Buttercream Haze

So when 7 Virtues sent out their pr packages to the perfume influencers, the notes listed were different and I think they made more sense. It read "Top notes: Buttercream icing, rum essence, cosmos petals, lemon zest. Heart Notes: maple cream, fluffy pancake accord, toasted caramel swirl. Base notes: Vanilla, creamy sandalwood, cashmere musk, and tonka bean". Also you guys need to realize in these reviews that we all smell differently. I do get strong solid buttercream, particularly in the beginning. And some of you guys don't get any and instead think this smells like pancakes. I get a bit of a maple accord but would never categorize this as a pancake scent over the strong buttercream/caramel notes. The branding isn't trying to mislead you. We just all don't smell the same. That being said this might be my favorite gourmand of all time. It smells like a sweeter cheriosa 71 on me and I love it. I've seen it dry down to a bit more masculine on other people but luckily for me it stays sweet and it dries down to a lightly sweet, musky sandalwood. Absolute perfection. And yes it does remind me of my favorite Yankee candle from high-school (vanilla cupcake I think?) Edit: I have been wearing this for about a month and the dry down is very opulent and buttery and woody. Still very reminiscent of cheriosa 71 and I am obsessed. Also I have gotten so many compliments on this fragrance. Definitely an all time favorite. A tip I have if you want the sweet notes to linger is spray your clothes instead because it does turn slightly less feminine on skin and while I love it, I do enjoy the sweeter top notes as well.

I’m surprised they don’t have citrus listed because in the opening I definitely get a lemon poundcake. And then, as it started to melt onto my skin the lemon pound cake disappears, and it becomes more of a lightly spiced cake with caramel sauce. I get just a tiny pinch of maple. Once the perfume completely dries down to the base is where this becomes straight up vanilla buttercream frosting. But I love how the perfume never becomes too sweet or overbearing. I think the 7 virtues did a great job🤗😍 We all have different ways that we smell things so I would never say that anyone is wrong in comparing one perfume to another. With that being said, I don’t personally see any resemblance between this and hot cakes by snif. That perfume is a maple bomb 💣 and it smells like buttery, maple syrup pancakes 🥞 Buttercream haze is more of a cake with buttercream icing 🧁 both sweet and delicious but different.

If you hate sweet, heavy, honest to god gourmands, this perfume would be considered self harm... For the those of us who do, this is a delightful and very realistic-smelling syrupy, caramel cream gourmand. It is strong. Decent Sillage and a few 4-5 hours of fragrance, however my husband said he could clearly smell the perfume that same evening of wear. Thank the gods that man has a strong nose and likes a beastly perfume/cologne. I personally, wouldn’t wear this to work (office) or in close quarters or around a migraine because someone will probably hunt and kill you. I love this. The name is absolutely appropriate. I’m enjoying 7V’s foray into heavy gourmands. I love the Canada and America themed fragrances too. Of course, I enjoy smelling like an apple pie covered, rack of barbecued ribs... I’m an American!

It's odd how bergamot is not mentioned in the Notes here. The back of the bottle reads "Sustainably sourced bergamot from Italy", and you can definitely smell it. There is a slight lemon-y/citrus-y vibe to it, especially in the initial spray. I would personally categorize this perfume as a sweet, gourmand, baked cake scent. The more I wear it the more it smells like a rich fluffy maple vanilla lemon cake. Sweet and creamy and decadent. I really really like it. Although I personally wish that the vanilla and buttercream notes were stronger/heavier. But if you enjoy smelling like freshly baked goods, you’ll like this one as much as I do. I'm currently layering it with LoveShackFancy 'Vanilla Twirl' body mist, and it's divine.

This is a delicious gourmand. I sprayed it in Sephora and everyone in the general area went crazy for it. Which to me is impressive. It's hard to smell anything in Sephora. One person said it smells like the holidays. I completely agree. It is warm and sweet just like the way the house smells when baking during the holidays. It unlocks warm memories. It is strong at first but does stick closer to the skin within the first hour. I feel like I'm gently radiating comfort all day. It does smell a bit like a 90's Yankee Candles shop at Christmas...in a really good way.

if you love gourmands like me, you’d LOVE this. it is an extremely sweet, syrupy scent, almost like a syrupy caramel cake with some lemon zest on top. i personally love that little hint of lemon, it gives it a unique scent profile rather than just being a syrup perfume lol. however the name is completely different from the fragrance, i get no “buttercream” at alll! it is just a sweet (could be considered sickly sweet) fragrance that literally makes you smell edible. but be aware to spray this lightly, it is so strong!

