Oscarine

One of the nicest woody-floral aromatic spring blends on the market! As a fan of Sylvaine I blind ordered it when it was released, and during autumn/winter I couldn't resist spraying it sometimes, though I knew it would be best in spring. So now almost half of my flacon is allready gone, too early... Orange blossom blends so perfectly with the fruity but not-at-all-gourmand facets of élégant raspberry and black currant, the cypress-Bergamotte Hinoki-like touch adds an oriental facet to the aromatic woody base under the supervision of this fantastic orange blossom Absolu. A masterpiece !

Again, for some reason I had a dislike emoji on this review, and I liked all the orange blossom collection. I must have hit the wrong emoji when I first posted these reviews. I decided to test this line again because they kept popping up in my mind. I'm trying to be more selective about buying but this orange blossom collection has been nagging at me. So, I deleted this review and the one for Ozkan and decided to retest and rewrite them. The funny thing is I like Oscarine a lot better now than when I first tested it. I liked it but now I really like it. It reminds me of another perfume that I have tested and own a small decant of VanCleef by VanCleef & Arpels. A real beauty that has been discontinued and I cannot get a full bottle. Oscarine is a contemporary version of VanCleef. Aromatic, fruity, a bit savory, a little sour, a bit powdery. It has that late summer, going into fall smell that appeals to me. I have other perfumes that fill that bill as well but I seem to be attracted to them. There is something of the farmer's market here. A farmer's market in a small town w/ lots of trees. The smell of late fall raspberries, aromatic scents of herbs, the brisk freshness of pines, the sweetness of flowers and the pollen like smell of late summer sunflowers is here. Bitter, aromatic, sweet, savory, powdery, fruity. Since I can't get VanCleef I may opt for a bottle of this instead. If you mourn the loss of VanCleef I suggest giving Oscarine a try. I think you might find it to be a good substitute.

Oscarine opens bright and sweet, and the acid blackcurrant note seems to differentiate the juicy-sweet bergamot of this scent from the candy-sweetness of it’s sister, Osiris. It’s immediately clear they are closely related. I don’t get pine or basil right away, but there is some indefinite piquancy that could be either one. The brightness simmers down quickly to vanilla-resin and powder, which also reminds me of Osiris. The blackcurrant seems to mellow toward raspberry—but not too forward. I also get some orange blossom and maybe a little green wafting in and out, but it’s more suggested than stated. The raspberry and the green note—maybe the petit grain?—emerge in the dry down, and become more apparent as the vanilla-powder dissipates. The fruit persists more on fabric for me than on skin. It’s a pretty perfume, if a little vague, and enjoyable to wear. I like it for a young person who favors vanilla perfumes. It would make for a sweet and, elegant departure.

From official website: Top notes: Bergamot, Petitgrain, Basil. Heart notes: Blackcurrant, Orange Blossom. Base notes: Pine Needles, Cypress. No mention of raspberry. The most dominant note is a combo of blackcurrant and orange blossom (but mostly blackcurrant to my nose). This fruity note stays strong even at drydown, which is a really lovely, elegant drydown. Performance is average though.

Loads of orange blossom with black currant. I got the grape impression on first spray but it didn't last long. Interesting contrast between the white floral and pine/cypress base, gives it more punch.

Oscarine is my third sample from Sylvaine Delacourte’s latest orange blossom discovery kit. Oscarine is also my least favorite of the three that I’ve tried. Support literature describes this perfume as a juicy orange blossom, and that’s a good descriptor for fans of florals and fruit. On my skin this opens—and stays— very soapy. Orange Blossom is dominant. Oscarine has an underlying powder element. The raspberry and black currant add a sharp contrast to the floral base. The overall effect is a “generic” perfume smell. Fruity florals are my least favorite perfumes, but I do own and wear a few. Oscarine is not my style, so a solid pass.

