Rouge Nocturne

I really love Rouge Nocturne for cool winter months. I tried it during my quest for the perfect rose and although I settled for Portait of a Lady, IMHO, nothing can beat that, I would actually love to buy a bottle of this as well. I do not find much similarity between Rouge Nocturne and POL, if anything Rouge Nocturne is very comforting and resinous deep like Lipstick Rose but to me better than Lipstick Rose. I guess that depends on a person's tastes, Lipstick Rose is well true to its name and Rouge Nocturne is more alluring, more seductive and deeper with more sillage and longevity. Perhaps not the most unique as I guess some could call it a blend of Lipstick Rose and POL but it still is different and definitely not a copy of either or anything else. I try a myriad of perfumes, niche in particular and I rarely find anything I have to have or would be willing to buy. Portrait of a Lady was the one I had to have and Rouge Nocturne is one I would be happy to own a bottle of and be willing to buy. Definitely good enough and of quality. I also think it is very wearable even during the day in winter and would likely reach for it often. It would be my next purchase but with spring approaching perhaps not as this definitely is a fall/winter fragrance.

I've stumbled across bunch of TDG samples from this fragrance laying in my never ending pile of things yet to discover and it's so good. It's not a loud scent but the way it's constructed is just beautiful I get amber, sandalwood, raspberries none of which are listed in the notes. In the opening it's a cleaned patchouli and jammy rose combo with raspberry jam but it quickly shifts into more cozy and warm woody scent. I am thrilled to see how easy it is to wear in current cold wet weather. It reminds me of those vintage lipsticks with powdery touch in the background. Simple, clean and beautiful. No headachy rose here, no suffocation from heavy patchouli. Longevity is approximately 5 hours with soft sillage. It's a comfort scent for myself. Very intimate and alluring. Season : fall-winter; preferably for cool humid days. That's when it shows the ambery base with almost lactonic/creamy sandalwood vibe.

Really beautiful, I am in love with this one. As the previous reviewer said, it is kind of like a blend of lipstick rose and POAL, if you can imagine that-- but remains unique and worth owning, even if you have both of those scents already. Like a high quality lipstick w/ its dense waxiness but not as sweet as LR-- darker, more patchouli based and extremely feminine. It's a heady perfume and suitable for fall/winter, but possibly light enough for spring. It's actually the closest I've come to finding an everyday substitute for POAL that is more office/public "appropriate" than portrait. Also, watch out, the juice is dark and can stain stuff (like serge's sarrasins can). Also, the bottle is GORGEOUS! Packaging gets a 10/10 from me, I love the sprayer on the bottle - the finest mist I've ever seen, lol. Scent = 8.5/10 :) Recommended.

This is not a knockout rose/ patch combo like portrait of a lady, nor is it a old fashioned powdery rose, but there's something about it that I find very moreish. It's out and out rose but I get an almost buttery, comfy note and I love it. POAL I wouldn't dream of wearing to bed or for day wear at work, but this I can and do. The silage is not huge but the longevity is good on me. It reminds me of a less complex, lighter version of POAL and a fantastic scent for when you want rose/amber and a light patch to wear all day, any day and for that reason I love it.

My review is based on a sample. All I get is rich red rose and patch for a few hours after a bergamot opening. Very lovely but Ive smelt this before in much cheaper fragrances. Its lovely but certainly no where as fabulous as F Malle POAL which is still top of my list of divine complex rose fragrances. I can see why folk would find it easier to wear though as its not a beast like POAL. Thats easily solved by just wearing one spritz. Gorgeous bottle and hefty price tag. Moderate sillage and longevity.

I've tried the whole Terry line and this perfume is the best of the lot. So unique! I'm looking for a decant/sample of this. I'm in Australia if anyone can help. Sadly, this only comes in a 100ml bottle. Personally, I think 50ml is plenty and I'd be happy with 30ml bottles. At least they'd be more accessible to buyers who don't want to pay over $200 for a huge bottle.

A beautiful powdery rose, enveloping and modern! A beautiful and modern interpretation of rose, a very characteristic perfume and certainly does not go unnoticed! This is a beautiful powdery rose fragrance. It smells like a rose essential oil with a dust of make up powder. Projects so well and lasts on the skin for hours. I would say this is suitable for date nights or romantic evenings because it is too heavy to be worn casually during the day. I love the pink/red juice as well, very feminine!

I take back my previous review on this as it's not as nice as I remember it to be. It's really nothing special at all. This is just my opinion though. I detect a hint of mint. Toothpaste mint to be precise! Oh dear! Off to the bathroom to scrub it off! :(

Gorgeous powdery velvety rose. It reminds me of Tauer's Une Rose Chypree, although it is less complex.