This is very photorealistic! It smells like an autumn breakfast in Vermont, The Adirondacks, or Southern Quebec. This is Sugar Shack creamy goodness! Too intense if you’re not a huge gourmand lover or if you don’t like it to smell too much like dessert. I personally love it! I was terrified because TikTok fragrance influencer said it smells like Crumb Couture ( which I don’t like) but thank goodness I don’t get that from this scent.

This is very very yummy!! I love the maple note in this and the caramel note scared me when I saw it but it's not caramel dominant at all. Genuinely smells like a stack of pancakes with maple syrup drizzled over it and something slightly toasted. This is what I feel like Hot Cakes from Snif tried to be, but that one is just TOO sweet. This is fluffier and more airy. Delicious! 8/10

Wow this is DELICIOUS. Im kind falling out of love with vanilla and heavy gourmands, but I will say this hits the sweet spot!! Dense, thick, sweet cake & maple frosting. I do get why people call this "candle"ish, but I really really like this. Really realistic buttercream, vanilla & caramel. Rolled my eyes when I smelled this - yummy & definitely for the sweet gourmand girlies!!

Even though this is an incredibly (and wonderfully) sweet scent, it somehow doesn't smell artificial to me AT ALL. The initial sweetness dries down into a fluffy and slightly woody bakery scent. The sweet notes are balanced so nicely by the tonka/musk/woods. Also love having a sweet gourmand that isn't a vanilla.

I have Montale chocolate greedy and for me, this smelled exactly like that except for the slight orange note Montale's has. Its not bad, it smells delicious but for someone who has Chocolate greedy you dont need this one.

You guys....this is THE fall gourmand fragrance of your dreams! It smells and will make YOU smell like the world’s most mouth-watering maple butter yankee candle!

the longevity is really good; it lasted around 10 hours and i could still smell it slightly on my wrist after i showered

This is one of the most beautiful, long lasting and show stopping gourmand I have ever smelled!

Super Sweet, caramel, vanilla, woody, balsamic, rich, decadent, yummy, feminine, sensual, seductive, flirty, dreamy, delicious, delightful, alluring, tempting, addictive, yummy, inviting, cozy, comforting, extremely gourmand Oh wow is this ever a super sweet and delightfully yummy gourmand treat! On me it opens sweet and rich with decadent buttercream and sweet vanilla. As it begins drying down the rich maple comes through along with the sweet and creamy caramel. Once it’s dried down the tonka bean comes through and slightly grounds all of the rich and decadent sweet notes. The overall impression that I get is of a sweet, thick, and rich vanilla buttercream frosting swirled with maple! This is definitely one for the hardcore gourmand lovers, like myself! It’s super sugary sweet, rich, and decadent! Think thick and rich buttercream frosting swirled with gooey caramel, vanilla, and a touch of maple. Extremely sweet and Super yummy. This might actually be sweeter than Pink Sugar (which I still love after all these years!) and I could see it verging on cloying for some people, particularly in the heat. It’s also a bit heavy, so likely not a good choice to wear in the heat. This is definitely a fragrance for the colder weather of fall and winter. It’s particularly lovely during the fall because of the maple note. There is something here that sort of brings to mind a fall candle as well, one that’s meant to smell of a bakery, or frosted cake. It definitely comes across more food like than candle, I think it’s just a background impression that I’m getting. I understand why some people get the impression of pancakes with maple syrup because this does have a fairly prominent maple note. Personally, I get a vanilla and maple buttercream frosting scent. Maple can be a bit tricky, and I do with it was done more softly here. I also have Ellis Brooklyn Queen’s Caramal which has a maple note, but it’s done extremely well there, and it’s very well balanced. I highly recommend checking that one out if this came across as too much. Even if you love this one, I still recommend Queen’s Caramel because it really surprised me with how much I love it! I have a few fragrances from The 7 Virtues, and I really enjoy all of them! Along with Buttercream Haze I also have Vanilla Woods (my fave!), and Coconut Sun. I don't know what happened, but I completely changed my mind about this fragrance. At first, I hated it, but now I use it constantly. I agree with the other comments and this is definitely NOT a blind buy. You have to wear it to decide if you actually like it. On paper, it smells completely different, and it definitely reacts differently with body chemistry. I don't know why but during the first few days I smelled a burned, heavy scent, almost like pepper, which I really didn’t like, and I almost gave it away to someone. But I decided to give it another try, and now I love this fragrance. I probably won’t buy it again because it doesn’t last very long. I feel like I need to reapply it after an hour, but overall I’m obsessed with this type of fragrance, apparently. I can totally smell heavy caramel and syrup, but also lemon cake. It kind of reminds me of a lemon cake vape I used to smoke, and maybe that’s why this fragrance unlocked something in my mind :D It is definitely for lovers of heavy, sweet gourmand fragrances, but if it actually suits your body chemistry and you can smell all the sweet caramel-lemon notes, you will love it. Just please try it before buying it!

