Japanese Cherry Blossom

My first fragrance review on Fragrantica! 🌸 🌸JAPANESE CHERRY BLOSSOM🌸 I got the entire set as a birthday gift after I finished my first bottle. It’s an incredibly lovely scent. Quite linear, no complex notes- but that’s not always a bad thing. Sometimes you just want to wear a simple fragrance that makes you feel good. This is definitely one of those scents for me for spring/summer. I layer it with the body lotion and the body mist so for me the longevity is very good. The sillage too. My mum noticed it the moment she entered my room and she was at least 7 feet away!! For me it always opens with the cherry blossom notes, very pretty and delicate. I smell the apple only in the dry down & I actually quite like it! I really hope TBS doesn’t discontinue it like it discontinued White Musk Libertine 💔 I think TBS’s Japanese Cherry Blossom a must have for anyone who likes fresh cherry blossom scents. It’s definitely a staple for me 💝 I’m not sure if I agree with the reviews calling it generic. I mean it’s a Japanese Cherry Blossom fragrance. Can’t really expect it to have sandalwood or chocolate notes in it, can we? TBS’s florals are not very complex fragrances. And that’s precisely what I love about them. One more thing— I got my first TBS Japanese Cherry Blossom body mist when I was at school. Around the same time I bought a Japanese Cherry Blossom body mist by Bath & Body Works. They’re NOT the same. B&BW’s rendition of Japanese Cherry Blossom is quite harsh on my nose for some reason. Whereas TBS’s Japanese Cherry Blossom is like a simple yet beautifully familiar melody. B&BW’s JCB smells like it’s been extracted from dried or drying flowers 😕 TBS’s JCB smells like it’s straight out of fresh cherry blossoms 🌸🥰

First; a quick review of what I remember: A soft floral fragrance with cherry blossom notes. Not too sweet and fruity, more aquatic and fresh. Now... ... Today was the third time I tested this one and it seems like I've begun to like it more since I didn't like it this much the first time. However, it's important to remember that this could be caused by anything and nothing... By this, I simply mean that it is possible to get tired of something, especially a scent, but I assume most people know these things. Anyway, I feel strongly for the Red musk and that's why I question myself; do I love/like this one as much as the other? Sometimes we like a certain thing, for example a fragrance, becauase of memories or because we associate it with specific personality traits that we have or with ourselves (we think that it fits us & is right for us). Sometimes we don't only go for the scent itself but for the thoughts and feelings it brings to us. What I'm trying to tell is that it's hard to compare the Red musk with this one partially since they're completly different and in some ways even opposite but also because I simply like them equaly but in different ways and for different reasons. My conclusion after this long review (which could be considered off topic, sorry for that #notsorry) is that I really enjoyed this fragrance even though it could fit better as someone else's signature scent. It's well-composed, sufficient and just as innocent and filled with pure beauty as it could be. Gorgeous.

i got gifted this when i was like 10 and it's nearly run out because we kept using it to cover the smell of our dog's poop whenever he went inside on rainy days. that being said, it's one of my favourite scents ever. it does spray a bit alcoholic and it smells almost offensive at the start but trust me it's such a breezy and sweet smell. i think it influenced my perception of other cherry blossom scents because i always end up unintentionally comparing them to this LOL

I bought the perfume oil which I find long lasting. Very fresh, the kind of delicate sweet fragrance that is tasteful, not at all a sickening kind of sweet. Been always looking for that right kind of sweet fragrance with right kind of sweetness and I think I ́ve finally found it.

Very fresh and soft, yet airy and light: perfect for hot summer days. It’s a shame that it doesn’t last very long, it's gone after 15-20 minutes on my skin.

I used to go crazy for this in middle school. Fresh, powdery, sweet but not sickly. It's a beauty scent and easily likable.

Love this scent...It is fruity with an aquatic twist which makes it very fresh, and not too sickly.

This used to be my favourite in med school. I dont know where did it go? Someone bring this back.

The perfect perfume to wear before going to bed, the soapy note helps me to relax and calm.

I was obsessed with this scent and the voyage perfume collection as a pre-teen. I think the packaging, bottle and name is what really won me over. Weirdly I received Jimmy Choo Blossom at a later age and its very similar so could be a good dupe. Its very fitting for the age range I was when I wanted it around 10 - 12 because it smells sweet and very young, there is nothing over complicated about this scent it is simply a summer spray which smells sweet and floral. Similar to other body sprays and perfumes I was interested in at the time you spray it then it disappears a few minutes later but it definitely gives a little serotonin booster as you spray. Makes me think of going to the fair with my friends, eating cotton candy and having fun during the summer.

