Peau Salée

The ratings become ever more comical on here, I fully believe half of these reviews are written by people who have never smelled the perfumes. Peau Salée is a beast. Salty, hungry, carnally floral, an assignation in a lifeboat while the cruise liner docks beside a coconut vendor. It has that alluring greasiness of frangipani with the freshness of a cool stone in the shade. When I wear this my husband gets ideas. They're good ideas. If you're looking to reignite a filthy flame, perhaps this fragrance can assist you. Yes it bears a resemblance to Alien Goddess and Vanilla Vibes, but it's weirder and deeper and far more interesting. Obviously if you don't like salty, coconutty, white floral fragrances you won't like this, so sample before you commit. And then commit victimless adult crimes (of passion, although not in a dinghy, I assure you it is an uncomfortable venue for dark deeds).

This is what I hoped Sydney Rock Pool would be. It’s perfect and thank God no harsh ambrox-whatever murderwood metallic scent.

Perfect "salty skin after beach day" scent. Longevity was surprisingly well for this type of fragrance.

Jumped at the chance to buy a sample of Peau Salee - I have always been so intrigued by this house, ever since seeing all the adverts for Lace Garden, but this is the first scent I've tried. I thought how could this be a different beach perfume? But it really is. The mineral notes are strongly present, but although the image used is of some kind of metal, don't worry, this isn't metallic smelling. It really does just smell like all the minerals at the sea - the salt, the sand, the rocks, the gritty minerals on your skin after bathing. It's also sweet, and the florals and coconut water are present from the beginning, getting stronger as it wears. From a distance, at first it kind of smells like Live Colorfully, but more lived in and rough around the edges. In the drydown, it reminds me of one of the summertime Aliens, with frangipani and narcotic jasmine performing their mystical alluring duet. For me personally, I prefer a more straightforward sweet floral beach perfume, but I appreciate this for what it brings to the table - and it really does conjure up being at the beach quite literally - I can feel myself sitting in the sand, rubbing broken shells and soft sand between my toes.

This really does smell like salty skin. Sweet and floral salty skin, but salty skin nonetheless. I have not had the chance to wear this to the pool or the beach in summer yet, because I think that is the best setting for it. I would not recommend wearing this too work out tho. I thought it would be a good combination as a workout fragrance, but I found it quite off-putting during and after my spin class.

Vanilla ice cream, ocean water, dipping your toes in the warm and soft velvety sand, playing badminton on the beach, touching algae with your legs as you swim (ew). This is what this scent evocates for me ! It smells like good times and happy memories, like horrible sunburns and cheap sunscreen. Worth a try !

It is really summer/holidays in a bottle. Unisex, you need to love salt for sure. Salt, mineral, coconut water and flowers. In fact, it is similar to "vanilla vibes" by Juliette has a gun. Nice for hot days but I prefer citrus perfumes in general. 6/10

Eau de soleil blanc with salty notes. After 3 hours the scent sits close to the skin, for an eau de parfum kinda deceiving Scent 5/5 Sillage 2/5 Longevity 2/5

Very gentle, salty scent - smells so delicate on the skin, the mineral notes dont smell chemical or metalic. Very beautiful <3

Very salty and "sunscreeny", a good scent for the summer!

What a weird scent. It smells like a flower next to a wet stone, or maybe a male shower room by the pool. Its salty, grimy but sometimes a little bit of floral pops through. I would not reccomend this for use for anyone. This is more of a scent you keep on the shelf because nothing else smells like it.

Smells like salty sand and skin at the beach, with a very slight hint of sunscreen (probably from the coconut and frangipani). It's a bit softer than Beach Walk or Soleil Blanc, but it's still not that original of a scent.

Super salty. Kind of nauseating. This was a scrubber for me, but ironically it's eternal, I couldn't get rid of it for the whole day. I kept getting wafts of it endlessly, but I don't think people around me did. Or perhaps they didn't think that this scent was actually a perfume. After testing the whole discovery kit, I feel that the brand is going in a wrong direction, with this perfume being the best example of this trend.

This is now called Sur la Plage. I love this. To me, this reminds me of both Arizona Bloom bij Floral Street and Le Labo another 13, but more salty and mineral. I smelled this in store en fell in love, but looking at just the notes I would have never been interested. I would have assumed it was not my cup of tea with the mineral notes, salt and frangipani, which are usually notes that make me lose interest. This has a very nice scent bubble, I smell it on myself quite well. Longevity is good, it is very noticable for at least around four hours. I personally love it. Very nice summery scent, a little bit more surprising than just another freshie. Not an all year round type of fragrance, but lovely for summer.

Teo Cabanel Discovery Kit 1/14 Peau Salee | I was excited for this scent since it promised a ~summer vibe~ and was a new addition to the 14-pc sampler set (which is an amazing value if we're being honest). But if we're being real, she's just not the one. The floral opening is sweet and nice, but I soon get a hit of (what I assume) is the dry mineralic base note and it stays stubbornly stays put. It's very noticeable and reminds me of someone who's been working outside in the sun all day or the fur of a pet who's been sunbathing. I really like the idea of "Salty Skin/ Peau Salee" in theory, but this one is a no-go for me.

I love this genre, so I love this! It’s salty beachy summer goodness! I find it doesn’t smell anything like coconut fizz or cocobello (I don’t know the others listed so I can’t speak to that). To me it smells most similar to Calvin Klein reveal, but with added flowers. Similar also to vanilla vibes (instead of vanilla you get tonka bean for a similar effect). If you like Jacques Fath’s curacao bay you are for sure going to like this. I have pretty much every scent in this scent profile and yet I can see myself #addtocart to add a full bottle of this too... (let’s be fair, it’s only 30ml, so why not).

Beautiful mineral iteration. Imagine a crisp poplin shirt, coconut suncream, and messy salty hair. I spray this in the dead of the winter when I dream of summer. A marriage between TF Soleil Blanc & Le Labo's Another 13. Layers fantastic with diptique's philosykos EDT. Update: It makes me a bit dizzy when commuting.

This is really good. It’s similar to Calvin Klein reveal but add coconut water and some florals. The coconut water is very prominent in this. It’s more fresh then most other similar salty fragrances.

For someone who normally isn't into marine/aquatic fragrances - this is one of the best I ever ever smelled. This is lovely.