Smells like a kid's off-brand scented marker in cola or root beer or grape flavor

Oscarine is a sweet, fruity, orange blossom perfume that is unique enough for niche lovers to be interested, but I can also see mainstream perfume lovers falling in love with it because of how sweet and likeable it is. The opening is juicy sweet raspberry, with no sourness or over-ripeness that some childish raspberry perfumes can have. I also get the zing of basil, which is more a feeling of freshness than front and center basil. It's the sharp basil in a basil/petitgrain soap or cologne. As it dries, I smell orange blossom the most, and what a pure and sweet orange blossom it is. The orange blossom is made more syrupy by the fruitiness - blackcurrant and raspberry combine to create a grapey sweetness that brings out the natural sweetness of orange blossom even more. Oscarine brings compliments in close quarters. I would be careful how much you spray on, though - if I spray too much of Oscarine, I have a strong allergic reaction (sneezing, itchy nose) so try it a spray or two at a time if you are sensitive.

Oscarine is the second orange blossom centered fragrance I am testing from the Sylvaine Delacourte discovery kit. I love anything citrus and orange blossom is a favorite so I had very high hopes for this little collection. First and foremost, it must be said that every one of her fragrances, whether I cared for them or not, are so well done with an exceptional longevity signifying much attention to quality and craftsmanship. Conversely, I have also noticed that there is a strange dissonance in notes that causes an unpleasant awkwardness which is perplexing. Due to its identification as an orange blossom centered fragrance I was expecting that sweet and coy freshness accompanied by the fruity notes but perhaps with the addition of the greener and woodier elements of pine needles, basil and bergamot it derailed to an unexpected place, with a musty herb smell. What lingers are the fruits which are enshrouded in that semi-herbaceous mustiness but where was the orange blossom? Good question!

Tuned down fruitti blend Don't be fooled by the notes as it quite impressively tuned down fruits by basil, & pine. Cypress, & bergamot as well are they but kept minimal and all are underneath the wood texture beside the mineral water. I do sense some cantaloupe within. It's really quite impressive and the notes voting above are quite wrong.. The raspberry, & black currant aren't the top notes, it's the woody, and basil covering the whole blend. I really like the mineral water note within the blends as if it's soaking the whole ingredients in to lower their intensity. Cute.

Upon opening, it bursts forward with orange juice, fresh and sweet. That fades within minutes down to floral orange blossom, and a few minutes later vanilla and iris come through to soften and round out the orange blossom. It is easily recognizable as a Delacourte fragrance, especially 20 minutes in as the orange blossom has all but faded away. It's now a powdery soft vanilla. I get very little woods, and no raspberries on my skin. It's a pleasant one, though, especially if you like their style to begin with, it will feel comfortable and very familiar.

Oscarine is my favorite of the orange blossom series, easily. It's incredibly well balanced and lovely, interesting but non-controversial, and the orange lasts all day, which is RARE. If you asked me to pick out the notes (other than orange blossom), I would have a hard time. I could *maybe* identify the bergamot. Otherwise, Oscarine presents a fairly unified front. My pedestrian impression is citrus and laundry. I definitely plan to buy the bottle!

Oscarine opens with a wow! Genuinely excited for a fragrance with fruity context that I enjoy so much. There’s a definitive black currant note in here, not cassis but positive Ribena, set against powdery woods, and a hint of orris/violet/iris with a creamed core of white florals, not distinct as orange blossom until dried down. Vanilla sweet drydown again...cozy. It’s all nice and civilised, nothing complex or heart racing, but I like it very much.

Oscarine is listed as the “juicy orange blossom” offering from Delacourte’s Orange Blossom line, but it isn’t juicy in a fruit juice or tart lemonade way. It makes me think of a glass of crisp, iced green tea flavored with a handful of berries muddled with basil and mint leaves, then garnished with a slice of citrus. The problem with this freshie is that it dries down to a skin scent pretty quickly.

There is nothing out there like this. The main accords list means nothing to me. I just know that I enjoy this unique fragrance, and so does everyone who asks me about it. I'm not an expert, just a fragrance lover.

Ugh, this is one I was so interested in, but the orange blossom is overpowering. It has that faux-grape flavor note that orange blossom sometimes have, making this unwearable for me.
