Les Années 25

Oh this is a surprising fragrance. The more I wear it the more layers I discover. Certainly it’s a lot of citrus and ginger on a thick bed of sweet powdery notes, but there is a large chandelier of spices hanging right over the whole assemblage. I do get the flowers listed, but they seemed relevant only the first time I wore this fragrance. Now they give a roundness and a slightly vintagy vibe, but are not under the spot light... I’m quite sensitive to powdery notes and probably not the biggest fan as they turn dusty on my skin...but here it all works great and the scent is fresh with and edge and this edge has a tiny fine embroidery... Peculiar indeed. Seems like an interesting eclectic person. Like someone with manners from the past, but rocking a modern minimalist look. I feel that if you fancy the notes it is a safe blind purchase. It’s not going to smell like you think it’s going to smell, but you will end up loving it anyway. Great for Spring and Summer....I might have wished for a bigger silage. Longevity is very good and it lasted all day, but it doesn’t project a lot. I’m spoiled with LdDM that comes to me all day long. This is not necessary a bad thing thou. I get tons of compliments and this is definitely a flattering fragrance.

Its so sad that this perfume is limited edition like the natural gem that’s rare When i smell this masterpiece i love that very citrus and ginger coming around that they are reall well balanced together Its different from every citrusy you have ever smell this is something like rare sweet but also in other way no sweeet too its citrusy and bitter and hot and spicy too Its like its name limited edition citrus that would not available everywhere ! I love to wear it in every season it smell fresh and citrusy and also some classic formal vibe in it like vintage perfume but its something else well really hard to describe it too! I can tell you i want to have it in my collection this is something i will wear in spring and autumn and even winter and no mater what i weat formal or casual dress this is something so lovely fresh , ginger and sexy Wow but the bad news is limited:( I love the projection and longevity i get longevity about +8 hours and woth 4 spray great projection as well My rate is : Scent : 10/10 Performances : 10/10 Longevity : 7/10 Projection : 9/10 Unique: 10/10 Value of money : 10/10 Overall : 9.3/10 Thumbs up

I've not been this smitten with a scent since I was in my teens and first discovered fragrances. I love perfume. I read endless writing about perfume. I buy bottle after bottle of perfume. But Les Annees 26 by Andy Tauer, which I bought at Tigerlily in San Francisco, has changed me. It's unlike anything I've come across before—or possibly ever will. Starts of with a citrus blast, a benzoin thread weaved throughout, and a semi-sweet woody dry down that I can only assume is what heaven's lobby smells like. My only regret is buying one bottle. I need another. And maybe another. After all, it's a limited edition.

Taueraide, which I love, mixed with vanilla–like benzoin and tonka beans, creating a slightly powdery effect. Perhaps there are some aldehydes in here too, but not overly vintagey. Citrus in the top. I see no similarity to Shalimar, which if you know the perfume at all, has an enormous and very animalic leather note. I can’t wear the stuff. Plus, this is very woody and has that sharp cedar note that Andy uses in just about everything. No relation to Shalimar. This is lovely, a rare Tauer slanted more for the dames.

Please do not buy this fragrance under any circumstances whatsoever! I need to save up enough money to buy the entire World supply. I was feeling very low indeed and I had a sample of this and put it on and angels came down in the most luxurious and divine cloud and made me feel marvellous. If a fragrance can do this then it is very special. This is however a less than special fragrance review. My interests are entirely selfish...

An absolutely stunning fragrance just like all my other Tauer perfumes. It is a blast of citrus and ginger. I love the comfortable smoky feel. I definitely smell the rose and ylang-ylang in the background. As the day goes on the more I smell it. I get many compliments when I wear this.

This is a review for Les Annees 25 Bis. Spicy, fruity powdery iris with a musky base. There is a happiness and dynamism about this perfume so I get the 20s reference. Very well executed. Reminiscent of L'Heure Bleue and Shem-el-Nessim.

This perfume has many layers and I love it:) It has a vintage feeling. Like old furniture and old roses. It is like the scent when you open an old cupboard and find dried flowers from many years back.

