Lapidus Pour Homme Black Extreme

I find this to be a very underrated scent that should have become more popular. It can be bought for around €20 new here in Ireland for 100ml which is a good deal. Firstly, the bottle, while unusual looking and definitely looks like something from the 80s (some might say dated, some might say its unique/nostalgic), it is made from plastic on the cap, and black glass on the main part. It is not see through in anyway. The box is nice, with a cool hologram sticker, I assume to check the authenticity of the bottle you bought. The atomiser is very good, with great dispersion that travels a good distance. Only the trigger is a bit cheap feeling with not the most solid plastic trigger. So, the smell. The initial blast is quite harsh, but fruity. You can easily smell both the fruit and the pepper combo in the top notes. It dries down to a nice, smooth, unique smelling blend with the pepper being very prominent. It is quite a mature, strong, masculine scent, and ive seen some compare it to "1 Million". Seriously? There is very little comparison here. The only comparison is the projection/longevity class, and the initial fruity blast of the top notes. While its not the fruity, soft fragrance that most women tend to love in general, it definitely gets a few compliments in the few weeks ive had it. Which is better than most. On my skin, its not a "clubbing monster" in terms of projection, it definitely projects better than most, and has great longevity (10+ hours). I definitely recommend this if your looking for a good projecting fragrance that doesnt break the bank, that has a mature smell, but smells unique. I've not smelt anything like this before (but ive only started my fragrance journey a few months ago, but still). I guess this didn't sell well due to the price, which is a shame, but it's worthy addition to your collection. So, the questions are always the same: “Is it similar to the original?”, “It lasts like the original?”, “It projects like the original?”. The basic answer is: YES! This version could be the “modern” version of the traditional, ready for the market that claims for colognes with a touch of niche perfumery, without the 80’s aroma and with the ballad and one night stand focus. While the traditional is a bomb full of notes (like honey, pine, pineapple, incense, roots, etc.), this one has less notes and variations, which makes it easy to identify some nuances. It opens with some citric (which I really don’t recognize), black pepper and violet leaves (very noticeable), that splicing in the middle part with saffron, woods and the orange blossom. This orange blossom note gives a touch that reminds me of Fleur du Male (even though 20x subtle). To finish, tonka beans and labdanum, as strong as grey amber. The result: a strong and sweet cologne, with a hint of the traditional smell – you really swear that it is present – and with excellent projection and lasting power, which is a standard in Ted Lapidus colognes. In my opinion, it can be worn in many places and situations (cinema, dinner, bowling, work, etc.) since the weather is cold. I know there is no rules to wear a cologne, but I am a little bit severe with this flexible use of fresh scents at the winter (cold places) and/or gourmand and strong scents at the summer (hot places). I rather use the good sense! And, if I could give an opinion to its creator, I should say: “put a little bit of aoud. It is going to be extraordinary!”. Once again, Ted Lapidus makes a cologne that will divide opinions but, with no doubts, has excellent quality.

