Private Oud

Starts off sweet and vague. At first, you worry it will be all sugar, no structure. However, after it warms and stabilizes it's plum and chocolate, just a delicious combination. I don't get much oud despite the name. Maybe it is private oud, so private you can't detect it. But the plummy chocolate lasts for about ten hours, indefinitely in fact, it's just that after ten hours I have washed it off and changed clothes or something. There is also a clean floral note almost watery, like a note from the original Halloween perfume, weird but it adds to the enjoyment. You have to be patient and give this CPO about 30 minutes to bloom. Don't judge by the first sniff. Edit 12/26: Just tried a decant of Terra Mia by Carthusia. This is so close. No fragrances are ever exactly alike, but these two are really close. Terra Mia is smoother. Private Oud smells like a down market Terra Mia. Definitely a bitter coffee note in both, and a LOT of tonka. Just can't decide whether I like that much tonka.

I ordered this and the floral perfume oil from Amazon last year, when I was just becoming a frag head. I had no idea what oud was when I bought this, but I think I have a better idea now and I really don't smell that scent in this. I have Roja Aoud, Amber Aoud, Enigma Aoud, Sweetie Aoud, and Taif Aoud, MFK Oud Silk Mood Extrait and Oud Satin Mood EDP, Louis Vuitton Myriad, Ombre Nomade, Nuit de Feu, Nouveau Monde and samples of Fleur du Desert and Les Sables Roses, Bond No 9 Nomad, samples of PDM Haltane, Montale Oudmazing and Oud Tobacco, Xerjoff Alexandria II, and I tried one of the Amouage oud attars at Neiman Marcus last summer. I still haven't tried pure oud oil yet, but that's my reference point so far lol This scent oil smells really sweet and like fresh caramels or something, but I don't get any of what I think oud is. These are my only two scent oils in my collection so far, but I definitely don't regret spending the $20 to order it from Amazon!!!

When I first smelled this i thought i couldn't pull it off so I gifted it to my husband because I loved it so much. I really like the dark chocolate in this. it's fantastic! I kept stealing it from my husband so he just went ahead and gave it to me. LOL! Please do not judge this on the first whiff at it takes about 20 minutes to unfold but well worth the wait. It is hard to find for a reason and always sold out online. If you enjoy oud you will appreciate what they did here. It's and oud gourmand at it's finest. I don't get the comparison to Casablanca which is much sweeter and more edible. The chocolate in Private Oud is deep and more dry.

Opens with a photorealistic chocolate with vanilla. As it dries down, the oud becomes ever more present. There's some fruity and floral notes that can be picked up at the dry down, but they are overshadowed by the sweet gourmand notes. This is by far the most chocolatey fragrance I have ever smelled. It literally smells like a chocolate candy bar. Vanilla is the second strongest note, followed by oud, but the chocolate is a very dominant note in this fragrance. If you were looking for an excellent chocolate gourmand, you definitely need to try this one.

Love this. The Oud, Tonka bean, dark chocolate and vetiver notes are very charming, making this a dark, sweet and masculine scent. Oils are great because the linger on the body, and this is no exception. Interestingly, I am not getting a dominant showing of the floral scents, which suits me just fine. It lasts even longer if it ends up on your shirt. Unlike most scents, all the notes stay consistent even at the drydown. I always get compliments whenever I wear this. Excellent value for money too. Rating: 10/10

This is decadent, opulent, and rich! It's a darker, deeper version of Swiss Arabian's Casablanca but with rich oud and chocolate notes and plum instead of apple. They become more similar after wearing Private Oud for a couple of hours. This would be great to layer with many fragrances and definitely lasts all day.

If you do not like Oud then this is not for you! I love this oil. This a unique Oud with chocolate. Then combination of rose, Oud and chocolate gives it a sweet aroma on my skin. I need this in perfume!!

Let me preface this with I have an extremely untrained nose, and I am definitely not known for my ability to detect notes... I'm going to describe it from my perspective, in case it is helpful to someone who maybe is more novice like myself! Anywho, for me, I am not loving the smell right out of the bottle. It almost comes accross a bit "screechy" to me (I'm not actually certain what that word means in perfume, but I think I'm using it correctly). Anywho, I am not the biggest fan the moment after it's applied to my skin. But once it dries, it smells of rich, deep chocolate... I'd been wondering what a chocolate perfume or note would smell like... now I know! Literally, chocolate. Anywho, once it dries, I find it to be quite pleasant. The oud is not overwhelming but it's there, I'd say it's safe for people who maybe are not full-blown oud lovers... but I'm an oud lover, so take that with a grain of salt. The thing that is confusing me here is that I am getting a strong incense note. I am aware that it's not listed in the notes, and I haven't read other reviews to see if anyone else is getting that... but to me, I get a stron incense note on opening, which progressively fades throughout wear and eventually disappears. This fragrance definitely gives me middle eastern vibes. I'm not sure how I feel about the whiff of incense I'm getting, but seeing as it goes away, it's not really an obstacle for me! I am struggling to figure out when I will wear this fragrance... I am more of a floral girlie... and am extremely girlie. My view is that this perfume is unisex all the way... and I love that, I'm just not sure if my vibe matches the fragrance. I think I can get away with it in the cooler months, I think this fragrance will be a banger towards the end of the year! I can totally see myself wearing this for Thanksgiving or something.... noting that I don't enjoy spicey fragrances.. this has a pinch of spice, but an amount that is tolerable for me! I heard someone say that this is a clone of (dupe for) Oud Wood by Tom Ford. It is not. Just to be clear.. I am not sure why anyone would say that, but if anyone reading this review is here thinking that to be the case... I can assure you, it is not! (try Woody Oud if you're looking for a Oud Wood dupe). All and all, I enjoy this fragrance. It is very unique in my collection! I wore it to bed last night on my wrists and it's 9am the next morning and I can still smell it. Staying power is remarkable, though I can't help but questions whether it will project.

I'll explain this in terms of other Swiss Arabian fragrances: Dehn El Oud Malaki is the pure oud fragrance, Shaghaf Oud is the pure wearability, and this Private Oud is somewhere in the middle. The oud in this smells exactly like Dehn El Oud Malaki but this has chocolate, vanilla, and florals to make it more mass-appealing and wearable. They definitely succeed at making it more appealing but still nowhere near Shaghaf Oud. So just as I say this is in between Dehn El Oud Malaki (1 star) and Shaghaf Oud (5 stars) then I give this 3/5

headache inducing and though unisex, leans more towards masculine.

I’m just gonna say it... this shit is awful. Yes, the gourmand notes a present but there is something very weird in its composition that makes this thing not a tragedy. I love Swiss Arabian but this needs to be discontinued.

This is a hot piece of garbage. Don’t waste your money on this. Synthetic and just overall very, very, very bad.

Very close to Abdul Samad al Qurashi Caramel Body Oud. The ASAQ product is moderately more expensive than the Swiss Arabian perhaps because its applicator has a pump action whereas this is a regular glass dipper (with included roller ball option). Both are perfectly revolting. I wish I was getting Chocolate Greedy from his but it's a monstrous synthetic mess even next to tough competition from Montale.

It’s really off putting at first but after 5 minutes it unfolded into a beautiful, sweet, rich scent. Not something I would normally go for but I think that’s why I’m enjoying it so much. I also didn’t pay for it so the stakes were pretty low for me, not sure this is something I would ever buy but I’m glad I have it. Might become my go to for a night out
