Sweet Tarte

I have tested this at ULTA a few times and LOVe it but it is never in stock. It's mostly vanilla on me almost cupcakey. I don't notice any real fruit notes. It makes me think of one the Britney Spears fantasy perfumes mixed with a light version of Dior Addict. Staying power is decent it just isn't one you will smell from across the room. This is the perfect summer time vanilla scent for me.

Super sweet fruity vanilla cupcake. It very much starts out like a super sweet "tarte" candy and then mellows down into a sweet vanilla cupcake dessert. Its an easy reach for me. I love it. Please make a larger bottle than just the roller ball, Tarte!

Aw, hehe, I remember buying this cute rollerball a long time ago and being disappointed by the fragrance notes because it wasn't anything like what I expected. It was a suuuuper sweet sugar bomb, and, to my nose, smelled a lot like a caramelized banana pudding with the vanilla cookie wafers. No passionfruit or orange whatsoever. Ultimately, it was not for me, as gourmands aren't really my thing unless it's light and creamy (the hot weather here takes over pretty much any season, eugh), but still, it was a VERY delicious and VERY strong scent that projected like nobody's business. You could probably smell this on someone for miles.

Uber sweet fruit. Good, but cavity -inducing

Starts out sugary-vanilla-fruity and then dries down to a gourmand. Gourmands aren't really my thing, so I'm not sure if I want to keep this around.

atlantis1982 and Cosmicscents, I also remember and still have the original tarte perfume in the square lavender bottle (released 2004, by the way). A few years ago I emailed their corporate office and asked if they had any plans to re-release it or if they would be willing to give me a more detailed list of the notes, so I could try to find or create something similar. At first, the person who responded completely ignored (or somehow missed) the part of my email where I explained that it had been discontinued. They asked for a link to the product. I responded that there is no link, because it’s been long discontinued (hence my hope that it might be re-released) but I sent them pictures of the bottle with the tarte logo clearly on the bottom, and a description of the notes with a link to the article the description came from. No response after that. I wonder why they’re trying to disown that perfume? I loved it; it really did live up to the brand name with a tart note in the opening that I still can’t identify. I don’t have the packaging anymore but an article (still online, as of today) says this: “By 2003, Tarte's sales figures had reached the $2 million mark, and the following year Kelly introduced a Tarte fragrance. A blend of bergamot, freesia, Japanese plum, peony, musk, and sandalwood, among other notes, the scent was another intensive hands-on experience for Kelly, who devised, tested, and retooled every one of her products herself before launching them." I’m going to contact someone at Fragrantica and see if they’ll add it to their database. Even after quite a few years perusing various scents and learning about perfumery in general, I’m still terrible at identifying single notes. I’ve made a few blind buys, based on description alone, trying to find something close to this (preferably with that “bright”, tart note somewhere in the composition) but I’ve yet to find a close match or successfully identify exactly which notes I fell in love with in the original Tarte fragrance.

You're right, Cosmicscents! The original Tarte edt came out in (approx.) 2001, but weirdly was barely promoted and seemed to disappear about a year or two later. I was lucky to buy it and in fact still have it! I can give the notes, as per the packaging: "Top notes of bergamot, mandarin, freesia and peach. A heart of cassis, Japanese plum, mimosa and peony, and a drydown of musk, sandalwood, oakmoss and heliotrope." (I even emailed the company to let them know Sweet Tarte is their *second* fragrance, not the first. No response!)

A lovely orange, vanilla fragrance. There is almost a licorice note here. It reminded me a bit of Fantasy by Britney Spears but as I have worn it, I get more similarities to Gold Sugar by Aquolina. In fact to me it is a dead ringer to Gold Sugar, a licorice-y, orange and vanilla perfume. Very comforting!

Actually they had a fragrance years and years ago which I tested and I never got to purchase because it got discontinued, I want this and what is weird is that I had been thinking a few days ago about that fragrance and why they haven't made anything new and here it comes :)
