Dhuaf

It was suggested I might like Thana "Dhuaf" as an alternative to an Alexandria Fragrances perfume I adore with a similar (not identical) profile. That Alexandria Fragrances perfume is not in the Fragrantica database. OMG...I have no words for this lovely perfume Dhuaf. Given the scent profile and the stratospheric price-point, my expectations were pretty high. Thana Dhuaf does not disappoint. Dhuaf begins with a beautiful, full, robust and perfectly balanced coffee-cardamom-hazelnut accord that gives the perfume a slightly edgy, nutty, earthy opening. But Dhuaf is in no way, shape, or form a gourmand fragrance. On skin, a lovely floral jasmine emerges and is met with beautiful frankincense and some spiciness from the pimento. Dhuaf is exquisitely balanced & blended, so the mid-notes melt into one another with perfection. The frankincense in this perfume is not incense-y, smoky, or liturgical. The frankincense smells balsamic and almost green as it perfectly meshes with dry vetiver. A rather gentle chocolate note and a bit of patchouli eventually blend with a hefty dose of amber. Sandalwood adds a touch of sweet creaminess. The fragrance lands as a slightly spicy, creamy, floral, woody, amber-heavy fragrance. Performance seems stellar with good longevity, good projection. Without doubt, Dhuaf is high quality, exquisite and positively gorgeous. I love this perfume. Just wish it wasn't $325 USD.