Rose scented makeup powder. This is primarily myrrh rose with dusty patchouli and Amber powder. I don’t sense bergamot which should be listed here as a note. Pretty but I don’t feel the emotional pull or complexity I’d like in an evening scent. To me this is a young and quirky daytime scent. 7/10 On a side note, I’ve sampled a few from this line now and can’t help but feel the marketing is a hopeless miss. This could be great for what it is, however I expected something quite different from the claret colored juice and adjectives: “splendid...voluptuous...addictive...majestic” etc. almost silly. Note to marketers, by all means create desire, but create it for the product you actually have.

My favourite out of Gunzburg's roses designed for colder weather. It's an ambery rose with a patchouli background. It has powdery(iris, amber?), fresh(rose) and spicy-fizzy(patchouli)facets with some soapiness and warmth that usually comes from amber + rose. The warm facet makes it a great companion for woolen clothing, and I think it would be the best for autumn and winter. It reminds me a bit of Very Irresistible edt.

I feel the same as another reviewer. Nothing special. I LOVE ROSE. But this is a mediocre frag I could live without. I can hardly smell it on my skin. It's rose, with a little bitter/herbal patchouli plus some orris or iris in here because it has a powdery feel to it in the air when scented off your skin. On your skin, the herbal/bitterness is present.

I used to love it in the beginning but with time I feel it's too overpowering. Maybe I've just changed my priorities.

Oh, my. This was a huge miss for me! I bought a bottle of this product unsniffed from the Saks website and returned it on the same day, after one spritz. In fact, I knew this wasn't for me even before spraying it, by smelling the bottle alone. Based on the reviews, I was expecting a drier, softer version of Lipstick Rose. Either that, or something closer to L'Artisan's Drole de Roses. I love floral fragrances that smell like makeup/ lipstick and thought this would be it. This one smells like powder and sugar, and it seems like something that was created in the 80's. There is a pretty, lipstick-like note in there, but the sweet cloud of powder that surrounds it won't let me enjoy it. My most disliked fragrance is 24 Faubourg by Hermes; this, to me, is to roses what 24 Faubourg is to orange blossoms, if that makes sense. I suspect those who enjoy 24 Faubourg may like this one. It's not for me, though.

One of my best rose perfumes! A stunning dark red, almost black, rose on a refined patchouli base, boosted with fresh spices and herbs. It's deep like the Marianna Trench and richly intense like the divine ambrosia from the ancient Indian myths. The juice colour can be compared with the one of the pricey collection wines from the best French wine-vaults. A slight vintage lipstick fleur combined with the delicate powdery notes refers to the enchanting decadent beauty of the femme fatal. This fragrance triggers your thoughts and your emotions and tells the story of fiery love and dangerous passion. It settles on the skin with a dash of aromatic syrup mixed with a drop of blood from a thorn prick. Being dizzyingly beautiful and overwhelmingly seductive, it becomes a real treat for your olfactory perception. It's an absolute delight and high perfection!

I tried this fragrance at Barneys today, and to me, it is a very light version of Portrait of a Lady. It is clearly missing a lot of the complexity and beauty of Portrait, but if someone is looking for a lighter "copy", then you will really like this fragrance. On me, the initial top notes come through powdery, but the powdery feeling of this fragrance disappears. The amber and patchouli notes are clearly present. You can clearly detect the rose note, but on the dry down, the amber and patchouli come through. I think it is a nice fragrance and is very easy to wear for day and night. One will not have to worry about the patchouli being too overpowering for the workplace. I like the formation, as when you spray it on, it is not strong - the silage is light considering the notes involved.

Amazing how skin chemistry works! I wasnt sure how this would smell on me. It has essential oil quality about it and i smell deep rich pink roses with a creaminess. I dont know why im not picking up on patchouli! Normally that can be a spoiler. It lasts for a very long time but sillage is low and remains close to the skin throughout. The quality is outstanding which is why its worth wearing for comfort and contentment. After several wears I picked up on a metallic scent almost blood like which put me off. Now I get what a few others meant. Ended up giving it away.

Firstly - the colour is gorgeous! Secondly - the smell is even more gorgeous! Upon application I get rose, rose, some more rose, some vanilla with maybe some musk and a very gentle, restrained patchouli. I can't help but sniff myself wherever I've sprayed it. After about 30 minutes it settles into the heart of the fragrance which is a very powdery rose. I don't normally like powdery perfumes, but this is very nice. If you are looking for a soft, powdery rose, this is the one. Quite strong with moderate sillage.