I like this fragrance. It's light, clean and feminine. I mostly detect a green, woody scent which I believe is the Hanoki Wood and the scent of Magnolia. The Cherry Blossom scent is present but it is not that strong. It disappointed me a little that the Cherry Blossom scent is not that strong. The perfume lasts for over an hour or so on my skin. On clothing, for about 4 hours. Due to its short duration, I don't wear it when going out. The scent is calming and energizing. I like to spray this on myself just to feel better. It's almost like aromatherapy. I do like the scent but the short duration disappoints me.

I really like this EDT, my favorite from the 'Scents of the World' line...fresh and sweet, floral-fruity scent of cherry blossoms...great for everyday casual wear. Try this scent if you prefer tart, fresh cherries over the maraschino sort. Lasts around 3-4 hours on my skin. I tried the perfume oil as well and it's like the edt, no difference in scent, but longer lasting (softer sillage though). P.S. A sweet fragrance but as others pointed out, not as sweet as you might be worried it would be. I get lot of violets and maybe even lilacs from this one. The longevity is not great and the silage is also not the greatest but personally I am not unhappy about this as I think if it was stronger I would find the perfume too sickly and overwhelming, and just not 'me'. Like this I can use a tiny spritz on the go (as I own the miniature perfume spray bottle) and I know nobody standing next to me will pass out because of it.

I used to have the Japanese cherry blossom fragrance mist in uni and bought this version on a fluke as it was on offer on TBS. It is a stunning, comforting woody floral perfume. The hinoki wood adds a much needed dimension to this perfume. All in all, an absolute love for me ❤️ Reminds me of walking through a Japanese garden, wish it had more apples in there! Definitely a spring and autumn perfume. I can see myself reaching for this perfume in the autumn 😍 For the colder months, it would be very light and calming.

the first time I smelled this fragrance I totally fell in love with it, and I bought it together with the shower gel, I used it practically every day in summer, until its smell saturated me. I don't know if it will be the change of weather, since in my country it is winter or what, but I am resting for a while from this. the fragrance itself seems very fresh, feminine, soft, it is not sweet but it has something that adds a little sweetness. my sense of smell is very sensitive, maybe I use it too much.

I just received a package of this from my aunt on my birthday. I was not very excited at first because I didn't like the previous Japanese Cherry Blossom fragrance from TBS. But this is different. It reminds me of the L'occitane Cherry Blossom that I really like. This one is softer and fresher, a little sweet (but non offensive) it's subtle and delicate. Nice smell for everyday and the bottle isn't very big so you can freshen up after a while as this is not very long lasting. I like it.

I shoulda bought this years ago. Instead I got the Atlas mountain rose and the Amazonian wild lily, both of which I hardly ever use. For some reason I haven't wanted to splurge on the Japanese Cherry blossom, even though I've wanted it for a long time. Go figure! But now at last I have it, in oil format (edt was sold out. It appears they are changing the packaging of their fumes and selling out the old ones). This is nice! Good for office, inoffensive, sweet, lovely.

Finally finished my little 10ml travel spray this morning. This is a very uncharacteristic scent for me, but it's surprisingly ideal for hot days when the citrus freshies just disappear. It actually has a little "bite" to it in a very good way. Of course it still doesn't last very well all things considered, but it's a very unoffensive scent. I won't repurchase since there are a ton of other similar scents to try.

I recently bought this fragrance. I know this perfume is for spring/summer. But I don't care. I can use any perfume anytime :D. My first impression is that I really liked this fragrance. It is slightly sweet bu like a creamy way. I hate sweet/sugary fragrances so don't be afraid, this is not one of them. Also I think this perfume is for teens and early 20's. It doesn't have the weight of an adult and elder.

I received this a few years ago as a gift, and recently rediscovered it. It's a nice fresh cherry blossom scent. The opening was particularly alcohol-heavy and a little sharp, but it becomes softer as it dries down and the alcohol smell dissipates. A bit woody in the dry down, but mostly a linear fresh floral. Longevity is light-to-moderate. I was happy with the fragrance but don't plan to repurchase it.

