L'Eau

I was expecting a somewhat typical citrus fragrance with a Tauer twist, but actually this doesn't match my expectations whatsoever. Instead what I get from L'Eau is Andy's fingerprints in a bottle--the dry, aromatic woodiness present in many of his fragrances, along with the laundry-like musk featured in some of his fragrances. The musk that immediately comes to mind is that which we find in Le Maroc Pour Elle. A little sweet/sugary, powdery, maybe some iris. Both of these qualities, or maybe accords, are ones I love about many of Tauer's perfumes, so I think it's kind of magical to smell it all, stripped down, in one bottle. As I said, this is not a typical citrus fragrance. I actually don't notice much, if any, citrus fruit. The fragrance is not juicy, tangy, sharp or even fresh. I suppose I could say that there is some orange flower here, or lemon blossom, or both. I can't be certain because it's not prominent. Mostly on my skin it's all about the woods and musks. The fragrance does not smell natural to me, which isn't an insult, but an observation. This is more like Tauer "Légère" than "L'Eau". In any case, I really would like to have a full bottle.

Lemons! I've seldom sniffed an EDP that makes me think of pure lemon oil, so redolent of the 'real deal', as this, but Andy has pulled it off, and with such originality, too. This is no light, ephemeral citrus frag, but one with the trademark 'body' and heft that I recognize in so many of his creations. Excellent silage, extreme longevity, and unisex, in my opinion. This is a brilliant addition to his collection. FB worthy. You've done it again, Andy, congratulations!

This fragrance is remarkable! Highly underrated imo. Its multidimensional. Kind of flowery, but mainly oranges over a superdry woody base, it has this feeling of dryness similar to the feeling and smell that you get in a sauna. Very pleasant, easy to wear. Perfect if you want a citrus/freshie suitable for colder weather. I just love this.

The scent of a damp Zurich morning. This perfume creates and aura of floral mist around the wearer. Not aquatic by any means but musky, floral, and totally unisex. The powdery iris is prominent and at the base the ambergris takes over. Very long lasting with moderate projection. A very realistic olfactive expression of mist.

Is it only me who thinks it smells like linden blossom? To be honest, I don't know the smell of lemon blossom, which is indicated as dominant note. Could it be sooooo similar to linden blossom? I feel so natural smell of linden! Nothing synthetic, nice and musky linden scent!

Love, love and love. This is wonderful and something that is easily a signature scent. I have had a few from this guy and I think he keeps getting better and better as he goes. 9.5/10

Nothing I've smelled from Tauer has been a literal rendition of something found in nature, but most have an abstract atmospheric quality that capture a mood or fantasy, and L'Eau is no different (although I do think I expected a departure with something called "L'Eau".) It's identifiably citrus, but neither zesty, nor juicy. The atmosphere is sitting on an old wooden porch overlooking an uncultivated yard on a late summer's eve. A waft of dried lemon blossoms, the dusty haze of old wood and drying wildflowers and grass. In smell, it does remind me a little of lemon or orange PEZ candies. More dusty/chalky than powdery- if that's any distinction. It also reminds me a bit of Tauer's discontinued ZETA, which was based on linden. There's definitely Tauerade in there. There's something mellow and comforting about it and it has some heft, but it's not heavy. I'd wear it on a late summer evening or a warmer Spring day, but I suspect a little too sweet for me for very hot days. It took me a couple of wears to appreciate it, partly because I was expecting something more mainstream citrus cologne. I think if you go in without expectations, you can probably appreciate it more.

Tauer Perfumes L'Eau has received a lot of critical acclaim online, and certainly makes a bit of an impression upon first application. It answers the question (not that I was asking) of what citrus mixed with iris smells like. It's a very citrus-heavy opening, apparently a mix of lemon, bergamot, and orange: I definitely get the orange the least, as it's fresh, but more toward the tart side of the lemon and bergamot. Mixed in with the iris, though, the blend is especially sharp, but dries down more comfortably into a mix of musk and sandalwood. Even in the dry down, though, it's still sharp, the citrus (slightly) and iris (noteworthily) still present. Overall, it's a nice addition to the Tauer line, a robust freshie with well above average lasting power for a scent with its note breakdown, and a solid unisex summer day option. It walks the line between sophisticated and freewheeling. I'm not sure I'll run out to buy this one, but maybe pursue a split in the meantime. Certainly this is one that merits trying, like so many of Andy Tauer's offerings. 7 out of 10

