09 Orange Star

I never thought I was going to say this, but out of everything I've ever smelled so far, this is my favorite fragrance. Orange and tangerine are the main notes I can pick out, maybe some neroli? But calling this a citrus scent seems a bit contrived because it's actually so much more than that. It conveys the color orange more than the actual fruit, it’s a vivid, neon orange, but it’s contrasted against a bit of navy blue or maybe dark teal, and it comes off as somewhat nocturnal. It's one of the rare cases where the bottle, the name and the scent are a perfect match. Everything about this is odd, skewed and distorted. It's chalky, oily, shimmering and a bit green, almost medicinal, it vaguely reminds me of car fresheners but in a good way, particularly in the opening. Sometimes it makes me recall the back seat of the first car my family had owned (a 1st gen Ford Focus sedan in "aquamarine frost metallic" with light grey cloth upholstery, and a lingering scent of cheap automotive cleaning products, mild early childhood trauma and a hint of tobacco smoke from my dad's cigarettes). But as it unfolds, there are moments when it really lives up to its name, because despite the nostalgic feeling it also comes off as alien, futuristic and industrial. It has this dry, bright, fizzy texture, and I suspect that it's due to a large dose of aldehydes. It also contains some spicy element, something I didn't realize until 2 of my coworkers told me that it smells like cinnamon. This is a real hidden gem that should, at least in my book, be a lot more popular than it is, but I’m almost glad it isn’t, because I can actually find this one for a good price at discounters. Edit: this is very similar to Incense Rose, another spectacular scent, but I personally prefer this one. This is harsher, but I think that it plays in its favor. To me, this feels more vivid and energetic.

Andy Tauer Orange Star. A beautiful different approach to orange First impressions of Andy Tauer Orange Star are positive and I want to say that this perfume took me by surprise because I did not have too many expectations from a citric perfume. The perfumes based on oranges are many and these days it seems that they all feel the same. Well, the Orange Star is not like that. It is a niche creation that is definitely worth a try. The opening is citrus but not effervescent and the orange is neither sweet nor juicy. Here Andy Tauer left his mark from the L air du Desert Marocain . Orange is dusty, dry this time, a little green and ozonic. Lemongrass and clementines, which also look somehow green, contribute to this sensation. Although the scent is listed as citrus, it feels more ozonic, slightly floral, soapy and powdery. The ambergris and orange flowers do not feel strong but give roundness to green edges of the lemongrass. An interesting perfume, definitely unique and unisex, that can be worn from my point of view in spring and summer. It is a light perfume, it can be matched with a white open shirt but also with a T-shirt. The wind will make a sensation from this creation that has very good performances. On the skin it has a pretty good longevity that lasts more than 8 hours and the sillage is appropriate. It leaves a long trail behind. But the perfume is a mature one reason why I don't know how much it will appeal to beginners. Sometimes I feel like this Orange looks like the Therre D Hermes but there are some major differences. Orange Star is definitely a unique fragrance that you will appreciate over time if you do not succeed on the first try.

I received a sample of this just a few days ago. When I first put it on I was taken aback by the sharpness. It reminded me of the greenish oil sometimes left on your hand after peeling a fresh picked orange. A wonderful thing in an orange, but not really an edge I want in a scent. After 15-20 minutes though that edge softened and merged into a much more appealing melange. It warms, mellows and became very much something I wanted to continue to let develop to see where it went. It stayed close but was very long lasting and moved through multiple phases, soft, warm, spicy...at one brief point almost making me think of a creamsicle (a good thing to me!), each of which I seemed to like even more than the last. I put off taking a shower until morning because I didn't want to wash it off. As an added bonus, my DH who usually says 'Oh yeah, that's nice.', loved it enough to actually want get me a bottle RIGHT NOW! This will definitely become part of my regular fragrance wardrobe.