It is nice and pleasant. Floral, maybe cherry blossoms, but they are a bit vague. It's a bit sweet. I think it smells like cherry blossoms in a abstract way, like the way you would paint cherry blossoms in watercolour. It's more about the sweetness, texture and the pink florals and the lightness that I think makes the association to cherry blossoms.

this is my very first fragrance ever! I bought this EDT ver. at the counter. The smell was nice and sweet, but not very strong. Such a perfect fragrance for a young, sweet, cheerful and bubbly girl. Also, I love the longevity. When I spray it to my neck and wrist in the morning I still could smell the fragrance in the afternoon.

I like it. It's a spring, fresh, floral scent which isn't too sweet. As an EDT, the longevity isn't that great and neither is the sillage, but that can always be sorted by putting on more...? It's my go to scent when I'm not in the mood for any of my other sweet-floral ones and I'm feeling just floraly.

This is just bleh on me. It smells very watery, like water someone threw a couple of petals into. If you want to smell like nothing, this is probably for you. Very inoffensive, very inconspicuous. I have a bottle of this and can't seem to get it over with even when i use it as air freshener.

This is a fresh everyday perfume for me, it doesn't have much longevity - and it suits me quite well sometimes. Other days when I want to feel more special I choose something else. But I've had this one for years (2016 or so), and the quality of the perfume in the bottle doesn't change.

Too generic. It's safe and fresh and light. Gone in 2 hours even after 6 sprays. I shouldn't have spend my money on this fragrance, could've saved for much better fragrance with better performance and sillage although a bit more expensive. Cheap perfume, what do I expect?

I have this in the perfume oil form which is a basic cherry blossom that's sweet but not cloying or overly sweet. It's a relatively soft scent that's nice on its own or layered under other perfumes. Longevity is good--I can usually still smell it at the 6 hour mark.

A very light, pleasant fragrance. Immediately was drawn to it in store but unfortunately it doesn't last too long nor project well. I have to spray it a lot and it's great for short term but definitely needs to be reapplied throughout the day.

impulse buy on the way to a concert. its nice and fresh and feminine. there is a slight alcohol note but it goes away quickly after spraying. one of my go tos when i want something simple and not provocative. good price

Very nice, fresh and soft. Perfect for young and delicate women. A little bit acid, but in a good way. Correct lasting power.

To me this is much similar to BBW JCB, i prefer CB which has lactonic milky scent. Sillage way longer than expected though.

I sprayed this on my wrist and enjoyed the smell. It lasted for hours too. Not worth the price for size though. Expensive

The only fragrance that I really like from this line. Just a nice pink fragrance with cherry blossom. Light and romantic.

I really like this perfume, it is so fresh and floral. It is very affordable (50ml bottle costs €22.50).

Used to wear the body mist version as my signature scent in middle school, and only purchased the perfume version for nostalgia. Ultimately there's no difference between the two, the longevity is about the same. It has a REALLY notable alcohol scent to it, but the dry-down is a light woody floral. There's better cherry blossom fragrances out there.

I'm actually really surprised by how long this lasts. A lot longer than things like CK One and Be and even longer than Chanel Cristalle I've been wearing. But I don't really like it. It smells like cherry soda pop.I just sprayed it on my wrist at the mall. Real bummer than my local body shop only has testers for this and Indian Jasmine in these lovely new bottles. It sells a couple of the other fragrances in packs with a bunch of product but has no testers for them. This is dumb. Get it together Body Shop Auckland New Zealand. I love what this bottle looks like it's so pretty. Body Shop stores in Auckland should include all the main fragrances that have this gorgeous bottle and have testers for them. I find this a bit too sweet. No unpleasant but not exactly pleasant because it's too sweet and smells like soda pop to me. Also it seems I don't seem to like scents with apple in them.

went into the shop with the full intention to buy the indian jasmine one but i smelled this one and i was like OOOOooeeehhh. so i bought this one and i sprayed on myself and i was really happy and everything... until the drydown. oh god the drydown makes me feel sick. it's not sickeningly sweet but sickening in an overly powdered floral kinda smell. i get car sick a lot and i made a mental note never to wear this when i'm traveling by car or by bus, which is like, everyday. in other words, this is a total waste of money because i can't even spray this on myself even when i'm just at home because i don't feel at peace and calm. when i'm hanging at the house, i just wanna feel relaxed but this perfume makes me nauseous and mad that i spent my hard-earned money on it!

