Mr Taylors

I've tried many fragrances, and I think this is the quintessential British fougere. Like ElMatador75 says, it's close to Grafton, but I think it's better. I recently ordered five different Taylor of Old Bond Street deodorants to try out all their scents: Mr. Taylor, St. James, Sandalwood, Jermyn St., and Eton College. They are all good, but Mr. Taylor is the one I have developed an insatiable desire for -- I keep smelling my armpits when I'm alone! I just ordered the aftershave and some shaving cream. I used to like British Sterling, which my father always wore in its deodorant stick form, but this is even better. Floral without being too feminine, and green and woodsy. Aromatic fougere is an apt description, but I am at a loss to explain how Fragrantica came up with "fresh spicy," as there isn't really a trace of spice in it. Maybe they are thinking of the patchouli element, I suppose. Anyway, thumbs way up. Distinguished without being overly old-mannish (I'm turning 40 this year.) Excellent daytime scent for crisp winter and spring days.

Fresh, smooth, silky lavender and citrus, drying down to a spicy herbal gentleman's scent. Old school but not offensive, just a pleasant, classy English vibe. Scent: 7.5 / Sillage: 7.5 / Longevity: 6

Mostly a lavender, bergamot, leathery spring-autumn cologne, very pleasant, but the longevity is weak only 1-2 hours. Would say, its a daily aftershave for more mature men.

Comparing it to Grafton, Jazz, and Safari, none of which have these notes? And all the whining about longevity for a $25 cologne?

Great scent but the fragrance has no staying power whatsoever. I use it as an aftershave. I really wanted to love it but I probably won't buy again. Way overpriced for the poor quality and that surprised me because most of Taylor's products are amazing.