Like spraying yourself with orange juice I do love oranges especially in perfumery But I’ve never tried something as distinct and as creative as orange juice in a bottle With incredible performance and projection Especially in high heat it sparkles ever so elegantly I love it Yes the only scent that I got a tiny bit of reminders is knize sec but this one is ultimately ten times better I’d go so in saying it’s probably my favorite or second favorite from the house I thought I would get tired wearing it for a long time which happened in other scents but no I enjoyed my whole day wearing it My only complaint is not the liquid itself it’s the sprayer on these bottles I would use pressurized ones that lets me mist all around me I guess when I love a fragrance I can keep typing and rambling for as long as I want

I remember getting a sample of this a loooong time ago and being a bit flummoxed as to what it was meant to be; not being as familiar with the Tauer DNA at the time - I'd expected more of straightforward orange blossom / juicy clementine scent. HA! How naive I was! Recently I was inspired to re-visit this one and ordered another sample. Whereas young me found it strange, abrasive and too heavy hitting, the more olfactory-educated me fell immediately in love with this - for now I get it: Orange Star is predominantly an AMBER fragrance, with orangey highlights! This smells vintage, resinous and gorgeous!! I can't get over how differently I perceive it now! I have yet to add a Tauer to my collection, and this one might be the first (of many!). Orange Star: must! love! Amber!

Got it today and i get why people are conflicted. This is not a summery sporty frag, this is actually more suited for spring/fall season. It opens with a sweet and sour dusty smoky orange that goes soapy-ish after about 3-4 hours, and finally gets into the ambery vanilla base which retains a bit of orange sweetness. This is crazy good actually. Lasts a lot, projects a lot and has a vintage feel to it, one that i found i sundowner as well. To me, the opening actually reminds me a lot of sundowner, but they go very different ways. If you bought this expecting it to be dior homme cologne or allure homme sport, then you will be sorely dissapointed. Wear this if you're going to lunch with someone special or a meeting. You will turn heads.

Delayed writing a review for this one for years. Why? Because it smells like Tauer. And they all kind of smell the same. The same sharp, woody, incensey base. Orange Star is Taueraide with lemongrass, orange blossoms, and orange. Here’s the thing: I don’t get sick of Taueraide. Ever. He can come out with infinite versions of Taueraide, and I could very seriously buy every single one, forevermore. Orange Star is divine! It’s beautiful for fall. It’s a bit balsamic but a bit fresh too. It lasts 12 hours on me with just a couple sprays, although it becomes quite soft after a couple hours. One of the rare orange perfumes that actually smells like orange until the end.

I almost bought a full bottle of this once because I was immediately blown away by it, but upon multiple testings, found it to be too unreliable. Sometimes it smells beautiful and meditative, like a swirl of cloudy orange incense billowing up into the heavens amongst orange shirts hanging on a laundry line in the summer sun. Honestly, it smells like light and airy laundry detergent on the shirt of an extremely attractive man. When Orange Star does this, I can't help but feel like I'm falling in love--like floating on a warm breeze unable to land. Other times Orange Star is disturbingly sharp and smells like powdered detergent. Still, I think I love it.

This was love at first sight. I rarely do buy perfumes which I haven't tried but this one made me go back to the perfume shop minutes after I went away. I wanted that lovely, chic, original, long lasting, marvellous, deep scent. I do not detect notes in particular - apart from the obvious orange - and with Orange Star I experience the miracle I only rarely have and only with few Great Perfumes (i.e. Parure, Mitsouko): Orange Star becomes you, it moves with you, it smiles with you. It develops in a totally original way I would say each different day. This is a masterpiece, after one year of intense wearing I am as much in love as the first day.

