Dewberry Perfume Oil

2026 formulation: Still a happy gem. Close to the original. Lushly fruity like if passionfruit had a berry cousin. Softer, gentler and fresher than the vintage. (Not a Beast Mode!) Fades within 30 min to a skin scent. I highly suggest layering it with one of their Dewberry Balm/Butter/Yogurt. More Raspberry, Rosehip and Blackberry are present in this one. Slightly greener top notes than the prior formulations. Eucalyptus hints. Light fresh lemon side note instead of grapefruit. Lily, Freesia, Jasmine come through more in the topnotes. I think it's lovely. It is missing the cocoa butter/vanilla, deeper aspects to the cassis and the more syrupy overripe, almost tropical grapefruit citrus, fruity, peachy accords, but I can live with that. We live in the time of scent-free-offices. The Fragrance Mist is much greener in topnotes, and has a herbal profile unless you use several spritzes to reach an unfolding berry note. The Hand Balm is purer in its Berry accords, but posesses a tomato leaf accord. It layers well with the Perfume Oil.

I made my final bottle last as long as I could up until a couple of years ago. Why oh why does any scent I love get canned? What was not to like about Dewberry: a teenager could buy it with their pocket money, you could refill your bottle and the oil's scent lasted forever on your pulse points. Those rose and grapefruit layers with the berry top note really did it for me. I was a mid-90s teen and Dewberry was totally My Thing in school and college :))) I can't understand why the Body Shop won't sell it on a regular basis like White Musk. There are a lot of us Dewberry ride-or-die fans out there.

Can’t believe it’s back when got email last week, ordered yesterday morning patiently waiting on delivery. Had so many bottles of this late 89, early 90,s checked this forum so many times bought the jubilee scents version which is really close as i remember. Only a matter of days to see, which they would bring back oceanus as it was lovely too and bit like my original favourite New West by Aramis all we need is this brought back and I’d stop searching 🤞

Omg, sooo nostalgic! If I smelled this right now, I would just dissolve into a sugary puddle of pure nostalgia for 1994. I was 13 and completely in love with a guy called Dean, two years my senior, barely knew I existed, haha! It would for sure remind me of him and walking back from school with my pal Sam on hot summer afternoons. It was actually a pretty divine scent.

Used it a lot when it existed a spray edt, then the shop moved, I moved, and we parted way. Got a lot of compliments when I was wearing it, from very unexpected people, may be because it was smelling so edible ;-) I have an old bottle at my mum's place, that did not move with me, and sometime still use it, just for old times sake. And still like it.

I used to move dewberry in my early youth.. so fresh, berry/ fruity and cosy at the same time. 80` s bodyshop really intriguiged me. I was addicted for sure. Now I use pink molecule from Zarko Perfumes as a beautiful replacemant. Dewberry I love all the memories I recall when I think of you. A nostalgic love from me to you

I used this as a home fragrance. I'd put droplets all around the house and just loved the sweet scent wafting elegantly everywhere. I find it fresh, sweet, clean and classic. I've never used it on myself though. I'm not into sweeter scents on my skin but who knows? I might just give it a try!

lets face it! this is a powerful gem that demands a comeback! I want it back! As a collector in my mid 40s I dont need to go over the olfactory memories that this juice summons. Please if you want it back send bodyshop a email...I have started a campian!

Oh wow, Dewberry, what a memory from my high school days... So sweet, young, fruity, though very different than other fruity fragrances. Now I can ́t find it anywhere! But if I did find it, I guess I wouldn ́t love/wear it as much as I used to...

On the initial spray you get that fun loving aroma us teenagers back in the 90s are all too familiar with. I wish the blackcurrant was a middle note and would last longer on the dry down.

I'm not too sophisticated to say I loved it all those years ago and would probably still proudly wear it should the Body Shop ever bring it back!

The shower gel and perfume oil are still good. Really nostalgic scent, my favorite from the 90ties.

