Real Superdry 01 For Men

If Aventus and Sauvage had a baby, this would be it. Not as sweet as Aventus, not as sharp as Sauvage—it's the best of both worlds. It’s like you’ve just run through a rainforest and ended up on a warm beach, sipping a mix of soda and champagne. Despite being an EDT, its intensity is quite strong, though its longevity is more pronounced on clothes. Easy blind buy.

This is insanely similar to Fragrance One Office for Men. However this one doesn't perform as good.

Ermmm...Well...Oh... Popped into a town (in the UK) today. Whilst there two of us did a fair amount of fragrance sampling and spraying on cards, whilst also trying to pick out my next Molton Brown - spoiler, it’ll be Labdanum Dusk EDP, to sit next to my beloved Dark Leather EDP. On the way back to the car, we passed The Fragrance Shop, and their standee for this new Superdry got me to go in and ask for a sample. I have less than zero interest in Superdry, but I knew the perfume was created by Nathalie Lorson so I was as keen as mustard. The lady said it only came in yesterday and gladly gave me two spays on one of their strips. Initially it was a pleasant enough, albeit nondescript fresh/citrusy opening. Walking away, and within two minutes I was sniffing the card again... “Wait, it’s not doing an Aventus is it?” “Yes, I think it is” “Oh no” “Oh dear” Cut to less than two hours later... “Wait, where’s it gone?” And that is the story we got off two sprays on a test strip on a hot day in the UK. I can’t say it’s a clone, but it certainly did “that thing” that Aventus (etc) does. That very very familiar thing. It wasn’t pineapple, but it suggested (whilst it was there) that it went to the same School. I had a sniff again in the car on the way home, and it was already vanishing. By the time we were home, it had almost gone, after one hour. Two hours later and that strip had nothing on it at all, I kid you not. However, the rest of the days strips and cards are still going strong, 7/8 hours later. And I know from a previous spray that the MB will be there for a few days. The price is good though, RRP £45 for 100ml. I fear it might need to be that cheap as one might be going through it like water. I urge you to pay me no mind and try to sample it yourself. I hope I’m wrong about the Aventus (etc) similarity, but in all honesty, it wasn’t around long enough for me to properly assess. It seems unlikely that that’s what Ms. Lawson would have signed off on, or agreed to create, so maybe, hopefully it was just a freak trick of the day? UPDATE: This is weird...about 19 hours later, and we’ve been smelling the cards again from the day before. Most others are still going strong, but now, if you stick your nose actually on the Superdry strip, we both agree that there is a whiff of sun cream (even more specifically, the bag that went to the beach with everything in it including all the sun creams, some salty dried sand and a shell) a smell that took me back to being covered in lotion on holidays when I was a kid (Ambre Solaire!) and no, it’s not very pleasant, doesn’t seem on purpose, and wasn’t there at all before, actually, nothing was. UPDATE UPDATE: After three days - all the other the strips/cards still have some pleasant noticeable fragrance to them, all as they basically were, fading obviously, but they’re all still there. The Superdry strip, having done a complete vanishing trick after less than two hours (the card smelled empty and like new until late the next morning) has smelled heavily weirdly unexplainably marine like for the past two days, and not in a way you’d necessarily want to smell. It’s an incredibly evocative scent memory, but a perfume it is not. The smell of the stale beach bag is still present, but it’s also been throwing up rock pools, sea water, sand, seaweed and sun cream. All in a dried up residual way - you know, the way the beach bag smells for the rest of the year. It’s that big wet shell you picked up with sand inside that you later find at the bottom of the bag a few days later with some dried up old seaweed that you were going to do something with, and it’s ruined your holiday paperback. I’ve never experienced anything like this with a perfume on card. I really want to try it again to see if the experience is the same. Bemusing.