This is so good. I love it so much! First loved it in winter, still love it in summer. Does it tell a story? Not really, at least not a story about someone else or somewhere else or somewhen else. No, this is just a story about trying a perfume and loving it and eventually getting it and spraying it on with abandon. If there's a main character, it's the one in the mirror. Perhaps that too is art. What does it smell like? Sweet oranges and incense. There is definitely an incense note, even though it's not listed. There might be a slight saltiness, perhaps from the ambergris, or perhaps that's my skin. I smell delicious.

this is an incredible scent, but very puzzling- I am not smelling the notes that are listed- instead, I get a deep honeyed wood note, mixed with incense! The scent feeling is reminiscent of Alien Liqeuer- but this one has superior longevity and potency- on a par with Serge Lutens' offerings asmhfdbds- to answer your questions, yes- this is a great fragrance for a guy or a gal, and it has incredible longevity- I put on less than 1/5 of a ml 8 hours ago, and the scent has never left my side for a moment- I think it would be fine for any season, but particularly nice for fall or winter

Hello Summer hello orange weather I don’t know why but in summer wearing a citrusy and orange fragrance It’s so nice maybe because of the fresh things i got from it When i spray Orange star i felt very nice and nice smelling of fresh orange like you are cutting very fresh orange and then some mandarin note it’s coming Wow This is perfect actually I love it so much Performance is beyond what i was expected its a art perfume And the longevity its amazing When i enter to my family gathering i got also compliments I love it so much

I love this so much! It so green and astringent and almost gasoline-esque to start with, and settles to a slightly soapy, green and bitter Orange leaf. Then the rich amber, musk, patchouli drydown comes to the fore. It reminds me very much of Tauer's Incense Rose, but rather than the sweet and floral rose of Incence Rose this has greeness, violet leaf and Mandarin to add light and power to rich spicey incense base. I think this is sublime. Having gorged on my tester I must now have a bottle! Sillage and longevity are excellent.

I love powdery scents and I love soapy scents therefore this is a great scent for me. I can see why some would not like this as it does smell a little old lady-like but if you are a colorful and confident person this could do wonders for you. This is a fresh take on a fresh scent that is only half fresh Update - enjoying this more and more as I get to know it. It's very rich, very fresh and very dense all at the same time, and has a super unique aroma. This one's for the heads

I have no idea why this is so hated on, this does not deserve to be rated so low. This fragrance smells like a refreshing fanta on a hot summer day on my skin. It last for ages on my skin too, easily lasting for 12+ hours, projecting the whole way through as once at the end of a long day outside wearing it I got a compliment on it. This fragrance is a simply incredible slept on gem from the Tauer line.

A beautiful perfume. It starts with bright oranges and then goes a bit softer with vanilla and ambergris in the drydown. It never loses the orange note and could be a great masculine or feminine. It's gorgeous. I find with Tauer fragrances that although they are expensive, they are very longlasting- in fact the most long lasting scents I have ever tried. We are talking 12-14 hours for two sprays!

orange star is a beautiful fragrance. the opening is sweet mandarin and orange and bit powdery in the background. on my skin after 15mins it gets a bit softer with ambery orange. then the next 2hrs it kinda develop. i am getting a zesty smell, orange flower and then i was getting whip of a fizzy orange drink. projection and longevity are excellent.i'll be wearing this a lot in fall.

Not your typical orange blossom- at all- Orange Star is to orange blossom as Alien is to jasmine- otherworldly! I continue to get mostly woody/amber accords, not the soapy or indolic vibes that I usually get from orange blossom- I stand impressed by the potency and longevity- the tiniest little amount (1/10 of a ml) lasts all day long Do try it!

Orange Star is another superb fragrance from Andy Tauer. It starts with a full blast of citrus, (mandarin and orange). The dry down is a mix of citrus, vanilla, ambergris and tonka bean. Very pleasant fragrance, with very good silage and longevity. Like all other Tauer fragrances spray with caution, only 2-3 should be enough for this powerhouse.

To me, this has nothing to do with orange or fruits! It is not juicy at all. It is the sweet neroli/orange blossom that is the star in the top and dries down to the ambered, resinous, incense Tauerade base. Love Andy's work. Love this fragrance. It smells like no other house but the House of Andy.

Hello Summer / hello Orange Star I start to wear orange star again which is working super good i like it so much when the day is so hot this fragrance it also work for me in winter too I got 12+ hours longevity in hot days For my review, which you can find it down here Thumbs up!

Finally got around to buying a bottle of this, and so glad that I did...right at the beginning of summer. It’s L’Air Des Alpes Suisses in citrus guise. Wonderful. Just wonderful. Makes me happy. One day I will shake Andy’s hand for helping me smell the way I want to smell!

