Fougère Noire

Wow! Again Sultan just keeps giving these looks and it's a treat for perfume fans because he clearly blends with such skill and Passion. I don't really feel as though I have to blow smoke up the guys arse but not one of these attars is dominant in a single note, no matter how individually complex that note might be? That is rare in the world of these oils, to be so prolific at mixing elements and not getting mud or unfocused fragrances. These all have a brightness and clarity. So this is a fougere opening with a green lemon and lime citrus sparkling with elemi and pine. The general feeling is as green as the attar itself and gives an instant transportation back to childhood. I'm not sure if it's mine or a past life or a fantasy? but it feels like something I experienced whether waking or in a dreamstate. Strangely clean and mountain air like, the technicolour of the hills and mountain tops in a sound of music, but with a soapy forest floor, and mossy bark with fresh fungus peeking out...giving an almost psychotropic effect. The oakmoss element is there but not as strong as I thought it might be, but again that speaks to the blend of many materials coming together. Is there coumarin or tonka warmth there? That's what you have to ask with a fougere, or does it replace that sweet warmth with something else and I'd say this likely does but it's not as perceivable, although drying down to a lovely warm scent on skin with the most delicate barely there coffee note. I think it's fantastic and one of a few fougere's Sultan has in his collection some of which use less expensive materials.

My first from Sultan Pasha and I'm impressed. This is a beautifully balanced attar, that's somehow wonderfully green and bright from citrus as well. There's lavender and pine as well but it's all blended so well you can't always pick out individual notes. It all just works so well together. I'm excited to try to more now. Edit: I find myself wanting to wear this more and more. It's addictive and comforting. Sillage is big for the first couple hours and then settles down to make a nice scent bubble around me.

This is quickly and easily the best fragrance I've ever smelled. I don't have the vocabulary for these Sultan Pasha Attars because they're just so different from traditional commercial fragrances. This is woodsy, deep, clean, involving. I'll update this review as I come to understand this scent better, but in word, it's perfect.

This is most awesome. It just adds up to an experience where you want to go into a dark room and just focus on what your nose is telling your brain. It adds up to something that is so great. I can't really distinguish notes. There is lavender and castoreum and pine and nutmeg...but this just makes you feel so awesome.

An absolutely magnificent, emotional fougere with enormous depth. When my soul quivers upon encountering a new fragrance, it is safe to call it a masterpiece. This is a masterpiece.

Green freshy but with nutmeg overload and lavender in there. I really hate nutmeg so bear that in mind when reading this review and that nutmeg never lets up. Its there for the whole time. So this is a attar i was never going to enjoy sadly but it was in the sample pack. Performance was around 5 hours before it really started to fade and zero sillage and for once i was glad there was no sillage 😂

On my nose a mixture of 30 notes and more but still a classic fougerie. A well-played symphony that I don't understand. Bitter sparkling acid green. Mature, energizing. Step.

Yesterday i tried Fougère Noire, outside was around 3 celsius below zero, but it made me so heated that i was outside with open jacket. I tested 4 compositions from Sultan and some of them have cooling effects, some of them heating effects. Fougere noire smelled medicinal almost like hospital what freaked me out, cause my friends tell they are smelling hospital and they didnt know it was from me, so i felt uncomfortable, cause people are normally not enjoying this kind of smell and they have more bad memories with hospital than good. At the same time it gives me so much energy, that i went home from friends and there i started to do yoga and time for meditation. I cant look on it like perfume which are you wearing for social life, it is smell for spending time alone, with inner self. Its sounds little bit like some esoteric bullshit and im not really that type of guy, but this attar are giving me this kind of effect. i will prefer to use it as kind of spiritual medicine in times when i will be feeling bad or in times when i need to have more energy, to be more focused or do sport. The other thing is the minimal amount you need to use. I can imagine that one full attar can be for lifetime if you arent daily user. The longevity is ultra eternal, i can feel it after 18 hours after shower. This is crazy.

As the scent unfurls upon the skin you experience a earthiness like the forest floor in a dense forest. And quickly like the sun rising you get a host of complex notes all moving as one to caress your senses. Lavender, pine, lemon, amber, geranium, moss, bergamot and more. Out of this glorious swirling melange of notes rises a fantastic accord that just had me floored in amazement. (You got to remember the quality of the ingredients you experience is top notch). This accord smells like lily of the valley, neroli and jasmine and it comes together to dominant the scent above the host of notes. It smells most glorious and amazing. I've had the scent on my skin for nearly five hours from one swipe and though the projection is soft it's still going strong. I cannot express how good this smells. Where as Etude en Fougere which is also great is a bright Fougere this one is a bit darker.

I don’t know why but this to me is a better version of Areej le dore Baikal Gris..Awesome