I was feeling stressed when I bought this, I sprayed it on myself and immediately felt a weight fall off my shoulders. It’s childlike, cozy, caramel waffles. Spraying it on my wrists evokes a sharp almost cedar scent that takes me out of it, and it’s too strong. I prefer this as a puff in the air that I stand under and let fall onto my hair. This way, I get gentle wafts of it all day that make me smile to myself, take a deep breath, and relax. I have tried dozens of vanilla scents, hoping to achieve this but never quite getting there. It is deep, sweet, warm gourmand done in the best way for my chemistry. I love it. 8/10

I was apprehensive about this release because I have no desire to smell like buttercream, cake icing, or any of that. To my surprise, it wasn't a screechy, sweet fragrance. This is more of a thick caramel glaze with some vanilla present as well. It smells just like I imagine the picture on the label would. I agree with the Cheirosa 71 and BBW Happy Birthday mist comparisons. So it's almost as if you're paying for one of those with more longevity. Btw, the maple note is not prominent and this does not remind me of Hot Cakes by Snif.

This smells like caramel cake. The real kind that’s made from scratch and is so dense it takes about a month for 5 people to eat. This is for the true gourmand lovers. To most it may be too sweet..almost obnoxiously so. It’s linear and a great bedtime scent. It has zero sillage and lasts about 30 min. Just long enough to get cozy under a fluffy blanket and drift off to sleep during the fall/winter. Definitely travel size worthy. I may pick up a full bottle when my travel size is done.

it smells delicious I would 100% eat it it's a very strong caramel but it doesn't make me feel light headed seeing the maple in the notes was also a big ohhhh moment I dont really have that many scent memories with maple syrup so I wouldn't have been able to guess it but it made sense not for me but for my gourmands lover friends I would totally recommend

The initial spray definitely bares resemblance to Snif's Hot Cakes, but I feel like this one has less of that maple syrup smell in comparison. If you have Snif Hot Cakes, I'd not waste your money on this. I really like the smell, but my problem is that it doesn't last at all. A really nice scent for the fall; I just wish it would last longer.

definitely SWEET, yeesh! i still really like it though. doesn't quite have that burnt quality that turned me off of sdj 71, instead i got a slightly citrus-y note from the buttercream peeking through sometimes. a friend of mine said he'd never smelled anything like it in perfume before, so take that as you will.

this perfume is definitely for the gourmand lovers. i personally really like it but the maple syrup note is extremely overpowering and if someone doesn’t like sweet food type scents they will hate this perfume, i cannot wear this around my mom without her complaining.

Deep, rich buttercream scent but doesn’t last very long. I’m happy with my travel size. There are better gourmands on the market. It’s almost an insult that companies put out mediocre products just wanting to take our money without giving anything special.

