Attar Al Ghutra

This is a very nice oud-leather fragrance from Swiss Arabian. It opens with a good dose of oud then hints of raspberry, then the leather takes over all way through the opening and dry down. I can get bits of saffron and sandalwood, but they're all very well bended together to give that leathery and elegant fragrance. After 12+ hours, it can be quite smoky from the olibanum. The smoke mixed with the raspberry creates a shisha like experience. Those who mention a harsh opening, they probably shouldn't smell it up close and get too much oud in their noses. I think oud fragrances (or middle eastern oud blends in general) are made to be smelled in the air, not up close. For me this is a very beautiful and elegant scent, and cheaper than the likes of other brands such as Tom Ford Tuscan leather or Aqua Di Parma Ambra (considering the quantity of 100 ml). It is very potent and can be a room filler if you overspray. The sprayer/atomizer makes very small and localized spray which is intentional. This small spot is more than enough for everybody to smell you. The longevity and sillage are superb. The dry down lasts more than 8 hours on skin and for days on clothes. It's also more suitable to fall and winter, and even for formal occasions. Now I have to give credit to the amazing packaging and presentation. The beautiful Arabic calligraphy on the box is reflective and protruding. The red leaf-like markings on the box have a fabric texture to it. The box also has some poetry in Arabic, and an explanation in Arabic of what "Al Ghutra" means from a tradition point of view (is it actually what men wear on their heads in the gulf regions to protect them from the sun). Then when you open the box, you have the white bottle inside another box which has magnetic closure and a little red ribbon. I really love the attention to details, even on the bottle cap. This can be easily bought as gift for a man who is into leather fragrances, and I don't think it will disappoint.

Puts alot of my collection to shame performance wise and I own some heavy hitters that are certainly not run of the mill, I’ll put it this way, I sprayed once on a paper towel when I first got it and placed it on a table a foot away from the couch, the whole room smelled of it and two days later even though I threw the towel away the table still smells like it from a foot or two away. I would put this one into the commitment category because if you spray it and wear any jackets, sweaters, coats or the like it will be smelling like Attar Al for days if not weeks to come, I do not sense much Tuscan Leatheresque to me this stands on it’s own and is much much stronger. It’s much more Heavy and not as dirty or ashy cigarette like. No joke I can smell whiffs of it in the air feet away from the table after two days and I didn’t even spray it on the table, it’s super strong, I can’t stress that enough! If your looking for a nuclear powerhouse that is not all hype, I don’t like hype, you buy the hype and get the thing and it’s trash, then this one is definitely it but you need to like the smell of course, Attar Al is very specific, it’ does it’s job in it’s category. If I was in my 20’s I would probably not choose this but if it’s your thing then go for it. It’s not very sweet to me although it does have a brighter side if that makes any sense, also it’s very animalic but has a smooth persistent suede vibe like others have noted. It’s a definite powerhouse that is to be reckoned with, 5 sprays and holy hell you’ll be choking rooms out. I go heavy on most I own, but stuff like this there is absolutely no need. I need to give it a few proper wearings for a more in depth review but my initial impressions are about the never ending strength which is enormous, anyone nearby will definitely smell this one on the wearer. Well, it’s been a few more days and that table stills smells of the stuff from a few feet away, it’s otherworldly in persistence!! 10 out of 10

I discovered Oud for the first time 3 years ago, smelling a sample of this perfume. It blowed my head away. Put a smile on my face immediately. That was the smell I was looking for a long time. Not for young men (35+), not for sweet or easy going smells fans. Not for compliment seekers either. Not for the timid or insecure. If you care to attract people, compliments, or always being the nice guy, avoid this. That profile of man is not congruent with this perfume, and you will end looking silly and dumb. For occasions when you need to put a clear and blunt Leadership statement, without questions or permissions, ready for a fist fight. You arrive at a meeting or reunion with 4 sprays of this, calmly, secure of yourself and your intentions, well dressed, and you are saying "I'm here, I'm the boss, if anyone don't agree with that, let's go outside and let me show you why". No hesitations, no smiles looking for validation. That is what you get in a perfume with Oud on all layers, and add leather + saffron + pachouli. If you let this macerate, the rose and the raspberry will be at the very very bottom of all, accentuating the blunt masculine side of the rest of the notes. I like this so much (at this time I'm 57), being a high level director in my company, and having past my "pleasing - hunting women" phase long ago, that I have 3 bottles. WARNING: After maceration, no more that 4 sprays, or you will become the eye of a pestilent hurricane for the next 6-8 hours, and the persons around you will start a mutiny, to get rid out of you, in the most gross and cruel manner possible.

