Opens with a sweet gourmand honey. Then cinnamon quickly comes to the forefront; Needless to say, the opening is quite sweet and gourmand, but after a few minutes, the Oud comes out in the transition, right in the center. The Oud is a sweet and woody Oud (similar to Initio's OFG). As the fragrance dries down further, it settles down to a sweet, woody, and earthy Oud. A beautiful fragrance! The composition of this fragrance is rich, with the right amount of complexity, but not overwhelming. Excellent for colder months (especially winter holidays) and a great date night scent. And totally unisex. Just be aware that this is a gourmand fragrance, so not very fresh or floral. As for comparison to the EDP spray, the oil certainly smells similar but they are different in composition. The EDP takes longer to develop and transition whereas the oil goes from top notes to base much quicker. As for projection, the EDP has a faster projection (but not stronger); the oil takes some time to project, so you'll have to be more patient, but the oil is by no means a weak projector. As for longevity, I assumed the oil would be longer lasting, but honestly, they are about the same. It really comes down to preference. I've recently gotten into fragrance oils, so I was very excited that Swiss Arabian makes an oil version of Azraq, as I love the EDP on the first sniff, I will certainly enjoy the oil.
