Vanilla Woods

Sweet, vanilla, caramel, warm, powdery, fruity, balsamic, rich, feminine, sensual, seductive, charming, whimsical, dreamy, delightful, alluring, tempting, addictive, inviting, cozy, comforting On me this is a rather rich sweet and syrupy pear swirled with sensual and powdery vanilla, decadent and creamy caramel, and the golden warmth of amber. Once it dries down the pear becomes a bit softer, and the vanilla, caramel, and amber, which gets more warm and balsamic, become a little more prominent. Overall, it doesn’t develop that much, but I’m ok with that as it’s such a beautiful fragrance. This fragrance really grew on me so much, and now it’s one of my favorites! I’d initially expected this to be more of a woody vanilla considering its name, so I was a bit disappointed, but always really enjoyed this. However, after adding some more lovely woody vanillas to my collection I came back to this, and was absolutely delighted! I’ve seen that quite a few people comment that this is woody and/or smoky, but I get more of a balsamic scent from the amber. So, it doesn’t come across as an overly woody or smoky vanilla to me. It is super cozy and comforting though! When I think of a smoky scent the first thing that comes to mind is Replica By the Fireplace, which I throughly enjoy! I get nothing like the smokiness there with Vanilla Woods. Also, definitely nothing at all like cigarette smoke. It’s a very easy reach I find this to be very similar to SDJ 40, and also similar to JPG La Belle. So far I only have Vanilla Woods and Coconut Sun from The 7 Virtues, and really enjoy both of them. I get decent performance with Vanilla Woods. The longevity is about 6 hours on my skin. The projection is moderate, it radiates out about an arm’s length from me. Seeing how polarizing these comments are is what makes me love fragrance! Everyone has a different experience and I find that so interesting. I've had this perfume for probably 4 years now. I got it in a sephora favorites bag, and the sample seemed to be much weaker than the actual bottle. I'd have to spray at least 5-6 times to get the scent to last. When I got the full sized bottle, I decided to wear it fort he first time on a date. So, I sprayed 5-6 times. Let me tell you - my entire drive to the date I had the windows down and was desperately trying to air myself out. The entire coffee shop smelled like my perfume. It was so overwhelming I felt like I was choking. But choking in this really incredible, delectable vanilla cloud. I'm not someone who likes to wear loud perfumes, so I was insecure about it the entire day, even though I smelled really good and received many compliments. I learned my lesson after that day, and typically spray 1-3 sprays. I'd say it's more of a winter fragrance, but I decided to reach for it today on a 106+ day in Vegas. It's not overpowering or cloying, but you can definitely smell it. My favorite time to wear this fragrance is during fall / winter, when I'm wearing a big cozy sweatshirt. The fragrance stays on my skin all day, even sometimes into the next day if I don't shower, and will stay on clothes until you wash them. VERY strong fragrance. Now, for the smell. I've never picked up on cigarettes until today. I'm known to dabble in a Southern Cut every now and then, and I can definitely see the comparison. It's sweet, smokey, but there's something that lifts it up so it's not too heavy. I'd never think there's pear or rose in this. But, it must be what keeps this from being too heavy. It's a lightly smokey vanilla on my skin. Doesn't really transform much, stays relatively linear the entire time. I say relatively since the beginning is a bit smokier than the dry down. The dry down is much more balanced. If you want a similar scent that you can wear during summer, just wear Cheirosa '40. I have both, they are essentially the exact same, but Cheriosa '40 is lighter and more vibrant.

