02 L'Air du Desert Marocain

This is my first ever review of any fragrance on here, and I just recently got into fragrances and this is also my first niche scent. So.......with that being said I'm not exactly a pro. I also did blind buy this (and I know many have said not a good Idea and I can kinda see why) and I personally fell in love with the beauty and the adventure in this scent almost immediately. So I'm definitely not disappointed. I gotta say, I dont know if I have the right way or words to describe this scent but.......GOOD LORD ALMIGHTY!! This really is something else!! As many have said that this is NOT a typical scent and is VERY transportive! The moment I smelled this I felt like I was on some other planet walking around by myself in a very dry but cool desert while late afternoon and cloudy, smelling totally foreign and unfamiliar vegetation wafting through the gentle breeze, hearing no other sounds other than that breeze making me feel like I was lost, and VERY VERY VERY far away from home! It also smells like something VERY ancient. History in a bottle (like almost 3000+ years old) to me but VERY BEAUTIFUL!! This to me is absolutely an otherworldly smell as someone else on here has mentioned. Tauer has mixed fairly and somewhat common ingredients in such a way and just the right mix to make it smell like something that's not of this world. I'm gonna say this........this scent is so unique, whatever your imagination can conjure up before you have even smelled it yet...........you WILL be wrong! It will NOT smell like you think it will. Trust me on this. However, I will say that to me, this smells very dry, herbal, earthy and dirty (but in a good way like a rich soil). If you like those types of smells, chances are you will like this one. I tip my hat to Tauer and mad respect to this man for accomplishing something like this. This is definitely liquid art or a transporting time machine in a bottle. He definitely has a very vivid and deep imagination. You can tell the work he's put into this. Now, I'm a guy btw and to me this definitely leans masculine (but not an overly rough masculine) and as far as wearability, I would say, definitely and even in warmer weather because of how dry and kinda cool the scent is. (at least I think so, but I definitely would not go heavy on it as it does have a kinda sharp herbal smell to it, light application should do it so to intrigue and not offend anyone). Some may not like it, but we all know that smells are subjective. This is (to me anyway) a very unique and very beautiful scent and VERY purchase worthy (even if you don't wear it a lot). If I were an octopus I'd give it eight thumbs up for the creativity in this. Holy moly what a unique scent!! Nice one Tauer, I'm definitely impressed. This is really cool!!

There are scents that capture a moment, and in L'air du desert Marocain is clear that Tauer found a magic combination of notes that creates a special story, The scent is splitted in Three in the best way possible, There is a straight Citrus that is combind with Coriander Cumin and Lavander wich gives a first burst of whats to come, but is not directly pleasant, as in any good scent the unbalance create interests and here is masterfully done. Labdanum and Geranium follows the scent into a floral aspect that make the scent elegant and "Pleasing" to the nose, but is strongly connected to the bottom, You can virtually " see" the layers, one is interconnected with other, the sky, the sand, and the ground, "L'air" itself is fresh (in warm weather) ,and the sand is dry, but the ground is deep not fully dark and a bit wet, amber like, is truly a great scent to at least try to inject knowledge to your nose. Andy is capturing the air above the beautiful landscape frozen in time. I do understand why this scent become a giant hit, it has that special connection to a real life feeling perfectly balanced, yet it goes away when he desires, giving you a certain leathery, woody trail when you smell it out of you, there is a very bitter combo Patchouli / Petitgrain that makes it almost unpleasant at the first sniff, but that is clearly why the scent becomes more light leather than full wood/amber, He worked out that balancing on a pin the Petitgrain bitterness and the sweetness of the flowers gives this special balance that is very hard to find when composing a scent, one way or another Tauer figured out a perfect sweetspot. Glad i own it, and i can say that is clearly my style. It goes in the middle of the Desert scents collection that are more into the deep night, when the sun is gone, and the air becomes slowly colder, but not yet, the warm breeze is still up there, fully in the night, it's a moment in time, balanced to perfection. This scent with Black Afgano are really the definition of nieche selfmade bangers, and will go in history as a very unique and personal amber style that people will keep discovering and coming back to.

