01 Le Maroc Pour Elle

I bought this on the pretence it would transport me to a specific place and time, and it did exactly that; a nostalgic one where as a child in the streets and alleyways of old Cairo in Egypt, where street vendors would walk about selling garlands of voluptuous jasmine flowers, fragrantly bursting with their nocturnal sensuality. In the background, a mixture of sweet aromas from nearby shisha cafes and spices intermingling in the air, but with the jasmine commanding its assertive hold, like the main pianist in an orchestra. The night is warm and humid, with an almost stationary breeze, carrying the dense fragrant smells, with the odd florals from flower shops in the background. The smells are unmistakingly North African, but not near a coast of any sorts, more of humid density, the kind of intensity that accentuates the weight of the florals. This is most definitely not a Mediterranean vibe, and it holds extreme accuracy in what it delivers. I know this is marketed towards women, but I find that completely irrelevant, moreso now that the majority of fragrance lovers do not see fragrances through a gender specific lens. I find this a transportive scent, one that anyone can wear, I personally find it extremely comforting and would spritz it on mostly at night, a warm one to be precise, but any night would suffice, because that's where it takes me. I have attempted to layer this over darker fragrances akin to Patchouly and Ambra Aura from Profumum Roma, and they simply add yet another dimension and take me to the summer nights in Alexandria, near the Med, or with Neroli from the same house, lifting it up to a daytime brighter fragrance. The core of the fragrance is not diminished, rather akin to wearing a red shawl over an elegant suit, to dress it down or up accordingly, but the main suit is still there, just simply slightly amended to meet a different occasion. This was blind bought, and I have no idea if there have been any reformulations along the way since it was initially introduced two decades ago. I suspect not, due to the way it still carries the same message that Andy intended to deliver back then, and is successfully executed with meticulous precision. I paid full retail + delivery, ands blind bought as I buy all any fragrances. In my books the cost is completely justified due to the quality of the Jasmine Absolute alone, let alone the remaining raw materials, and the artisanal blending The atomiser and lid are indeed not of a calibre that reflects the quality of the juice, as many already know and mentioned, but to me I could not care less. I'd rather have a cheap bottle with golden juice, than a synthetic chaos akin to that of the offerings of Xerjoff in an outlandishly extravagant presentation. Highly recommended, I wouldn't say extremely versatile, but that's subjective opinion, not objective. Gof bless and enjoy :)