Vanilla Woods – Revisited & Re-Loved I just revisited this after receiving it in a Sephora sampler set — and wow, my opinion has completely changed. I’ve smelled this before and honestly? I didn’t like it. At all. It didn’t click for me back then, and I moved on without a second thought. But something about smelling it now — different season, different headspace, different nose — unlocked it in a way I wasn’t expecting. This is a 20/10 for me now. I love it. On my skin, Vanilla Woods feels warm, cozy, and deeply nostalgic. The vanilla is rich but not sugary, the caramel and amber add warmth rather than sweetness overload, and there’s this soft, almost familiar comfort to it that feels like a memory more than a scent. It’s not loud or trendy — it’s grounding, intimate, and emotional in the best way. This is one of those fragrances that reminds me why revisiting perfumes matters. Our tastes change. Our associations change. Sometimes we change — and a scent that once felt wrong suddenly feels like home. My advice: If you’ve smelled this before and dismissed it, I genuinely recommend giving it another try. Noses evolve, and this one might surprise you the way it surprised me. Oh boy, I want everything of mine to smell like this. They can point me to the factory so I can bathe in this juice ASAP (in winter). The opening is bright and a little sweet. The juiciness of the pear is toned down by something a little smokier (smokiness more apparent in the winter). Soon after, it becomes the most comforting, cozy vanilla hug, but it's more of an ambiguous sweetness than obvious vanilla; boozy and dry like straight up vanilla extract. It smells like you're next to a crackling fire in the winter, and when it's worn in slightly warmer months, it's a delicious treat. I've gotten compliments saying I smelled like dessert -- note, this can cause a compliment frenzy. I'm not a heavy sprayer, but I can get two compliments a day (less impressive put this way, but it's huge to me); compliments aren't everything, but it's nice to know you smell delicious :D. Edit: Just tried this on clean, post-shower skin this week. It lasts much longer that way. Also, I find that you cannot let this touch sweat at all (accidentally got this on my palms), otherwise it turns into that pungent salty subway smell. Therefore, my final conclusion: this is the most perfect fall/winter signature. It works in the springtime too, if your spring is anything like the Pacific Northwest! You can pry my bottle and my backup out of my cold, dead, sweatless hands.

When 7V first released this years ago, the #1 selling point they (Barb) would always use was the fact that this contained ONLY fair trade organic madagascar vanilla and NOTHING else- no pear or rose ketones, nothing but vanilla oil and ofc perfumers and/or sugarcane alcohol. Certain vanillas can come off as "honeyed" or fruity and this may be the case here (it is with 7Vs Afghani neroli, which is very honeyed to the point you'd think honey was actually present) This was way back when the bottles and logo were different. Whether they did end up changing the formulation or not later on I'm not sure, tho i do suspect they did at some point, as its not as "deep" or as long lasting as the original VW was. Do not trust notes for the most part, its a clever marketing tool and has been proven if you read "notes" before sampling a fragrance there's an expectation already built based on that (your brain says Pear? "oh yeah, nowwww I smell pear") Still enjoy this one alot but wish it was the eternal og version

Testing this as a decant splash. This opens so deliciously; a luxurious balance of sandalwood, amber, caramel, and vanilla. There’s a subtle little sparkle in the top, which I can only assume is the pear, and it lifts the sweetness just enough. I don’t detect the rose at all on my skin. It’s sweet but grounded, sophisticated yet feminine. Every now and then I get a warm, spiced whiff that reminds me of a cinnamon-apple ginger candy I love, which makes absolutely no sense given the notes, but it’s there in the background and it’s charming. The overall impression is warm, comforting, and slightly bright — feminine, flirty, and perfectly balanced between cozy and polished. I can see this being especially beautiful in the colder months, when those glowing amber-vanilla tones really shine.

This perfume feels soft and I don’t know if that makes any sense, but I mean it in a good way. Like laying on a cloud wrapped in a blanket of your most comforting memories. I primarily get notes of vanilla, pear, and caramel here. Not so much the rose, though I’m sure it’s playing a part. The big draw for me is that it smells like my mama’s sweet potato casserole that she makes at Thanksgiving. Warm sweet potato and vanilla topped with brown sugar toasted pecans. A safe gourmand for those who don’t normally reach for those. Also a safe blind buy in my opinion.The sillage isn’t crazy - it stays close to the skin, but projects just enough for me to smell it throughout my day, which is good with me. Overall a lovely fragrance.