I'm Moroccan, so it was obligatory to try this fragrance. My first impression, honestly, was that I had no scent memory association at all. However, it had a super interesting, animalic, spicy opening that lasts for a bit, with strong coriander and cumin. I don't get a direct lavender smell, but more of a "haze" that comes off it. The petitgrain is very hidden, but I can see what it's doing - it relaxes the opening from being too pungent, and it barely managed to do that. Honestly, it's a unique and cool opening. Once it mellows, I'm getting a warm, leathery birch tree, slightly dry and dusty, but somehow still airy. Hmm, this is actually really nice. "L'Air du Désert"... okay, I see it now. But, as a Moroccan, I don't think it captures the essence of the desert. Overall, I'm perceiving this more as a labdanum leather fragrance. If anything would remind me of Morocco, it would be the big, cheap, yellow bars of soap that some old houses used for laundry. It's right there, between that dryness. It's far from bad - actually, it's quite smooth and nostalgic. The geranium/jasmine combination is doing that. Even though it's dry, it's not at all desert-like. The generic amber has a slight benzoin lean, for sure. It's got something sweet and vanillic that's not stated in the note breakdown, next to the cedar and vetiver, which are both coarse. But, trust me, it's not that super dry - the airiness is balancing that quite nicely. The mossy/patchouli musk is giving lift to all that. It's really good - I like it a lot. I might one day pick up a bottle. The fragrance definitely hit the mark with the dry/airy balance. I enjoyed the soap-like quality. I wish it actually retained some of that animalic spiciness further into the fragrance. It would've been great if it had been inverted somehow - that would've maybe captured some of the Moroccan essence in the scent. It didn't blow me away, but for sure, it's a fragrance that will have people stop and ask what you're wearing, no doubt. It's really strong... do be easy with the sprays! Lasts on clothes for a very long time.

I have long wanted to try 02 L'Air du Désert Marocain, deemed a masterpiece by many. I have only tried one Tauer perfume previously, Phi Une Rose de Kandahar, and I was impressed by its quality. One of the earlier niche brands, Andy Tauer's creations are instantly recognisable by their lapis-blue pentagon-shaped bottles, and their consistently high quality is frequently commented on in blogs etc. 02 is a spicy-amber scent, dry and woody, fougère in style. It is of the high quality I expected, evocative of its theme, slightly unusual and beautifully-composed. 02 has an aromatic, spicy opening, savoury and peppery. I get a prominent cumin note, slightly dirty and adding heat, with some dry, peppery coriander following. The lavender gives it a fougère edge, with green petitgrain rounding out the herbal quality as well as paving the way to the woody base. Geranium complements it, adding its distinctive peppery greenness. The spices and herbal notes are beautifully balanced. The amber base is detectable from initial spray, coming to the fore as the scent develops. It is balsamic, dry and quite medicinal. Leathery labdanum is evident throughout, a favourite amber note of mine. The woody notes that follow marry beautifully with the amber, making for a rich, layered, dry accord. Dry, grassy vetiver is quite prominent here, the perfect addition. There is a nice earthiness to the base in the later stages too, mostly thanks to the patchouli, but I get a hint of vintage-style oakmoss too, punctuating the woody-amber accord beautifully. Remnants of spice remain until the end, adding interest. It fades to a dry, woody-musky skin scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. It is masculine-leaning in my opinion, best worn in autumn/winter. Utterly beautiful and high-quality, 02 is a masterfully-composed woody-amber, classic in style, yet unusual and compelling throughout. It is comforting and restorative as well as being utterly wearable. An elevated amber-spicebomb. Exceptional. 4.5/5.

Disclaimer: This is my first time posting a review, and I am not at all a professional in this industry, but I was compelled to share my thoughts on this fragrance. It is unlike anything else I have smelled. It's somehow simultaneously cool and spicy. Frosty and sparkling yet dry--just like dawn on a winter's day in the high desert. It's hard for me to pick out individual notes on the, because of what I feel are misleading descriptions, disarmingly sparkling opening. The one exception is almost citrusy coriander seed (I definitely do not smell cilantro/coriander leaf), and there is something verdant and refreshing (perhaps orange leaf, Pelargonium leaf, and/or lavender). I do not detect the musty body-odor note I associate with cumin. I must confess I don't know what rockrose/labdanum and oakmoss smell like. There is a pleasant but subtle white floral fragrance like orange blossom or jasmine sambac. And for me, the whole fragrance seems to balance on a sturdy and refreshing base of cedar or cypress that dries down somewhat creamy, like Ponderosa bark, after a couple hours. Finally, onto the reason I am writing this... Based on many reviews and the votes here, I expected this to be a very different, wintertime scent: warm and grounded in lots of amber. However, like @Mouse011 below, I detect ZERO AMBER in this fragrance. A quick check on Tauer's own website seem to confirm this. Instead. he lists AMBERGRIS, which is not listed anywhere here. I presume this is contributing the mineral and faintly marine notes and —along with the lavender—to the cool, vaguely minty opening, when this fragrance sparkles like fresh hoar frost for me. L'Air du Désert Macorain is not a cozy evening in a bazaar with a cup of hot tea and warm, comforting tagine spices floating around. It's a gust of surprisingly brisk winter wind whipping through frost-laden desert scrub on its way to tingle my nose, and I love it!

