Silk Way

I am personally really enjoying this fragrance! Silk Way has nothing to do with floral fruity...it's an all around oriental, from beginning to end. I wonder if the notes are correct as well, because I am not getting any fruits. It reminds me of sweet fresh coffee with hazelnut creamer and sprinkled with cinnamon....just wonderful! This is not a heavy fragrance,it doesn't have that oppressive thick quality. Silk Way is a very smooth composition, it has that crystal clear, lucid scent of more expensive fragrances, no muddled notes here. The sillage is great, it projects really well, and i can continuously enjoy it for a few hours. Some people say it's boring. I'm not sure what boring means in others' eyes, but to me boring is something flat, linear, with weak sillage and longevity. And Silk Way possesses none of these traits,not to my nose at least. Yes, it's a casual fragrance, but it does have a unique personality, and I have nothing to compare it to from my big collection at the moment. It feels a little bit like Trussardi Inside, but it's a distinctively different scent. The simple clear bottle looks very elegant too. Lovely blind buy, definitely a keeper for me!

Silk Way was suggested to me in my search for dark vanillic scents. Immediately, it intrigued me: "Silk Way was born of the raw materials that once traveled the legendary road from East to West." What an incredible vision for a fragrance, and what an intriguing point in history to draw inspiration from! And Silk Way definitely delivers. It's got a cool & breezy silkiness, just as the name implies. The spiciness is mouth-watering and exotic. It's smooth, sensual, and has an almost "wet" quality, which makes me think of rain and thunderstorms. My only regret in blind-buying Silk Way is not having found it sooner! As for its resemblance to Barbara Bui's Le Parfum, I'll reiterate my thoughts on their similarities from my BB review: After finally trying them side-by-side, the differences are clear. Actually, I think the color of each fragrance explains the difference quite well: Barbara Bui is a sensual warm amber & woody blend with a powdery quality; Silk Way seems 'cooler' - a light incensey musk & damp, dewy cedar. Both are worth trying, especially for the incredible price. Though my preference definitely lies with sleek & mysterious Silk Way.

I had this on my wishlist for years based on the reviews. Now I have decided to treat myself. A blind buy. Strange how you can have an idea of a scent, based on the notes and descriptions, but still have no clue. It is definitely a scent that is different from other orientals I know and have. Silk Way is not sultry, sweet or seductive at all. It is cosy and friendly. Which was what I was looking for. I agree with others describing the peppery opening, it is cool, medicinal almost. But in a few minutes it develops into a warm and dry concoction. Sniffing my wrist... wait a minute, I know this! I smell ... old-fashioned bandaids! I think it is the cinnamon incense combo. Only after about three hours the vanilla and amber manifest themselves, and the scent becomes slightly sweeter. Yes, lovely. Silk Way would probably also be great for layering. No regrets here.

This is my second TL frag and yet another blind buy that I am SO GLAD I made! This fragrance is just intoxicating. It opened softly with this woody, cedar mist that was very masculine at first. I was really unsure of how I felt about it at that point. But within five minutes or so it blossomed into a warm vanilla haze, layered with the cedar and musk. It's been on me now for about an hour and the cinnamon is just starting to show up, in a very subtle, soft way. The incense and amber make just sensual enough to keep it interesting. I want to spray this on all my lingerie, my bedsheets...it is the most feminine fragrance I've ever used and I'm by no means uber-girly. But this frag makes me feel pretty, sexy and embraceable. Silk Way is a truly beautiful fragrance. Soft cedar blended with cinnamon and incense makes me think of exotic spiced teas. Soft peach and apple juices expertly blended with gentle flowers give Silk Way a completely natural sweetness, not sugary or candy-like. The deep bourbon vanilla, sweet amber and soft white musk anchor the scent,creating a smooth, silky base. Silk Way smells expensive, classy, unique, and feminine. Silage is moderate to soft, and longevity is a minimum of 8 hours on my skin. I feel like I want to drown in this gorgeous mixture, drink it, bathe in it, absorb it, delighted to let it envelope me completely. I will definitely buy Silk Way again and again. I can't imagine ever being without it. Just gorgeous !

