very nice flowery-powdery-woody blend, tobs sandalwood fits good on a gentleman over 30, not modern but old-fashioned in a good way. of course the sandalwood is very prominent and the smell is the same of the shaving cream, which works perfectly on my skin. someone says it smells like an old grandpa, i know what they mean but to me tobs sandalwood reminds me a gentleman like Rupert Everett in "the importance of being Earnest". not cheap for a cologne or a/s, i found a good deal(20euros) on internet, but the quality is high. the performance is just ok, better in longevity than projection and sillage. better in cold seasons. the only bad side is the bottle without the atomizer, i dont like to splash the cologne. great scent, not for everyone so dont blind buy, i think the lovers of wet shaving like me will love it. colonia molto inglese, un pò terrosa e floreale con il sandalo in primo piano. non per tutti, va bene per chi ama fragranze dal gusto vintage e di qualità. per gli amanti della rasatura tradizionale come me. scent-8 long-7 sillage-6 uniqueness-7,5 versatility-7 bottle-6 compliment factor- 6,5 rebuy?yes my vote-8 in one word- english alternative- geo e. trumper sandalwood the review is based on the cologne.

Well 'ello there love! Fancy a cup of tea? Sorry, I had to get that out of way. When I first smelled this one, what immediately struck me was that this was a very proper English gentleman's fragrance. Not necessarily an upper-class high-society English gentleman, but definitely the sort of thing you'd imagine an English dandy in a tweed suit would wear. Think Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer in the "Just Like a Chap" video. The main notes I get from this are Sandalwood and Incense, which I absolutely love. Not only do I have a bottle of this scent, I also just finished up a tube of the matching shaving cream for it, but that's part of the reason I love it; it has that classic sandalwood shave cream smell to it. Is it a grandpa or "vintage" smell? Yep. Do I care? Not a bit, my good sir! Everything that is old becomes new once again sooner or later. :-) I don't think this one is entirerly suited for everyday wear, definitely not your blue-jeans and graphic-tee or going-to-work type fragrance. Save this one for when you're getting dressed up -- properly dressed up -- to go out somewhere.

Honestly probably my favorite scent of all time. I really don’t have much to say about it, because it just fits me. It’s like asking someone why they love their wife or why their favorite food is Thai food. Sometimes a feeling is just a feeling and you have no reason to explain. My friends ask me why i love this fragrance so much and i just say “well I just do it suites me” A warm, spicy, comforting smell that just makes me feel good inside. It is complex enough to keep me interested throughout the whole bottle, but simple enough to wear just about anywhere and any situation, though I find it slightly formal. I get mostly wood and powder, but also a bit of a lagerfield like orange and some cinnamon. It’s just really great, like a well made cigar or a classic movie you keep coming back too. It’s actually honestly the only fragrance I re-up on. Make sure to get the matching soap, which is of high quality and lathers well and last a long time.

I found this online for 20 dollars and what a joy to put on after a nice wet shave. Creamy sandalwood with some powdery notes, and a depth in the base as well. Of course, it is a cologne, so don't expect great longevity. But it makes you feel like a gentleman first thing in the morning. Honestly, I can't separate the individual notes because it is so well blended. Add to this some sandalwood shaving soap, and Black Pepper & Sandalwood EDP from Acca Kappa afterwards and I'm a happy camper. This has a splash top, but the hole is small enough that you won't be wasting any of it by mistake. A classic gentlemanly scent that is not dated, but most likely not appreciated by the young whippersnappers.

Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood... ...is a very beautiful classic scent which surrounds you with a certain warmth. While Proraso Sandalwood red is giving sandalwood an Italian touch, TOBS Sandalwood is adding some britishness to it. A soft opening transforms into a nice powdery sandalwood. Not old school. Not cheap, no Jovan Sex Appeal (?!). As a passionate wet shaver with way too many after shaves in his cabinet, I really appreciate TOBS Sandalwood.