A beautiful and opulent Floral-Oriental perfume with a misleading name. Le Maroc Pour Elle does a "Portrait of a Lady" type of labeling when, in reality, it could easily pass as "Le Maroc Pour Lui." Leaving the name aside, this is a beautiful Oriental treatment of Jasmine, the most prominent floral note, supported by Rose and Lavender. I love Jasmine in perfumes, but it has to be natural-smelling. I came to develop an aversion toward the Hedione built-up accords that saturate the market. Furthermore, it needs to be handled with care. Not too fruity, nor too rubbery or indolic. Yes, I am picky. Here, it is used exquisitely by a nose who has proved numerous times that he understands and appreciates floral materials and that he knows how to handle them. What he decides to do with the remainder of the composition might not always please my fancy, but I love the way he weaves it here (as well as in Une Rose Chypree). The opening of Le Maroc is fizzy and bright due to the mandarin and the lavender. I find this sparkling opening prevalent in many of Andy Tauer's perfumes, and I am a fan. It is invigorating and different from the usual choice of introductory greetings most perfumers opt for. Jasmine enters the scene almost immediately, opulent and assertive with the right amount of indolic facets and sweetness, while nothing about it feels excessive. The lavender helps to balance the queen of the night until the rose and later, the woods and resins take the burden. You see, she is always restrained by the secondary players and never allowed to overshadow the composition. The rose is present but merely guards her, never crossing the line. The base of Le Maroc is creamy and woody. I get the cedar mostly, and thankfully, none of the Iso-E Super that prevents me from loving PHI Une Rose De Kandahar. Along the cedar, a melange of resins gives a hint of smokiness, sweetness, and a dusty texture. I would say the woods are more prevalent than the resins and almost give off an antique furniture vibe (or an apothecary). Le Maroc Pour Elle makes me picture a well-kept flower garden in the Orient, maybe within the domain of a luxurious palace, a stroll through the garden at dusk when the flowers speak the loudest. I think men can easily enjoy this as the lavender gives off a nice fougerish touch in the opening that lasts through the heart, where the strong woody notes (mainly the cedar) take over. Here in Seattle, Washington, we have a farmer's market called "The Pike Place Market". You can buy fresh fruit, veggies, flowers, fish... all the normal farmer's market goods. There are also shops sprinkled around the edges of the market where you can buy handmade wares, and then there are specialty shops. It's a wonderful place to take folks to who are from out-of-town, and I certainly like to find an excuse to travel to the northwest edge of Seattle to experience this wonderful place. In a certain area, deep in the 100+ year old wooden buildings where the shops are, is a few head shops, and of course there is lots of incense burning. There are tea & spice shops, along with scented oils and candle shops, and stalls and stalls of fresh cut flowers. So, this area has the most wonderful, old fashioned, woody, incensey, tea & spices, and floral (mostly rose) like scent that brings back so many memories of my entire life through which I have visited the Pike Place Market many, many times. This Tauer creation is that scent. Absolute dead ringer for Seattle's Pike Place Market. I keep sniffing my wrist. I can't decide if it is something I want to smell like though. Or, if I do, I'm not sure how often I'd wear it. It starts out strong, but it really does melt and soften over the course of a half hour or so. And then it becomes this wafting scent that continues to flit around and greet my nose with a cheerful, rosie, woody aroma. This scent certainly brings back memories of a place I love and am intimately familiar with. I currently own a bottle of the 02 L`Air du Desert Marocain which I adore. It is dry and wonderful. I recently ordered, and am awaiting, 09 Orange Star. My next planned Tauer purchase is the Pentachords Auburn which I absolutely love love love. I will need to use this a few times and see if it grows on me. Tauer's potions usually do! Edit: I bought the big bottle! Even before my precious Auburn Pentachord! The PPM memories were too strong to ignore. It does have a lovely rose scent I am surprised I have fallen so hard for, since rose usually gives me a headache. This is wonderful. I see why it launched Andy Tauer into a stunning creative vocation.

I am probably not the best person to for this task but I'll give it a go. I originally bought L'air du desert Marocain blind and really liked it but I wanted something just a tad bit more feminine. It took LuckyScent several tries to get me a sample of Le Maroc Pour Elle. Why did I wait for a sample, well because this website has it as an oriental floral and the word floral is frightening to me. I like scents that are slightly feminine or have implied femininity but all out floral/fruity scents are waaaay too girly for me. With orientals I never know how floral floral is going to be. Well the sample arrived today and of course I tried it and it was perfect. I immediately decided to order a bottle which would entitle me to 3 free samples. This decision was going to take some time but I had my new Le Maroc Pour Elle to entertain me. As time passed the floral quitted a bit and the spices woke up as I expected but all was good. I could smell this stuff forever. I then got involved in selecting my free samples and before I knew it I was in dry down. When I took a whiff of my wrist I thought “OMG I can’t believe it”. I had the Ides of March from Portland, Oregon right there on my wrist. The Ides of March was a head shop I frequented back in ‘72/’73. As soon as you opened the shop door you were hit with a fragrance that was absolutely wonderful. The inside of the shop was all done in wood. They sold custom handmade leather products made right there in the shop. They had incense, attars and oils from all over the world. They had tapestries and Persian rugs for sell as well. And of course they sold things that did not smell. I always found going there such an olfactory treat. Not only has Le Maroc Pour Elle turned out to be a fragrance I love but it can provide me with a bit of time travel as well.