THE BODY SHOP PERFUME OIL BAR - WHY , OH WHY DID THEY DO AWAY WITH IT !! Quoting "elderflowers" - " Dewberry is still bottled teenage kicks for me. Now that it looks like being canned permanently, I'm getting a niggling desire to own a final few ml of the stuff – just in case I ever need to trigger a few memory episodes for my own Proustian life-history." I quite agree! Like most of us on this page , i wore this oil circa 1987 - 1992. I recall great excitement when TBS first opened up , the "perfume oil bar" was testing heaven for all us youngsters..... Saturday afternoons were akin to a rugby scrum as we all clamoured to get to that glittering glass and chrome shrine of scent !Dewberry oil is my youth bottled The perfume oil bar was quite new and different at the time , and as us youngsters only choice up until then were the "grown up" parfum counters , usually ran by strict older females who DID NOT tolerate groups of teen girls spraying out there expensive tester perfumes, (and who can blame them! , we could never of afforded the goods , and were just after getting a free dousing of perfume!) In contrast the Body Shop not only tolerated , but they actively encouraged testing , and mixing of oils to make your own " special scents" - , HOORAY ! GREAT FUN !! I think the BS had thus cornered the "teen" market of the mid 80s- early 90s , which was'nt really catered for much back then in the UK. Unlike the USA which has seems to have been always had a vast range of scents for all ages and pockets , we didnt have much to choose from ..........There was the "high end parfum" counters in department stores , and then cheap Impulse body sprays and £1 market stall fake Dior Poison's to be had , and that was it , NO "teen" or "celeb" frags to be had ...........So , hats of to the BS , they catered for us teens very well. I speak of all this in the past tense as I actually do miss the "perfume oil bar" concept. Sat here typing and reminising , i can almost smell the "dewberry" , "sandalwood" , "tea rose" , "patchouli" ( popular with young lads of a rocker or goth persuasion) , and of course the ever popular "white musk" TBS was also of decent quality and affordable. The scents were also innocent and age- appropriate for youngsters , nothing overtly sexy or skanky . My Mother approved of the BS Oils 100% .......unlike my Dior poison dupe/copy which she said was "too old" for me - of course she didnt mean old in that its a "granny scent" , but "old" as in its too suggestive , sexual and a man eater fragrance for a 13 yr old girl to wear. To try bribe me to bin the poison dupe , my Mother bought me a few different BS gift sets one Christmas. DEWBERRY was my favorite. I recall it was a quite a "cold" feeling fruity oil , and therefore it was good to wear in the snowy months. Does anyone remember an oil called "Winter Dew" ....I recall having that as a gift set too. I think you got an oil , a deo spray ( which was strong enough as a perfume in its own right!) and a body lotion. Id love to get my hands on that again . Its too far back to remember the notes , what i DO remember is that it was a gorgeous winter spicy berry/woody combo and i was quite in love with it. All the other girls wore "dewberry" , "vanilla" or "white musk" , so i liked the fact i had my own semi-unique scent too. My mind is made up , i MUST track down bottles , or samples of these scents of my youth. Im pretty sure one little sniff will transport me back to the carefree days of my teens ......... I must confess i havent set foot inside a BS for years , I lost interest when they removed the perfume bar. From doing a quick google , it seems I am not alone. many perfume bloggers have lamented the loss too. These days i prefer LUSH for my natural soaps ect , but you can bet id be RACING down to the BS if they were to ever reinstate there "Perfume Bar" . They would surely regain plenty of "lost" customers such as myself , and I think the teens of today would appreciate those fantastic oils which have been a BIG part of us "Oldies" youth. Happy Sniffing ! And if anyone had any old BS oils they want to sell or swap , you know where to come!

Gosh, I can vividly remember how practically every girl in my school smelt of either White Musk, Vanilla or Dewberry back in the (good ol') days. TBS really rocked in the fragrance department, definitely! And of course I was one of them since I absolutely loved and adored Dewberry. It was sparkling, fresh, fruity, youthful and happy all at the same time, making me feel uplifted during the long hours of school days. I'd love to test it again out of sheer curiosity but not sure if I would like the new version as much as I did feel about the original. It'd be a fun trip down the memory lane anyway, all the way back to my teen years. I guess it would be like meeting a long-lost but once close relative after spending many years apart.

