Peacock Throne

If you love jasmine, you will probably love this fragrance. Warning: it is sweet, but so is a jasmine bush. I had goosebumps after I put it on. Sillage is very good but not overwhelming. I will say, though, it could be cloying to someone who prefers crisper scents. I like the heavy fragrances, florals, and orientals, so I like Peacock Throne. FYI: It seems that Thameen's Peacock Throne is only available via Selfridges UK--and not they will not ship internationally. The website Surrender to Chance does have samples up to 15 ml glass sprays, which is not a bad alternative for those outside UK.

Peacock Throne immediately greets you with an elegant, spicy bite of pink pepper. This vibrant opening quickly mellows, giving way to a warm, refined heart of orris and pink rose. This is a truly classy rose, expertly enhanced by subtle base notes of patchouli and green vetiver. Interestingly, the vanilla only emerges after the first 5 to 10 minutes on the skin, which is when the full, lovely development of this fragrance shines through. Be warned: it's a powerhouse in sillage. If you appreciate the style of scents like Nomad or Radical Rose, this is a must-try.

This fragrance has a few of my favorite notes: rose, orris, patchouli, and vanilla. It's sensual, seductive, and truly alluring. I do smell that TF Black Orchid similarities but I feel Peacock Throne is a more polished, refined, and ultimately better blended version. This is a compliment magnet (at least it has been for me) and a year round easy pick; quite possibly my signature scent.

This is definitely a perfume you need to wear during winter. The quality of the vanilla in it is absolutely amazing. The longevity is impressive—it lasts the whole day. I usually save it for special occasions, as it feels too precious to wear daily.

beautiful spicy floral scent with a nice amount of wood. Lasts much longer than some of the other offering from this brand.

Peacock Throne is absolutely fabulous fragrance . Taif Rose on the stage and behind the curtains there is very nicely stands out the smooth and fresh scent of Indian Jasmine with slight notes of Orris Root. After 45 minutes from time to time I can scent some sweetness which comes from Vanilla. The Drydown is smooth and super sexy. This is unisex IMO . Very good choice for Rose 🌹 lovers . The projection is great but after 3 hours the scent is very close to my skin ( intimate). All in all gorgeous performance. Classic and beautiful spring .

So this is TF black orchid dna made easier to wear and more rose to it. Pretty nice just the price is a tad high for that.

Opens with a beautiful, juicy Taif rose, the edges of its petals delicately limned with lemon. Over time, the jasmine comes forward and we descend from those heights with an unfortunate “bathroom cleaner” aspect. The vetiver remains present but polite in the background until about hour three, when the scent becomes primarily woods, with just a bare remaining touch of florals, sitting close to the skin. Today’s arbitrary rating criteria: Quality - 7/10 Fidelity to its name - 4/10 [‘Peacock’ suggests bright neon colours - at least more varied florals. And nothing here evokes its actual namesake, the seat of India’s Mughal emperors ...] Ability to hold my interest - 3/10

Powdery Floriental that sadly does not register much of an impact due to overuse of the orris and pink pepper notes. The scent opens with the orris and pink pepper with a bit of jasmine. The heart is mostly rose with slight ylang ylang. The perfume settles into a powdery base of vetiver, sandalwood, patchouli and vanilla. The feminine leaning scent has moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. Those into scents like Black Orchid will probably like this one but it is amongst the lesser offerings of this line. Enjoy!

Opens with a blast of sharp lemon and pungent spices, vaguely blunted by a prominent earthiness, while the florals come out to play as the top notes burn off. Centered around a soft powdery rose, it gets sweeter the more it dries down but the earthiness takes a long time to subside as patchouli carries through in the base what nutmeg started upfront. Moderately soft projection for 3-4hr, longevity 10-12hr. Similar concept as Black Orchid while still clearly being its own thing.