On me it is very intense and strong. Fantastic quality!!!! Just a small amount of apple hidden in the background, otherwise it is strong, rounded spices, mostly incense.At the first hours there is no trace of vanilla. Only the drydown contains some amount of it with a sligthly sweet breath. On my skin it is not apple pie, or any kind of treats. It is a close relative of Donna Karan's Black Cashmere. I am delighted!!!!! I thought it was ligther, milder, but it is a serious beauty. Outstanding!!!! Like dark lavendery, grey coloured silk, pearls, smoke. Church and decadence. Strenght and melancholy.

This is a strange one. It truly is silk in that it is so gentle and soft. My nephew said I smelled like cupcakes! I my husband woke me up from a nap and said "mmmm you smell good, your perfume is still on". Weird thing is...I can NOT smell this on me! What I do get is warm and inviting directly after I apply but in 5 mins it's gone (to me) but not to everyone else. This is an office/church perfume but a lovely one.....I think I am just used to powerhouse perfumes....but I have to say this is a lovely, sweet departure. ☺ P.S. This is labeled as a floral fruity...I smell mainly woods and vanilla.

I remember owning it back in 2007, but I found it too strong and overwhelming at that time. This turned into a giveaway from my collection together with Ricci Ricci, Angel, Insolence. Now more than a decade ahead I learned to cherish it. To me it smells like incense with Christmas notes and booze. It feels sophisticated in my skin. I am unable to perceive any of the top notes mentioned here - my nose jumps directly to incense, amber, peonies, jasmine and cinnamon. It is a love story I wasn't ready to live back in my youth that took me by surprise in my maturity.

Lapidus is a master. I just wish this lasted longer and was stronger. This is a close skin scent that you run your nose in.very light and soft but lovely and unique; lots of pepper, incense, cinnamon, peony, white musk, cedar and a hint of vintage amber but all faint and watery. And, though not listed, this definitely has lots of pepper in the top! I sneezed after application about three times. Pepper in frags always does that to me though I love it.

Dry, smoky, very subtle and smooth incense oriental. Dried fruits but no sweetness, a bit medicinal. Manages to have so much depth without being cloying or clearing out a room, which is so hard to find in a woody oriental fragrance. Absolutely breathtaking. Smells niche. Smells 3x above its price bracket. Very, very impressive considering how inexpensive it is.

Just got Barbara Bui and they are indentical! I'm glad I only 1 oz bottle.

Purchased this based on reviews. Not always a great idea. It is nice but at first it reminded me of the old Coty Wild Musk I wore in grade school in the 70's. It opens a little masculine with the cedar but that that quickly fades. It warms up to a sweet vanilla-y powder, nice and creamy, but that quickly fades. Then it's powder, powder, powder, but that quickly fades. IOW, it doesn't last long. I do like it though. I can see it as an evening out scent. It might last long enough for that. Oh, and it's very strong. I will use it but only sparingly. Edited to add: The problem with using it sparingly is that it is so short-lived. I found that when I re-apply it after lunch it goes sour on me. Not sure what that's all about. I am using it and enjoying it in the mornings, but it is gone long before lunch. I may have to save this one for evening only. ETA 8-20-10: Okay, I really do love this scent. I have found that there are times of the month that my skin chemistry goes wacko, and nothing smells good on me. I tested several things with my daughter last weekend, and all of them took on that sour "perfume-gone-bad" smell. Don't listen to me previous review. Silk Way is a really fabulous scent. One of my favorite blind buys!

i just bought this one few days ago, when i first put it on it smells of aniseed balls (sweets) then it changed in to a masculine smell reminded me of my boyfriends after shave for a little bit then when it settled down it smelt more girly and cute but that quickly fades and it just smells like scented baby powder. its very soft and faint, the fabric conditioner on my jumper had a stronger smell than the perfume i wish it was a bit more noticeable i like people to get a waft of my new perfume as i walk past and think''hmmm she smells nice'' but with this one i think only me or anyone i hug or pull close can smell it. i am not sure if i would buy it again as its not very strong i like my clothes and the air around me to smell of my scent.i would love i if it was not so weak