This is a gorgeous deep, dark and refined fragrance. Great for the night/cold weather. It's an "Encre Noir type of perfume - " to love or hate, nothing in between". I love it, my wife hates it. For me it's an absolute masterpiece. Upon initial spray, it comes on quite bold. It's a sharp scent of a dark pepperish violet, and a hint of orange. After the opening the manly dark scent remains but you note the orange note growing together with an exotic flower and woody notes. It becomes just a bit sweeter and smokier and a bit darker as well. Its longevity is easily 12+ hours. Don't over spray or it may become intrusive to the people around you due to its heavy dark/middle notes and heavy sillage. You get a very lovable dry down with a very strong tonka note backed up exotic flowers. So you get still a dominant dark smoky scent but always with a hint of a flowerish gourmand scent in the background. In terms of longevity it's not a beast but it is well above average. This EDT smells expensive and and in line with what you expect from a Lapidus/Bogart black extreme fragrance. It is indeed a very nice juice and one of a kind. It does not pretend to clone anything and I like it that way with its proper individuality. Just got a 100ml bottle based on reviews here. I saw the notes, and heard 'sweet' from reviewers, and was expecting something more like AZZARO SILVER BLACK/ONYX... so I was a little dissapointed upon first smell.. But that was my own pre-conceived fault. The initial spray seemed 'strange' to me (as in I wasn't expecting anything like it)... then after a while, i sniffed my wrist, and I liked it more (?), and upon a small re-application (not that it needs it because longevity is monstrous), it smelled absolutely PHENOMENAL. Maybe I haven't smelt as many scents as others, but to me this smells very original... even the bottle design looks like it came off the set of Prometheus, I really can't fault this fragrance. LAPIDUS PH BLACK EXTREME really surprised and impressed the hell out of me. Blind Buy Not disappointed... Modern perfume with retro vibes... citrus spicy In my opinion this stuff is manly n have a great performance with good prices ( for some people it's very cheap ) Longevity n sillage is good... I prefer spray on clothes and its last a day.. But if i spray on my skin i get some good manly top notes n pretty nice drydown... And i don't found harsh smell like some people wrote in review... This one reminds me of an easier to wear version of Bogart’s One Man Show Ruby Red Edition. The apple incense and tart have been removed, with the emphasis now being focused on tonka first and foremost, hovering over a spicy bed of violet leaves and florals. The “black” label here is deserving, though a moderate projector like Sport. Both scents are different enough to own both, and honestly I can’t see any reason why anyone would hate this unless they’re trying to chase down the latest mall release. As I always say...their loss is always my gain. I’ve become a fan of the Lapidus PH line over the course of the last few years, and I’m sure it will only continue to show.

It definitely smells "purple", there is something sweet, spicy and floral at the same time. Big blast of orange blossom and saffron in the opening, there is some synthetic nature but it calms down after a few minutes. Saffron is slightly fuzzy and effervescent, giving a cola vibe. Drydown is very good, creamy Tonka and crisp violet come forward. There is a slight touch of leather and funk in here, might be the warm labdanum... But it's definitely not as animal as the original. Even gives me slight vibes of Amen Pure Leather in the drydown. Very good fragrance, and definitely not generic.

This isn't so bad. It is a little different to the original, but I do detect some similarity at the start (a kind of slightly animalic aspect). As it settles on the skin I get an aromatic accord somewhat like sarsparilla. There is also an incensy feeling to both the original Lapidus pour homme (grey bottle) and this one. After 6 hours the fragrance is quite close to the skin and there is a definite muted sweetness. It is similar to One Man Show Gold Edition, though to what degree I am yet to ascertain with a side-by-side comparison.

this animal right here is pretty close to bogart one man show gold edition...winter only...and dont play around with that trigger...1 to max two half sprays will last on you all day...black animalic leather and lot of dry woody elements like gucci pour homme one or bentley for man absolute....it smells like a real man with beard and an axe going for logging.not for the faint of hearts ;) love or hate .....for most....i love it...waiting for cold weather to hit me...leather is my favorite note :)

Ooh this is good. I get largely orange blossom and the Lapidus labdanum accord but it's so good. There's a hint of something a little dirty and some delightful fizzy laundry musk. My first thought with this was that it would make a excellent scent for a gender fluid or queer wedding. Dark but friendly is the vibe. It's quite similar to the OG and some people are gunna truly hate this is a definitive unsafe blind buy. Eight hours longevity minimum. Decent but not toxic projection

Dark and funky. This is like standing in busy city in a narrow alley, behind your favourite club or bar, you know where they put the empty beer barrels and the trash. Its night, stray cats and suspicious looking tough guys roam this sinister part of the city. Yet you feel at home and confident. Nothing worries or intimidates you. This coiuld be the scent of Batman or Stallone in his "Cobra" movie. Unconventional, strong, positive and alluring.

update: hit 13 hours today with 4 sprays. It's rather distant, but if I shake my head I can still get wafts of the sweetness and that's about all, pretty much just tonka and labdanum maybe at this point. Girlfriend just smelled it for her first time today and it was at 13 hours. She said "you smell good". This surprised me. Maybe a little rubbed off on my shirt and that's why it's lasting this long.. who knows.. who cares.. beast.