Too generic, it reminded me of a Victoria Secret and Bath and Body Works Fragrance mixed with Paris Hilton Paris Hilton, it is fresh and clean.

Strong alcohol with artificial flower scent. It doesn't last long either.

I do hope that this newly packaged Japanese Cherry Blossom fragrance, now a part of the 'Scents of the World' range, is the same as the original. I can definitely smell the cherry blossom in this fragrance, however I can smell a note of crisp, green apple just as strongly. These two notes go extremely well together. The overall blend is fresh and summery. I was a bigger fan of The Body Shop as a teen than I am now. I remember loving their lip balms and soaps, however I don't think I ventured far enough to test their fragrances. I should have. The Body Shop has a great range of perfumes for teens, in an affordable price range too. Japanese Cherry Blossom is quite a clean fragrance to my nose. It smells a bit like an Impulse deodorant, but I mean that in the best possible way. It's incredibly easy to wear, and not likely to offend. It has relatively average longevity on my skin, but I certainly don't consider it to be poor. Japanese Cherry Blossom ticks all the necessary boxes. It would make a good Summer staple in any fragrance wardrobe.

Very likable scent. After wearing this for a few hours i feel like i am wearing a purple perfume. The fruitiness of it makes me think of red grape skins mixed with apple skins mashed up with a bit of fruit juice and tamed by a touch of powder. I realize that i am very sensitive to fruit notes in any perfume. My skin tends to bring out fruit accords more than any other category. This one just doesn't suit me. I gave the edt away but still have the body mist. Both were gifted to me by two different people. It's hilarious because this has happened to me many times before where i have been gifted by different people cherry blossom fragrances. Maybe because i am half asian, people probably feel cherry blossom will hit "home" with me because of the heritage of the cherry blossom tree lol.

Japanese Cherry Blossom is a very volatile fragrance - with first sniff you cannot detect the notes, and second sniff just gives generic springtime floral scent. The fragrance is very uniform through the wear time. Fresh, sweet and soapy, slightly tart florals are what you get. It starts almost as cooling sweetness, then comes light, soapy and sweet magnolia. Finish is still sweet and tart, not as light though, and with barely there musk and earthy nuances. The wear time is up to four hours and sillage is rather weak. Mainly one can smell some light and sweet florals, so it gives more an impression of shampoo or hand cream rather than substantive fragrance. Not a bad scent per se, but for me it is a no as I prefer more complex scents.

I think the body shop is the best bet when it comes to simple affordable mists and fragrances. Can't believe anyone would prefer bath and body works japanese cherry blossom over this one! the fake synthetic 2D amber and vanilla sugar are the recipe for disaster that ruin most BABW fragrances. The body shop's is straightforward cherry blossom, aquatic white flowers and green apple. Done. In low budget less is more. Smells really cute too like a japanese spring morning.

A delicate floral with a nice, apple-y zing to it. As most cherry blossom scents, I can barely smell this on myself, but others constantly compliment me on my perfume. Must be a smell that suits me, I suppose! Just a little tip: this is now on sale at The Body Shop, but with the old packaging (I think they renewed this line last summer). Same lovely scent for a much better price!

Floral, fresh and lovely! It reminds me the spring in the air. But... Do I smell the lilac? It's not listed but I do! I smell lilac blossoms with some drops of dew on them early in the morning before the sunrise. This scent is also like expensive soap ( in a good way), Camay French perfume collection for exemple. Would be nice for warm summer evening walks with the one you love.

Just bought it today along with the matching body butter and together they create such a sweet scent. I love cherry blossoms and a soon as I heard about this fragrance come out, I grabbed some friends and raced down to the body shop :) I hope they create a frangipani perfume. Recommend this to all my friends.

If you loved the older rectangle packaging of the edt you will love this in perfume oil (if you like oil version). It smells pretty much the same but stronger and lasts well. I havent tried the edt of this new version. Update - same perfume in edt but a new packaging and the oil version is incredibly similar

Not unique, but it's nice and fresh. It's the one you reach for everyday. Smells watery cherry blossom that not too sweet. Apple gives it fresh vibe n magnolia smells delicate. Longevity is great for EDT 6+ hours Sillage an arm for 3 hours.. After that it's a second skin but you can easily get a waft of it