Le Maroc pour Elle has been a love ever since I first smelled it more than a decade ago. Back then my heart and money went to Une Rose Chyprée but Le Maroc was always on my mind. Fast forward to now and I’ve finally bought a bottle. A new batch and a new formulation. Yes, Andy has reformulated Le Maroc, no doubt mostly because of restrictions on jasmine and rose use. Good news though; the scent profile hasn’t been altered even though it has gone from an almost extrait intensity to a rich edp. But that’s ok, because the sticky resins, the rich rose and jasmine and the sharpness of lavender are still there. And it’s still like I remember it. Headshop incense! Le Maroc was always, for me, headshop incense. Slightly heady, slightly cheap. Rich. Saturating. A full rose and jasmine attar like bubble that expands only to be calmed by a sharp lavender strike. That incense sweetness (nothing at all like incense in the church style) always reminded me of esoteric shops, crystal balls and tarot cards. The scent of entering a shop where incense burns incessantly. Jasmine, sandalwood, rose... that entire atmosphere was (and still is) Le Maroc. All while being sensual, erotic, larger than life. Not so much Morocco but India. It’s still that. It’s still big, although now you can spray more liberally. It’s still a rich red/brown color. It still stains skin and clothes. And it still lasts all day. So I’m happy it’s back, I’m happy that the scent hasn’t been compromised and even though it’s not the beast it was, it is a perfume that deepens with time. Like Rose Chyprée, one of Andy’s best works and a modern masterpiece!

Le Maroc Pour Elle smells exactly like a traditional Indian flower shop. A whiff of this perfume reminds me immediately of the shops we have here that sell malas and other Indian floral products. When you walk past one of those shops, the smell of white florals and incense hits you like a truck. This perfume is that heavy. The 2 most distinctive notes are the jasmine and orange. The orange scent is kind of like orange blossom honey - it is very sweet, with a distinctive orange note on top, and that is blended seamlessly here with the jasmine. If you're familiar with the scent of frangipani, the top notes also remind me a bit of that. Layered underneath the orange and jasmine is a very polished amber-y, woodsy, rose-y base. It lasts for hours and the jasmine note is very prominent even when the perfume has dried down. The orange note goes away after a while. I don't pick up the lavender note, though. This is not a run-of-the-mill white floral fragrance. I can see it being just too much for some, but would recommend it to people who love jasmine. Tauer isn't cheap, but also not ridiculously expensive, so overall I would say Le Maroc is great value for money given the lasting power and quality and uniqueness of the composition. When my sample runs out, I may just have to get a full bottle...

It is too strong the first time I sprayed it on paper (I guess I'm the only one), but after it dried down I can only say that the resin note is the richest and most beautiful I've ever smelled and for me it lasted 6ish hours (8-12 on paper?). To me it isn't particularly rosy or floral forward. I had to spray again to pick it out and it is there, but very smoothly blended. It smells of an Arabian palace, or basically what I imagine a Saudi royalty mansion would smell of. I'm not sure which man would wear this, but I feel it is unisex or at least not ultra-femme. I am on the hunt for a 5ml or a used full bottle. To me it makes me feel like I am an ambery lantern, glowing from within. I could see this worn in many occasions for the right person and mindset with the exception of summer day time (cool summer night in a desert would be great though). Also, not getting the smell of a head shop *at all* with this one. I can only guess someone who would say that is not a fan of orientals. I think there are probably many others on the market in this family, but to me it stands out if nothing else for the obvious quality and strength and mastery. Note: the natural ingredients due to the high quality concoction may leave an amber stain on clothing.

I am fast becoming a Tauer devotee. I have yet to try a work of his that I do not like. I received quite a few samples I had ordered from Lucky Scent. Amongst them were several Tauer classics, including this one. I accidentally ordered two of this particular perfume (oh...darn), so I was pretty free with the application. Wow. What a beauty she is. Apparently, I'm an unapologetic jasmine lover. My skin seems to grab onto and amplify that particular note, but I'm not complaining. As with many Tauer perfumes, there is a lot going on. Unfortunately, I'm not skilled enough to recognize each individual note, but I know a masterpiece when I smell one. This perfume would be a stunner on a night out. The bodies of both men and women would lie in your wake. People would chase you down to discover what you were wearing. And the best part? No one else will be wearing it. It reminds me of the nineties. Of nights spent with friends burning Nag Champa (and a few other things), while listening to the Pixies and Pavement over and over again and passing around a bottle of something cheap and awful. Le Maroc is a beautiful, stunning work by Tauer, and as I stop typing to sniff my wrist for the 5th time, I accept that I will have to buy the FB.