4 sprays.. 2 under each ear on the neck... 9 hours later still pumping out a smooth creamy tonka dry down with hints of the honey-saffron orange blossom harmony still in there. My bottle was purchased in summer 2016 from ebay, it was like $18 and it's definitely fairly beastly, although not as beast as Silver Scent Intense which will go longer and louder off 2 sprays.. Both beast, just different levels of beast.

Its common to find black flankers that are not really dark. This one doesnt lie. It is black. It is extreme Some say its dark and some say it smell like piss Truth is smells like dark and piss. The smell of the bathroom at the vampire's club in blade movie. Cant get more gothic than that. Not even the niche gimmicky ones... Blood notes lol

This is PH, which is already a beast, with the volume turned up to 11. The two share 80% of the same DNA. You mainly notice the difference in the top and mid notes, where PHBE is sharper and spicier. At the dry down stage, PH and PHBE are almost identical twins. I really like it and its a worthy addition to my wardrobe.

This fine concotion has reinvented the first one in a original way,it is really powerful and it has still an classic vibe in it,i loved it at the first sniff!It has some sour proprieties that give a particular smell and an austere vibe.Great one!

This is like a niche version of Armani code, from the first spray, it's sweet and powdery from the Tonka and orange blossom, it has no citrus in it whatever, it's sweet all right but not extremely so. Also I don't detect any violet leaf in this whatsoever, it might have been blended together with the orange blossom. Anemalic notes - oh yeah they're here and you can smell them. It smells clearly like Civet compared to the original Lapidus pour homme where you get a general bathroom concoction. This smells to me a bit closer to Kouros then to the original Ted lapidus pour homme. This smells like, if you took Kouros, replaced the honey with Tonka Bean and orange blossom and sweetened it up, removed the 80s shaving foam smell from the heart of the fragrance.... ....Some would say that this is a bastardisation of Kouros.... to each his own, both have a place in my collection

Well... The perfume lives up to its name; It's a Lapidus, it's black and it's extreme (and with over-application it can be overwhelming). After the strong aperture - and it's decay -, it can easily exceed 12h. ... So it's a suitable fragrance for late autumn and winter (gently on the trigger). Here we have a rather unique oriental fougere, with something distinctive and different that captures your attention and keeps you smelling it. It's floral, powdery, spicy and sweet... And manly, definitely. It's one of those fragrances that can be considered an “olfactory experience”. I think it’s misplaced: This juice belongs more to the “niche” side of fragrances. If I have to define this scent in one word, that is: "Gothic". Without hesitation, this would be the perfect fragrance for a Pop Star Vampire. Not a blind-buy, for sure... But It has its charm - and legend -.

Just picked this up as a fall/winter cologne option in my arsenal. The longevity is awesome, wore it out couple of times and lasted almost throughout the day. The smell is more suited for the over 30 crowd. I haven't received any compliments on it so far. But the fact that I get whiffs of it throughout the day makes me appreciate the progression more. Opening note is very fruity and incense mixed. It grows into a more floral and powdery fragrance. I get reminded of Kuoros which I own in terms of staying power, but this frag does not have the dirty note and is very pleasant but manly. A very versatile scent that can be worn for any occasion. I even wore it to work with just 2 sprays on either shoulder. If you are heading for a party you can amp it up further with one more spray near the neck, chest area. Anymore and it will stiffle you and those near you.