The first time I sniffed LAddM: WFTis this smoky/spicy/amber in this weird bottle: totally confusing, almost repulsed, but somehow intriguing.. Also, why is it so highly rated by others with similar smell profiles as mine? So, I read the story of the nose behind this, Andy Tauer, a chemist by training, self-taught in fragrance, no perfumery pedigree, pushed into this world in his own words "like a virgin getting pregnant." In his basement he made this almost by accident, broke every convention, and created something truly innovative precisely because he didn't have that lofty training. It explained things, why I felt puzzled the first time I sprayed this, it was totally unfamiliar: Andy broke all the rules and created something completely outside the norm (even 17 years later it still feels "new") FYI, he's still a one man show, even fills and ships bottles with a hand writen note (if ordering direct). I came back to this eventually and it didn't take long to get hooked. I'm not going to do a note breakdown, I'll only say this: if you want to understand the niche world, start here. Groundbreaking, yet completely approachable, and very versatile (FYI, it smells better "in the air" on others as it where). I reviewed the denser, more resinous Au Coeur du Desert (the older brother to this) separately; awesome but NOT as versitile LAddM just works, every day, night, season or occassionn. For me it wears best on warm summer days. A few people have commented that this fragrance is what they imagine Indiana Jones would smell like and I totally get it! It just vibes with adventure and I want to get away somewhere exotic. To me, that's an hour away: Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, a desert-like landscape dotted with vineyards and open fire kitchens (specifically Deckmans at sunset).

Let’s be honest: this scent is definitely not designed for mainstream tastes, nor is it something everyone can instantly understand at first sniff. It might initially overwhelm noses accustomed to mass-market, sugary blends. This masterpiece belongs to discerning noses—those who don't view perfume merely as a commodity, but who truly appreciate the story, depth, and raw craftsmanship behind a formulation. A genuine collector's piece. Performance: Exceptional. From a producer's perspective, the quality of the raw materials—especially the dry resins—is immediately evident in how powerfully the composition bonds with the skin. It feels alive, organic, and far from synthetic. Sillage / Projection: Distinct and Commanding. Without ever needing to shout, it enters a room and subtly declares, "I am here, and I am unique," purely through its sophisticated presence. Longevity & Occasion: It pairs beautifully with the crisp, sharp air of autumn and winter. It truly reveals its power during formal evening events, especially when complemented by a tailored outfit or a high-quality wool overcoat.

This is not a true review of how this perfume smells, many other reviews here have already done this far better than me. This is a story of how true art in the form of a perfume can touch anyone, no matter how un-interested they might be towards perfumes in the first place. During a trip in Rome, we found ourselves lost in the narrow historic streets of Trastevere. And there was every perfumistas paradise: a small Profumeria that carried everything. Lutens, Montale, Goutal, Etat, Byredo, everything. And there it was, staring at me from a modest place on a shelf, L'Air du Desert Marocain. It was the only perfume I tried, it was so strange! I was literally like a child in a candy shop, and all I wanted to try was this perfume. My husband was also there, waiting for me impantiently as always. He is not into perfumes, and to be honest, from all the 100s of bottles of perfumes that I have owned in the years he has never commented on anything, except when asked. I sprayed some on my wrist and we left the store. After a while, my husband asked to smell my wrist without being asked to do so. 'What a magical perfume' he said. Magical. The comment I have been waiting for years had finally arrived. 'We have to go back and buy it' he said, and happily walked back in the rain to the little shop. He bought me the last bottle available. So for me, L'Air du Desert Marocain is art. The kind that doesn't need explanation, but just leaves even the most untrained nose in awe. Thank you Andy Tauer...

Nose Note #869 I expected something else. I wasn't blown away at all. It reminded me of Olivere Escapade a Byzance and Miller Harris La Fumee, not a lot, but it's giving me a similar experience. Tauer definitely has a strong coriander aromatic accord, so it's not just incense/amber. Is it beautiful? Yes, but it's definitely not for everyone to enjoy. My wife doesn't like it at all, she says it smells like some medicine, and I understand that. Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady smells like bug spray to her and again, I totally get that. It also has subtle sweetness which reminds of sugar that they put in Vitamin C sweetened pills - I can't get Vitamin C out of my head, the sweetness is so similar. But the most disappointing thing about it is that it just doesn't perform on my skin at all. Almost no projection, almost a skin scent. And I'd say the longevity is barely moderate. For this money I expected something totally different. I've been wearing Amouage, Xerjoff, Nishane a day before, the day after and the same day in the evening and the difference in how fragrances perform is just embarrassing. This particular Tauer just doesn't show up... The DNA is unique, sure, I haven't come across a lot of fragrances like that. What else comes to mind is Dior Bois d'Argent and Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka, but it's more of a "If you like L'Air du Desert, you may also enjoy these". 7.8/10, I'm still rating it rather high, but my overall experience is upsetting