Smells very edible and realistic to the buttercream and caramel notes, thick and syrupy, but unsure if I would personally ever want to smell like a buttercream spread. Smells undoubtedly pleasant but not something I'd purchase or wish to wear.

nauseatingly sweet caramel syrup pancakes & maple with a hint of lemon zest. it's richly syrupy, and gourmand but there's nothing interesting or unique about it, and is a little sickening. smells like the glasshouse 'tahaa affair' candle.

It reminds me of something from bath and body works, although I do like the scent. I don’t like it enough to buy it, and the disappointment lies in how incredibly fast it fades and close it sits to the skin. Not worth the money imo.

This is a true gourmand with an initial powerful burst of lemony yellow cake and a powdery dry down. Imagine Bath and Bodyworks Iced Lemon Poundcake at the start and Le Monde Gourmand’s Crème brûlée on the dry down.

This smells exactly like a boba tea shop I used to work in. It's a delicious milk tea scent that I love, but not one I want to wear. It's definitely for the gourmand lovers because it's definitely SWEET.

I got very excited when I smelled this. Very pretty but lasted about 2 minutes and then I smelled nothing, so it’s a hard pass.

I got the travel size back in November. I have been on a vanilla kick for the last few months and though this def isn’t a vanilla frag, it falls in the gourmand territory and just had to try it! While there’s certainly a buttercream vibe going on, I get more of a caramel drizzle you’d see on a dessert. It’s not bad by any means, I liked it, though I thought it could have been a bit sweeter IMO, but it didn’t smell offensive or cloying by any means. The main issue with this fragrance is that you put it on and 30 mins later it’s gone. The second time around I sprayed much more generously and in more places as well. While this helped slightly, it only took me to the 1 hr mark until I was left smelling every part of my arm elbow shoulder etc, and there wasn’t a trace left. I appreciate the attempt they did in making this fragrance, and can’t speak for others from their line as some may last longer than the time it takes me to put my coat on and head out the door to run an errand near by, or take my dog on a short walk, or even just do nothing except watch a tv show, and by the time that’s over so is the scent. In the end I returned my travel size, since I only used it a few times, and that’s all I needed to decide it wasn’t worth keeping. I think they did a decent job on this, though I’d still lean that it’s more of a caramel whipped frappe than buttercream haze, but neither matters when it fades away shortly after spraying it

i haven't seen anyone mention this, but this perfume stained my skin and clothes! i did not expect it, since it does not appear very saturated in the bottle, but i was left with yellowish stains everywhere that i sprayed this perfume, and everywhere that it touched my white top. i am very pale, and it looked like i had been in a fight with the very visible bruise-like stains this perfume left. i did not spray any more than i spray with other perfumes, and i have had many perfumes that appear much darker in the bottle and leave no stains on my skin or clothes. i am not sure what's up with this, or if anyone else has experienced this too. i loved this scent when i tested it on paper, but on my skin it dries down very buttery and a bit savoury, and not in the most pleasant way. i would say it is better on clothes, but i definitely would not trust it enough to spray it on my clothes with the way it stained me today. maybe i'll spray it on my clothes when i am only wearing dark colours. i am very disappointed. i love the scent in bottle, but it has given me a lot of hassle when wearing it :(

I thought I would like this more originally so I blind bought a travel size and it was a mistake. The marketing is way off, nothing about this suggests buttercream to me it's just intensely syrupy maple syrup and when I smell it I can almost feel it coating the back of my throat it's so strong and I could just never wear this without feeling embarrassed. It dries down to something very musky in about one and a half hours and loses all its sweetness, so even if you like the scent you won't be pleased with the performance. Update: I have to be in the mood to wear this, it’s good for a bedtime perfume ig cause no worry about annoying other people and its so sweet and buttery that it can be quite cosy

I was excited about the notes in this, but it doesn't play out that way on me. The woodsy tonka reads masculine. I get vanilla but no maple. In food buttercream and caramel are rich and buttery as well as sweet, and I think the dry notes are an attempt to add that leavening to the sweetness, but on me it smells rather ashy. Despite the sweetness, I wouldn't classify this as a gourmand; the weird woody ashy notes make it something you wouldn't take a bite of. This is a more interesting perfume than a straight vanilla, and I could imagine someone really enjoying the complexity, but it's not for me. Performance is good, though.

