Rose Infernale

From the reviews it sounded like being a too sharp, too dry and too mature perfume for some Cruella, which it is not! - at all! I would call it a yummy smoky unisex rose. It reminds me just a bit of Paestum Rose, also a good perfume which was somehow too overwhelming for me, with a note that made the whole experience quite difficult. Here, the composition is much simpler, which I love. I really love non-complex compositions, with just a few main players, like here: rose, incense and vetiver. Just three of them, but right to the point. Maybe there are also some spices, but just to frame and highlight the main notes. Infernal Rose smells modern, sweet, fresh, slightly masculine, the texture is rather sheer. It's totally wearable in warmer climates. Nice sillage, moderate longevity. Overall very very nice. Inoffensive, but with its own character. Now I want to test more Terry de Gunzburgs. I'm not a sucker for pretty bottles, but this one is quite good looking, heavy thick glass and shiny metal stopper + wonderful colors of the juice and the box. Thumbs up!

An haute french composition influenced by a middle eastern style. Starts with sharp citrus and black pepper and powdery iris (maybe some heliotrope?) then a rose starts to peek through. In its heart it reminds me of a deeper, rounder, richer Costes 1 designed as a spicy incense rose ambergris attar--it has a roundness and a luminescence like that. Wafts come and go from just one spritz on my arm. This scent is enveloping and emphatic without being loud or bombastic, and very natural smelling. Where I am used to iso-e I don't get it--if its there it's muted. Instead I inhale beautiful powdery florals with a round blond wood rose slowly and artfully emerging. The greenness of the woods comes later. In the heart green woods are obvious up close but sillage is gorgeous rose and incense. Dries down to a spicy musky wood. Evening scent. Love this.

This perfumes opens with a strange, sharp and grassy accord which speedily settles into a sweet, delicate, beautiful, woody, rose scent. The Bulgarian Rose is dominant here and is simply stunning. The fragrance is fairly linear throughout, I find that like the perfume, the projection is also quiet, but longevity on me is pretty good, 7 hours and still smelling gorgeous. This is top draw, French chic in a bottle. Very elegant and can be worn any time and anywhere. The woman who wears this perfume doesn't have to try too hard, is quintessentially chic and basically has nothing to prove. Totally feminine in my opinion, full bottle worthy and absolutely gorgeous.

Three years with an old 3 ml decant. At first it was if a new born civet had pissed directly on me; it burns. That's really where the "infernale" is-- it is hell piercing you with the hiss of civet, frankincense, and rose. Smoke appears, but only subtly which the rest of the perfume is not. Rose IS there but it's so well blended it doesn't pop as much as a rose lover would like (me). It's everyone turned up to their highest pitch. That is what took so long for me to appreciate Rose Infernale.

I must admit the name attracted me more than anything.... Granted I am a rose addict and I collect all sorts of rose perfumes, but with such a name ,mnow can this be anything but a stunner ? It isn't a stunner, The only infernal characteristic here is the name and the color of the juice, which is an incredibly deep and dramatic purple. Why purple ? No reason for it, it could have been red or pink since it is suppose to have rose as a central theme. While it looks lovely in the bottle, it doesn't particularly excite me to put extra chemicals on my skin. The bottle is simplistic and elegant, with a big silver lid. The scent is beautiful, but according to my expectations it doesn't live up to the hype created by such a name. It's a peppery clean rose in the beginning, that slowly goes into the insense and vetiver part. The rose almost disappears leaving only a clean pepper , vetiver and delicate insense on my skin after a while. The silage is average to soft, the lasting power 2-4 hours on my skin . It is fairly unique and rather unisex as it lacks sugar, fruits, and all vanilla which usually make a scent more feminine . Dry , natural smelling, herbal, beautiful. I definitely enjoy it and I am more than happy to wear it, especially since I got it in a lovely swap with a lovely member here, but I cannot help and think it could have been so much more than it is with such a name.
