British Rose

I've been using this EDT close to two years now, and am on my second bottle. This is the perfect rose soliflore for me as it is not powdery. I find the scent uplifting. It sits close to the skin. If you're like me, - thinking fragrances as something to be "discovered" on someone - you will be able to appreciate an EDT such as this one. Not very long lasting, no monstrous sillage - making it suitable for day-to-day living. My significant other loves this on me. P. S. I also have another perfume from TBS (Fijian Water Lotus, has a rose middle note but not primarily rose-smelling) that is more suitable for work and formal occasions because it has better longevity and sillage. UPDATE 27 JULY 2019: Today morning I sprayed the EDT around my neck/decolletage area very generously. About seven hours later, I could still catch whiffs of the scent emanating from said area. Plus, I found that the citrus note of this EDT made my mouth water! I think it's a mandarin note!

What a beautiful surprise! I have been on the hunt for a fresh, clean and pretty rose perfume and what a struggle it has been. Everything I had tried was too sweet, powdery or heavy. And most rose perfumes seem to turn sour on my skin. So it has been tough! The only one that I have been reasonably happy with is Florabotanica but that is even sometimes too much. I had given up but this caught my and eye and gave it a test without expecting much. I was taken back by how fresh and realistic it was. A bit green but that's the way I like it. Prevents it from becoming sickly I find. I didn't want to get my hopes up so I let it settle to see if the usual sourness appeared. But no it remained a clean and pretty. Perfect for year round use, any time of the day. Just like a breeze carrying the scent of beautiful fresh roses. In the dry down I detect hints of Coco Mademoiselle. Such a delightful find!

THIS is what a rose perfume should smell like, it's very pretty, subtle, extremely natural smelling (not at all synthetic like so many I have tried so hard to find in a rose fragrance). It is lovely on its own but can so easily be layered with a multitude of scents since it is so natural and "quiet" with a very flirty sexiness to it. LOVE it and I'm not even a big floral scent person but with it being a TRUE rose aroma, it's really quite gorgeous! Just a personal note/opinion: I'm not much of a lavender fan and I know many love to spritz their pillows with it to achieve a relaxing, calming feel. This is a beautiful substitute for me (and others who may not like lavender too much). It gives off such a pleasant, enticing and definitely a candlelight mood setting environment, for the perfect added touch of a sensual setting. ☺

TBS British Rose EDT is a very light and airy scent. It is for those who like skin scents because it sits close to the body. Those who like roses will surely like it, and those who don't like roses will also like it because it is not that strong, sweet, heady rose. It is a light, fresh rose scent. It reminds me of freshly cut roses with the morning dew droplets still on the petals. Because it is so light, you could wear it to school, college, office, and any closed spaces without annoying those next to you. I have gotten so many compliments on this fragrance, mostly from those who are not a fan of rose fragrances. When I tell them it is a rose perfume, they are always taken aback! Those who come close to you will surely get a whiff of the fresh green rose.

A beautiful fresh, wet, musc rose, it's delicious, bright, and on the same trajectory of Paul Smith "Rose", Diptique "Eau Rose" and Juliette Has a Gun "Lady Vengeance". If you adore pillows of fresh sparkling musc roses, this is a real gem - it's just gorgeous. When you use the really thick almost solid body butter in the same British Rose range, then follow with the British Rose perfume, this will last for at least 5 hours. I've used the British Rose body butter as a base for Frederic Malle "Portrait of A Lady", Delina Exclusive by PDM and Diptique "Eau Rose" - it is the perfect carrier for these as well, the rose becomes even more intoxicating and sumptuous.

I cannot wear heavily rose scented perfumes but I love the scent of rose. This is perfect for me. A light rose water scent. I wear this over my Plum body Yogurt I got from The Body Shop as well and they smell amazing together. I use three sprays and get about 5 hours of wear before it completely disappears. Longevity (3 sprays) : 5 hours Sillage: close to the skin Recommend: Yes, very light rose scent for those that cannot tolerate a stronger rose note. Repurchase: Most definitely. Don't think I ever want this to not be in my perfume collection.