Did someone say pour elle? Sorry, what was that? Haha. Nope, this was Tauer redemption day for me (after a slightly less than inspiring Orange Star experience). Le Maroc is a true beauty. The Moroccan rose is obviously the prime mover here, but for me it's the patchouli that lights the lights. This is a classic example of the "wait for the dry down" phenomenon. It's a bit in your face initially, the (surprisingly sexy) lavender and mandarin combo come on a bit strong & bawdy, but...cometh the dry down, cometh the mind boggle! The patch & some resin/incense team up with the rose and that ripping Tauer sandalwood to whisk me straight back to those late 80's Melbourne head shops faster than if I had a flux capacitor hard wired to my medulla oblongata! Those places were exciting, edgy and slightly risqué for a young man back in the day & clearly the scent memory has stuck around! This might not sound too classy to y'all, but that's just an impression I get when I smell this in the dry down phase. This truly is a classy woody incense/rose scent for the ages. Ignore the fact this is designated feminine please, it's totally wearable by all and sundry. A real gem that's bound to find it's way on to my shelf in FB form one day!

Le Maroc Pour Elle is an environment. It is more like the spectrum of nuances which combine to form the interior scent of someone's home than something I would like to cloak myself in. That said, I bet there is someone out there somewhere who already smells like this naturally, because people do tend to smell like their homes to a degree. This is unquestionably the most evocative and poetic perfume I have smelled in a very long time. I get the sweet freshness of laundered clothes lying folded on the bed of a bohemian lady in her late 50's early 60's. There is some powdered laundry soap remaining on the top of her washing machine, and late afternoon light streaming through the windows. Her home is filled with eclectic art and furniture, and nothing matches but everything is tasteful, neat, and it all seems to fit together seamlessly. Every surface and object here is imbued with soft woody-jasmine incense, and a natural cast of intimacy, sadness, and calm, but without any musk or skank. This fragrance is by NO means stale, but it is lived in. This is what La Vie est Belle should have smelled like if the name and the perfume were going to match. Words don't cut it. This has quickly become my cherished signature scent and gateway drug into powdery florals. When you run out of a sample and miss it, that's a sign to spring for the full size. It's a deceptively good value, 50 ml of dark oily spray that lasts 4-6 hours. Immediately this scent hits you with unvarnished natural ingredients- sandalwood, orange blossom, jasmine, light patchouli. I catch sparkling hints of lavender and citrus, and everything is blended such that it's never too indolic, smokey, peppery or sharp. Somehow Andy Tauer has managed to bottle the scent of the orange blossom water used in desserts, amplifying its sweet and incense-like facets into a rich and vivid perfume. This is easy to see as a bohemian hippie scent, but many of these ingredients are common at an Indian grocery store. The old-fashioned floral elements make this easy to wear with a white blouse, pearls, full skirt and heels. Powerful, rough around the edges, not for sensitive noses. Even without being a very sweet or sexual perfume, I feel extra seductive with this on. It's overtly feminine without suppressing the character of the raw materials, which speaks to a bold and daring identity.

Le Maroc Pour Elle by andy Tauer well when i test it i said wow This is one of the best unisex fragrance I’ve seen the longevity and projection is superb And ots very well blended! I call this perfume happy Maroccian girl very energetic and always smiling and happy You can feel it I wear it night or day but in colder and chilly days it’s going to be best! When i spray it just 2 I’ve thought this is enough or maybe 3 at the max I smell lots of jasmin, roses and wooody notes that the are well balance it actually it’s very hard to talk about notes in this fragrance i want to continue talking about the Happy Girl When i wear it, it’s like that girl smiling and laughing very laud and dansing around me with the traditional dress that she has Every smell and note from this fragrance is come from a symbol from her Spices and a little bit dryness and sweet and woodsy nots and all of this goes to the happy root that she is ... My rates for this fragrance is : Scent : 10/10 Performances : 10/10 Longevity : 9/10 Projection : 9/10 Unique: 10/10 Value of money : 10/10 Overall : 9.6/10 ...:::::Thumbs up:::::...

So divine. I tested and bought this after L'Air du Desert Marocain, and I think I like this even better. It's a strange mix of incense from the shops on Haight (good call Kris143max) and exhaust from the laundromat. That being said, not everyone is going to want to smell like that, and I understand completely. It's the same way some people don't mind smelling like chocolate, but I do. Gimme incense any day! Being San Franciscan, LMPE is perfect for casual days. In fact, people will probably just assume I was burning incense at home and will never even think to ask what perfume I'm wearing. Maybe for some this is elegant, sexy, dressy, but in San Francisco this smells like you partied all night and just rolled out of bed. Incense here is a lovely blend of rose, jasmine, and sandalwood incense sticks. It's all somewhat sweet, but not cloyingly so. I think the lavender laundry detergent scent adds freshness and upliftment. I haven't read the other reviews yet, but I wonder if am I the only one who smells some kind of sugary candy too, like pink rock crystal candy?