This is a subtle and elegant and welcoming scent. It's dry, yet a little sweet and creamy, like a warm cinnamon rice pudding (or horchata, yum). I'm reminded of a milkier, less floral, less vanilla version of Dior Addict, like if she had an older and more responsible aunt that stayed in to take care of her kid on a cold winter's night instead of seducing men at expensive bars. Silk Way is a total gem. The apple note in here is surprisingly strong and adds something sweet and bright and uplifting to an otherwise beige-coloured scent. And I mean beige is a good way - think rice, cereal, bread, and other starchy fare. The projection and longevity on me is not that bad. It lasts around 3-4h with low/moderate projection. A perfect indoor scent for the fall.

This is much more airy than I expected. It's creamy, soft and gentle. In my mind I see the milky color and consistency of cold, unfiltered sake when I smell it. It has sort of a rice pudding thing going on, but not a dense custard type rice pudding made with butter and cream. This is a light, fluffy rice pudding made with jasmine rice and coconut water, not even coconut milk, the light coconut water. It has some cinnamon lightly dusted on the top and maybe even a hint of far away pipe tobacco smoke drifting in an open window. The people who say this is a strong scent must usually wear extremely light fragrances because this is a very subtle oriental.

Sweet vanilla, peach and sparkly citrus notes for the first minutes, woody base is peeking out almost immediately. After five minutes I can detect a weird dill note, but at that time the incense note started to be apparent even ever so slightly, so all together it's blended into something oriental and spicy, making the name - Silk Way - very appropriate. Alas, I find strong resemblance to Crystal Noir at this stage, that's when I stopped liking Silk Way. But a good news for numerous lovers of Crystal Noir - roughly the same thing for fewer buck. UPD: no dill when it's cold outside. Liking it all the way! Smokey lovely vanilla, not sweet.

After perusing the notes, which look devine, I purchased this one on a whim. It's probably one of the best perfume choices I've made. Simply stunning. This is not a fruity floral...it's a vanilla/slightly spicy oriental all the way. The peach and cedar dominate the top with a dash of cinnamon warmth. This quickly melds into the delightful vanilla and incense base which is creamy, smokey and sultry. There is nothing light or casual about this one. It is deep and dark, made for the night. Any brave and confident woman who loves incense scents should love it, no matter her age.

After hearing raves about this on the Makeupalley.com fragrance board I decided to give it a try since on ebay Silk Way is dirt cheap. Wow...I was very surprised by the sillage and longevity of this scent for the discount price. I got whiffs all day of vanilla/incensey goodness. After this is on several hours the incense really stands out. This reminds me of Adam Levine EDP, which I also love, but Silk Way doesn't sit as close to the skin which makes it better in my book but some may feel differently. I highly recommend this one for the incense lovers!

This would be a fantastic perfume IF I did not have to touch my nose to my skin to smell it AND if it lasted longer than 20 minutes. The smell itself is wonderful - Amber/vanilla/Cedar/Cinnamon delightfu - POOF EDIT: This seems to perform better in the SPRING. 62 degrees - it last longer and projects .002 molecules more. I really do love this fragrance - I just wish it was beast mode or any mode besides silent. My neck hurts from bending to sniff my wrists while I type at work - on that note, great for work environment.

Surprising that no-one has mentioned that Barbara Bui Le Parfum and Silk Way might be twin sisters!? As the top notes are gone in a couple of seconds, the incense-y beauty appears and at least on my skin it is 1:1 with BB. However, if many people find similarities between BB and SR "Women not for men", there are no big similarities between SR and Silk Way - SR is much more peppery and light-hearted. The longevity is quite decent. Rich, creamy, smokey - a wonderful comfort scent for long, chilly autumn evenings;)