I was pretty excited to test this out at a local Body Shop store. I just applied a dab on my wrist. It opened up with bright refreshing zingy dewy fresh vegetal berry notes, as if you are crushing the berry and leaves with your fingers, quite addictive, fun and nostalgic. I won’t call it juvenile but does remind me of my teenage self in 90’s. It is reasonably sweet but not overpowering. Then, about 15 mins later, it transitioned into musky woody base. Not bad at all for the price, it is one of those pick me up scents to pop into your bag, just to get refreshed after a gym session.

I wore this a lot in my 20s and have not seen or smelt it in years. However, I can vividly remember it and I liked it very much. I thought the main note was blackberry at the time, but am not surprised to learn it was blackcurrant, as I liked another perfume at the same time that definitely contained blackcurrant (I'm almost sure it was by Mary Quant, but have been unable to find out what it was called). I remember Dewberry as having reasonable staying power but not being overpowering (at least not on me - but perfumes often don't seem to last long/smell very strong on me).

This perfume makes me feel nostalgic for my teenage years; it's still my 'method perfume' when I go to a 1990s theme party. Back then I had every Dewberry product – the perfume oil, the eau de toilette (which I still have), the soap, the moisturiser – and believed strongly in the 'layering' principles I read about in magazines. People must have smelled me coming from miles away! These days I find it way too sweet and fruity and it gives me a headache, but I'll always think fondly of it as my first signature scent.

This to me was the scent of the early 90s, when I was a wee teen and couldn't afford perfumes from the big fashion brands and perfume houses. It started me on my fragrance journey and it seemed everyone had a bottle of this in the 90s in my country. It has real lasting power and an unmistakable scent, which perhaps was its downfall. It was too common place and everyone knew what and where it came from. But I still keep a bottle of this and wear it out of nostalgia.

I was in love with this stuff in high school, and I still think the scent is okay- if I saw some in a sale I'd probably buy it, but wouldn't go out of my way for it. The scent is hard to describe, but, like other reviewers, it epitomizes TBS to me. I always associate this scent with the color purple, likely because I loved those melt-away bath oil beads. The dewberry ones were always purple!

About the 2026 formulation: much greener than I thought. Blackcurrant with leaves and all. The user @jesz also pointed out the tomato leaf accord, what a brilliant observation! I'd say it's more a green berry scent than a sweet fruity-berry. Smells like a summer spent in nature (rather than on a beach wearing a sun lotion and eating fruit).

Fresh floral green, sweet and tart-fruity at the same time, I loved Dewberry. It wasn't like the overly candy-sweet fruity flora with patchouli frags that have been popular the past decade. Can't pick individual notes out. Reminds me of eco events in spring and summer in high school back in the 90's, smelled this everywhere.

Mi ricorda molto Encens et bubblegum di etat libre d'orange. Ha una nota di apertura molto pungente,forse di eucalipto mescolato a quel mix di frutti golosi e rotondi. Un fruttato goloso che si mescola su s stesso e sulla vaniglia cremosa. Non sento odori di mora selvatica in partcolare ma vari sentori di frutti rossi

The new version is suuuuper WEAK and lollipop sweet.... Pretty disappointing 😭 Editing to add that the body butter is pretty close to the original scent! More than the oil.

God, another "relic" from the late 80's and early 90's... :) I liked Dewberry a lot when I was a teenager, but wouldn't wear it anymore.

This is better (for me) as a body wash than a perfume, but maybe if I mixed it with some vanilla...