Recently I decided to go through a set of old samples and stumbled on this one. I immediately couldn't believe I had passed by it before. I wore the sample for a couple days, then got a bottle. I am absolutely smitten. This is just gorgeous. Other people compare it to smelling incense in a hippie store and I don't disagree lol! ...but whereas other people may think that's a bad thing... I unabashedly love that smell. This perfume smells like the classic incense Nag Champa except dialed in perfectly...soft, fluffy, a bit sweet. It isn't harsh at all on me. My skin loves this perfume. I do not find it hard to wear at all, and wear it to work without a problem. To me this isn't a scent that has an occasion, as I could quite literally see myself wearing this all the time, like a signature scent. It is the most lovely jasmine, and this coming from someone that didn't particularly think I could wear jasmine heavy scents! I keep smelling myself. LOVE.

I had to change my dislike to like and then to love !!!! Andy Tauer, I think, is a genius. This perfume may not be for you, or even me, however I will keep and probably use this sample on those days when I want to go back in time and revisit Cairo or the Edgware Road (but don't have the bus fare), or I'm wearing my ladies thobe or cooking ful or kabsah or watching Aladdin or reading Sherazade (arabian nights this is)! I'm not sure I would buy this - but I do have a sneaky suspicion that once this sample has gone I will somehow decide that I 'need' a bottle of this in my perfume library! Although expensive, I think a bottle will last a long long time! This perfume (and it definitely fully uses the word 'perfume') is like meeting a very complex person and not being able to forget them forever!

this is what alien could never be! One of my favorites from the Tauer line. This is not your girly jasmine at all, this is sophisticated and definitely not a blind buy. Longevity is phenomenal and sillage is following you about a foot behind. I get complimented constantly and my husband said I smell great, that’s usually a sign of a keeper for me! I get a big amount of jasmine on the opening and this lasts all the way threw, and the lavender makes it so it’s unisex for all to wear! I do get woody notes in the drydown. Again this is not a blind buy and I think it’s also hard to find, I don’t think its discontinued but not a new product or as popular as it’s L’Air du Desert Morocain fellow fragrance. 10/10 on me but not a blind buy at all!

I am not the biggest fan of jasmine but if I were to have a jasmine in my collection, this is clearly it. And I am a fan of this jasmine. Jasmine and rose at their best, with the jasmine coming out more to my nose, a warm one that remains plush and in bloom, not the indolic, green and almost rotten jasmin that you can have in other interpretations. Beautiful. And indeed these are white flowers in the souk, in the hot sun, so if you look for the jasmine like in a grand white floral aldehyde style, move on. I think I will be very tempted by a FB next time I see Tauer on a counter.

I love this! Agree with Perfumatrix review below. Would add though that Tauer perfumes are so unique and individual, its difficult to say they are "like" any others as the blending is so good. I get the notes coming through in the exact order they are listed! This one is sweeter than I imagined it would be, having sampled L'Air du Desert Marocain and a few others. Really special. Not easy to find (thanks to Brexit), and Les Senteurs have exclusivity in UK, but got a good deal.

Huh. I didn't think of this as being that outrageous, but I guess it's not for the timid or those who prefer the mainstream path. I am still unsure if I love the initial opening of Le Maroc, but I sure love the rest of the journey. It's a complete wrist sniffer for me and when I get a whiff inadvertently, I smile. Warm and luscious. Glad I found it before the weather gets warm so I can enjoy it for a bit before I put it away to await fall.

magnifico, un profumo da mille e una notte, opulento, sordido, assolutamente mediorientale. all'inizio sembra un accordo basato sui fiori d'arancio e gelsomino, intossicamente, quasi sporco, poi inizia il viaggio attraverso resine e spezie, assai balsamico, molto complesso, con qualche punta di rosa, fino all'assestamento su patchouli e benzoino. è un liquido scuro, quindi attenzione ai vestiti, quasi liquoroso, veramente notevole. ottimo.