Perfume is a collector of compliments. I've never heard so many compliments on a perfume as I did when I wore this. It's not citrus - it's Fanta drowned in smoke and brooding sweetness. Thick smell. Lasts forever. On the skin for a day, on clothes - for a month.

Incense Orange could also have been the name of this perfume, as both Incense and Orange are the stars here. Ambergris is also here as a side-kick.

This took me 30 years back to Syria as I enjoyed an orange popsicle by the pool as a child. Lovely sweet orange.

Smells like candied oranges at Christmas.

What's that I smell? It hits me as soon as I spray Orange Star to skin. Oh yeah, it's Andy Tauer's top-to-bottom amber material. Surprise. I think most of his perfumes are actually flankers without an original...? Anyway, that aside, which I'm going to try to ignore (but that would come at the cost of being objective, wouldn't it?), the orange accord to this perfume is gorgeous. It's quite different than how oranges are usually presented to us, in that it is completely removed of all of its sourness and leans heavily into the oily and bitter zest/rind note. Even the orange blossom note has an indolic quality to it that strikes the wearer as atypical. It's a smart pairing with Tauer's cold, dusty, amber as it provides a new texture to the amber we've experienced so many times (groan) by taking the whole of the perfume into what is almost gourmand territory. If any of you have had wassail, a hot mulled holiday wine chock full of sliced oranges and spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, anise, clove, etc.), this will smell extremely similar to you. To keep proceedings from descending into a hot, oily, gourmand mess a very pleasant string of lemongrass, bright and herbal, weaves itself over the top and through the cracks of the heart. On this balmy day, where you noticeably feel the hemisphere beginning its transition from spring to summer, it feels a bit too heavy and thick. But on a fall day this would be perfect, where the brisk weather would be neutralized by the warmth of the amber while providing welcome swells of evocative and refreshing orange fruits and blossoms and lemongrass. Winter is citrus season here in Northern California; once the weather cedes from fall to winter the orange groves are full of fruit bursting with juices and oils. I'm immediately transported to that time of year, when I throw on a sweater and a scarf around my neck, and I'm all smiles and cloud-nine while I walk through the orange groves, warming spicy beverage in hand to help stave off the chill, and I take in the beautiful smells of the groves and burnished reds and yellows of the tree foliage. Orange Star smells like that. It's a beautiful perfume. And, finally, a Tauer perfume that I want to buy.

Hot, sizzling, bubbly, dry, and sweet tangerine soda scent breakdown - Opens immediately with a fizzy and sweet mandarin + tangerine combo with a healthy dose of bitter lemon grass, floral orange blossom, and an unlisted spicy cardamom note. Almost immediately after this opening, the taueraide of ambergris, biting incense, and cedar comes in, almost giving the citrus a hot-effect. In the deep dry down, the tauer DNA comes out in full force, the citrus taking a backseat at this point. personal thoughts - Wow. By far the strangest citrus based fragrance I've ever put my nose on, but because of that it's very addicting. It dances that fine line between citric freshness and bold complexity very well, my hat is off once again to Andy Tauer's talent. To my nose, it's like you took "Incense Rose", took the rose out and amped up the tangerine note instead. DO NOT go into this thinking that it'll smell like any other citrus-based fragrances you've ever smelled before. Kinda smells like you heated Fanta. Definitely overhated because people come in with a certain expectation. performance - Extreme performance and projection as to be expected of most Tauer's creations. Easily 10+ hours performance with strong projection for the first 5-6 hours. rating - 7.8/10 when to wear - Late-spring fast food picnics; Particularly cool summer evenings; Outdoor art exhibitions in the fall song vibe - Dirty Harry by Gorillaz and Bootie Brown TLDR - Sweet tangerine + bitter lemongrass + the classic dry cedar/incense/ambergris Tauer DNA. Bubbly, sweet, and somehow biting and hot. If you want to smell like you spilled hot Fanta all over you, this is your fragrance. A hidden gem from the house, I stg the only reason this gets hate is because people have preconceived notions before smelling this. side note - If this is too bitter or sharp for you, I've had success layering this below sweeter/jucier fragrances. Some examples that have worked for me are: "Clementine California" by Atelier Cologne, "Summer of 84" by Kerosene, and "Red Dakota" by DedCool.