Had extremely high hopes for this and I was sadly let down. I am a really big fan of the original Lapidus Pour homme and felt this would have been great to stand beside it's big brother in my collection. Well big brother kicked little brother out lol. This to me is almost like a mixture of one million and one man show gold edition. It really doesn't project well and the longevity is ok around the 4-6 hour mark a bit spotty at times. The top notes are very nice but they only last for a few minutes and from there the whole scent just falls apart. I tried to spray more to get better longevity and projection but what your left with is a really sickly sticky scent that almost cause nausea at times. I hate being so open an honest about a fragrance like this because it comes from a house that I respect and enjoy. Lapidus step up. You do not have a winner here.

Orange blossom and tonka bean pretty much sums this up. Very strong modern oriental, but quite unique. Extremely potent, very much in the Bogart/Lapidus "powerhouse" tradition. Spray here, and people two rooms down will go "Wow!"; it seriously did happen to me. Stays on clothes for days on end. So, use judiciously. If you belong to the population of perfumistas who maintain that affordable fragrances cannot be enjoyable, or subscribe to the belief that wearing non-conventional fragrances is the worst social-life mistake one can make, you want to stay clear of this, as well as other Bogart/Lapidus offerings. If, on the other hand, you are able to appreciate a fragrance for what it is, without much concern to price, presentation, social acceptance, and other ancillary concerns, give this one a chance. You may be pleasantly surprised.

My first Ted Lapidus scent. The first thing I thought when I sprayed it was, "Aha, Coca-Cola and incense"... I'm guessing it's maybe the violet leaf that imparts this weird smokiness, since there's no incense note listed? At any rate, I also noticed some mild citrus at the outset, which dissipated quickly. The drydown was a sweet floral; I got ZERO pepper out of this, and no saffron either-- shame, since saffron is one of my favorite notes. It lasted a good eight hours on me. The tonka was really dominant to me through the life of the scent. It's not at all unpleasant, a safe fragrance for office use and I'd be shocked if it was considered in any way sexy or seductive (or maybe I'm just getting old!). All in all, a successful blind buy, and I'm pretty picky about sweet-smelling frags.

Just bought this blind because I adore T.L. Pour Homme. I find that this one is a sort of blend between Ted Lapidus Pour Homme (naturally), Bogart's One Man Show Gold Edition and Silver Scent. The drydown is quite dry, dark and powdery but nice also and I do get a whiff of CityTower by Bogart here. There does seem to be a link with Bogart Fragrances with Black Extreme - this seems to have facets of several Lapidus scents and several Bogart scents blended together. Longevity and sillage are great as always with Ted Lapidus' fragrances. I suppose it IS like a darker version of the sublime Ted Lapidus pour Homme esppecially the drydown. This is a nice sweet powerful scent - but just wish it had more of it's own character and not be like several others.

I like this very much. It shares a lot of notes and overall Oriental Spicy vibe with Bentley for Men Black Edition, a very unique combination of dark florals (violet), spice, and a dense, sweet, resinous base. These fragrances rhyme but are quite different and if you like one of them, there's a good chance that you will like the other. The Bentley is fresher, better for hot days/nights, and the Lapidus for the cold days/nights. Enjoy!

Opens with a blast of intense and 'wet' violet leaves with a kick of spice. Gets stronger and sweeter as the orange blossom emerges, rounds out warmly as it gets woodier and ambery. It's perfectly temperate today to enjoy this, I think this is best in cool/cold weather. Projects strongly off my skin.

Launched in 2012, but smells like a hardened character from an 80s action movie. Think Marion 'Cobra' Cobretti(1986) or Snake Plissken(1981). For the younger generation, think Billy Butcher from the series The Boys. All of the characters mentioned above wore black. Were they all extreme? Hell yeah!

To add. This is nice. It's potent, sweet, fruity, smoky (a bit) and spicy with a somewhat powdery drydown. A sort of blend of TL homme, OMS Gold, and CityTower but not as good as any of them. The name "Black Extreme" suits this one. Still a good one though - just a little............strange.

Nice, but classical Lapidus is much, much better (with his power and better projection). I expected something a little more "darker". So, I'm a little disappointed...