Possibly the BEST Sandalwood fragrance for a true gentleman. Some will not appreciate this classic old world style fragrance but to me it's perfection. It has a clean, powdery, upscale soapy vibe with a clean soft Sandalwood note front and center! It's not the best performer but the products in this line from TOBS are almost limitless. I have the shaving cream, Aftershave and Cologne and the profile is spot on with all the products. A 10/10 classic!

Windsor Davies as the Sgt. Major in, "It Ain't Half Hot Mum". Obviously, he close shaves with a straight-razor. This slaps on ascerbic and dry, with the rosemary, lavender and fern standing out. Commands attention at the outset but within twenty minutes melds neatly into a slightly powdery, somewhat effervescent sandalwood (the geranium kicking in?). This is starched-collar, old-school style juice, and just my speed. Great stuff!

Lovely sandalwood with a soft, powdery, slightly sweet, gentlemanly, and slightest hints of citrus. I would say classic more than dated, it's a timeless scent. Not a loud and clubby nor strong synthetic scents of today, but a natural soft creamy sandalwood. Very unique among sandalwood scents as it's more woody conceptually than actual woods one normally associates with "woody". Scent: 8.5 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 6.5

A very nice slightly sweet dry woody scent, sandalwood is definitely the main note along with some others listed above it smells like a true classic fragrance for men this is a love at first sniff for me I wish I could smell like this all the time If you like Chanel egoiste, Geo f trumper sandalwood, gurlain heritage then definitely check out tobs sandalwood as you won't be disappointed it smells exquisite.

This is that gorgeous old-school shaving-foam scent, done beautifully. The opening is a little bit strange but then you have this wonderful creamy sandalwood on you the whole day. It doesn't feel old to me, it feels classic. Men once smelt like this when they were young.

Gorgeous sandalwood,very subtle, a very well blended cologne, fresh, clean, aromatic. The longevety is ok for a cologne, but for the quality and the history of the brand, is well worth have this beauty in any colection..

Sharp, metallic, herbal opening. Soapy and slightly powdery dry-down. Über masculine and very old school smell. I love these vintage fragrances, but this one is not my favorite. Too sharp on the nose.

Beautiful old-fashioned fragrance! All I smell is sandalwood and musk. For something cheap, it’s high quality, and it has great longevity, even with the aftershave and the shave soap.

The Taylor of Old Bond Street shop in St. James's is in close proximity to Geo. Trumper and Trufitt & Hill: each offering traditional English gents barbershop service by appointment. In the early millennium on a visit to London I treated myself to a wet shave at the Taylor's shop in Jermyn Street. It was a memorably wonderful indulgence undertaken by a charming gentleman who taught me the finer skills in the art of using a straight razor. I'd recommend it to anyone, if only to experience it the once. The immaculate and welcoming cubicle was equipped with well-worn furniture and fittings to be almost museum-like. A serenade by a barbershop quartet was all that was missing! The experience concluded with a generous application of Sandalwood moisturiser and cologne. Before leaving, I purchased a supply of the same, and it has made a regular appearance in my bathroom ever since. (I'm not brave enough to go with the cut throat.) Taylor's Sandalwood is a simply beautiful assemblage of floral notes, framed by a soft foundation of sandalwood and musk. A fresh, light and clean scent dominated by lavender, carnation and geranium very much in the style of fine hand soap. Choose the cologne against the aftershave for superior if modest projection and longevity. Good value for sure.

An atom bomb opening! Sharp herbals, spicy carnation, and that signature "cologne" fresh citrus. But a touch of the synthetic strikes. This all quickly settles down to make way for a smooth, creamy and almost talc powder sandalwood that's supported by subtle rose and musk. In the dry down it becomes smoother, powdery, slightly florally sweet, with some incense notes. A moderate if not fleeting projection. 4 hours solid performance would be fair. The dust has settled. Being English, and an old soul at heart, I have an affinity for our old world fragrances. This is more something I'd splash on at home alone, something a niché collector takes personal enjoyment in for both its scent and heritage. The images it might invoke. Weaker concentrations get a bad rap for lack of projection or performance, but historically you would splash it on throughout the day when you needed refreshment. The carnations cause an almost dying flowers meet incense note that can smell dated to most (think your uncle or late gran), and I think younger generations will find this very challenging in the day of modern perfumery. If you want a modern (but still British) take on this then Dunhill's Indian Sandalwood will fit the bill.