When I first smelled Orange Star, I was struck by two seemingly conflicting impressions: that it was nothing like I had imagined, and that it smelled instantly, eerily familiar. Orange is the star of this one alright, and that's the case all through the development, but especially in the opening there's another accord that's at least as prominent, although it's not mentioned in the official notes: incense! More specifically, except for the orange side of it, it smells almost exactly like the sweet, heavy, (borderline overly) rich incense that's used in catholic mass. Which is a scent I can appreciate in small doses from time to time, but not my first choice for a perfume note. It's a little more on the masculine side of unisex than I prefer at this stage as well. Still, unexpectedly, I find I'm rather into this orange candy flavoured incense opening, and more so the more I wear my decant. So already, Tauer has expanded my perfume horizons once again, and the best part is yet to come! As it dries down, the incense accord calms down and Orange Star gets closer to how I imagined it: a delicious orange incarnation of that wonderful velvet smooth base I've come to associate with this line. Performance is great as well; like every other Tauer I've tried, this one also stays clearly present all day, with an intensity that's just right. I'm glad I tested it mainly after this summer's long heatwave finally broke, though: I think it's much better suited to the mid-season than to the warm months. I'm not sure yet whether I'll reach for this one very often, but there's no doubt I admire it very much. Tauer really seems to be something of a perfume lover's dream brand: all of their scents, at least the ones I've tried, are very high quality, complex and utterly intriguing. They're no crowd pleasers, they take some getting used to, but once you do you're unlikely ever to get sick of them. I can't wait to explore this house more.

Initially this smells like citrus, orange blossom, and spice, possibly cinnamon. It also contains a strange, unidentifiable note that quickly reveals itself as the odor of new leather, the kind of leather than mostly smells like the chemicals used to process it without much of the animal in it. To me, it’s a pleasant smell reminiscent of new shoes (next to perfumes, one of my favorite things to buy). The new shoes gradually take on a more floral, slightly green, slightly spicy, violet scent, which is truly beautiful. After an hour or two there’s a subtle woody note a few inches away from the skin, a strong bitter almond one up close, and something salty and beach-like floating around in wisps here and there on top of it all. As the stuff dries down, the bitter almonds start to be accompanied by a vanilla-tonka like base tinged with just a tiny bit of patchouli. I suppose this is the “amber” that’s listed in the official notes. After about 6-7 hours, just when the scent seems to be on its way out, it gets a second wind, becoming sweet and ambery with overtones of sage and ambergris. This phase is wonderful. The sequence takes an entire day to unfold, so longevity is excellent. Sillage is close to the body, for the most part. All in all, this is a perfume that I would classify as “interesting”, without being completely loveable. There are just too many things going on. The bitter almond, especially, seems obtrusive and out of place, and clashes with the other notes. For me, it just might be a deal-breaker. This is one of those scents that I’ll revisit and enjoy from time to time while my sample vial lasts, while trying to decide whether I feel compelled to spring for a decant.

From a 1.5 ml sample from a sample kit sent with a purchase of a bottle of l'air as a gift which was very nice from the Tauer company. The atomizer on the samples are very good, much better than the ones on the actual bottles. This to me is a fresh, dry, spicy, powdery, aromatic, orange. Some one mentioned "spiced roasted oranges" I was actually thinking something similar while wearing this before reading that review and I agree, it's a spicy orange but fresh. I get a lot of powder, too much for me, I actually really like how this smells but there's just too much of a powdery thing going on for me personally. Someone else mentioned they get an expensive soap, If you were to tell me what I was smelling was a floor cleaner I'd believe that. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad smell, it just had a orange soapy cleaning product smell to it. All of Tauer samples I've tried have surpassed my expectation in the longevity and projection department. This one is no different. They spray on strong and radiate and last. These have performance and strength equal and better than most of the extrait perfumes I have. Overall I like this, it is nice, especially the orange, It has the Taueraid dna, but I don't think I would buy a bottle because it's too much powder for me.