I am so glad I test my perfume samples blind because I knew this fragrance was special even before I discovered it was Tauer L'Eau. Of course, once I knew it was by Andy Tauer I immediately gave myself another dose and came here to Fragrantica to read the reviews. I agree with jmbeans that L'Eau is similar to Malle L'eau D'Hiver (my signature scent). Both are subtle, feather light, beguiling skin scents. L'Eau D'Hiver is heliotrope. L''Eau is tart lemons and a really pleasant and unusual musk. L'eau opens with a gorgeous tart flowering lemon tree. The heart and base notes have a touch of wood and ambergris and a lot of a bright, almost playful musk. Musk is not my favorite note but this musk made me smile. Unisex but leans masculine. Longevity 6 hours. If you like musk, this is a must try.

I'm going to have to agree with esteban747. This is a musky amber with the signature smoke that Tauer is known for. It's a nice combination. The drydown gives me a similar vibe to Gaultier 2, where there is an uknown animalistic note added to the amber and musk. I'm not sure how people are getting anything citrus out of this because I don't smell any such notes. It's a nice fragrance but I don't think I'd pay top dollar for it.

Gorgeous fresh laundered and pressed shirt scent. Typical Tauer quality. Poor sillage further complicated by the scent type so for me this is a personal scent which I group with Gendarme EDP, A Lab on Fire Almost Transparent Blue and Pierre Guillaume Aqaysos which are admittedly stronger. Iris on soft woods leaving it slightly creamy with all the other notes rounding off the body. Male or female any time of the day or year.

I grabbed this on my hunt for a true lemon blossom fragrance based off of the note description. I have to say I was expecting a lot more citrus and white florals but all I get is a woody musk. While not what I was expecting, or hoping for, this is still a really pleasant fragrance and I quite enjoy the musk used here. I look forward to trying it out in the warmer months to see if the heat changes this at all.

I get lots of ambergris. And right upfront. It has that musky-clean scent but also a raw/animal vibe. The slightly powdery flowers emerge later and still the ambergris prevail. Sorry but I don't smell any citrus notes. To my nose this is s ambergris musk fragrance. To sum it up, it has the quality of most musk perfumes, it mimics a skin scent, in this case a summer, bronzed and still warm tanned skin.

This is pure Tauerade – a “lemonade cream” scent, with iris, sweetened citrus, and ambergris. plush and fluffy, like an old-fashioned grand hotel. Despite its billing, it’s not really a cologne. IMO, a cologne should be crisp and bright, and this is a creamy confection. But what a confection! Plausibly unisex, leaning feminine.

Pleasant scent like almost all of Andy Tauer's. A lemon fragrance with a good dose of floral notes. But nothing fantastic as they were "L'Air du Desert Marocain" or "Lonestar Memories". I expect another masterpiece and this is not.

Powdery, musky scent. A bit soapy, a bit like fresh linen. Feels gentle, innocent and softly floral. Closest comparison I have now is L'eau d'Hiver by Malle, but I like this much better. Fans of Chloe would probably like this.

This is the Tauerade base with his version of Shalimar. Think Tauerade instead of Guerlinade. It's similar to Noontide Petals meets Shalimar; citrus, vanillic, creamy floral.

Sweet and edible, like musky lemon cakes on me.

so powdery and musky. Very unisex. Now I do feel a bit bad since I have learned I really do not like musk.This is very much a fresh musk. Kinda reminds me of an everyday white shirt. Fresh clean person skin scent. Every now and then I get a smooth vibe which is probably the wood and sandalwood, which I do really like. I wish there was less musk for me personally. If you like to wear white tshirts in summer or anything casual and looking for a fresh skin type vibe this is for you. I would say 25+. It is more mature.Spring or Summer. Everyday scent. More of a casual fragrance, but still business professional.

I ordered a sample of a different Tauer fragrance online and they kindly included a sample of L'Eau as well. That was very nice, thanks, Tauer! Unfortunately, I can't stand it. Have you ever made popcorn in a plastic air popper? There's a smell from the very hot plastic and almost popping popcorn that smells so much like this (with some sharp iris/citrus combination that smells like cheap baby powder was tossed in). Granted, I really dislike cool iris scents, so take this with a grain of salt.