Next to White Musk this was a huge winner every day for 3 years for me as well in my youth.

i loved this scent when i was a teenager..this and the Oceane oil. anyway, I just found a perfume that's not on fragrantica that i think is very similar to Dewberry (only from memory): Swiss Arabian Zain (oil), which I got in one of their sample packs. To my nose/memory it smells a lot like Dewberry, in case anyone is looking for something similar! (Apologies for posting this here but I looked at the forum and could not figure out where to post something like this but wanted to share.)

I mostly get the white flowers and the rose in the perfume oil. I get more berries from the body spray. So I prefer that one. Not as sweet as I thought it would be. And it's pretty intimate in sillage. For now, I will give it an "ok". Must continue to try it out a bit more.

dewberry was one of my favorite scents when i was a young teenager. it was sweet but had that tartness from the black currant that i so loved. i can't imagine wearing it now, but it has a special place in my heart and memories. <3

Every time I stand in Lush or the Body Shop I can feel that sharp pain above my left eye....an approaching perfume headache. Somewhere in that heady, melting pot of scents is Dewberry & it is that little 'delight' that meant I had an almost perpetual perfume headache throughout my school years. Please, if you're young, don't over apply this fruit-candy concoction...& if you're older, you should know better! ;p

Nope. Fruit gloop and sweets shudder 3/10. Many years ago I used to love Body Shop as a place and concept and I had used to like White Musk and love the jasmin and neroli scent they had so I really really wanted to like others, and I tried this one numerous times (the bath stuff was... OK, I guess). But no. Ugh. No.

I hated Dewberry, at school in the 1980’s almost every girl wore it. It saturated each classroom and gave me a headache. Dewberry is so strong, it’s a room filler, which would be ok if it was a pleasant smell. If I smelled Dewberry now, I’d still hate it, but there would be a blast of nostalgia too.

I smelled the spray version of this and it very quickly after spraying it dries down smelling like the purple V.I.Poo spray (toilet spray)

It smells like a mix of berry jelly candy, poo spray with berries and a hint of berry mojito. Did not like it at all.

Memories indeed! I stumbled across The Body Shop years ago. At the time I bought several oils Dewberry, Deep Woods, Juba, WinterDew, Mandarin. Then a couple of years later bought Egyptian Musk. All of these were in small round plastic bottles with black caps. Then another shopping spree bought Activist, Moonflower I think, with the black round top. Found Freesia, Sandalwoody with the black square top and frosted round glass. Went to a thrift shop a couple of weeks ago and I could not believe my eyes found Tea Rose and Lilac in the glass case with other articles. I loved TBS, back in the day. But now it doesn't carry the volume it did. Never had any of the oils to spoil on me, even though they are in plastic bottles. I always stored them out of natural and sunlight. My best of the bunch was Deep Woods, I only have a couple of drops left. I always got compliments when I combined with with Evelyn & Crabtree, Savannah Gardens. So Sad to lose both!

When I started my first job, my trainer would upend a bottle of this onto her head every morning, tea break, lunchtime and afternoon tea break and pour it over herself. The scent formed something almost visual, it radiated out her a bit like a shield suit in the movie Dune. No one was going to get to HER with a crysknife... So... while it's strongly associated in my mind with a girl with dreadful 90s hair called 'Kylie' - I had another go at this recently out of morbid curiosity for my past. I love the scent. It's strong and in-ya-face and I think i'd have to be much younger to wear it. I would love to smell it on others but not for me. I'm going to keep the bottle, sniff it every now and then, and think of really bad hair scrunchies.

Anyone who grew up in the 80s will remember this as the signature scent that engulfed you the minute you walked into your local Body Shop. There's not much to say about this sweet, youthful fragrance that smells like - surprise! - berries. I was once fascinated by Anita Roddick, the Body Shop founder and avidly read her books on her alternative approach to business. I kinda lost interest when I heard that The Body Shop had been sold to L'Oreal. It seemed so at odds with all the things I had read about Anita and the company. Whenever I smell this now it reminds me that when it comes to business - even supposedly alternative ones - the bottom line really is the bottom line, and that hippies are often the worst kind of capitalists. Sigh.