Disappointing. Peacock Throne is reminiscent of any mainstream floral perfume strip I’ve yanked out of Vogue magazine: loud and generically “high end”, abrasively fresh spicy. Immediately on skin I got a sweet somehow watermelon aroma. Then Taif rose with pink pepper, pink pepper is usually a favorite... I rinsed it off gently, and was left with super fresh spice with a tinge of plastic. Bummer.

This scent dissapointed me. Received it as a tester but all I can say is it is probably a skin chemistry or preference thing but I think this smells bad. The rose is not noticeable for me at all and it somehow smells very chemical. Really overpowering scent that gives me grandma and somehow also unisex vibes. My jaw dropped when I looked it up and saw the price of the bottles. Very overpriced for what you get in my opinion.

A typical “luxury” rose, very pleasant. Sour-sweet thick rose, on a sour-sweet creamy base, sometimes a ghost like saffron hint. Turns syrupy for a while. Rather linear scent, very long lasting. If you never tried rose at this price range, you might found it stunning; but if you’re well versed in this type of brand, you won’t find much surprise. Anyway, good to have if you haven’t already got something similar.

You cannot "have something similar" as together with The Cora, Peacock Throne is a unique scent among the dozen Thameen fragrances I tried. It does smell expensively British, being a foreign floriental at the same time, just like the multifaceted peacock tail. The only thing the scent reminds me of is the Eternal Spring sculpture by A. Rodin - it is young, slightly androgynous, with warm transparency, delicate, and aristocratic. Though the perfumery tradition behind it is far from being French, its quality is on the par with Caron! And this is the second thing that comes to mind when you encounter this princely perfume :-)

This is a great offering from the house of Thameen. It displays the beautiful Taif rose. The top notes and the heart are reversed on my skin. I can smell the Taif rose from the very beginning. It's gently supported by jasmine and pink pepper with the orris root in the background. When it fully dries down, patchouli and vetiver become more prominent. I'm not sure why someone would describe it as a chemical smell. The smell is very natural and the ingredients used are of high quality. This is not something one would find from the average designer selection. Excellent longevity and fairy good projection!

I came here after putting it on and was shocked to see it was for women. It's way too manly for me the first 2-3 hours. After that though? It's beautiful rose, vetiver and patchouli with mint facets. My son came in while I was wearing it in the 'manly' stage and loved it so I gave the rest of mine to him. Even though it's not for me, I would love to smell this on a man. I can tell it is a high quality fragrance.

Raspberry drops, sweet liquorice, patchouli, rum, hint of charred oak and jammy rose. The rose really starts to dominate after about 5 minutes with the lightly smokey, dark note being in the background, providing a good albeit weak contrast to the playfulness of the general candied feel of the fragrance. Nice enough but nothing exciting.

Very damp and earthy opening, possibly from the patchouli. Dries down into a weak detergent-like vetiver, with only mild rose nuances. It is nice on other people, but I have ambivalent feelings about this one. First time - nice ! second time - what was that ? third time - nice fourth time - theres something in it I cant put my finger on. Perhaps its that earthy thing. Decided to get something else from Thameen.

I think this is gorgeous! Very rich, opulent Rose that last forever. My complaint is with the cap! Such cheap, thin plastic - on such an expensive, pretty bottle is a shame. Maybe with Christopher Chong in the lead, they will get an upgrade...

rose, rose and more overpriced rose. Strong resemblance to ES nuit noor and TF black orchid. The only difference is in the fresh, juicy opening thanks to the orris-jasmine combo. Lovely to sample but not worth the full bottle.

Yes it’s all been said: black orchid. Slightly fresher in the opening. I found a bottle for a really great price (less than black orchid) so I’m very happy. I love it (and black orchid).

Beautiful fragrance. This reminds me of Womanity without the aquatic note. There is definitely spicy rose, here. Very pretty. This is unusual and smells expensive, to my nose.

More refined and wearable Black Orchid. It skips the weird phase and gets to the good part right away

It smells good but I already have 3 perfumes that smell similar. Including black orchid.

Black Orchid with the earthy, soil aspect turned way, way down.

Smells very similar to Tom Ford black Orchid