I love it! If you love flowers, roses in particular, you will love this scent. The bottle featured on this page is outdated, I think. Anyways, if you want to smell like a rose, this is the scent for you. I'm not entirely sure if there's any other notes in the current Body Shop British Rose EDT, but all I smell is rose, and that's all I wanted. The only downside is that it doesn't last that long. Two hours, tops. But I'm very happy with this scent. And it doesn't break the bank, heh.

Bought a set of body wash, body butter and edt right before our holiday to Istanbul exactly a year ago to celebrate my birthday. It was wet cold winter, but under my winter coat i still could smell this beautiful rose scent. Green, sweet and classic. Whenever i smell this, it transport me back to wet cold Istanbul February 2019, with Turkish coffee, cream cheese simit, historical sites and beautiful museums. It’s just amazing, a scent could brings back your memories.

I REALLY love this fragrance. It is so fresh, so nice, not overwhelming and really easy to wear. I like to use it before the gym, before bed at night or somewhere where I don't want to wear a fragrance bomb. On me, it lasts about 4 hours and then after that, I can still smell it but only very lightly. If I spray it on my clothes it lasts for days. I always get so many compliments when I wear this fragrance. It's a big thumbs up from me.

The Body Shop's 'Moroccan Rose' was the first fragrance I bought with my own money. I loved it so much! It is no longer available and I miss having it. 'British Rose' helped somewhat fill that gap left by 'Moroccan Rose'. It is kind of hard to find rose fragrances which actually smell like fresh roses and this one does. I still miss 'Moroccan Rose' but having this one in its place helps.

A delightfuly light scent, British Rose is perfectly peppery, soapy, sweet. There's definitely more than just rose going on here. Though the scent is largely linear, it's not exactly one note. I get bergamot and hibiscus at the opening and something like sea salt is there too, something crystalline. Poor longevity and silage unfortunately. This is a fragrance to wear to the office.

This is the kind of rose scent I've been waiting for for a very long time. I like it better than the Atlas Mountain Rose. It reminds me so much of a fresh, dewy bouquet of roses. No frills and additives, just pure rose. Longevity could be better, but will always leave a faint hint of the scent on my skin even by the end of the day. Lasts 3 hours on me.

A bottle of this made me discover my love for rose-scented fragrance I don't like heavy nor girly perfumes, but this EDT is lighter and more easy-going kind of rose. If regular EDP roses are too intense or sophisticated for you, you might want to try it out. Nothing original, though. Almost zero sillage and stays 2.5 hours on your skin.

Smells like roses. It's perfect if that's what you're looking for. It's that perfect rosewater type scent that is the epitome of the scent of roses. Perfection. For like an hour. It's an hour of perfection. Good thing it's inexpensive! Definitely a favourite of mine. The hand cream is devine as well.

A pretty rose fragrance, smells like a fresh and dewy David Austin pink rose after the rain. Very British rose scent. Increase the longevity by layering it over the body butter. If they had only made a dusting powder to lock in and enhance the longevity of this beautiful fragrance.

My favorite perfume..too bad it's only edt. However, it's pretty long lasting and I can wear it a whole day at work and still can smell it on my blouse after washing it. The smell itself is just clean rosy scent which is so fresh that really cheers up my day.

The body butter is currently all I have in this collection...but let me say that it is perfection!!! Rose along with citrus and peach to create a bubbly, fresh, addicting scent! I must get the actual edt now! I am head over heels in love!!!!!

I miss this scent so much. I used to own a bottle and need to repurchase. One of the best rose fragrances out there; a very fresh, juicy rose. Ultra femme, not headache-inducing at all for me. Love love love!!! 10/10

This is how I like my rose perfume: only rose, nothing added. This is a very realistic, natural, beautiful rose perfume. I have the whole set and I especially love the body butter!

Beautiful fresh watery pink roses. This bears strong resemblance to Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet edt. A delicate, feminine and energetic sillage. Highly recommend and so underrated.

Smells similar to this bath salt I used to have and I used to absolutely love the scent! Not the same but similar enough :) Just a very fresh/clean kind of rosy scent!

I smelled VERY bright citrus intermingling with fresh rose til the end, and not sure why it does not listed here in fragrantica ;)

This is more than simply rose, I just need to work out what else!. A freshness is there, crispness.