This perfume is gorgeous for me personally. On my skin it is a warm authentic vanilla smell! It’s not woody in the way I thought it would be, maybe I was expecting like a sandalwood I don’t know, but it’s more reminiscent of a vanilla bean pod. I really love this I am not a fan of sugary sweet perfumes but Vanilla Woods has a beautiful naturalness about it that makes me feel feminine in all the right ways. I don’t get a very strong rose note but that pear really gives a interesting freshness that makes the perfume wearable during warmer temperatures even though its more of an autumn vibe Best to test this one on your skin and I would not say that it’s a safe blind buy

cloying vanilla, but i like overly sweet scents! the tobacco note is polarising- i like the smokiness personally, but some of my friends really hate it. i detect neither pear nor rose from this one tbh; but there is a sweet caramel amber in there :) i will mention that if oversprayed it tends to give me a migraine, especially in summer, so it's a fall/winter fragrance only imo! ETA: i wanted to mention that the 10mL travel size of 7 virtues' perfume is known to have evaporation issues. i lost 2/3rds of mine to evaporation over 1 year because the lid is not affixed correctly and will leak. consider moving this fragrance into a different container!!!

I bought this I think 3 years ago more or less. I hated it so much. It smelled like a flavor for vape or something, it was weirdly smoky. Got rid of it instantly. 3 years later for some reason I decided to try it again. I love it. Wtf? I love ittttttt LMAO. I love the smoky touch, I love the pear note, I love how sweet it is. Wish it was a bit more woody, but it's definitely gorgeous. I think back then I only had like 5 perfumes so I wasn't really open minded. Now I have owned 200 perfumes (99% vanillas) and currently own 50 (also 99% vanillas), so it's another version of myself and I can truly appreciate a complex perfume

I think this is a perfume that really depends on your body chemistry and how it interacts with your skin. I see in the reviews here that a lot of people dislike Vanilla Woods but for me it's one of my absolute favorites. It was my signature scent for a few years (and probably will be again in the future), and I always get compliments when I wear it. On me it's very vanilla forward, like vanilla bean ice cream with canned pears. But then I also get hints of tobacco somehow, like you're eating that vanilla ice cream next to your boyfriend who smells like cigarettes. Altogether it's very sweet, comforting, and a little sexy.

Absolutely OBSESSED with this perfume right now. The pear note on top is sparkling, effervescent. It lingers somehow, and keeps a beautiful tartness through the full life of the perfume. I've found it lingers nicely on clothing, while the skin scent develops into a bit more of the vanillic, woody amber base. It's flirty, polished, and just damn delicious. I can't stop smelling myself when I wear it and it develops so so beautifully throughout the day. Don't expect gooey sweet gourmand in the way of baked goods. It's a cool vanilla - icy like a vanilla pear sorbet eaten from a fragrant wooden bowl in the middle of winter.

This is lovely - it has a very strong resemblance to Silky Woods - unless you have them right next to each, you could easily mistake one for the other. I don't see the resemblance to SDJ 40 - that has a screechy, tart plum note whereas this is very smooth. Love it - not sure it's as powerful and long-lasting as Silky woods, but it's MUCH more affordable. I've heard some people get the smell of cigarette smoke and lots of smokiness, but I don't get a lot of that. That said, the dry down on me smells like raw beetroot, so I will be paying extra and getting Silky Woods instead.

This is my perfect powdery vanilla. The rose and pear opening make it smell so clean and fresh, then it dries down more woody and sweet. Smells mature, sofisticated and elegant, it's not gourmand at all (sooo tired of every vanilla out there smelling like a dessert). I understand why people criticize the name, it's not a very woody or smoky vanilla, if that's what you're expecting than you will be disappointed. Actually reminds me a lot of True Vanilla from Library of Flowers, that handcream was my favorite scent for a long time!