Sweetish, spicy oud right away, along with raspberry and some leather. A lot of people are saying they don't like the opening of this fragrance and only endure it for the dry-down, but I actually think the opening's great. It's a pretty linear fragrance; it gets a bit smokier as time goes on. On me, it's not overwhelmingly strong, but it lasts a very long time (a full day on skin and several days on clothing) and projects reasonably well. I only use a few sprays under my shirt, which could be why I don't find it overwhelming. I think it's appropriate for any season, but more so the colder ones due to its depth. This is, of course, an imitation of Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather. I compared it to the original along with another popular imitation, Rasasi's La Yuquwam Homme. LYH was much closer to TL, but with cigarette and cough syrup scents I disliked. This fragrance, on the other hand, I actively prefer to TL. It's more tart and slightly cleaner than TL, and has a distinct oud note absent from the original. In conclusion, I'd highly recommend this to people looking for a smoke/leather/fruit fragrance with good performance at a great price. If you're looking for a dupe of Tuscan Leather, there are closer options, but I think this fragrance wins out on its own merits.

I really enjoy this leather fragrance because although the other notes make their appearance and presence known, the leather never takes a back seat. It's a mild leather, "wallet leather" if you will, as opposed to something smokier or the kind of leather that smells like they didn't quite remove all of the animal from it. If you like that kind of leather at the heart, this is for you. I get more raspberry than what the note hierarchy indicates, prominent just underneath the leather/suede. This is fine for office wear; it's not weak, but it's not overpowering by any means. Although clearly suited for the colder months, this would work fine in the Spring and all but the warmest Summer days too. Another outstanding effort by Swiss Arabian.

Anyone who says this is a clone of Tom Ford Tuscan Leather is completely wrong. There is indeed leather, but it's blended in the fragrance, and the two evolve around a complete different world. Tuscan Leather is pretty linear, whereas this one continues to evolve each hour. The opening is a bit harsh indeed, and unfortunately, I became a bit anosmatic to the dry down ( one of the fragrances I wore the most ) so I tend to not reach for it a lot these days. The more I dive into the world of fragrances, the more I think its worth to invest in a high quality one instead of multiples cheap perfumes, with more natural than synthetic aroma chemical ingredients, as I feel that synthetics are starting to get on my nerve ( literally ).

All those western socalled fragrance brands (boss,gucci,d&g,dior and others) have to learn from Swiss Arabian how to make quality perfume to make customers more then happy,,, Western socalled fragrance brands only selling water in the bottle and what we pay in store is just paying for bottle not for fragrance because their fragrance is total disaster,lasts only 5 minutes or less but cost arm and leg... This perfume is pure perfection right from the opening to the close and i think it’s one of the most beautifully leather scents in the world! Masterpiece in a bottle -no joke-. What Swiss Arabian has to say: ‘Attar Al Ghutra is a tribute to the fascinating traditions and the people of the Arabian land. Love this oriental leather comparable to Arabi Cana or Cuoium. Just as an aside note, I did a little comparison of the sprayers of this "beast mode" Attar Al Ghutra and a fairly weak Banana Republic's 83 Leather Reserve. Turns out that 8 sprays of Attar Al Ghutra roughly equal (in fact a tiny bit surpass) 15 sprays from Leather Reserve, quantity-wise. So, if you spray them equally (in the number of sprays), you just sprayed twice as much Attar on yourself.

I just got a sample of this masterpiece in the mail. This is a well-made leather composition. A warm leather and amber envelopes one like a warm loose garment. I sense some tobacco and incense notes even though they are not listed as part of this work. The jasmine and geranium are not noticeable but I think that they soften the leathery effect to create a more balanced aroma. I would love to have a full-size bottle of this!

Middle. Eastern. Perfection! This is incredible Middle Eastern perfumery. Takes inspiration from Tuscan Leather with Oud and raspberry notes. The fragrance is definitely beast mode and lasts 12 hours, easily! I love this scent, only time I wouldn’t wear it is in the middle of summer during the day, otherwise go for it! 3 sprays max! Rate: 5/5 Recommend: Must Have!

My God! This is the most potent juice in my entire collection. It has a monster sillage, projection & longevity. One spray is enough for the whole day. This is so strong that I have to spray this on my trousers, otherwise it will induce a headache.

Strong leathery and harsh opening ( not synthetic tho ) The dry down...is one of the most beautiful one I've smelled in any fragrances. The dry down is the real deal, and it stays on clothes for weeks.