Radioactive Super Mutant Ninja Berry!!! This is how my whole school smelled in the 90's, it's a smell that if you put on more than a pin drop of the oil, you empty out a whole building! It's very pretty but the dosage REALLY needs to be in iUg's. And didn't the whole 15ml bottle spill in transit. Silly seller on eBay didn't even pack the glass bottle in bubble wrap.... so now the work toilet will smell of Dewberry for weeks. Back to the scent, linear berries, not too sweet a little bit tart. Cozy and summery. Very synthetic, but in a pleasant way! I like this one, will probably be way to afraid to wear it, fearing over dosage, but looking forward to have the replacement bottle, once received, as a keeper in my memory scent library.

Like many of us Gen Xers I wore this as a teen in the early 90s. I wore it when I dated my gorgeous high school sweetheart (yes, the very one I had my first date with and wore White Musk). I liked it then as an eighteen year old. I purchased it not too too long ago when it re-emerged in the early teens, I think. I wanted to slather it on and go back to the sweet, sweet days of size 4 jeans, 90210, and Merry Go Round. Nope. Very,very leafy! I remember it being sweet. I honestly found it a bit "annoying" and scrubbed it off. I too miss The Body Shop scent bar with abandon. My sister and I had so much fun. Also, Garden Botanika, and Soapberry...ah, the 90s.

My 90s-era bottle is buried in storage out of state at the moment, but I can still remember the scent well. I was on a work trip for a nonprofit organization and the staffer I was sharing a hotel room with had a little bottle of Dewberry oil on her side of the bathroom counter. Such a fizzy, joyful, and refreshing combination of grapefruit, blackcurrant, and sweet florals. My colleague was further along in her career than I was, so this became the fragrance of my ambitions, youth, and hopefulness at that age. I can't wait to try this again. I hope my bottle is still good. I would love to experience a few moments of time warp to that era.

The Body Shop has relaunched the Dewberry collection, which I remember well from its heyday many moons ago. The current iteration is fruity and green in equal measures. The list of notes suggests a floral-fruity bomb; instead, the titular fruit is enhanced with dewy green and woody notes, which match its character much better. The blackcurrant shrubs themselves are very aromatic, so it would be a shame to suffocate that scent with sugar. The fragrance is quite simple and linear, suitable for young girls or anyone who needs a refreshing everyday scent. Myself, I bought the hand balm.

This fragrance will always be one close to my heart. This reminds me of the early noughties, when my best friend and I used to go to the same school for a while before she moved. I vividly remember smelling her as soon as she would walk into the classroom. She would leave a sweet, fruity trail where ever she went too. I don’t think I would purchase this as I’m pretty sure that it’s been reformulated and it would ruin the memories and nostalgia. However, I do remember a Zara fragrance called Fruity which was somewhat reminiscent of the old dewberry.

This is the first perfume oil I've ever bought. The scent is really comforting and reminds me of my sweet childhood. Its just sweet like rapsberry but more like flowery not fresh at all, I think somehow it's just represents TBS itself, but how come they'd discontinue this line ? I think this perfume suit the best for teenagers. I still keep the bottle with some oil left, since it already discontinued for some years. I want to keep this beautiful scent in my mind, although there's slightly change due to its expiry date lol.

Former Dewberrians, I have a message for you: try Hermes Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate. I don't know how photo-accurate my memory of Dewberry is, after ~20 years since last sniffing it, but this *felt* like Dewberry from first spray. There's this incredibly juicy grapefruit + currant note that immediately took me back. And hey, the Hermes is probably cheaper than actual Dewberry at this point--so really, how could you afford not to buy it?

If you, like me, ADORED Dewberry as a teenager (for me it was probably '92-'94 when I wore this religiously), then you may want to try Diesel's Fuel For Life, as the opening of that scent reminds me of Dewberry a lot, but is far, far more sophisticated and a lot less sweet, simplistic and linear. Just a tip if you still kinda like this scent, but are looking for something a bit more grown-up!