This is a bit of a strange one, but I adore it! Smells like a pack of very sweet cigarettes your rich auntie would keep in the bottom of her Coach bag, like a Marlboro Southern Cut! Smoky, amber-y, woody vanilla goodness, with an odd nostalgia to it. Definitely more fall/winter, but light enough for daytime! Decent longevity and sillage, not good nor bad. Spraying from a tester, but the bottle is pretty but plain. Not what I was expecting, and definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm impressed! 8/10!

This is a very light and very sweet vanilla. Honestly it's the only vanilla that haven't been too gourmand heavy for me (for reference I love light floral and green scents). It feels a bit linear and doesn't really evolve that much (unlike Diptiques Eau Duelle that becomes this really true almost dryish bitter vanilla), but I could imagine this as a crowd pleaser. Easy scent. So to sum up; this is definitely pretty safe if you wanna try vanillas but don't want to smell like a true frosted cake.

I've always really enjoyed the 7 Virtues fragrance catalogue, but Vanilla Woods particularly stands out. This perfume is a beautiful blend of vanilla, amber and a cigarette-esque touch that may scare some off. Despite this, I really enjoy this perfume and I'm proud to say I own a lot of it and have adopted it as my signature scent. In my eyes, this is a wonderful perfume perfect for many occasions. They always seem to impress me.

This is one of my all-time favorites! I'm almost tempted to call it my signature scent. This fragrance smells like a pure, warm vanilla on me, with the subtlest hints of caramel and pear. I don't really pick up the rose note, but that's okay in this case. This smells like a realistic, delicious dessert without being overly sweet. I recently wore this on a business trip and a few of my coworkers even complimented this fragrance.

SO YUMMY. such a good all year rounder i feel. its not heavy or sticky enough to make u strangle someone for wearing it in humid weather. to describe this perfume, it has a light smoky quality from the caramel and the pear note lasts throughout the entire wear which mellows out that smokey “edginess.” if you’ve smelled La Danza delle Libellule before, this is quite reminiscent of that just without the apple-cinnamon pairing.

This was the first perfume that made me understand what people are talking about when they say that fragrance is an art. Now I finally get it. This scent just speaks to me. It's beautiful. It's layered. It's complex. It's fantastic. It's very gourmand up close. But throughout the day you'll get the same whiffs off yourself as you would if you'd say in front of a campfire for hours earlier in the day. It's very nice.

I don't get pear, I don't get rose, I don't get woods and I don't get smoke. What I get is a lovely sweet caramel-vanilla that's very close to Mercedes-Benz Club Black. It's so close that I'm having a hard time justifying owning both! But I love them both. What's making me consider a FB of this one is the longevity -- I tried my sample last night, and it's still there this morning, so impressive for a sweet vanilla!

The most beautiful pear & vanilla scent that dries down into a sweet and comforting caramel. The pear gives it a light & sweet opening, which soon develops into a creamy vanilla and caramel scent. 10/10 in my book. I really don’t get those that think this smells like cigarettes. There’s nothing smoky or stale about it. I guess it comes down to individual skin chemistry, so try before you buy.

I immediately loved this, then I saw what it’s most similar to and it’s SDJ 40. Which I already own the big bottle of. Makes sense. It’s incredibly similar so I wouldn’t purchase Vanilla Woods to avoid too much similarities in my collection. Very fruity, but I don’t smell the caramel dry down in this, but the fruitiness goes away after a while. Pretty long lasting too!

This, to me, is one of the most unique and delicious scents ever. The sweet and slightly smokey note together, combined with the fruityness of the pear really makes the most interesting and addictive combo. I will say, this on me unfortunately doesn't last that long, but it's still my favorite, because of how special it is. I can never get sick of it

LOVE! My favourite vanilla scent, nice gourmand fragrance with added slightly smoking woody edge. This pulls so beautiful on my skin, not too much vanilla and not too much smokiness/warmth; I have seen other people say this smells like an ashtray on them so maybe sample first before buying the full size. I would 100% recommended.

