The Cora

When I first smelled it, because I knew a lot of Thameen fragrances were named after jewels, I thought of a yellow or white diamond. I read up on the name afterwards, and it totally made sense! It was named after the 110.3 carat Cora Sun diamond, the biggest yellow diamond in the world. The fragrance smells like fresh, clear, and soft white florals that contains lots of nectar. The floral notes are followed by slightly gourmand finish with the benzoin, vanilla, and amber. The crispness and brightness also reminded me of Versace Bright Crystal. When I got it in the mail, I sprayed it once in the back of my hand, and the cloud followed me around for hours! It’s so beautiful and smells like how royalty would smell.

I’ve fallen hard for this one. A more unisex version to me of old formulation Idylle edp. Added musk and woods and some notes tuned. This is gorgeous - worn in the cusp of winter in NZ, I’m smitten. Long lasting with great performance. Smells expensive and really well put together. Floral notes particularly the purple florals, are present. Rose is a white rosewater sweetened with golden floral tones. This is just so good.

The wisteria scent has excellent projection, is captivating, and lasts quite well on the skin, around 10 hours. It's a luxurious, impressive, and quite unique fragrance compared to a typical floral perfume.

Delicious ambered flowers!! Lots of flowers!! Luxurious white florals over nuanced rosey violets, with a creamy amber envelope and an ever so slightly sweet and sour candied drydown. It shares a very similar vibe with Times Square from Masque Milano. The Cora leans more feminine, perhaps adding a strong oud would not only make it a very interesting combination, but also make it much more unisex. Wearable on almost any weather, with the exception of very warm days. Projection is on the upper side of moderate for an hour, then it becomes intimate, longevity is around four hours. Lovely, flowery, feminine, sweet and timeless!

Lovely woody floral musk centered around the wisteria flower, very rarely used in perfumery, this is a sophisticated but somewhat lesser of the offerings of the Thameen line of luxury fragrances. the perfume opens with a floral burst of the central wisteria, surrounded by magnolia, rose and jasmine. The heart is mostly benzoin surrounded by slight hints of vanilla, carnation and lily of the valley. The perfume settles into a synthetic musk base surrounded by hints of amber and patchouli. Overall a nice elegant feminine leaning scent but also somewhat familiar. Moderate to strong sillage and good longevity. Enjoy!

To me this smells like a soapy rose perfume. It has the background dna of Peregrina if you have smelt that one before. I like this but I don’t love it. It smells very plain to me and not very interesting. It’s definitely a winter perfume with the deep rose and woody powdery scent. I have a sample so I am judging this scent by a decant I got. It might be different in a full bottle. I notice that the projection seems to be close to the body but could be due to having a sample. If I got this perfume I would definitely wait till Winter to purchase a full bottle and to wear .

I tried The Cora this morning without looking at any of the notes, and I would’ve never guessed wisteria, or most of the other notes for that matter. My first impression was caramel and patchouli, with something fresh like aldehydes. There’s some very good stamina mixed into this blend. I’m a fan of this scent, but it is complex and feels like a winter perfume, despite the spring/summer upvotes above. Intriguing is a good descriptor.

Received this for my bday yesterday, not one i would have chosen myself but it was a gift and i actually like it. Quite watery and strong on first spray but then it dries down and projects amazingly well. The rose is quite prominent to my nose even though it gets a little softer in the end as well as musk and patchouli.

Very rose-forward at first, then settling into a deeper range of florals while retaining that attractive sweetness. This reminds me of some modern floral chypre designer scents that my daughter likes (say, Margiela’s On a Date) so I’ll give her the rest of the sample. It’s nice, but rather by-the-numbers for the price.

Smells quite intense right after application but then quickly begins to smell light and floral. It is a very polished and mature scent and smells like something I would expect a successful yet humble woman to wear. It smells like quiet luxury to me.

Very strong & unique smell. It changes throughout the day. Starts woody then floral. Better than Regent Leather which I have also. RECOMMEND!

