Rose Absolue

2025 is turning into a banner year for this house as I’m wearing another beautiful scent from Andy Tauer. I only wish he would stop making me lust after another perfume I can’t afford. Below a reviewer mentions Oud Satin Mood, and I agree that their are the similarities in the opening— but instead of oud it’s a smooth, natural ambergris that forms a structure for the other notes to mingle. And what a gathering! Yes to jammy, but in this fruit compote I also pick up citrus. Absolutely stunning. Fit for a diva—-or a weekend kicking back in leisure wear.

Instant classic, I suppose. High impact rose, it's making me emotional, nostalgic. Juicy, syrupy, red red rose. The amber accord has an almost leathery feel, maybe even like a fruit leather. I am getting a lot of geranium too, verging slightly on that greenness that reminds me of natural bug spray. But really and truly rose is the star and as someone below said so well, it's like all the other notes are floating around the heart of this red juicy rose. Bought a full bottle swiftly, perhaps impulsively. I love her.

It’s a very beautiful jammy, fruity, ambery rose. This is similar to oud satin mood but more fruitier. It dries down to some dark sweet syrupy rose. The fruitiness remains until the end. Gorgeous. I’ve tried everything from Portrait of a lady, Radical Rose, Atomic Rose, Rose Prick etc. this is my favorite rose fragrance ever. Full bottle worthy for sure. Longevity is incredible. I sprayed it on at 9pm Saturday and could still smell it by the next day at 5pm Sunday. 9.6/10

A confident, put together man (like me) can wear this, thus my unisex rating. But... I really love smelling this on a woman more than on myself. Can I wear it? Confidently, yes. My decant is bound to run out, and I will need to decide if I buy another decant or a full bottle. But I do want to keep this handy as its a truly beautiful rose, with a touch of fruitiness. And I secretly hope my girlfriend will decide its hers.

This is lovely, the best rose ever. It is not simialar to oud satin mood or Atomic rose, those are way too sweet while this one is a little bit sour. Beautiful, highly recommend!

This is a very jammy rose — deeply not my thing but I will try to give an objective description: The rose itself reminds me a bit of the bright red rose from incense rose, with an almost tomatoey undertone, but swirling around it are fruity notes (oranges and red currants), a pinch of spice and a bit of sawdust, suffused by an amber glow. Imagine the tobacco sweetness of une rose de une rose de Kandahar replaced with a luminous fruity sweetness and you are in the right ballpark! Edit: After several more wears in cooler weather I am enjoying this more and more. It suffuses the whole world with a slightly garish, orange and red glow. It could be perfect for you if you are far far too much! I can picture a contemporary James St. James wearing this, for example. The perfume equivalent of a ruffled polka dot dress and a clown nose ❤️

Fruits in this are pretty strong in the opening. The effect of the rose is also prominent, and absolutely (as I’m sure you can imagine) functions as the center of the fragrance. That said, all of the other notes on this composition revolve around and are united by the rose. The best way that I can describe it right now is to say that all of the notes have their own special relationship with the rose, and all of the other notes only interact with one another through their connection with the rose. I’m not sure if that’s a result of the structure of the composition itself, the way it was blended or both. Either way, it’s quite spectacular! In the dry down it becomes more smooth and the sweetness sort of tones down a bit, but the fragrance itself still pumps! Masterfully blended and completely unisex.

On initial stage smells like what dry sour grapes, or dry wine taste like. A slight citrus note that mingles with jammy, syrupy and sour-dry fruitiness. Also reminding me of sour cooked cranberries or sour cherries without getting too realistically fruity. I agree with the person underneath me that all notes in here seem to serve as supporting notes, playing along the main character and fuse into a vivid perception of Tauers’ rose. A rose that is red in colour. Natural. Clear and direct. 9/10

Finally got to test this fragrance — it is absolutely unisex. As someone has pointed out, jammy rose is at the heart of it. I would only add, salty jammy rose it is. Has the Tauer signature note in it, reminding a bit of Sundowner, but much more flowery. Very enjoyable.

Heavenly. Immaculate. The blessed Virgin Mary herself. Wearing this is a spiritual experience. Intangible. Purifying.

This made me wretch over the side of my bed so that was nice.