Fragrantica really should make separate profiles for Les Annees 25 (2018, limited edition) and Les Annees 25 Bis (2019). They are two completely different fragrances.

The opening is a bright, juicy orange pierced with a beautiful, energetic ginger that has so much effervescence, it almost smells carbonated! Definitely a fizzy, orangey-ginger blast. A minute or so in, the iris comes along and throws a heavy baby powder blanket over everything. All I can smell is chalky, orange baby aspirin for several minutes. At this stage of the development I struggle to find anything pleasant as it's just far too powdery. But hang on, it does get better! After what seems like ages, actually within half an hour or so, I pick up a beautiful woody/spice accord. This is where the magic happens. A melange of spices join forces with woods, resins, and dried flowers to create a warm, exotic Oriental with the "far away" feel of memories. There is a bit of dark melancholy to the drydown that is quite a stark contrast to that juicy, vibrant opening. It's quite lovely to my nose. Even though I could really do without the iris baby powder bit, the overall fragrance is multi-faceted, nuanced, and above all, inviting and wearable. There's a rough-hewn, artisanal quality to this fragrance that keeps me coming back to it.

I blind bought a bottle and this review is on first wearing: in the bottle and on a test strip it has the typical, wonderful Tauer DNA with the creamy smokey base and some florals; upon application to the skin, on me it is a bit plastic in the top with some citrus then in the middle is some nutmeg, spice and tonka, then the drydown is a very very dry leather. When I finally reached the final base, it was tonka, nutmeg, iris and some sweetness though not like a ylang. Nothing heavyhanded. Smooth and creamy. Would swear there's sandalwood here. There is nothing vintage about this as some have said. It smells like a cured/tanned hide through the middle. The leather of sniffing a new purse or wallet. I love Tauer. He's my fave indie/niche house. But, I must say, this isn't equal some of my faves like LDDM or Lonestar Memories. It lacks the power and projection. If Au Coeur is LDDM times two plus Lonestar Memories and more leather added, this is like LDDM divided by two. It is a weaker, softer, version as if you took a strong old Tauer and diluted it. I like it but it's not a love at the top of the house for me.

Opens very spice heavy with a powdery iris. Kind of reminds me of an old 80s type of fragrance. I do also get the musk. I just cant help but feel like it reminds me of something my mom would wear when I was a kid. I think its the powderiness of this fragrance that reminds me of a vintage perfume. It also reminds me of going to the beach and staying at a bed and breakfast that is 1800s style. It has ornate wallpaper and old musky chairs. This is nice but not for me, it is too vintage for me. Strikes me as something my mom would wear. I do not think it is work appropriate because it is a little much, but maybe with a light hand.

For me it is a very beautiful and top solid fragrance, nothing less that you would expect from Andy Tauer. On my cold skin it opens with the head-breaking, sweety bergamot sent and after about one hour it transforms into warm musk base with a slight vanilla undertone. It would suites perfectly some one who has a love affair with a musk types of the perfumes.

Bis version: Beautiful sweet powdery benzoin, not too grand or vintage, (yellow) fruity floral, nothing sharp, similar vibe to Creed Fleurs de Bulgarie (but doesn't smell alike).

It is a strong vintage amber musk with roses, patches and a spicy, citrusy ginger texture, fresh and long-lasting which together with the sweetness of tonka fits well on an elegant, serious and mature man. The base is strongly powdered and must be... dosed!

This smells like a trainload of old school masculines (Old Spice) and a trainload of old school Guerlain feminines (Shalimar) collided head on in some ill advised game of chicken and Andy Tauer tried to recreate L'Air du Desert Marocain from the resulting chemical spill. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily. The first thing I smelled straight out of the bottle was a beautiful citrus note, like a sparkling version of Shalimar. At this point I was tipping toward love. Next up was the Tauer-ade which I have no idea how to describe except that LADM is it's purest expression. To me this is an amber fragrance more than anything else. An amber fragrance in which the spices (nutmeg?) reference old style masculines to a distracting extent. Honestly, I don't know about this one. There's a lot going on, a lot of references to other fragrances a sort of head spinning back and forth. It's crazy and it's interesting and maybe, in the end, it's simply too much.

