a bottle..I am trying my first and I am getting the most delicious rose.

Sultan is one of the most talented perfumers nowadays. I love all of his work!