This was absolute love at first smell for me. The complexity of this is incredible - I find that the scent is both addictive and constantly shifting as it dries down, each time I go back to smell my arm I pick up something different. For me it’s completely atmospheric and transports me back to an evening on a trip to Egypt (haven’t visited Morocco) - I know logically the scent isn’t that, but somehow it transports me there emotionally. I also tried Au Coeur Du Desert in the same week and after a few wearings of each I personally preferred this. It’s drier and somehow feels more unique to me. This was a cozy at home evening scent for me, I loved wearing it to bed. I’m not sure exactly what setting I would choose to wear this out and about, as for me it doesn’t quite feel like an everyday scent, probably better suited to evenings but could work for daytime use on the right person. I think in particular I love the dry spiciness of this because so many scents are doing the spicy-sweet thing these days - this will definitely stand out. That said, I can understand how this might not work for everyone and in fact my partner wasn’t a big fan of this scent, saying it reminded him too much of a church. Usually when he doesn’t love a scent that I’m sampling I move onto something else, but I love this one so much that I’ll still be buying a full bottle. Hoping it grows on him ;)

As I started to explore the fragrance world I wondered what is the My Bloody Valentine of fragrance - critically unimpeachable, treasured by those in the know but not well-known by the masses. I think Tauer Perfumes has a good claim and this is its Loveless. All the aspects of the brand hit the mark - interesting and wearable perfumes with good performance, distinctive packaging, no stupid gimmicks, creative control, respect for the audience and reasonable pricing. Of course this does not smell like the Moroccan desert. You wouldn't disparage Robert DeNiro by saying that gangsters don't act like that. Most people are boring and don't show much emotion, and the Moroccan desert doesn't smell like much. This perfume is meant to evoke the feeling of the Moroccan desert artistically. I say that but that doesn't mean I understand what it's trying to say. It will be a puzzle to work out for some time. Some guesses - the way the chill descends quickly on the desert when the sun disappears; the somber quiet that invites contemplation; the tenaciousness of life clinging to rock (Moroccan desert is mostly rock, not sand), battered by the elements but holding on; how the desert is the refuge of the outlaw - a space on which to project both fears of being ravaged and yearnings for escape.

I have a 2016 batch. The best longevity and projection ever! Tauer doesn't make weak juice and i think all experienced fragrance patrons would agree. This is a very dry and masculine scent. I mean he nailed it when he wanted to make a fragrance that reminded him of the morocan desert. The incense, spice, and dryness... I mean this has it all! Though I don't think I would base this fragrance off the notes in regards to sampling it, just sample it. Theres a reason this has so much hype. I know, I know, I HATE BANDWAGON HYPE FRAGS, but this is an exception. Don't go through your fragrance journey without sampling this. It's one of my top 10 all time favorite fragrances and on the top 5 list for BEASTMODE scents. If you are one who always has a problem with a fragrance staying on your skin or don't get compliments bc you dont think the fragrance is there, here you go. I don't care who you are, this will work. This is a fragrance that you spray on your hand and theres no need to smell it up close, let the smell come to you and fill the room. This is the most important thing I have said, trust me. This juice is strong! If you want to also try another great fragrance from tauerville, try vanilla flash! Great sweet vanilla rose tobacco and lasts forever too! 10/10

The first time I smelled L`Air du Desert Marocain, I felt like I am getting a goose bumps. The smell seamed to crawl under my skin and trigger something inside. For some strange reason, the fragrance seemed very familiar and comforting. It associated for me with Middle East, although, I've never been there, I imagined it smells like this. Anyway, knowing it is such a hyped out fragrance, for the longest time, I've tried to find something wrong with it, tried to be more "original" and like something better. The problem is - I couldn't find similar fragrance I would like so much. So, reasontly I finally succumbed to the magic of L`Air du Desert Marocain and purchased a full bottle. Now that I have it, I love it even more. I used to overanalyze it, when I was testing it, hang up on some notes, thinking "oh, this one is too dusty, too churchy, to dirty". Now, overall effect of the fragrance is much better then I could even hopped for. L`Air du Desert Marocain is simply brilliant. It is old and modern, cool and warm, dry and sweet, quiet but confident, earthy but delicious, sexy but calm, different but wearable, masculine and feminine, elegant but enigmatic, abstract but perfectly balanced..... Love it!