If I would not have known that this is a fragrance by the house of Thameen, I would have thought that it is something from Jo Malone. It has the same vibe for way steeper price tag. Sits very close to skin, moderate longevity.

Very regal and old fashioned, suitable for a queen.

The methyl aroma and sweet green notes (pineapple-like) are similar to the impression I got from the living, real wisteria flower. However, the jasmine-based white flower and watery-citrusy scent embodying Magnolia are a bit dissonant. The dried-down smells like rotten cheese.

Just before the Pandemic, my sister was fortunate to have the opportunity to go and live abroad; I'd given her a bunch of perfume samples, and she'd written to me some time later relaying that "I want to sex myself when I wear this", referring to The Cora. I had laughed my head off and promised that I would get it for her one day. Over five years later, I happened to chance upon a great deal for a new 100ml bottle, and thought I'd surprise my sister for her upcoming annual visit to the U.K. I couldn't help but try a cheeky spray of the perfume when I received it through the post - just to make sure it was legit. The Cora opens, to my nose, rather heavy on the rose; a pink and pretty, sweet and dewy sort of rose. There is a pleasant aldehydic note that instantly reminds me of ELDO's clean and soapy Exit the King. After this initial rosy burst the fragrance grows sweeter into a generic and familiar fruity-floral scent, and I am unable to discern any particular floral note at this stage, least of all delicate wisteria and magnolia, both of which I appreciate in nature. But sure enough, once this settles, there is an almost powdery and hazy, peach-like warmth embellished with spicy carnation. When you close your eyes and detach yourself from the cloying sweetness, you are able to catch the evocative scent of a summer garden at dusk: heady nectar hanging in the air, warm orchard fruits swelling with thick, sugary juices, and a gentle zephyr carrying the scent of freshly washed fabrics that have dried in the sun. The sweetness finally gives way to a clean musk dry down, again, familiar like Narciso Rodriguez, Fleur de Peau, and many others, lasting around 10 hours quietly on my skin. It was the floral, clean, soapy aspect that my sister was so fond of experiencing in her warm and tropical climate. Personally, I am unable to fathom such an extortionate RRP for this underwhelming scent, and would have kicked myself had I payed full price. But both my bank balance and my sister will be beyond thrilled.

I had a partial sample of this, probably about .5 ml. I accidentally spilled most of it on my chest, I managed to have some left for my wrists. At first I got a faint whiff of a beautiful dark, spicy rose. It was also sweet, like honey. Then, after the rose faded, if I put my nose to my wrist, I could smell a sweet, delicate floral, probably the wisteria. And then, nothing. Like I cannot smell anything after 1 minute, 2 tops. I don’t know if something happened to the sample because I really did get a good amount on my chest, so I should have smelled it. What I could smell leads to believe that I would really like this perfume, assuming it actually lasts longer than my sample experience. The votes for longevity make it seem that my experience is not normal with this perfume. I’ve had issues with dabber samples before, not sure if it’s the company it came from (this sample just so happened to come from the same place I’d had issues with in the past), or because the perfume needs an atomizer? Disappointing experience overall.

I tried this without looking at the notes, and I have to admit, when I reviewed them, I was surprised. This, on me, is honey . A floral, almost manuka (or leatherwood) honey, rich and deep. Sweet, but not sugary - so deep it's almost resin. It's well blended - I can't pick out any one particular note - but the description of "golden" fits it well. I want to drizzle this on toast and eat it.

Tuberose, waxy jasmine, vanilla and peach in quite a feminine leaning blend. Like a luxurious hand cream, with the inspiration coming from a more youthful, modern chypre. One of those 'pretty' fragrances that doesn't go the extra mile for me and just stays in the 'pleasant but meh' category.

Can't get into Thameen, well blended and high-quality ingredients laced in a veil of thin and watery aroma. If I wanted to be naked or have barely there fragrance, why spend this type of money. No thanks, I like to smell and enjoy my fragrance.

It is pretty, but it's very aldehydic so beware. I blind bought it and I do feel it's special with the wisteria and jasmine in center, I just am not a fan of so clean smelling fragrances, like fresh laundry.
