Calming Lavender

Interestingly, I only get the full effect of the lavender for the first few minutes after application, and then again starting about an hour later. In between, there's there's a general spicy floral scent -- very pleasant, but not specifically lavender.

Right. I've just sprayed myself in the eye with this stuff...anyway, I've got an older bottle. It smells...unfortunate. But I'm sure the new scent smells a lot better. What I smell the most is...well. I guess something synthetic, kind of like a polish or something. Slightly woodsy. I guess it's the scent of an old chair that was in a closet for a long time with cleaning or polishing implements. Not terribly disfavorable but not at all delightful. One thing that it does have: Longevity... There is the ghost of a lavender note, floating somewhere, aloft. My eye stings.

@purelight, I am fairly confident there are no animals in the contents of this perfume. If you're looking for cruelty free, that claim has not been made on my vintage can, hopefully newer ones will be more transparent. I have the old aerosol 100ml spray of this and it has sat there all these years, mostly untouched. I love lavender and soft powdery clean scents, so why don't I reach for this? Well, I have a ton of other perfumes and am long over body sprays, for one. I don't know if this newer bottle listed above on fragrantica smells anything like my aerosol body spray, but I have much preferred it for a room spray all these years. A room spray i haven't hardly used... probably 10 years I've owned this and maybe sprayed it 5-10 times. Can't even find this version online save for in a gift set I finally found in some obscure site. Mine has a white can and a white lid with a silver line going horizontally around. Looks different than the one that comes up under a regular search. Wonder if the smell is much different... It's a hot muggy early summer night here in Ontario and I am drenched in sweat. Grabbed for this spray to remind me I am bathed and clean under this layer of fresh sweat, and am once again reminded of why I don't reach for this one often. More like every couple of years, and 9/10 times it was used to freshen the air rather than my skin. You know that notorious "cologne" smell that cheap colognes are overpowered by? The one that once it's faded 2 mins later takes the scent of the cologne with it? It's so intense with this. I re-sprayed. This time, more aggressively. Moments later I am getting whiffs of lavender, faint but present. Doubt anyone else would smell it on me, but I swear there is a light whisper, then it's gone. Did my nose make that up? Or maybe when I sprayed, the scent got into my nose hairs and that is what I'm smelling? No.. I think not. I held my breath when I sprayed. So where is it? Moments after spraying and it's like I've sprayed nothing. Shaking can again, spraying again. Hoping this just needs a few minutes to make up its mind, otherwise it will go back on the shelf to be (never) used as a room spray. I've tried Yardley lavender soap a few times and enjoyed it. I get more scent after a shower with that soap than I am with this "body mist" aerosol spray now. I would hope the perfume would last longer... but sadly, unless someone gave it to me for free or charged only 1$, I would not ever pay money for this. What is the point of these aerosol sprays? Honestly.. what a waste. I have another old spray that looks like this one, also by Taylor of London, called Tropical Frangipani. Smells like flowers. I just sprayed it on top of this and it is much more noticeable, but let's see if that lasts. Mmmm.. so green and fresh! Too bad that isn't in the databank here. Wonder if we can still get that one? Would love that in a perfume version. Ahh, I just realized why I was drawn to the lavender just now tonight. I'm so bloody hot and own a very old b&bw Midnight Pomegranate "cooling mist" and I'm desperate to cool down, but didn't want to smell like that crap. Not sure why I have kept it. Maybe I need to test that one as well to figure this out. Maybe it is time to sell all my body mists... have a full vintage Midnight Pomegranate fragrance mist as well as full twilight woods, half bottle of secret wonderland, 3 vintage VS body sprays, and a full bottle of b&bw Frosted Snowberry. I'm not using any of them. What a waste of space when someone could be enjoying them.

This was the first perfume I ever fell in love with that didn't give me a headache; I bought it in my early twenties and have continued to wear it the past 12 years. On my skin, this perfume lasts half the day and I can always smell it, but it doesn't project more than a couple feet. I think it performs well considering that it is inexpensive; besides, I prefer to have to re-apply a perfume rather than endure a powerful one until it tones down. I often go for unisex fragrances, and this lavender with its woody and spicy notes I find to be calming and deeply satisfying.

Hi, Where Can I find these perfumes now? I need to buy all 3 fragrances - lavender, rose and freesia. I am unable to find these online, please suggest.