Immersing oneself in the world of Andy Tauer's creation, "L'Air du Désert Marocain," is like embarking on a fragrant odyssey through the enchanting Maghreb desert. As the day's heat subsides, imagine lying in bed with the window ajar, welcoming a gentle, dry breeze that carries the scents of the nearby desert and the spices from the bustling streets of the city. It is within this atmospheric setting that the fragrance unfolds, creating a powerful, sensual, and pure olfactory experience. The elegant top notes draw inspiration from the spice-laden air of the Maghreb, featuring coriander and cumin harmoniously blended with petit grain. The heart of the fragrance surprises with the warmth of rock rose and a hint of jasmine, evoking the essence of a Moroccan night. The base notes, rich with warm woods such as cedar and vetiver, are seamlessly intertwined with refined amber, providing a captivating and enduring foundation. LADDM is spicy, smoky, and very dry — like its name would suggest. It opens with a whole lot of coriander and a virile dose of cumin.... so beware if you’re not a fan of those notes: this might not be your cup of tea! I get petitgrain and geranium faintly, but the cistus labdanum and a smoky vetiver poke their heads out fairly quickly and take over the show. Eventually, they’re joined by birch and cedar and patchouli and amber, the base players in this caravan of spice, incense, and woods. LADDM makes me feel like I’ve just smoked my narghile and thrown on several layers of fabric that’ve been toasted by the sun after days on a dusty trail, while carrying baskets of dry goods and spices. Yet despite what this imagery might suggest, it always feels cool, clean, and inviting. This is a dense but light wear, sitting close to the skin despite its strong character. Rather than being exceedingly diffusive, its strength is felt in close proximity. I tend to wear it on cooler evenings, whether sitting by a fire pit in the crisp air of the wooded highlands, or in formal occasions under business attire. It really is great stuff.

Transportative. Atmospheric. I don't care if I've subconsciously been manipulated by the name of the cologne or the marketing. And I'm sure this quick review won't add anything new compared to what has been said for years and years and years... All I can say is how I feel and what my nose detects. There are not many fragrances I have experienced that have texture to it - three dimensional. Some trickery by way of chemistry has created an aroma that my nose takes in like being in the desert and the wind kicking up and around the sand and that sand blowing into your nose...I get this sensation especially in the first 30 minutes or so. Then there's a part two that feels more lactonic and spicy as if you're in a Middle Eastern cafe that is located near that desert and you're enjoying the aromas of the delicacies being made inside that cafe while the desert wind softly blows in and out. This is an example of niche perfumery at its best and its no surprise why this still continues to be in lists of top niche fragrances of all time.

When I have to review an olfactory masterpiece ( and undeniably Air du Desert Marocain is one ), I cannot help but feel in fear. A complex and structured pyramid, which in my opinion makes it one of the most beautiful oriental fragrances in existence. The overwhelmingly spicy opening given by coriander and cumin, which leave one interdicted, gives way to wonderful dusty, warm, enveloping notes. I will not mention notes, but the wonderful sensation that this scent evokes in my mind: being touched by sand that is getting cooler with the arrival of night, a starry and warm night, in an undefined place in the desert, with the most typical oriental aromas in the air. L'Air du Desert, in its evolution, is able to bring out, in an endless game with my skin, an elegant and distinctive sensuality that makes me feel good and enhances my own being. Wonderful, it could not miss in my collection. Wear it in the warmer seasons to enhance the extreme beauty of this olfactory composition. "Sleeping Gypsy" painted by Rousseau.

شاهکار این عطر همه چیز تمومه.عمیق و استادساز خداروشکر یه عطر خطی و کم تغییره چون اصلا دوست نداشتم شروع عطر تغییر کنه ترکیب روایح ادویه‌ای،گُلی،صَمغی،چوبی به قدر ای زیبا فرمول شده که هیچ نُت ای ساز مخالف نمی‌زنه و یک سمفونی زیبا خلق کرده اند رایحه‌ی یاس آمیخته با صمغ های گرم و نرم پچولی مکمل و کمی چوبی_آروماتیک سخت میشه راجع بهش نوشت و سعی می‌کنم بیشتر ازش لذت ببرم تا در مورد اش فکر کنم و بنویسم این عطر نسخه اولیه تولیدات تاور هست و وقتی کنار تولیدات جدید کنار هم تست کردم،یک شکاف عمیق از کیفیت و پرفورمنس و ... دیدم نسخه های جدید تر ابدا این حالت رو ندارند فضای آمبری عطر سطحی و کم عمق شده و خبری از اون صمغ های دلربا نیست وجه چوبی_ادویه ای هم بسیار دست خوش تغییر شده و در کل به نظرم کسی که با نسخه های قدیمی این عطر خاطره داره،نسخه های جدید نمی‌تونه جاشو پر کنه براشون ***************** scent:10/10 longevity:10/10 sillage:9/10 purchase value:5/10 ******** overall:8/10