Ted Lapidus Black Extreme is modern version of Ted Lapidus Pour Homme with perfect longevity and excellent sillage.Very masculine,classy,sharp .Highly recommended.

Ends up comfortably warm and mildly sweet, a slightly rough amber-spice with just a hint of leather and the expected rankness. But you got to endure a whole lot of blaring sweetness first. Like, for almost an hour and it's not pleasant unless you're driving with the windows down. Is it worth it? For the price you can safely decide for yourself.

There is nothing in the official Ted Lapidus boutique about this, not even a review in the internet. i suppose because is new....it is only $23.95 in the internet and i bought it....i will say some comments as soon as i receive the shipment....the original was my signature back in 1990-1992...will see this one!

this has nothing to do with the original. It is more generic and not like the original, i was disappointed. Others may like it but is not for me. Orange blossom, citruses and a bit old fashion but in a modern way. Not for me and nothing special but for the price, is a very good investment.

There's an ingredient of a "burnt material" smell into this, Not recommended.

Picture this: You are a young dude, you are about to try a tester at the local pharmacy, you are filled with optimism and hope, the name of this fragrance seems cool, so does the notes. You pick it up. Big mistake. You spray it the top of your right hand. Even bigger mistake. What I was faced with was an offensive olfactory experience which I imagine how a cockroach would feel upon being enveloped in a small, but non-lethal spray of Raid. It is highly offensive and definitely not suitable for people. I was filled with despair. The smell is a combination of bug spray, a urinal cake and powder. One thing that I can say is that the performance is great. After various aggressive scrubbing sessions with alcohol, soap and every other household chemical in the nearby proximity, the scent remained for at least four hours. My friend also physically recoiled upon smelling it. Final Verdict: 0/10

That stuff with Ted Lapidus pour homme are the stars of outlet stores counters in France, so decided to spritz some on my wrist today and... I do get the coca cola vibe, what is surprising it's that there is no civet listed as a note even though I detect something very pissy animalic, but overall I honestly think that fragrance should be worn if you visit whorehouses or if you're a pimp yourself. It is kinky, dirty, pussy juice fishy.

When i first applied this i was thinking this is the closest thing i have ever been to a toilet cleaner witch i did not like, not recommended at all. It smells so BAD.

The perfume is totally different from what I expected. Judging by the bottle, one would assume something dark, ambery, woody, dense, and smoky. None of that is what we find here. It opens with a punch of violet and black pepper, mixed with white florals at its heart and saffron, which brings a pungent smell, which, mixed with violet and white floral, produces an extremely chemical and synthetic accord reminiscent of those tablets used in men's restroom urinals. Upon drying down, tonka bean and labdanum try to contain this floral hit, but without much success, and the perfume dries down with this floral combo somewhat "bathroom-like" tied with a very animalic musk (those familiar with Kouros will notice similarities). It's quite potent, unfortunately, because the smell is extremely synthetic, sharp, and animalic, embodying everything I dislike about old-school perfumery (which I generally enjoy, as I greatly admire fragrances like Polo, Quorum, among others). I know perceptions are personal, but knowing this perfume, I can't help but think that perhaps people are too swayed by the bottle, as the scent here has nothing to do with the packaging. It's a rather open fragrance, I don't see it as "dark," "gothic," or "shadowy," for me, it's a smell that reminds me of a public men's restroom, even reminding me a bit of the smell of urine. I strongly recommend trying it before buying, it won't please everyone, I would even say it will please very few. From the brand, Black Soul follows a more interesting proposal and may appeal more to those seeking a perfume with the characteristics I mentioned above.