Bitter Orange Peels + Tauer’s Incense Extreme = Orange Star. This is the most apt way I can choose to describe Orange Star, if one is familiar with Tauer’s Incense. Andy Tauer has a signature mark of making all his perfumes feel a tad lonely but self-satisfied and Orange Star is no exception. Tauer’s Incense is the Coldest Incense, I ever encountered. Think of a Monastery deep in The Himalayas. The smell of the Calm and Silent Prayer Hall, with all the heavy Incense sticks burning below the Huge Buddha on a lonely afternoon. The style is meditative. Now add some Bitter Orange Juice and give it a fresh twist. There you get Orange Star. Simple but Brilliant. Unique in every way possible. The only disappointment, for me, with this is, it remains very close to my skin after 3 hours and almost make me forget. Something between like n love. Sillage: Soft to Moderate Longevity on My Skin: Approx 8 Hours Longevity on Fabric: Approx 9 Hours Occasion: Very Versatile. You may use it on a Casual Day or a Romantic Date or To Work. I personally Love it on a Fall Day Rating: 8.5/10

I've sampled two Tauer fragrances so far...both have an opening characteristic of jumping off your skin and hitting your nose with a huge puff of breezy, atmospheric aromas...it's quite intoxicating and something I rarely (if ever) experience with men's perfume. The late drydown of both sampled scents also have a very similar milky, spiced tea aroma, to my nose. But on to what Orange Star smells like to me: this is a weird one. Starts like an industrial, rubbery product mixed with the smell of a very oily orange...not the texture/rind or sour quality but just the squeezed juice. With time, the rubbery/industrial smell goes way and the oily orange remains but it's now supported by an atmospheric airy, breezy, slightly milky/vanillic smell with maybe little bit of incense. Quality is top notch...but that weird rubbery/industrial opening and mid does make you hesitate to blow your hard-earned dollars on a full bottle. Worth a sample.

Projects strongly and leaves an even stronger first impression. The opening is beautiful and strange. The drydown is even better. A lot of people say this smells like a cleaning product and I can’t disagree entirely. But that is just one facet (synthetic citrus and lemongrass) of this. There is a lot more going on here. There are beautiful notes of salty ambergris, dry incense, and semi-sweet amber which meld into the citrus and create something so dynamic and distinctive. Salty, sweet, citric, refreshing, warming. The ambergris note here is particularly fantastic. The appeal to Orange Star is how bright and weird it is. Almost pastel and rubbery. I’ve never smelled anything like it. This is an otherworldly fragrance to my nose. It smells like the sunrise on a distant planet. My suggestion is to spray this only on your bare chest, and stick your nose under your shirt throughout the day. Don’t bother with a tester strip. 8.7/10

*** Fragrance perception is 100% subjective*** I love several Tauer fragrances. Truly, his roses in particular are among my favorites. As I wear this I am clearly reminded of 06 Incense Rose. I've scoured the notes listed above to find out why that may be. I also have the notecard that is included with the sampler sets that accompany the mfr samples from Tauer, and they confirm the notes listed above. This is puzzling, as incense and woods are not in this perfume. I could see many people (both genders) loving this composition. A person who is not partial to roses, and loves incense, should sample this. If I may say so, adding a dab more orange blossom would really make Orange Star hum. I like this... but for me roses are queen, so if I choose Incense Rose over Orange Star, you'll have to forgive my subjective preference. :-)

Orange Star is like smelling citrus through fogged glass-- clean, powdery, and perfectly smooth. Very clean and fresh, summery, but dusty enough to demand a bold wearer. Actually quite surprised this doesn't go sweet or creamsicle with the base notes, instead reading as a very natural and extremely high-resolution orange blossom. The "fantasy flower" feeling is like that I get from Le Maroc Pour Elle; a well-blended smoothness that honestly blows my mind after experiencing mainly busy, discordant designer scents. Too much powder for me, but I'm impressed with the quality and execution of this soap scent.