1 year update 10/2023: this has grown on me considerably since my initial review. It's my go-to "I don't want to wear perfume" perfume when I've grown tired of all remotely heavy fragrances and crave a scent that's refreshing, linear, light, crisp, unsweet but pretty. I'm sure there are higher quality, longer lasting comparable scents, but this does the job fine and I don't feel guilty about spraying it often. I appreciate the almost body mist quality it has. ––––– I have the new reformulated vegan version of this EDT, bought in September 2022. It's a super fresh rose, very clean smelling like something you would want to spray on right after a shower. It's nice but does smell pretty synthetic and kind of, well, cheap... but it is cheap, so that's ok with me. I adore rose and florals so I don't mind it, but if you aren't a fan of those notes you may find it a little too fresh smelling. It doesn't last more than 2 hours tops with two sprays. I have the matching body butter which smells much more interesting - a waxy rose, a bit of something plastic smelling in there which I really like and haven't smelled anything like before. It took a little getting used to but now I'm very fond of it and will keep repurchasing. I won't repurchase the EDT though.

This is a nice basic green rose. It does smell like the flower itself, so natural and green and demure. Believe me it is exactly the scent of a rose in the garden. But there is nothing more but rose. I like it. The bottle is simple and elegant. However the perfume has really poor silage and is gone in 2 minutes. One needs to keep re-applying. I did catch a faint hint of the fragrance on my clothes the next day but that was me squirting the perfume at least 6-7 times. I will use it up fairly quickly but wouldn't repurchase. I wish it had the body and life of the sadly discontinued Moroccan Rose that cost 8 British pounds. I had a lot of respect for body shop until I read the label and found most of their skin care is loaded with Alcohol ,Silicones and sulphates. I had just hoped for a bit more from their fragrance.

Like Very good, lasted well, far more than the usual body shop offerings I usually have s rose bottle from the body shop on rotation, somewhere. I would buy This and the black musk lasted well, the others in the women's range are like a fart in the wind. No, I'm being mean, um, the general range IMO are layering or for mixing, but if you have ofther perfumes use them up. TBS range are more inexpensive so that's good, this rose one is a goodie, this is a summer test though, in winter it might only last an hour- but I'm guessing there, so go try and make your own mind up. Oh, it's not far off the rose perfumes that l'occitane provide.

Great composite rendering of a fresh, young dewy rose. It is mild yet crisp and manages to capture the airy aroma of a rose. I like that it is not herbal green yet has a hint of the fresh citrus that a primrose would have. It is not long lasting, but it does last a bit longer in warmer weather. The body butter is wonderful and elevates the liquid fragrance. I love that it is not cloying and that it smells nice on clothes and scarves. It plays well with the other fragrances containing rose that I have combined so far. This is a solid neoclassical repeat buy. Thanks, TBS!

When this is layered with some of the other products (hand creme or body butters) it has mediocre lasting power. I agree that it's insanely light, although it's been some time since I've tried the spray. I do have the butter, so I'm considering it an "I have it" fragrance, because I feel that the moisturizers have more longevity than the actual spray does! It's almost of a one-note wonder, but it's pretty. There is a light citrus note in the opening. This isn't as much of a true rose as Tea Rose, but it's distinctly rose with some sweet freshness.

The verdict: lovely as a layering fragrance. I bought this on a whim when I was in my The Body Shop phase (does such a thing even exist?), and quickly dismissed it as smelling like room spray. Fast forward 2 years and I just realized my bottle is almost halfway through, which is rare since I'm a conservative sprayer. It's whimsically cheap on top of "Black Musk" from the same brand; whereas in combination with a bootleg Arabic "By the Fireplace" it manages to remind me of Montale's "Aoud Purple Rose". Delightful either way.