Buttercream Haze is a comforting, indulgent, linear gourmand. The scent delivers exactly what the name suggests: whipped vanilla cream, maple syrup, and caramel..... reminiscent of butterscotch icing. Although lacking in depth or development, the fragrance is undeniably pleasant. Its sweet, edible profile makes for an excellent layering scent, adding a touch of warm, dessert nuances to other perfumes. I’ve rated this 'ok' simply because more unique gourmands exist, though the cozy dry-down would still make it a welcome gift.

i hate to say that this fragrance lacks any sort of complexity. you’d think that there’d be a lot more transformation in the scent, but on my skin it’s an almost overbearing, hyper-photorealistic buttercream scent with a hint of maple — which could be fine for some people, but it stays like that and doesn’t transform into anything for the longest time. eventually, it unexpectedly turns into this musky, tonka bean dry down. i don’t hate it, but i'm not sure how to feel about it.

I tested it out on a paper strip and I loved it so much I sprayed it on myself. It’s soooo yummy if you love gourmands, I thought it would be perfect for colder months. But after maybe 10 minutes of wear it became very sticky cloying type of sweet and I realized it was that maple note. That maple is all I get in the dry down with like a hint of vanilla. As a maple hater it’s not for me but if you’re into that get it! It’s definitely yummy in the initial spray though

Far too sweet and heavy for my taste and it's probably the most gourmand gourmand I've ever smelled. It smells like pancakes drenched in maple syrup with heaps of butter and sticky caramel on top. If I wore this, I fear I'd smell like I had spilled syrup all over myself. People who like ultra-sweet dessert perfumes and are in a cold climate might enjoy this though.

This is so sweet on me i cant wear it. It would probably be nice on someone else its delicious at first and then it goes from sugary buttercream.....to an exploding super nova bloom of hot maple syrup that makes me smell like waffle house on a summer day. Bummer I wanted it to work. I like skylars loves cake more even though its dry down is more synthetic.

This is burnt sugar on me.... It's giving Prada Candy. My husband said it smells manly. I kinda see where he is getting that from. All the influencers saying this is super sweet cake and frosting.... where? Please find the sweetness for me. I beg you. It's ok. I will layer with some sweeter scents to add a bit of maple and burnt sugar in the background.

This is a disappointment. The marketing is SO pretty and I thought it would be a very yummy scent. It's maple with a bit of lemon. And it veers more in the direction of "candle". The lasting power isn't the greatest. I really prefer EB Queen's Caramel and BGJ Chalet as far as new gourmand releases this fall.

it smells like a maple cake or maple doughnut to me. not exactly pancakes w syrup, but a baked maple pastry/sweet. not a bad scent overall, extremely sugary sweet from the strong maple scent, with not as much vanilla or buttercream as i had hoped, but still overall a bit of a different very gourmand scent.

Just tried a sample of this and at first I hated how photorealistic it was of the big box store icing on premade cakes. But the drydown is absolutely gorgeous. It's is just sweet ambery and vanillic, the tonka tames the sweetness enough. I won't buy a bottle, but I respect the scent.

warheadkitty said it best, this smells exactly like those cheap maple dessert fall candles, literally the first thing I thought when I put this on was "I swear I have a fall candle that smells just like this". It's not bad just not something I personally want to smell like.

Smells like a pastry with a strong buttery smell at first, but it gradually dissolves into the essence of a sweet delicious bakery, with notes of frosting and toasted sugar. While it’s not a bad, it’s def not for everyone. Also, the longevity is nonexistent.

i get a lot of maple in here, it’s very sol de janeiro 71. if you don’t like how gourmand that is, you won’t like this one. i personally don’t mind it, but it feels like it’ll get old quick. smells like pancakes and whipped cream

Better quality than Snif’s Hot Cakes. This still does not last long and has little projection. I’d say it’s expensive for the poor sillage and lasting power. It’s sweet for every day though. Just know what you are getting.

the maple syrup and pancake-y notes are VERY dominant here. i wouldn’t wear it because of how breakfast it smells, but i would also not be offended by someone else wearing around me during a cooler season.