This is strong, suffocatingly powdery, and lasts for ages--I could still smell it on my wrist a couple days later, even after showering. I don't get the other notes people mention because the powder is so assaultive. But I love other Tauer fragrances and highly recommend ordering their 5-vial discovery set tin from Switzerland--I'd just skip this one.

Chemical infested glade air freshener. Burns my nose. Horrible!

(Les Années 25 Bis) If Shalimar had a baby with Musc Ravageur, it would be this. Overall, it's very reminiscent of Shalimar, without any of defining characteristic of Shalimar. It does have bergamot at the opening, but it's not nearly as citrusy. It's not leathery. There's not a ton of vanilla. But somehow it's the modern Shalimar flanker you've always dreamed of. Go figure. It has warm, sweet musks of Musc Ravageur-- which, to me has always been more conforting than beastly. (The other child of Shalimar and Musc Ravageur is the fabulous Eris Night Flower, but that one is way more leathery.) I get a gorgeous peach at the top. Throughout, there is an rich, expensive-smelling iris that is just gorgeous. There's some subtle spices and amber. Because it uses more naturals and is more artisan than today's Guerlains, it gives you a sense of what grand parfums were like in their glory days. But for those same reasons-- the great materials and craftsmanship-- it doesn't feel old fashioned at all. It is honestly one of the sexiest fragrances I've smelled in a while. It could somehow read as either high femme or deeply masc. So good. Bravo, Andy Tauer.

I'm amazed by all the varying reviews here, some resonate, some seem like they are smelling a different perfume! (This is BIS 2019) My take on this is that it's a luxurious, regal, vintage scent. Powdery, creamy, balsamic, spicy, i get Shem el Nessim, L'Heure Bleu vibes. (And Espirit de Oscar for all the budget conscious) Definitely not a young scent, more for the classy rich 40+ who lives in Mayfair. Strong long lasting vetyver drydown. I get similar vibes from my Shalimar extrait but only in genre; this is much more spicy. ** Full sample availble for swap - along with many other niches - get in touch! Reading the other reviews I am wondering whether my sample had gone off - my experience was nothing like theirs. I got the citrus and ginger, plus something very medicinal that was really unpleasant, perhaps an overdose of civet. About 20 minutes later the scent began to reek of cough medicine, and I had to scrub it off! I cannot imagine ever wanting to smell like that, which is why I suspect my sample was faulty in some way. Having said that, I am not a fan of Tauer in any case, as I detect a nasty petroleum note in every scent of his that I have ever sampled. The fragrance company added this sample free of charge to the others I had ordered. Now, if I ever receive another free sample of Tauer, it will go straight into the bin. For lovers of strange smells only!

Smells very nice and safe, very light, yet tenacious. Powdery, greenish florid light muskiness. A very ununctuous Iris, bringing out all the delicate, juicy sides of these floral qualities! Smells very similar to L'eau or L'air Des Alpes Swiss maybe. I don't really think it smells old fashioned. It's completely streamlined to my senses, aerodynamic. Maybe the dewiness of it sets it apart from something more oriental such as Shalimar. I love it when Tauer tries to define a single quality, to bring out the light in his compositions!.

My first impression was that A25 was inert, sweet, and banal. Half an hour later I can't decide if I'm in a candy store or a shoe repair shop, and I don't want to leave either. The sweet citrus and camphoraceous elements seem to fight for dominance until you realize they are singing a bizarre harmony and doing it perfectly.

Sour incense. It's sour, citrusy, bit woody, and max incense. The colder it goes, the more woody, more rosy it become & the nutmeg comes up slowly. It's Tauer's but his stamp is barely there. I believe this is a new woody sour incense blend which worth the limited edition quality. Nice.