Am I the only one that smells Rose Exposed by Tom Ford? But a more enhanced version with extra SILLAGE!! Smelled it on my friend and wore it once, can't wait to get one in my collection!

A bit of TF Tuscan Leather. A bit of Rasasi La Yukawam, but less smokey and with a more pronounced raspberry note. I really enjoy it. I wish it was stronger, though. It seems to fade after a couple of hours. Instead of smoke, it has a dusty, spicy vibe that I find pleasant. A nice blind buy for me.

I don't know how to evaluate this fragrance. I was shocked when I first put it on my skin. After few minutes the sharpness of the leather becomes more soft. It's definitely not a regular fragrance. You may love it or hate a lot.

Good perfomer like the leather aroma!!

Similar leather aspect to Dior Fahrenheit, but with some of the saffron-orange-bergamot that you get from Mancera Instant Crush during the opening. The drydown is more solely focused on the leather. Unfortunately the saffron-orange-bergamot side is too harsh and the leather side simply does not smell that good (my opinion on Dior Fahrenheit is the same)

Is my nose broken ? or I smell some of silver mountain water in this juice? In fact i've never smelt tuscan leather but from what I heard it's a dark leather fragrance, but this swiss arabian is far from dark or leathery , it's bright ,woody with a light suede and a metallic note that evokes SMW.

dry tobacco-ashtray meaty-leather with something too synthetic and not nuanced enough for this overwhelming type of perfume. disturbing and nauseating

I agree with Sinful Delight. I bought this last year before this hype even came about and it was shocking at the price point. I found it thin and of poor quality. I don't mind synthetic fragrances as long as they smell good and this just had a cheap quality to it. In my opinion when I smelt this, I thought it was cheap smelling, mediocre leather scent. It has something scratchy and harsh in it, I've smelt a similar sort of note in cheap copies of Paco Rabanne one million. In fact, it's awful. It's that bad I had to sell it at half price through e-bay the next day just to get a bit of my money back. This doesn't smell anything like Attar Mubakhar either. That scent's about 5th of the price and is of better quality. The only 2 scents from Swiss Arabian I've tried that are any good, are Mubakhar and Nawaf. This honestly smells like a £10-15 fragrance, and it's not even a well done £10-15 fragrance either. Really at the price point, it's absolutely shocking. These people who are hyping this are either paid by Swiss Arabian or need a new nose. I've noticed Swiss Arabian are getting more coverage in the fragrance community via youtube reviews, which means The Company has invested a lot of money on their promotion of their products "giving away free fragrances to reviewers", more than likely in conjunction with money for a good review. If I was you I'd sample this first before buying it. You have been warned ! "mash up all 3 Tom Ford Private Fragrances" Ludicrous. The outer packaging of those fragrances is worth more in terms of quality than the juice inside this fragrance. Nowhere even close. When I mean nowhere, I mean nowhere. You're either on Swiss Arabian's payroll to sell this fragrance or you need a nose transplant.

I am a loyal TF Tuscan and Ombre leather fan and I also have a couple fragrances from the Swiss Arabian lines, so I bought a bottle of AAG few months ago out of curiosity and based on positive reviews. First spray I thought this was beastly strong and the opening greeted me with a burst of raspberry and leather but immediately, my nose catched this smoky cigarette ashtray vibe so the first encounter was pretty off-putting to me but still, I’m curious and intrigued so I gave it some time. I waited for a few days and revisited the bottle again. It was morning I recall, so my olfactory senses were well rested and ready for another sniff test. After I removed the cap and about to spray, that ashtray cigarette butt vibe greets my nose and I didn't even spray it on, so I decided to throw it away 🙁 After a few days, I thought I regret throwing it away coz there’s something in the scent that I missed and I couldn’t describe what it was 🤔. Even though the initial burst was so appalling to my nose, I don’t know why I reordered another bottle and want to give it another chance to grow on me. I am guessing and as what other reviewers mentioned, the magic is in the dry down so let’s wait and see. Just got a bottle of this one yesterday and I sprayed some on my skin and you can smell the leather but there is a strong medicinal smell as well at first that was really off putting. However, after you let it settle down for about 20 minutes, the medicinal smell starts to dissipate and the leather really starts to shine. In fact the leather note is consistent throughout the life of scent. Once you get through the opening, this frag is really good. Projection, longevity and sillage is definitely a beast on this one. *Update: Attar Al Ghutra is becoming one of my go to cold weather fragrances. The dry down on this fragrance is outstanding and garners me many compliments. I can still smell this fragrance on the collar of one of my jackets that I wore WEEKS ago. It smells sooo good.