This fragrance is well named: Vanilla Woods. Very vanilla but you can still feel the wood in this fragrance. My nose doesn't detect the caramel in the dry down. Could be worn by most people. I often wore it at the office during the fall and winter season. Its not a "wow" perfume but its a nice smell.

I’ve had this sample for a minute, and couldn’t appreciate it properly until I recently smelled this on a friend. Just divine. So versatile, great layering ability, could be a year-round evening fragrance. The woodiness stays close to the skin while the sweetness projects and permeates.

This is such a strong pear on me! When I tried it in Sephora I couldn't understand how it wasn't called "Carmel Pear" 😅 I get no woods and vanilla is only present in the background. It is VERY sweet. It projects well and lasts forever. Which I have found with most 7 Virtues fragrances.

Smells good! Love the way it smells a tad bit citrus. (Maybe lemon) it has a strong vanilla note that overpowers the rest of the notes and stands out. Love it and the longevity is pretty good. Got a 10 ml sample. Its full bottle worthy and a safe blind buy imo.

A very classic vanilla!! I'm glad I don't get any of the caramel notes because I like it better without them. It's not too sweet and slightly woody, which is exactly what I look for. I also find it lasts pretty long on me and especially on my clothes

This is a beautiful, comforting, and cozy vanilla fragrance with a touch of pear. It’s great for layering, but it also works beautifully on its own. I love that it’s made from ethically sourced, natural ingredients.

I have to step up for this one, it's a long beloved scent of mine and my go-to vanilla. I always get compliments, it makes me feel like a luxurious dessert after a shower and best of all it makes me smile!

I smelled it again and I can say it smells like a Pear cooked in dark bitter caramel with vanilla and someone just lit a candle and you have that wiff of the warmth from a firey wick tingling your nose.

not loud, not extraordinary, just simple, sweet and nice. it has soft touch on the skin so if you get headaches with strong perfumes, give a chance this pretty perfume. only con is longevity of it.

I adore this. Although the name is misleading, it still smells amazing. To my nose it smells like vanilla pipe tobacco without the smokiness. Very cozy and familiar.

Veryy similar to cheirosa 40 at first, but much better longevity. Over time, there's this lovely pear note coming out that Cheirosa doesn't have!

Woody vanilla, salty caramel scent, reminds me of kettle corn, but more musky. So wonderful. I bought a second bottle, which I have never done!

As a fan of By The Fireplace and ELDO's Jasmin et Cigarette, I love the slight smokiness of this. A gorgeous scent.

This is my favorite straight vanilla. Perfect for layering with anything and it will always be a staple for me.

I'm loving this perfume. It's an easy reach and always appropriate. It's simply GOOD.

I noted on the ingredients list for this on The 7 Virtues website that the only fragrance ingredient in this is Vanilla Planifolia (botanical), and I wrote to the company to confirm that this was actually true. Immediately someone wrote back to me, "The ingredients list you’ve referenced is complete. Vanilla Woods consists of Organic Sugar Cane Alcohol (denatured so humans don’t drink it), Vanilla Planifolia, and Water. Vanilla as an ingredient doesn’t get along with others so it’s often alone like this. A fragrance notes list should not be taken as an ingredients list as it is simply an interpretation by our brains of how the scent is recorded by our scent receptors. Our Vanilla oil has notes of pear, caramel, and rose for example." So this reminds me of how Granny in the Beverly Hillbillies would advise just dabbing a bit of "vanilly extract" behind the ears as a perfume. Maybe she had a point! I kind of do think that (like a fine wine) this scent does have a lot of additional sensory notes other than those typically associated with the ingredient that it is made out of and rather like wearing it. I guess that if people find it too simple, they could layer it with another product from The 7 Virtues line as the company suggests doing, but I have not found that to improve the fragrance at all and after reading the comment from the company representative, I can see why.