Oddly addicting and relaxing!! At first I thought I was going to hate this as it opened with that very old school spicy smell and kind of reminds me of old spice ! However once it dries down fully you get a very nice old school smell that’s very powdery and aromatic. It does also have a perfumey smell as well making it smell slightly feminine but I just really dig this stuff. I don’t think it will be a hit with the ladies but I’m enjoying this just as a scent to splash on after a shower and just find it so relaxing and soothing once it settles ! Performance on me is great as it lasts 6-8 hours and is not the biggest projector but it does leave a very heavy and noticeable sillage trail. Overall rating-7.5 out of 10 ! Great old school scent but unfortunately I think I’ll only use it after a shower

Now this is a old school traditional fougere fragrance from the Cary Grant school of gentlemen. There are not many of us left in the world. After you have splashed this on as it does not come with a atomiser. You will be greeted by a fresh soapy mix of rosemary, geranium and lavender. It is very soapy and herbal but it radiates off your skin very nicely. Giving you that clean feeling that you have shaved and are ready to meet the world. As it dries down you get a slightly spicy powdery sandalwood until it fades. Longevity for me was about three to four hours which is what I expect from a cologne concentration. All in all a very nice soapy dapper scent for a gentleman who likes to feel clean but does not want his fragrance to make any kind of statement.

Classic men cologne, a bit heavy at first glance, more suitable for colder days and older vintages, rather for occasional wear. It reminds me of Alpa Farao cologne which was popular in the 1970s-1980s. Try before buying. Use very moderately.

This is a nice scent. It is warm and creamy. I think about my grandfather when I smell it.

This is a pleasant enough fragrance, if you like sweet, spicy, woody, cloying drug store stock men's cologne. As a "luxury" cologne, however, I was somewhat disappointed. My benchmark for sandalwood colognes is Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood and Taylor of Bond Street is simply not in the same league. Indeed, I would have expected sandalwood to figure prominently but found in reality that it struggled to make itself noticed amongst the dominating sweetness and spice. What woodiness there Is present is indistinct and more reminiscent of wood shavings than the definitive fragrance of sandalwood. Do I wear Taylor Sandalwood? Yes, occasionally, but only to keep my wife happy as she bought me the bottle as a gift. Do I enjoy it? No, because it reminds me that that I have Crabtree & Evelyn in the cupboard and am missing out on the pleasure of wearing real sandalwood. If you are considering investing in Taylor Sandalwood, do yourself a huge favour and checkout Crabtree & Evelyn first. If you still want to purchase Taylor, then at least it will be an informed purchase.

As classical as sandalwood can get. For me personally, it is too loud with the sandalwood to enjoy. If you're a huge sandalwood fan, maybe you like this one. It projects heavy for 1-2 hours. Total longevity for me seems to be in 4-5 hour range. Blind buy? No. Sample first, even if you like classical fragrances.

The following is in no way a criticism - merely an observation. For many the thought of a Jermyn Street cologne conjures up an image of an older, posh but reserved, albeit classic masculine fragrance. To my humble nose this is, on the contrary, an old, quite proper, but somewhat stuffy middle-class lady. And though I am extremely reluctant to attach gender to scent, I confess this takes me back to my maternal grandmother's arms! Again, not a negative critique! It is what it is. And it is decidedly civil. Reassuring even. But either my gran wore men's cologne (in an age when the line between his & hers products was clearly delineated) OR this was unisex long before it became fashionable (... again). Not terribly faithful to me for a portrait of SANDALWOOD as an "eponymously" named scent might suggest - I do get an awful lot of powder though (which is probably where my grandmother comes in) with the lavender, patchouli, and touch of carnations in the pot. Were I in the mood for that milky wood I'd probably reach for SAMSARA EdP or TamDao EdP, off the top of my head, or even Crabtree & Evelyn's (sadly discontinued) Sandalwood - despite finding it rather "thin" by comparison. I will say this goes on quite dense and lasts a few hours, even in high humidity, which is satisfying, and for that I give Taylor's credit. (On a not unrelated sandal note: my body soap of choice which I bathe with daily, Autumn through Spring, is a simple, Santalum Album oil scented bar -- from Taiwan of all places -- which leaves my skin hydrated and smelling lush. It sells for a song and beats any bottled sandalwood iteration I've ever come across. Naturally the scent is not terribly long lasting after towelling off, but it adds a creamy richness to my daily toilette ritual which I genuinely savour.) But back to Taylor's. Would I choose this over other options? Probably not. On the other hand, for £28, it's a nice trip down a comforting memory lane to the monochrome security of baby-boom Macmillan Britain before the Swinging Sixties swept away the last vestiges of staid, leftover Edwardian gentility. Gran was duly unamused. ★★☆☆☆