This fragrance is named after The Ghutra (or shemagh or Kufiyyah) which is a traditional Arab headdress fashioned from a piece of square, usually cotton cloth, typically worn around the head and neck. So you are walking through an ancient Arab city Bazar and a very rich old Arab walks by you leaving behind a trail of smoky leathery sandlewood and dark incense fragrance. That's Attar Al Ghutra. It is solid hard core Middle Eastern winter fragrance so be careful when you wear it and not more than 2 to 3 puffs as it will take over every other fragrance coming into its path. It's a beast in terms of projection and very long lasting.. A must have for all the daring fragrance lovers as you may not have anything like it in your collection.

Very difficult and hard perfume . The leather accord is almost fecal , resembling to Aoud Cuir Arabie ́s one . On the positive side , it's true that it has more nuances , and the very tiny sweet note make it more wearable ... but if you don ́t like very strong woody and leathery accords you are likely to be in a trouble with this perfume :) . I don ́t find the resemblance neither to Amber Absolute nor Tuscan Leather , I can ́t speak about Purple Patchouli since I haven ́t tried it . The performance is high , in terms of lasting and intensity . Edit ; i ve realized that i own oud Ghutra not the Attar so the review is for the first one .

This is a beast mode fragrance, this is easily my most complimented fragrance. Something about the oud, patchouli, fruity smoky notes seems to draw in the ladies. Easily lasts 8+ hours on my skin, with a insane sillage . DO NOT PURCHASE if you aren't a fan of middle eastern fragrances, as this will make you smell like Saudi royalty. Price is unreal for what you receive, and if it counts for anything, it comes in a beautiful box perfect for shelf storage.

I wanted a perfum which smells exactly like the bakhoor malik al oud from al haramain with a perfume version i taught this version will be more luxurious than khulassat al oudh from al haramain unfortunately it wasn’t after the first spray you smells intensefull , and incredibly well however it fades quickly too fas like 20 - 30 minutes i was disapointed , It encouraged me to stick to niche perfumes only

There is a different scent by Swiss Arabian called."Shumoukh Al Ghutra" ( I own this)..that smells way "heavier" than Attar Al Ghutra. Maybe the two are being confused. The Shumoukh one (red bottle) is not listed on Fragrantica. To me, the Shumoukh one is more of a vibe of Tom Ford Ombre Leather...but more intense...???... The Attar Al Ghutra is more fruity/woody..IMHO. Both are awesome, just sayin.....

My God this is a gem from middle Eastern perfume house... Longevity is 12hours+ on the skin... Unlimited on the clothes... Sillage is solid 8hours + U got a use it to believe it... Awesome for the cold nights party. It's crowd pleasure... U will be separate from others as it is not famous in Western countries... But it's very famous in Qatar...love love love...!!!

Just passed by the Swiss Arabian booth in Dubai and tested this scent. This time I dont agree with youtube reviewer Ashton aka Gent Scent's ultra hyping of this fragrance. This scent has a synthetic drydown that I dislike. The best fragrances from Swiss Arabian in my humble nose's opinion, is still Casablanca and Valencia. 6.5/10

Weak juice. DO NOT believe these people claiming that one spray fills an entire room or that it gives them headaches, they are just promoting this scent for whatever reasons. I purchased mine from a uk authorised retailer 'Notino.co.uk' and this is a skin scent at best. Scent: 7/10 Longetivity: 8/10 Projection: 6/10 Sillage: 5/10

In my humble opinion, this is the best offering from Swiss Arabian House. Agree with @kcholakov, it has that resemblance to La Yuqawam but later it transitions into this alpha male tobacco-ashy-leather beast. It lasts and lasts on the clothes. Best suited for the colder months.

This is good. REALLY good. The opening is similar to Tuscan Leather as many people have noted, but it’s much more wearable and the dry down (which last 24 hours) is similar to Roja Dove Saudi Arabia, which i own. At $400 less, I would wear this much more often than the Roja.

It reminds me of La Yuqawam by Rasasi but less sweet. Precise sprayer. Good performance. Update: after wearing this a little but more...I absolutely love it. It's a masterpiece.

Shumoukh (the red bottle) is the best of the al ghutras, youll thank me latter. This is ok, but im not a fan of the suede smell.

More masculine than tom ford tuscan leather and that is because of the oud on all the notes This just smells beautiful
