Oud 07

This is oud for people who don't like oud I think. Jordi Fernandez created this for SwissArabian in 2021 and from the outset it is a populist, very easy to wear and quite familiar take on the rose and oud theme. I do like the rose in the opening. It is jammy and bright with a sweetness filtered by the minerality of the saffron in this. The vanilla isn't so much one note but a slew of them across a theme: akigalawood, Iso E Super, a musky sort of quite restrained amber and some vanillin accords in the base. It makes Oud 07 very smooth and polished in the base and drydown but it is really interesting that you do not get any of the synthetic oud flavour until about 30 minutes in. It manifests in a much lighter way that you tend to expect. It is sour but in a nice way and very subtle. There is no farmy or challenging angle to this whatsoever. As someone who leans into the deeper and darker ouds and genuinely loves the barnyard vibe so decried by many, this puts me in a quandary here and I think speaks to the issue I have with this fragrance. I love the way it is put together and I do think it is one of the better blended and more balanced "oud" and rose fragrances out there. I bought a bottle for a colleague of mine in Greece and it may be more up her street than mine. I find myself wanting more of the nastiness. I want this to be darker and more difficult. It is nice enough as it is and you could actually wear this to the office which in this case I’m not sure is the compliment that determination usually is. But I think for evenings and nights out I'd layer this with something darker. So to sum up: Oud 07 is a lovely and charming fragrance that leans feminine and is very well-blended and executed, but that frustrates in that it is supposed to be oud front and centre and I get very little, or certainly not enough of, that oud accord in it. I wonder if it may improve a little after some more months of maturation. Three Word Summary: Need More Oud Layering suggestion: The one that immediately springs to mind is UAE Oud by Taif Al Emarat which is just this glorious, almost cheesy, black-as-night rich oud that you will never forget. I also think Velvet Oudh by Rituals (which is one of my favourite ouds and absolutely ludicrously underrated by the way) would go amazingly as a base layer for this to go over the top of. Outfit suggestion: an oud fragrance with shorts and a polo shirt during the day? Say it ain't so... Scent - 6/10 Drydown - 6/10 Sillage - 5/10 Bottle/packaging - 8/10 Performance - 5/10 30/50

Oud 07 smells high quality right from the start. The rose is realistic, vibrant, and clearly the star. The oud sits alongside it, clean and smooth, but the rose punches through with strength. It is not a dated or powdery rose. It feels modern and refined. At the opening, saffron adds a slightly sweet edge. I do not detect vanilla yet, so the sweetness may come from praline paired with the saffron. The rose remains powerful, the oud stays present, and the sweetness lingers underneath, tying everything together. It immediately reminded me of other rose and oud scents I have tried. Aaron Terence Hughes Onyx Extreme comes to mind. That one feels darker but shares a similar clean oud note. Onyx Extreme’s rose leans slightly wet, and overall it smells higher quality than Oud 07, though they smell close and definitely in the same family. Oud 07 projects more strongly and carries a touch more sweetness. Oud 07 is definitely worth the money. Even though Onyx Extreme is higher quality, its price is much steeper. When you factor in cost, Oud 07 delivers better value.

I love this line from Swiss Arabian. Id like to try the Musk 07 and Amber 07 next. This fragrance is rich, decadent and complex. The raw materials used seem to be of the best quality and it just smells like advanced perfumery. There is a relationship to Rose 01. They smell like they have similar notes in them but not close DNA. I also love Rose 01. This scent has a gourmand quality to it without being a gourmand. Something in it is reminiscent to Angel by Mugler. The rose and praline smell like the strongest notes in the composition. Edit: I just resprayed my Oud 07 and I think the maceration that has been going on over the past month has made this fragrance too much for me. The gourmand notes have subsided and the Oud, akigalawood, and amber have taken a turn and turned slightly medicinal and I'm getting a bag balm note that I do not like. Sigh. This was so good out of the box too! Turns out the only one I love out of this line so far is Rose 01 and I LOVE that scent still.

This is GORGEOUS! The notes looks similar to Shaghaf oud but no it doesn't smell like it at all. And yes I can see the similarities to red tobacco. First spritz is the sweet rose and safron, which smells like Oud Satin and then it gets deeper. You get the amber and the oud. The oud is smoky not stinky. It's sweet but not sugary sweet. It's sweetness is derived from the praline. For those who don't like rose dominant perfume this will be perfect. You only get the sweetness of the floral but not really the rose. This is absolutely unisex. Smells amazing on husband and I love how it smells on me. The quality of this fragrance is outstanding! 2nd day of having this and I might be getting obsessed! Just like the Rose 01, longevity and sillage is impressive. I love this series from Swiss Arabian so much. I'm getting the Musk 07 next!

Oud 07 Swiss Arabian is a very nice middle eastern fragrances. Its quite unique in the Rose and Oud scent profile. My wife has the Rose 01 and these 2 fragrances are not too far apart. Performance is good on both Rose 01 and Oud 07. This is not your typical designer fragrance, it leans more middle eastern. But damn it is good. Very high quality, rich flavor, longer lasting, i get tons of compliments on this one. I love it.
