Deja Vu

It took me a minute to figure out what this reminded me of, but then it all clicked: Japanese ramune soda! Which makes sense since ramune has a kind of citrus-bubble gum flavor. This feels cool, almost frosty, and very fizzy (maybe even more like the fizzy ramune soda candy than the soda itself) with very fine bubbles. Sometimes I get a hint of something like wet tulips, with slightly waxy petals and fresh green leaves and stems. Sometimes I get a little watermelon around the edges. I don’t think I ever would’ve guessed that there’s a leather note here, but it might be contributing to the sort of artificial bubble gum scent—the plastic of the soda bottle’s flip top lid, the waxy but also powdery wrapper of a piece of Bazooka gum, the almost burnt-rubber scent of a watermelon Jolly Rancher. It’s all very nostalgic for me (deja vu, indeed) and always so cool and fizzy. I got this as a surprise freebie in another sample order, and looking at the notes, I don’t think it’s one I would’ve tried on my own (leather, bubble gum, and iris?😬). But I am really liking it! It’s not like anything else I have right now—this distinctly artificial candy sweetness that’s sweet but not not too sweet and cold enough to feel restrained or maybe refined. It’s weird and familiar at the same time.

A total mind-trick in a bottle. The name is crazy clever because it hits you with an instant, "I know this smells familiar" feeling—like a nostalgic 90s mix of sweet raspberry bubblegum and a fresh pink vinyl jacket. It carries that same addictive, plastic-synthetic candy edge as Born Screaming, grounded by a soft iris-musk dry down. Derrick thinks it smells "chemically," but to me, it’s an amazingly fun, head-turning piece of wearable olfactory art.

Sorry for my poor english, but I have to defend Déjà vu. It is a pleasant, fun and light perfume. I definitely smell bubble gum, but also jasmine and it works together well. It smells like nothing else and it is what I like in perfume. To sum up it is a joyfull, mischievous perfume !

There is some bubble gum in the beginning, but as this scent dries down, it gives off a "dryer sheets" smell. I'm not complaining too much, though, because I think it smells nice! The iris, leather, and musk just make Deja Vu a more clean-smelling fragrance than a sweet one. It reminds me a bit of Magnetic Candy from Finery (which is a dupe of Sundazed from Byredo, but I haven't smelled the original). It's clean with a hint of fun, and I could see any age or gender wearing it!

I really like the opening which is very much a blast of bubblegum and leather. I would note that smelling too close to the skin is actually highly unpleasant, very rubbery, but whiffs of the fragrance are surprisingly lovely and unique. As it dries down that rubberiness mellows and it becomes predominantly a powdery musk. To me this smells like wearing a beat up leather jacket over a chiffon dress.

As the name suggests this definitely reminded me of something in particular... It reminds me of those massive clean malls you'd go to on holidays that have that peculiar sweet smell lingering in the air, or the women's section of a luxury leather bag shop Overall the scent is quite pleasant but not something I would wear personally

I was so curious about this. I mean.. Bubblegum and leather? And you know what? It is strangely enticing! Opens up exactly like bubblegum and candy - something that I remember having when I was a kid and can't remember the name - and dries down to a sweet leather iris. Can be a bit juvenile, maybe but I'm not mad at it at all!

Smells like the boys your mom warned you about. Sweet, tangy bubble gum wand cold leather. Feels like breaking personal rules in the back of his car. Cheeky, playful but not childish in my opinion. This is the most realistic bubble gum fragrance I’ve smelled with Bubblegum Factory by Theodoros Kalotinis

Just received this today. Upon first spray it’s definitely bubblegum. I immediately loved it. However, in the dry down the bubblegum started to fade and it became only leather, musk and Iris. Something in it is kinda chemically along with the powdery aspect from the Iris. On the website, one of the notes is listed as imitation leather instead of what it says on here (white leather.) I feel like the chemically smell I’m getting is the “imitation” leather. Not sure how I feel about this so far. It’s DEFINITELY unique. I’ll have to give a full wear and report back. updated: just purely imitation leather and some iris. no bubblegum in the dry down whatsoever. Not for me.

Definitely bubblegummy. I don't really get leather, just that synthetic cherry bubblegum scent with a musky base that is to my nose, very similar to BDK's 312 St Honore. It's nice though not FB worthy for me, plus I already have BDK's 312 that is so similar in the drydown to my nose. I don't understand the hate on this one...

Interessante e curioso, ma non piacevole almeno sulla mia pelle. L'iris polveroso lo trovo sovrastato da un sentore di caramella gommosa e plastica, la pelle è asettica e per nulla animalica. Sulla mia pelle sa di cavi di plastica bruciati.

Deja Vu isn't very bubblegummy. It smells like iris bubble bath and leather. Soapy and powdery, but no fruity bubblegum scent. No sweetness either. I think it's a clean fragrance, so if you like those types, give this a try.

As it sounds from the notes this is a shampoo like bubblegum floral. Too lightweight and girlie for my personal tastes. I think this would suit a young ingenue in her late teens or early twenties.

haha thanks to these reviews I learned that one person's "bubble gum and leather" is another person's "tire factory". The "tire factory" person being me. This literally smells like a mechanic shop - a mix of screechy leather and sweet synthetic (like one of those super sweet car air fresheners). Definitely don't blind buy this, part of me wants to say don't even buy it with 20/20 vision :D but to each their own I guess. My decant will be used as car freshener.