This is lovely, sophisticated--not dull though--and extremely well balanced. Although I have passed through the odd stretch of Moroccan desert, I can't rightly say whether it smelt like this. This is a great fragrance either way and does not make the mistake of just throwing a bunch of tagine-friendly spices together and calling the result exotic. There's some caramel sweetness here but there's lightness too, and the depth of the birch (tar?), cedar, etc. The thing is that, though this fragrance is eminently wearable, and quite versatile in seasonal terms, at such a price, one might reasonably expect it to be the kind of legendary concoction that Sinbad the Sailor or Jason and the Argonauts might have taken to the high seas, one very last time, to acquire at the end of a suitably epic quest. It's good--really, really good--but not *that* damn good.

I had a sample of this which I loved with its parched dryness, evocative spice and gentle florals but its intense level of cumin made it a rather daring nighttime only wear. Now I bought a bottle - batch 36 - and the cumin note is much reduced giving a broader and drier feel to the fragrance with less of a peak. It's different but much more wearable and day-friendly so better and sits more comfortably within my range of fragrances, even if not quite such a personal thrill. This is to say if you've bought a sample check how old a batch it is. Not necessarily saying the recipe has changed - AT has confirmed it has not - but old samples from long sat bottles might not reflect a fresh example. I'm starting to lose faith in many of the websites offering decants. I've now had four incorrect ones that could have been disastrous.

This is one of those great fragrance experiences that can leave you lost for words, unable to effectively elaborate upon what you're smelling. One of those examples of where a perfume moves beyond being a kind of personal decoration, into the territory of high art. This is one of those scents which can tap straight into your emotions, and strip you of intellectual artifice. This is one you wear to feel something. Mysterious, dense, evocative, profound. This is not a mere mortal, this is a transcendent being. This is no wallflower, this is a fauve . Probably not for everyone. You do have to commit to this, but when you're finally tired of the countless iterations of non personal, inoffensive, beige perfumes that flood our universe, why not visit the Desert? Monumental.

Tauer should be knighted for creating this fragrance. Do they knight in Switzerland?? ⚔️ LDDM, is one of the very best scents I've ever smelled. Just perfect. First off, this is a wonderful dry herbaceous spicy amber at its core. It feels super creative, natural and relaxed. I want to smell like this. Something like African Leather, which I also own, often gets compared to LMDD...but it's sweeter, more mass appealing AIRY French perfumery. I would reach for this 9/10 times and the one time I would choose African Leather would be for something a little dressier. This is a rare 10/10 for me. *edit 1/23/25 The dry down is perfection. To my nose it expands upon the amber woodiness, especially during activities. Body heat elevates this scent.

Before even reading the brand’s description, this scent immediately took me back to my travels to Erg Chebbi, Morocco. There’s this magical moment around midnight in the Sahara when the world goes silent, unfamiliar and too beautiful for words, like you’ve slipped into an entirely different dimension. The air is dusty, warm, and dry, moving just enough to carry a faint, unexpected spicy sweetness. Not floral, not sugary, just buzzing and alive with an otherworldly energy. There’s also something undeniably sensual about this. Like an embrace from someone you actually want touching you. It’s kind of insane how accurately this captures a place, a time, and a feeling. This isn’t just a fragrance; it’s a masterpiece.

I don't know where to start with this masterpiece. This fragrance is what got me into the niche world. It takes you on a journey as it evolves each passing hour to this amazing ambery base, sweet and dry. The opening is like a huge bomb of spices, which I absolutely love because it feels like an introduction to what you will be able to experience during the hours of wearing this, but all at once. Then it tames itself and you will constantly be noticing its presence without it being cloying. This one isn't a big projector on my skin, but still enough for me. The longevity though is amazing! I may actually try Au Coeur du Désert in the future to compare them both

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then Andy Tauer's masterpiece here is worth a million. Although it is named L'air du desert Marocain, its dryness conjures a certain magic carried on the wind across the Mediterranean to the point I argue it ought to be called Sirocco. Notewise the smoky dryness gives way to the spices and aromatic notes before settling down into a woody, leathery and musky base. Longevity is at least 4-5 hours on me and silage is at least a couple inches. Not exactly loud but neither a skin scent as well. Despite being labeled more of a winter/fall scent, I actually intend to use this for summer nights where I think it will shine best.

