The Hope

This one really surprised me! I was expecting a more funky and heavy experience, but I was proven wrong. The fragrance starts of a bit aromatic, and spicy, with cloves being the main note for the opening. After 10 min, the fragrance turns a bit more ambery, woody, and somewhat musky, which is done really well and not headache inducing. Something that stays constant throughout the duration of the wear is the immortelle note, which is super plesing and gives me honey/ tobacco vibes, making it a bit smoother. Its smooth character also makes it a bit less projecting, but not to the point where it performs bad. I don't really get the complaints about the bad performance, especially considering its concentration. However, the retail price is a bit too high for my liking.

People... It's fantastic! I didn't have much expectation because I was disappointed with Peregrina, but I was wrong. The opening was very similar to TF Tobacco Vanille, but more complex, I smelled also incense and flowers. This smell is hard to describe, similarly to Peregrina. They are airy, like BR 540. One reviewer says that get rather Bon Parfumeur 401 instead. Well, you can - but they are different to me. I own 401, it's called Prune-Cedar-Vanilla and it's deeper, sweeter, more fruity. I smell rum, the vanilla is a powdery sugar coat on the Christmas cookies. Whereas The Hope is a creamy, pleasant, non offensive blend with decent projection and it lasts around 6 - 7 hours. Just beautiful.

Lovely woody aromatic scent that is evocative the olfactory splendor of an enchanted Indian palace. The perfume opens with spicy notes of cloves, cardamom and smoky myrrh. As it starts settling, one can detect notes of immortelle, cedar and slight oud. The perfume finally settled on a powdery bed of ambergris, labdanum, musk and vetiver. Unisex with moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. A memorable and haunting experience. Enjoy!

I spray this on and sigh ... another "me too" Thameen, throwing out yet another overdone scent profile. This time it's the warm resinous Christmas-spice sort of scent. Fine - I grab my favourite of the type, La Closerie's Oud Canelle, put it on the other hand, and the race is on. They start quite similar, Oud Canelle just a bit brighter and more interesting (to my nose). After an hour though, they've completely parted ways. While Oud Canelle is still in full party mode, The Hope has turned all somber and sophisticated, settling into a vetiver/amber skin scent that practically screams Tom Ford Private Blend DNA. After moping in a dark corner of the party for another hour, The Hope disappears ... who hurt you, Hope? Meanwhile Oud Canelle is still partying like the night is young, all bright and spicy and interesting, spiking the egg nog with a gleam in its eye. Between the two, I'd save the $50 and take Oud Canelle any day. Which I guess goes to show, in the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation pantheon, I'm more goofy Cousin Eddie than rich heartless bossman Frank.

All my favourite notes are gathered together to create something mysterious and dark. I think the main dancers here are myrrh, oud, and immortelle with its hay-like structure. Cinnamon, clove combination is never gourmand, they are there for a spicy depth. This fragrance is quite churchy. The only problem is that the lasting power is low.

I love, love, love it—great, warm spicy opening with zero Oud detected—but for some reason it disappears around the one hour mark in cold weather, either that, or I become nose blind. I’ve worn The Hope three times, so my next test will need to be in warmer weather.

Cinnamon heaven.I wish this fragrance could last longer on my skin as it is a perfect cinnamon and honey scent.Truly love this creation but lasting power is so weak to the point it becomes skin scent straight after I spray it :(

My heart is broken but my wallet rejoices! This is absolutely stunning! I love it so much and would be seriously tempted (even at retail price) if only it lasted. I saw the reviews warning of low longevity, so I did the whole rigamarole- shower, moisturize, wait... spray some on skin and some on clothes... and that opening blew me out of the water! The pyramid is like my dream perfume, and this thing totally delivers all of it at for about an hour. I checked the clock when I sprayed- 4pm. I was still lolling in bliss at 5, but by 6 I was sniffing the places where I sprayed on fabric, searching for it- it was still there but only faintly. I sprayed some more, and boom- there it is! Typically if I'm going nose blind a respray doesn't come in with the full gusto of the first spray, but this did- so I really don't think this is olfactory fatigue. Such abysmal performance makes this an easy pass for me. For reference I don't usually have strength or longevity complaints. I do not have perfume drinking skin, and I don't need a beast of a 'fume to be happy. (experience from official boxed spray sample)