Big disappointment! Luckily, I didn't blind bought it, just got a sample. It smells to me like Chinese faux leather... Plasticky, rubbery, slightly sweet fake leather. Do you know what I mean? Please, don't buy this perfume without testing it first! Edit: in the deep dry-down it changes into a nice, powdery scent. However, I had to wait 5 hours for that pleasant experience...

Massive massive disappointment In this one! It’s not giving me bubble gum vibes at all, very powdery, mature smell. I rushed to buy it as i love the house but this is a complete miss for me. Send me a text here if you wanna buy it off me

Nightmarish perfume for me, candy + burnt plastic, I actually struggled to wash it from arm it was too pungent for me I’m just not the target for it, but I recognised the originality

I was expecting this to smell like a tuberose kind of bubble gum. But this gives me something else. I only tried on paper and I am just giving my subjective opinion. The opening it does give something candy/bubblegum kinds of chemically sweetness. However to my nose it quickly develops into a scent that reminds me of walking into a shopping mall bathroom that was just cleaned (not bleach but maybe the soap). Some scent that doesn't smell terrible necessarily but gives a very cheap artificial chemically feel to it. As it goes towards dry down that goes away a bit and finally gets a little bit better. Maybe on skin it will be much better! And maybe my nose is just broken :P But just from what I smell from paper, I am just not interested in spraying it on myself. I love the brand, especially Je ne sais quoi, which is created by the same perfumer. But this just doesn’t work for me.

The topnotes smells like old violet candies, no sweet bubblegum here! The rest is just weird and chemical, a yucky rubbery smell and cheap hippie incense vibes. Had to scrub it off!

All I can smell here is a nuclear dose of super-amber enhancer. Got a factory sample, tried several times.

This is a powdered leather bomb. No bubble gum!

I am pleasantly surprised how much I like this scent. I usually am very cautious when it comes to iris and leather in fragrances because iris is sometimes too cold and aloof on me and leather tends to smell like a gasoline. Upon first spray I feel slight hints of Guerlain's Insolence but it is not as harsh as Guerlain creation (at least on me). I also definitely detect bubblegum and some light rubbery aspect which I love recently. After 15 minutes it settles down and mellows into a beautiful, musky, bubblegummy, laundry like, powdery scent. For me it is amazing and it would be perfect for spring and summer. Of course for colder and gloomier days as well, just to lift my mood. I recommend you test it first because this slight rubber undertone might not be for you but overall for me it is a great creation

What a perfectly named perfume. Something in Deja Vu tickles the part of my brain that remembers childhood outings with a parent. Being given bubblegum and sat on the floor of the hair dresser or the auto mechanic while grown up stuff was getting done. I smell the bubble gum I’m chewing, with watermelon and berry tones, and also the faint huff of chemicals in the air. But all is sheer and delicate and floaty, it’s not intrusive in any way. There’s also the gentle dry rasp of soap. As the perfume ages on skin, the chemicals and soap start to blot out most of the fruity nuances and what Deja Vu becomes is a very white feeling, light but musky soap - completely bland but pleasant. It lasts about 7 hours on skin and wears close to the body after the first hour or so.

I got a sample of this otherwise i dont think i would even try it in a store. None of the notes that are listed is my preferance however surprisingly i kinda like it. Very playful, very bubblegummy type of scent with a hint of cherry (however its not listed) I dont get any leather or jasmine but i do get a rubber note which reminds me of their other perfume Oh lá lá. The bubblegum note kind of settle after a while and become a pleasant not too strong scent on the skin.

Teo Cabanel Discovery Kit 8/14 Deja Vu | True, pink Dubble Bubble bubblegum made powdery and a little plastic-y with the addition of iris and "white leather". I feel it's synthetic by nature with the accords that they're trying to communicate. So while it delivered on that front, it's a bit unappealing. My boyfriend had to roll the windows down in the car and chided me for wearing something so chemically.

DUBBLEBUBBLE bubblegum. White tub of thick pink waxy yummy gum smelling soap that mechanics use in the 90’s or before, that was deleted off the face of the earth thanks to the Mandela effect. Brand new squeaky super clean McDonald’s on opening day before any food is cooked and before any customers arrive. Fun, nostalgic and cute.

I liked this surprisingly a lot! To me, it smells like an almost smoky (leathery) bubblegum. It's fun and weird and I loved trying it in my sample set. I wouldn't consider purchasing a larger size, but it's a fun experience. Almost like Barbie after a long adventure, taking a smoke break at the biker bar on the side of the road.

Personally, I don’t really get the bubblegum note as the main thing. It’s there, but it doesn’t take over. I love the scent because it reminds me of my childhood—like that floor-cleaning liquid we used at home. It’s a really nice, homey smell, though I don’t think I’d wear it myself. Still, I’ve grown kinda fond of it.

Usually love TC but I'm gonna pass; this starts off as foaming soap in a public bathroom and then dries down to what Limited Too/Justice smelled like in 2005. Wasn't too bad on the card but an instant scrubber on the skin. Intriguing concept that just doesn't get along with my body chemistry :(