This is a nice vanilla perfume, with enough going on to be interesting, but still distinctly a gourmand. I like it, but it's got some strange notes that clearly read differently to different people. Over time: Initially, boy does this smell sweet. Not syrupy or sickly, but like just-baked angel food cake. It smells like vanilla and sugar; if there's pear, I'm not detecting it independent of the sweetness. At ten minutes it still smells like confectionary, but there's also a subtle soapy-smoky note that catches in the back of my throat, not warm like wood smoke but dry like a cigarette. It's very faint. At 20 minutes it deepens into caramel, becoming more rich, and the soapy-smoke has resolved. At an hour it's pleasantly caramel and amber, with a bit of powderiness. (I should note that my wife picked up on the powdery note well before this.) After a couple of hours it smells like warm caramel to me, although there's something in the background that's almost acrid.

The world doesn’t need more vanilla based perfumes, it needs better. Does Vanilla Woods qualify? Let me back up and say that I love vanilla, like a guilty pleasure I hate to admit. Mostly I consider vanilla a beginner note, but there are challenging notes I can’t handle and I need vanilla sometimes to temper it. Synthetic oud for example.... if that note is mixed with a quality vanilla, I can wear it. So back to Vanilla Woods. What makes this composition different is the addition of the pear note. It adds this fizzy quality to the overall composition. Then next comes the vanilla, amber and wood notes....creating an overall, natural smelling scent. Vanilla Woods smells more expensive than its retail price. At this time I have other vanilla scents that I’m pining over, so it has to be a love for me to pull the trigger. I would not pass up a good deal though. If you like vanilla with a pear twist, this should be on your try list.

I'm a bit torn on this perfume. In some ways, I really like it. I wore it everyday for like three months and I enjoyed that. The problem, however, is the opening. It starts out smelling exactly like a secret smoker who just doused themself in vanilla perfume to hide their vice. It's very intense and much too strong for me. I have to spray it a good hour before I plan on going anywhere because I smell so overwhelmingly like smokey vanilla. Once the initial intensity passes, the dry-down is very nice. Its still got a smokey, spicy essence, but that fades down and the warm, sweet, caramel vanilla shines through. It's such a winter scent. Snow on the ground, bundled in a scarf and a big coat and a hat, your skin smelling warm while your breath freezes in the air. Its quite beautiful, very sweet and enveloping. I can't smell any of the pear or rose on my skin. This perfume is all vanilla and caramel with a warm amber base.

This is a very light, airy vanilla that’s fresh enough for warmer days and isn't a typical gourmand. Upon the first spray, it’s soft and rounded: probably thanks to the pear, which isn't super distinguishable but prevents the scent from becoming cloying. I get a slight sugariness from the caramel, but again, it’s not very prominent. Once the heart develops, the vanilla becomes slightly more rich. It has a really nice spice to it, smelling like true vanilla extract rather than something artificial, which I LOVE. There is a tinge of amber coming through as well, adding a nice solar element. I can’t quite pinpoint the rose, but I think it provides the structure needed to keep the perfume from becoming too syrupy. The dry down is a very lovely: ambery and sweet. Overall, this is a classic vanilla and a nice 'basic' staple for any collection: would be excellent for layering or wearing on its own during summertime!

Where is the wood in this hahaha? I really though there's going to be a woody note, based off the name, but it's just straight up caramel and vanilla. I can't really smell the pear, was hoping that could give it a bit of fruitiness, and the rose, even if it's there, seems to be owerpowered by the sweet notes. Don't get me wrong, I do like this, if you want something sweet that's simple, linear and has decent performance, this will be perfect for you. I would say it's better for the colder season, if I sprayed this on a hot day it would make me feel naseous I think. I see the similarity with SDJ Cheirosa 40, which is one of my favourites from the brand, but it's even more sweet, and to be honest I like the body mist better but these two could be a good layering pair, to make the mist last longer. This would pair well with many other sweet perfumes or mists for that matter.