LADDM is the peak of Tauer's brand of perfumery. A beautiful resinous amber bomb that never leans into cloying, a cumin and coriander heavy opening, a musky warmth, a bit of a fougere undertone, a sweet drydown keeping everything grounded. I first ate through a 1ml sample, then a 10ml decant. I am now putting a solid dent in a full bottle. I don't find this challenging whatsoever but I do think it has to fit you to truly slip in the background, if so you can get away with a few sprays in virtually any context. It's truly a signature worthy scent, something that so few niche/indie side houses manage to do without completely diluting what they stand for.

Beautiful fragrance, it's easy to see where the hype comes from. Starts off somewhat smelling like a herbal, wet layer of humus in a forest, develops into a cloud of dry, warm spice. My personal preference goes to Au Coeur du Désert Marocain however. It is better at evoking a waft of dry aromatic wind signaling the arrival of a spice caravan that just crossed the Sahara Desert. When I bought LDDM at a boutique perfume store, the vendor mistakenly gave me a bottle of Au Coeur instead. I managed to return the bottle that same day and was given a rich sample of Au Coeur which I still have today. It's used up by now, but the scent still lingers.

I absolutely love this fragrance, and I won't even try to describe it. Many, many other reviewers more experienced and capable than me have done so successfully. Evocative, mysterious, magical... all adjectives one could freely use to describe this masterpiece. BUT I had this in its very first edition. Performance was great. My significant other decided to gift me with a new bottle, some years ago and... not even in the same league. The profile is the same, the performance is, comparedly, abysmal. I don't know if this has been reformulated or what but there's no comparison (and I had still some ml left in the old bottle, so I did compare).

@Curtis Gabriel no, I owned this back in 2016 and recently picked it up again, it’s the exact same fragrance. 8 sprays of this would be extremely loud, I usually go around 4 and it’s extremely strong at first but will last 8-10 hours easy. Are they saying they don’t smell it at all or after a bit? You can go anosmic to this one quite easy with it being so strong and overwhelming. That’s interesting though, I’ve never heard of a fake Tauer, he is a indie house and it’s relatively affordable. Unless you purchased it used and someone left it in the sunlight or in a car, that’s odd.

Very heavy, very warm scent - a must-have on a cloudy or cold day. Very easily oversprayed, sometimes even one spray is too much. Feels like a very warm, very heavy (yeah, I know I am repeating myself) blanket of a scent, one you want to curl under and sleep peacefully. Also, it's very long-lasting and invasive - I got a decant, then put the atomiser into a case, and now the case can't be used for other fragrances, because it's all drenched in this scent. Love it, but it's not for the faint-hearted. Would not recommend blind buying, also don't think it's an everyday scent.

I bought a sample just to see what do people consider as the best niche. If you, like me, expect your mind to be blown, you might be disappointed. It needs a minute or two to settle as in the opening it has that strong labdanum leathery vibe but later it soon begins to fit the name ideally. This smells like a hot desert with sharp coriander, geranium, jasmine, and some green freshness. To be honest in reminds me of Terre d'Hermes - it doesn't smell like it, but it definitely has an earhy/stone/sand like quality with freshness and geranium. Surprising.

This fragrance is a true masterpiece. It smells unique, is a strong performer, does a great job at conveying the imagery that tauer intended: a desert in Morocco at night, as well as somehow managing a modicum of mass appeal. I was worried about the cumin note but it's very well blended, so well Id be hard pressed to believe it was even in it if I didn't know better. Also it is extremely versatile, it's heavy enough to last in cold, but still smells great in high heat, I tested it at 95°f and it never became cloying. I give this a perfect 10

An absolute masterpiece, amongst my favorites of all time. After I tried this fragrance a couple of times, I started to smell it in my dreams. That's how unique and addicting it is. And as enchanting and hypnotic the aroma itself is, the fragrance has a second trait that I love even more: The message of virtue and distinctiveness it gives about the user. Also the sprayer is a virtue, it helps spray very little of this. The only problem that I see is that I never know where to wear it, and it's a bit mature. 9.8/10

Damn. What a scent! I feel like I went in not expecting to like it. I originally got it for a citrus myrrh scent (which imo it doesn't quite have). What I got instead was a beautiful worn of art. Its deeply animalic on my skin, but with a sort of beauty that you don't often see in animalic perfumes. Not sure what season to wear it in, but this is a NIGHT perfume. Update: went through the 2 ml sampler like nothing. Been wearing it to bed even. Excellent.

The Wood components are Texas cedar and Vertofix. The citrus is bergamot and lemon oil. Earthy components are patchouli and vetiver. These make up most of the composition. Round it out with small amounts of labdanum/cistus, ylang, geranium, lavender and most importantly, coriander. Overdose the whole composition with a large amount of vanillin. It’s not the whole composition but these are the natural identifiers you should be picking up.