If you are a big fan of oriental perfumes, this is for you. TL Black Extreme is very bold and daring creation with a twist of modernism. I do see lots of people saying that TL Original is a way better than TL Black Extreme, but I think it really depends on their personal taste in terms of fragrances. For me, I prefer TL Black Extreme since TL Original was a sneezing inducer for me when I was a child. In my opinion, TL Black Extreme is way more floral than TL Original, while TL original tends to have a very strong tobacco/incense note, which make it to be very 'smoky'. Orange blossom is the key player of TL Black Extreme, but it has been spiced up with pepper and other types of spices (I couldn't really detect what they are, but the presence is there). It truly has that oriental vibe with spices added, but not a typical old school-oriental type. Softened than the original with a strong splash of florals, but still maintain as a very powerful male-oriented scent (Flowers are not meant for guys? who said so?). Sillage and longevity wise, this is one of those 'projection monsters'. It is really long lasting and sillage is MASSIVE. My dad is using it and every morning, I wake up once I walk in to the bathroom (Yeap, my dad sprays perfume in the bathroom after he takes a morning shower!). The scent lasts almost whole day in the bathroom's atmosphere. So, be aware if you are a type of person who prefer a light-weight scent. For those heavy-oriental-loaded lovers, bring it on! :)

Honestly, this is a weird one to describe. I really like it, but it's weird. I thought this was gonna smell like fahrenheit due to the violet, I guess I'm skeptical with violet. Idk. But if you guys are comparing this to Lapidus Pour Homme the original, they due share a similar backbone, but most people would not pick up on that. They are two completely different scents. This one being much younger feeling, or at least more modern. It has a fruity feel but is also kind of smoky, dark smoky. Not nearly as earthy as the original. Still a little risky for your average guy. It's pretty powerful in terms of projection. As for the smell, I get a very oddly pleasant artificial tonka bean, a lot of florals, I guess it's the orange blossom, and the violet makes it feel almost starchy. But I don't have much experience with violet so, IDK. Longevity: 6, nothing like the original Sillage: 5, average Scent: 6 Synthetic and a hit or miss, try before buying but I love it even though it's not like lapidus ph.

Give it 10 minutes or so to calm down (otherwise I suggest not buying it!). This one has multiple facets that come and go: milky/floral, original Lapidus PH/Kouros, woody/incense (typical modern "dark" element), etc., and eventually it is thick/sweet, with the earlier elements slightly detectable. No, ingredient quality may not be what you want, especially if you are used to spending many times more than I did for 100 ml of this scent (about $12), but at these low prices, you can't say you aren't getting what you paid for. With one spray to the chest, strength is at least good on the drydown, and of course quite a bit stronger for the first hour or so.

I've had this for a few years and have given it a lot of chances. I like violet and black pepper and figured a combo would be a winner but all I get is tonka and the white florals. It's also far too sweet for my liking (though the sweetness does dry down eventually). I also don't get how it's meant to be dark, compared to my other "black" perfumes, like Ungaro III, Dali Pour Homme or even Prada Luna Rossa Black, there's nothing really dark about this to me. I can see mysterious though. I know it's been long discontinued, but Van Cleef and Arpels Pour Homme is also a cool dark perfume. I just can't get over the Tonka in this, it dominates it.

This is a true brut, hard and thick, it is a synthetic bouillon that tastes like hundreds of smells all trying to claim the prize of being the first one to fertilize my nose. It is fast and is lasting so long that me and my nose become numb after 15-20 minutes, ignorant to the pain the rest of the 10+hours continue to inflict. It is sticky sweet, maybe it's an oriental, though could be an aromatic, certainly is not an aquatic, definitely very barbaric. Its language is mostly interjectional, its voice loud, its tone rude. There are glimpses of a what could have been a very fine being, but my hands are too shaky to write them down. **(***)

Hey, "the original" is dead and burried, let it rest in peace and don't mourn it so much. I have written on it's page in my review: what you can buy right now in the grey bottle is a weird concoction which dies down completely in maximum two hours - the last hour sitting flat on the skin. I've bought it only because I've read here heaps of glorious reviews, all of them extatic, not a single one stating that the actual reformulation is utterly useless. Let us embrace the present, and when remembering the past, let us make it clear that it's the past we are talking about, collector's items, not to be bought in retail stores. Carpe diem!