Tauers take on orange blossom has a lot of mandarin and clementine in it, so much that it becomes "sticky", the same way oranges feel sticky if you spoil some juice on your fingers. Ambergris adds depth and Vanilla/tonka bean adds sweets, and there is probably some of Andys signature incense here as well, but not so much and not at all "dry" and ashy as in some of his other fragrances. Strong, thick, juicy, well blended and longlasting. Not a bad fragrance, but not a personal hit for me. For an orange blossom on vanilla, I prefer Sweet Redemption. 7/10

I like it. But it's very different from any of the Tauer creations I've smelled before. I swear my grandmother's wardrobe from her beach house smells like this. It is a "fresh" fragrance. And yeah, take that "fresh" with a grain of salt. It's a blast of a smell once sprayed. How is it? A mix of detergent, lemonade, and crispy all around. A little bit vintage and very electric. Linear and comforting once it settles into the skin. Great for summer, but could be worn all year round. It smells like a Howard Hughes party from the 1930s. 8/10.

Huh. I found a little sample of this during my (neverending) cleanout, and put a touch on my wrist. This is a thick orange paste (like tomato paste but made with oranges), thick salty ambergris, balanced with bright orange flower and clean lemongrass. It's definitely an unexpected take on a citrus scent, heavy enough to be very noticeable, but still maintains enough freshness to not be too dated. I would wear this in the autumn and winter days, it could be too heavy for the summer.

127)De l'orange sur de l'ambre. Orange: fleur d'oranger, mandarine,... et de l'autre l'ambre: tonka, vanille, ambre gris. C'est extrèmement simple, très concentré et il tient des heures sur la peau. Mais es qu'il mérite un tel investissement? à vous de voir. Moi j'aime beaucoup mais je l'ai acheté en solde à moitié prix ;)

Soft florals, orange, and the classic tauerr base. Similar to L'Air des Alpes Suisses but swapping orange/citrus for the lavendar note. White florals are reminiscent of the Golestan notes, but I think its executed better in that perfume. Not my favorite from Tauer.

This surely is a different take on a citrus fragrance. Intense, long lasting and sweet. I would not call it fresh. I'm not a fan of classic citrus colognes, so this is more to my liking. Perfect choice for those who like heavy perfumes even in the summer ;-)

I've got very strong candied orange. It is beautiful, strong, and quite different from all the orange perfumes I've smelled. It's not for me, but I'd recommend for anyone who enjoys orange notes.

Childhood reminiscences ... soap ... the heat of a wood stove ... candied fruit orange. Particular, pleasant but nothing exceptional.

Unique fragrance. A bit heavy for me, but I like it on men skin. I feel tonka beans with citrus all the time.

Another niche perfume, another wave of nostalgia that you can't quite place your finger on but it makes you uncomfortable. Like my rich aunt's home in the summer except I never felt fully welcomed there. This opens horribly, like nail polish, the dry down is a lot better. Realistic oranges, orange blossom, the ambergris is a bit much here, almost too realistic. The tonka and vanilla is very minimal and only give depth without announcing themselves. I don't hate this, but I never want to smell it again. A woman wearing this, I would assume she bought the first niche perfume she even slightly enjoyed, or was simply coaxed into the purchase at the mall by a skilled saleswoman.

Orange Star is big and weird. It opens with the smell of Pez candy — that sweet, artificial, “fruity” note. And it radiates. This is the biggest sillage of any perfume I’ve ever tried. A few minutes in, a big, musky ambergris comes out, and stands up to the sweet “orange”. Over time, a more natural, juicy, yet ambered, orange blossom comes out, but the Pez smell never goes away. It’s bizarre, but it’s growing on me. There’s a bit of a playful summer-fun-by-the-pool feeling. (Plus the faketastic sweet treats of the cabana vending machine.) The ambergris is very grown-up, the “orange” is childish, and if you give them enough time to meld, the result is interesting.