There are so many comments and reviews I feel like mine will be unnecessary, buy I have to thanks Andy Tauver for being my favorite brand and highet quality between all niche brands that I tested. this one is like real Niche, not claiming to be Niche! I believe this perfume along with Au Coeur Vesrion are my all time favorites... anyone loving this and want to UPGRADE, go try LONESTAR MEMORIES to "Enjoy It" the best way!! DESERVE a 10/10

🥈 Andy Tauer's second fragrance . . . 𓇢 . . . begins your Moroccan journey at a spice souk, with the bitterness of cumin wafting in the air . . . ✿ . . . just before Jasmine enters on a magic carpet, landing on the hot Saharan sands . . . 🌾 . . . and shows you a passing caravan, where you trade the driest vetiver you've ever experienced . . . ⛺ . . . and then you lie on the sand, the smoky cedar nearby, purifying you, hour after hour.

This has become one of my favorites. Very unique stuff! It reminds me quite a bit of an old, well-traveled steamer trunk. It's the scent of a fun, interesting, and well-travelled person—someone who frequently travels to exotic places. If Indiana Jones wore cologne this would be it! It also lasts a very long time. Even 10 hours after application it's still putting out quite a bit of scent. Truly excellent performance.

Good lord. My brain is being rewired as I sniff this. In my mind I see ancient egyptian scenes, that's just me personally. Smells like something primordial that has been around since before the dawn of time and will still be here long after the human race dies out. I really try not to fall for hype and have an unbiased take on things, but no hype could've ever prepared me for this beautiful, sacred juice, genuinely.

This one-of-a-kind perfume takes you on a magical journey, like soaring on a carpet over the breathtaking deserts of Morocco. Apply 5 sprays about 30 minutes before your event, and you'll be set! No need to overdo it. This long-lasting fragrance endures for at least 8 hours and has a distinctly masculine edge. While some may find the price for 50ml steep, the experience it offers makes it well worth the investment.

Absolutely amazing blend of sweet and warm (yet refreshing) spices and a soft sugar coated rose petals. It’s not listed but somehow I can feel a rose note here. For me it definitely smells like Middle East, like a luxurious palace full of freshly cut roses, incense and spices in the air. I'm not going to start repeating what others have already mentioned before me. I can only confirm that it is a special perfume, for me it is a landmark in perfumery, even if it is normal that it is not to everyone's taste. Of course perhaps there are others even better or complex perfumes, I admit that I am subjective considering that I got emotionally attached. On a scale from 1 to 10 i'll give it a 9.5

A work of art. Limited situational viability, but a truly evocative scent. A must sniff for any fragrance lover. It doesn't smell similar, but I had a similar transcendent experience when first trying Frédéric Malle's Monsieur - like being physically transported somewhere through scent alone. Tauer is quickly rising to be one of my favourite houses, along with Amouage and Frédéric Malle.

The first time I smelled this I was disappointed until it dried down, It actually smells like a desert. High honor till we die baby. At least in skin, every time you smell this it smells different, just try it on your skin, trust me on this one, every time you smell this fragrance on skin it smells different every time. I'm speechless. This is the most otherworldy and sexy fragrance I have smelled so far in life. I'm obsessed. This is the scent of a breeze on Tatooine. It's nearly impossible to describe and it's a masterpiece. This was one of 18 samples I got from Lucky Scent and this is the only one I knew I had to have a full bottle of immediately. Swooningly sexy and unisexy. ;)

This is a wearable piece of perfumery art very reminiscent of the feeling a sunset brings. I don't think this is necessarily situational as a cologne you should wear this whenever you like however this isn't necessarily a sexy scent either. Regardless wear it for you as your signature scent a calming beautiful fragrance that I personally can't stop sniffing.

Spicy with a hint of sweetness. Smells rugged and it’s very intriguing. I had to fight the urge to overspray while trying to identify the top notes. Cedar and patchouli on the dry down. Patchouli usually isn’t for me but it’s classy in this package. Skin scent for me after 6-7 hours. Highly recommend adding this if you’re a man doing some sampling. 9/10.

This perfume is a truly work of art! You can't break it down by notes—it's so well-composed... both cold and warm, like the air in the desert. I feel also leather notes—well-crafted and aromatic, with a green hint (may be lavander works like that for me ) even if leather is not mentioned in the list of notes. I’d say it’s a perfect unisex fragrance.

Last month I was looking to purchase new fragrance for my daily work scent and decided to buy BDC L’exclusif. Today I smelled this and I immediately regretted getting the BDC. This is so good, it has a warm ambery subtle sweetness, dry and addicting. In my opinion it is not challenging to wear at all. Really wish I smelt this a month earlier.