I'm an old 59 niner and love old school barbershop fragrances, even if I don't wear them often. I bought recently Geo F. Trumper Sandelwood Cologne but don't like it at all! I do like Floris Santal, and love Floris 89, although I don't expect them to have much in common with Old Bond Street. Floris 89 actual reformulation is all but old school. And for sure not barbershop. I love Aqua di Parma Colonia and even more it's flankers. Chanel pour Monsieur. Goutal eau D'Hadrien, Armani Pour Homme, etc. etc. As for real Barbershop types of fragrances, I have Claus Porto Musgo Real Orange Amber, a splash, which wouldn't surprise me if it covers Old Bond Street terrain. As for those who enjoy splashing, Acqua di Parma Colonia Aftershave, would suite the same purpose. So I'm on the fence for Old Bond Street. Would it be worth to have? (By the way I have Worth pour homme too) an interesting addition to my collection? Or just redundant?

Wet-shave fans may be familiar with Taylor of Bond Street, a British men's grooming brand founded in 1854. Perhaps a favorite of their colognes is this Luxury Sandalwood Cologne; not necessarily luxury as the name would suggest, but nonetheless a reliable and delightful experience. It starts off bright, bracing, and aromatic, with a classical accord of rosemary, lavender, and geranium. However, we have lovely powdery sandalwood not long after, hugging the skin for a good amount of time, with almost incense-like undertones. It feels so very nostalgic to me, somehow reminding me of Cape Cod, antique shops, rainy days in New England, reclining and reading a good book, days when my face wasn't so full of scruff and so heavily mustached as it is today. I think back to a time where it didn't take too much for me to feel 'fancy' and maybe I wasn't so cynical. Rumor has it that the matching soap is quite lovely as well...

I have the Sandalwood and boy, it's not very appreciated among the women close to me. I splash it on occasion, and my girlfriend is not late to comment. She finds it too sharp, and not soapy enough. Very classic scent, grandparent and old school barbershop. When first applied it’s very sharp, close to mosquito repellent. Give it a few minutes and a softer, rounder scent forms. Creamy and classic gentleman.

To me this is a light classy take on Sandalwood. I like it in warmer weather compared to other deeper Sandalwood's i have. Even a bit casual. I honestly don't think wood here. It's just something my rich uncle would have wore. It smells like someone older with money, has a little alcohol and pipe smoke on the breath,....goes golfing. That kind of guy's scent.

I have the shampoo-body wash of this. It's absolutely wonderful, a warm, comfortable feel-good scent that just makes me happy. Old World, sure, but not outdated at all. After shower I'm always looking for a sandalwood parfum that would continue the scent, but they're not the same... Maybe I should just get this cologne!

This is a wonderful gentlemens scent. Doesn't last too long though. It's good for when you've just had a shave and are going out for an hour or so, or doing some chores.You'll smell good and feel refreshed.

Very classic old money scent, but doesn’t last very long. More of a feel good, skin oil, where you can keep sniffing and remind yourself you’re a distinguished sophisticated British gentleman.

very Old school scent . similar to jovan sex appeal . I think this scent is outdated . only people born in the 50s should wear that fragrance. Sample before you buy.

kind of boring and yet I've had more compliments on this than anything else...