This one was unexpected. On Boxing Day, while trying to grab some bargains at The Body Shop, I decided to test one of their fragrances. British Rose turned out to be a very pleasant surprise, as I was expecting something closer to a simple body mist. Instead, it’s a lovely, fresh, light, feminine rose blended with peony, peach, and soft musk. he only downside are the longevity and silage (weak/intimate), but despite that, it’s a very pretty fragrance.

very good quality soliflore, on me it's fresh and green: like a freshly cut rose still with the green stem. surprisingly long-lasting on my skin, given that it is a body-shop EDT. I find it very handy for layering too. Just now layered it with a local amber body mist (not listed here) it's haven, smells super expensive, warm, and comforting. I like comfortable and wearable scent for everyday use. And this is it.

I know a lot of people hate rose smells for some reason but I like this. It is feminine and you smell like a rose garden at a palace or manor. Maybe a little too much rose I can agree but what do you expect when it is the whole point of the scent? Maybe a little too much of an old lady scent for me but it is still ok. I could wear it with a pretty white dress during like the summer but not on a everyday basis.

Nice fresh rose scent, but very weak and with poor longevity. You would need to reapply very often. Perfect for people who like light,fresh, barely there scents. It's the equivalent of no makeup makeup. Like your smell but better. It is super nuce but I do regret buying it, as I don't feel the quality is there to justify the GBP20 price. More like GBP5 to be honest.

It smells a bit more green than I was anticipating and less like rose specifically. It's a nice scent. Longevity was not terrible considering it's a body mist. Probably best for spring or the warmer months. It's not a love, but I'm happy with my purchase. It will be a good everyday sort of scent. Casual but still put together and fresh.

Another peony rose when I was hoping it was a rose soliflore. Nice though, very fresh, and the sillage is good on me. Am glad it doesn't have the big, synthetic musk base that Atlas Mountain Rose has. Fairly long-lasting for a Body Shop EDT, I get several hours out of it. Prefer the bath and body products in this range.

I do enjoy wearing British rose! It is an eau de toilette, so longevity is a bit lacking, but if you are a rose lover I believe it is one of the closest perfumes to the genuine product. It is very gentle but not too sweet, probably smells more like a rose bud than a proper blooming flower.

This was my summer 2022 perfume and smelling the empty bottle just reminds me of one of the best times in my life.😍🤩🫠 very nostalgic. Per se it’s nothing special tho, sweet and fresh rose with a little bit of citrus. Perfect for summer. Girly. Boys love it ;) doesn’t last long tho

a sweet, deep rose scent. not much else to it, its very linear as are a lot of body shop fragrances. linear doesnt mean bad however, and the lack of depth doesnt stop this edt from being one of the most pleasant and comforting i own, even if i dont wear it too often these days

A lovely light rose fragrance. It's too sweet to directly remind me of any particular rose, but it's pretty and rosy nonetheless. Feels like a body spray more than an edt, but if sweet rose is what you love then it's certainly worth the low price.

I like this fragrance because it compliments the scent of Marlboro Lights quite beautifully. More of a watery rose scent rather than powdery, great for layering or wearing by itself when you're not in the mood for a PERFUME perfume iykwim.

This smells like light fresh rosewater and it's exactly what I imagine when I think of rose scented perfumes. Pleasant and beautiful. Not a fan of its poor longevity though, but that is to be expected from all perfumes from The Body Shop.

Smells just like fresh watery, rained on roses. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want an affordable, linear rose fragrance this is the best option in my opinion, it’s fresh, mature and feminine🌹

a very gentle floral and bergamot scent, its super light and feminine, and is slightly soapy. i find most floral scents to be very grandma-esque but to me, this one really beautiful and fresh!!

British Rose is a delightful fresh and balmy rose scent with a touch of citruses and hint of green, mildly honey sweet. I love this as much as I love Moringa and Vanilla Chai.

This is my favourite rose scent in a fragrance. Smells like a fresh rose with some citrus. Only downside is that it doesn't last long at all

very floral, I personally would combine it with something, but it’s a very nice pure rose on its own. almost a sterile smelling floral tho.

Beautiful rose water scent, enjoyed by those that aren’t even rose fans. No lasting power. I really enjoy the edt and the glow body lotion

Very nice and elegant rose here. Longevity is moderate so that's good. Reminds me of Ralph Lauren romance, but it isn't a copy.

I use it a few weeks ago. Very girlish, romantic rose scent, gentle and soft with a little sweet accord. Poor longevity...