I have sampled many, many citrus fragrances over the years. Often I see reviews that liken a scent to bathroom cleaner, but this is the first time I have actually felt that way myself. On first sniff I had an instant throwback to the elementary girls' lavatory. The hype for this one is not justified.

I would never have thought to test this out, based on the "clear" description that Andy Tauer gives this scent. Words like "Clean" & "Fresh" tend to make me think of men's scents that are all citrus and "aqua".. yuck. I run from these because it ends up smelling like some crazy scientist with no nose concocting what he thinks "fresh air" smells like. I should have known that Andy would not do that! I just sprayed this tester on my arm, and It is hard to describe. The top notes are bright and somewhat citrusy sweet (lemontree blossoms?) and I can actually detect the lime in there, which surprises me. But the musky base and ambergris must be what I am detecting at the very very bottom of this. On the inhale, its all tree blossom, but boy, just as you hit the end and start to exhale, you are washed in a lovely deep, resinous, sweet cream buttery (?) base. I am terrible at describing notes. Sorry. Someone else will have to step up. Timber and sandalwood? sure! I can detect them here. I can tell you that I really, really like this, and am surprised by my reaction to what I would not normally gravitate towards (scent description wise). This is Andy Tauer's brilliance. In combining the scents into a lovely rolling entourage experience . His signature stamp is in here, along with everything else Andy creates. I don't know WHAT it is, but I can be blindfolded and tested on 100 bottles of perfume from various designers and houses, and I'd be able to pick out all the Tauers. That is not a bad thing. I think this leans towards the masculine if you consider citrus to be masculine, but really, it is dead center to my nose. I think that heavenly base is what does it. (it's all about the base for me!!) Either sex can wear it and if you like a good uni, this is one for you.

Ok, if you were expecting another Tauer powerhouse, you need to know what you're in for, because this Eau is very discreet. It does open with a blast; lemon verbena rocking it with some candied orange peel, sparkling lemon juice and powdery anise. Quickly, it settles into a lovely (but shy) skin scent harmonizing sweet, flowery lemon blossom, some musk and a hint of jasmine and iris. If I try real hard I can detect some sandalwood in there as well. It is all very nice and balmy, a touch too sweet for my taste, a little powdery and sits close to skin. Wearing L'Eau will be like wearing expensive lingery...it feels great, and only you (and your lover) will ever know......

As a couple other people have also said, I get no citrus from this at all. Just a little bit of the lemon blossom - none of the fruit - at all. From reviews I saw, I was expecting a citrusy scent for the summer heat..but this is actually almost gourmandish to me. It is a very buttery and slightly salty iris. I can see why the reviewer below got popcorn. After I read that, it reminds me more specifically of a popcorn flavored jellybean we have here. It's not bad, but not what I was expecting I guess, and not for me. Slightly on the feminine side too, in my opinion

Sleep Water! Chamomile with water lemon, musk, slight ambergris, and worm weather! Like summery. It reminds me allot of a "Jelly Bean" by Baby Bench Colonia, very light like a baby clonia-baby powder mix. At last there is something interesting by Tauer after his hit "L`Air du Desert Marocain", as after that hit he just kept on doing variations of it and name it with different names. He just couldn't get away from it, but now at last something new.

I really enjoy this scent. With more and more wear, the ambergris comes out and it changes and develops over the course of the day. Really interesting citrus florals at the top and a sweet woodsy dry-down. With that said, I know it's discontinued—and I have a lot of bottles to get through. If anyone absolutely loves it but can't seem to find it, shoot me a message if you're interested.

This is a beautiful, atypical clean musky citrus. It reminds me of innocence, clean sheets, and sunny days--with just a hint of baby powder. This is not something that would've impressed me at the beginning of my perfume journey, but it is one I have grown to absolutely adore.

Its nice!! but it smells too close to mosquito repellent coils I have used in my childhood only more potent. I wouldn't want to smell like it!!

I get nothing but baby powder. Is my nose broken? Afterthought: after reading more reviews, I 100% get the laundry smell.

Nice scent, Reminds of Eight and Bob but better