On the brand’s website, the composition is listed as: Top Notes: Ceylon Cardamom, Frankincense, Cloves, Ceylon, Cinnamon Bark, Pink Pepper Middle Notes: Immortelle Flower, Patchouli, White Cedar wood, Nagarmotha Base Notes: Labdanum, Musks, Haitian Vetiver, Olibanum Strangely, there is not much consistency with description vs. pyramid, as oud is mentioned in the accompanying notes on the brand’s website, but not in the pyramid. But whatever....this is a wonderful fragrance!! I am truly bewitched. It’s a complex blend of cool spices, cold woods, rubbery musks and resins and an immortelle flower which imparts an eccentric honeyed vanilla sweetness. Over the top of everything, the nagarmotha adds an off-kilter, muted leathery smokiness - almost like the scent of hot engine oil when you look under the hood of a car. The Hope is abstract, exotic, long-lasting and, I have to say, completely unique. I’ve never smelled any perfume quite like this before. Today I’ve layered with dehn al oud oil for a solid Arabian-style experience! Full bottle worthy? Definitely. Give it a try. I think you’ll love it!

Just tested today from a sample. I loved! and, as soon as I tried it, it reminded me of something I had tried before but I didn't know what was, until I remembered it: Bonheur from Bortnikoff!. (which production is over now). Looking at the list of notes they have several in common, but it is the clove and myrrh that give them the resemblance. The Hope is the son, and Bonheur the father. They share the same DNA, but unfortunately, I have to corroborate what is said in many reviews below, that The Hope barely lasts an hour on the skin. Not worth it. We could say that The Hope would be something like a water cologne, while Bonheur will be an Eau de Parfum.

The hope? More like the nope lol but in all seriousness, the scent itself is GORGEOUS but it’s a nope because the performance is HORRIBLE. I doused myself in a 2ml factory sample and couldn’t smell myself less than an hour later. It’s been 3 hours now and it’s gone completely, only faintly on the clothes. For $175 it should be illegal to make it so fleeting. Again, it’s a really lovely scent, but forget a skin scent as it’s just really lovely scented water I’m afraid. Gone too soon. If it had even moderate performance I would buy a FB.

Reminiscent of Tom Ford Noir Extreme but cleaner and sharper. TF is lactonic, sweeter and fuller in body. I do prefer The Hope, just because this is a clean and warm scent which would also work in colder summer nights. Extremely beautiful sweet cinnamon and oud scent, safe blind buy if you like all the above. Smells mystical and mysterious...

A dry, spicy scent with frankincense, bergamot, cardamom, nutmeg, vanilla, saffron and sandalwood sharing space in a beautifully blended way. Ultra smooth and one of the more "ready-to-wear" scents I've tried lately, meaning you don't have to let it dry down before it loses its sharp edges. This is signature worthy!

This is ambery, warm spicy and delicious very well blended type of perfume. It's in the same category as Tom Ford -Plum Japonais , Boadiceea - Amethyst and especially Bon Parfumeur -401. Because of the poor performance, I would definetely get the Bon Parfumeur at a fraction of the price.

The Hope is such a special fragrance. Perfect for an evening out or cozy winter night in. The beautiful patchouli is so subtly entwined with deep, elegant amber. So unique.

Idk what yall are yapping about this lasted 10+ hours on my skin with solid 3 hours of projection. Wish I liked it more though.

Great fragrance, essentially a dupe of Roja Creation-E with that sweet cola note and beautiful dry down.
