Absolute Amethyst

I love this fragrance. When I first tried it, I immediately regretted this blind buy. It wasn't terrible. But it reminded me of my childhood. It instantly took me to Sunday morning, arriving at church, and being tightly hugged by the elderly women at church. The opening to this fragrance is mature like that. I knew that I didn't like it but I needed to go about my day. I left it on my wrists and threw on a jacket and ran out the door to run errands and forgot all about it. I returned home about 1 1/2 hours later and took my jacket off. Wow! The beautiful fragrance that was released amazed me. I got a soft and sensual, sweet and slightly boozy fragrance that is intoxicating. You do have to like powdery fragrances to enjoy this one. I love it. I'm glad that I accidentally waited this out to find out what a beautiful fragrance this truly is. It's a love for me! Try it and don't forget to wait for the dry down. It's worth the wait.

The alcohol note (tequila) in Absolute Amethyst is very strong, it's quite a boozy fragrance. The other minor notes I smell are a sweet, fruity nectarine and lightly spicy coriander. Otherwise, this is a predominantly sweet, almond, vanilla, and tonka scent. It doesn't wow me at first, but as it dries down, it keeps surprising me by how good it smells. It gets kind of musky as it dries down, floral musky, and delightfully sweet with tonka. It lasts on me up to 10 hours, close to the skin, but I can smell it. It doesn't smell anything like Addict, to me, though. Sure, it's a tonka/vanilla, but Addict is a white floral, whereas this has kind of nondescript floral musky notes. It doesn't have the growl or purr of Addict. It's gentle, soft, sweet, a little flirtatious with that boozy note, but nothing too crazy and in your face. I like it, though - it's comfortable and comforting. This bottle is being sold for a good price, so I might pick one up at some point, as a comfy winter cozy fragrance, sweet but not choking.

The Short: I like this scent. The Long: Really blasts with alcohol boozy citrus smell at first. Then major Tonka Bean Bomb! It morphed into leathery and smokey-sweet aura. It was like beautiful incense burning hot or a Halloween Party Bonfire. It was truly an experience to smell this. I had a skin reaction to it. I wish I hadn't returned it. I would like to enjoy it once again.

This one is is more interesting than I thought it would be; on my skin it veers into Mugler Angel Muse EDT (not EDP)territory. Lasts about an hour, maybe less, or I'd get a bottle. Very low price on Macy's right now. This is probably the most off the beaten path of the collection, while Blooming Opal is the crowd-pleasing buttery white floral – also dismal performance.

way too much harsh raw alcohol in the opening but then a lovely dry tonka in the top; mainly tonka with a little vanilla orchid, coriander, lemon blossom, almond blossom; the base warms up with an almost leather quality

I like it, but don't love it. Strong, for winter. Opening is kind of grapey. Dries down to sweet tonka, with a little incense. The vanilla and tonka remind me of Shalimar EDT, but not as good.

Very sweet -- a bit too sweet for me in a way I don't love (sometimes I love sweet!). There's also what my nose reads as a woody or maybe tonka/hay-type note that I'm not crazy about either, but not sure what it is. I really like Thalia Sodi's Blooming Opal (a tuberose) and Liquid Sun (orange blossom/neroli), but I'll have to pass on this one.

Overall, a pleasant smell when used sparingly. Too much of it nauseates me, as it's too sweet. Fighting through to the dry down is worth it, however. The booziness levels out and it all settles nicely on the skin. Once settled, it lasts a while and then becomes perfect as a base for layering.

This is very dark and vampy if you like strong balsamic perfumes.

Thought I'd love it from the reviews but this is a hard pass for me. I agree it is a dark vampy perfume, it makes me think of being in an abandoned church on a rainy day lighting incense. On my skin its very coriander heavy all the way through. I dont get any other notes (super sad on that bc the notes sounded so neat) except maybe the Tonka and somehow some sort of oud smell as well. I will say it's an intriguing smell. I was continually smelling my wrist. Lasted for maybe 4 hours. Interesting but not for me I guess!

I hate this fragrance. I can barely smell anything than alcohol and smoke. Extremly weak, weird...I do not like it.

Absolute Amethyst is like a BOOZY, trippy version of Juicy Fruit (gum) that is super sexy, wildly VIVID, and fresh-on-the-night-scene-clean! The vanilla adds a dark brown sugar punch without dissolving into an overly syrupy molasses! The drydown gets rich and luxe...and UNUSUAL; like a tipsy cupcake that stumbles into a spice cabinet and whispers 'wazzzzzzzzzzup' and almost gets herself arrested for frostitution.

Amethyst has a gorgeous smoky note in it. On me, the drydown is very much like By The Fireplace...but at a fraction of the cost. Smoky vanilla and just a hint of wood even though there isn't a wood note listed. After 4 hours, it is still present. I am thrilled with this perfume, to say the least.

I love this one! Smoky and strong. Definitely can be unisex.
