OMG I can't believe I have never written a review for this since I've been a member on this site! Let me start by saying this....Nine times out of 10 I will not like fragrances from BBW or Body Shop. It's nothing personal or any type of dislike for the stores, it's simply that I usually find them beyond generic, beyond sweet etc etc but Oceanus......Oh Oceanus ....This is my one true love! Shhh don't tell my husband that :) clearly for those who aren't into aquatics this would not be for you but I you like l'eau d'issey, eternity aqua or perfumes like that than you will love this. Sadly it's discontinued and trying to find it is impossible, well aside from ppl on eBay trying to make serious coin out of discontinued fragrances. So if someone happens to find this cheap...Message me please!!!!

The only reason I have this one for so long after it was discontinued is because it was a gift that I liked a lot at the time, but put away and forgot about. I have occasionally pulled it out to use, but since the bottle is also rather small, it was easy to forget. It’s an absolutely gorgeous fragrance! It has this rich creamy fullness that I would not have expected from what is supposed to be an ‘aquatic’ fragrance. The flowers are very strong, and I can also detect the sandalwood that anchors them. It leaves me with an impression of saltiness that really does remind me of the ocean. It’s full-bodied, bold, but also very elegant and classy. I hope they bring it back! I use this so sparingly that anyone would be forgiven for thinking me a miser.

A friend passed this on to me,with an apology because she said she didn't find it interesting and didn't care if I passed it on or tossed it out. Goes to show that one person's "'Meh" is another person's "Mmmm". I don't usually go for aquatic scents, but this one is a delight! It brings back memories of my college years when I had the time, energy and freedom to just hop on my bicycle and peddle out 20 miles to the beach. THis perfume perfectly captures the smell of the salty ocean misted air along with the scent of the wild rose bushes that lined the boardwalk on Jones Beach. LOVE IT! Great tip from ION to keep it in the fridge. Perfect summer scent!

This was the first perfume I bought with my own money, and I think I was 10 or so. I loved it, and it was just right for a young girl; not too cloying or strong, but clean and innocent. I can recall the lily-of-the-valley and waterlily notes being strong. It's fresh, but not in a laundry detergent, soapy kind of way I really hate. (Clean perfumes, really, oh boy, eeww!) All in all, I feel sad TBS discontinued this. But if they ever put it back to market, I will get a bottle of Oceanus. Such a nostalgic scent. And appropriate for anyone.

<3 this big time - want it back now, lol! It reminds me of being a teenager, and well, yeah, being a teenager carefree and full of dreams... still am more or less both ;) Perhaps that is why I wanna see this coming back to the stores again, well, to the Body Shop that is, - so that I can have a sniff of my all time favorite (one of them that is) perfumes :) And it so reminds me of the 90's - like I wish that they could take it back into the stores, just as a 90's theme thing! I mean, the 90's are back, sorta, right, yeah?!? :D

Maybe I'm trippin, but Safeguard's Liquid Hand Soap with Notes of Lavender smells just like Oceanus. It's been since 1998 since I last bought a bottle of Oceanus and so maybe I'm wrong. But man, I time travel every time I wash my hands! Anyway, love Oceanus. It was my signature scent for a couple of years.

Bring back the body shop’s Oceanus! This is what my older sister used to wear, and with summer now in full swing here in Australia, I have been dreaming of wearing it down to the beach. A beautiful light aquatic with a very specific 90s vibe. The absolute number one salty and splashy aquatic fragrance.

This is my favourite of all Body Shop fragrances. I still have a bottle that I'm using very sparingly. It's clean, fresh, slightly floral aquatic that transports you into the Mediterranean on a balmy, hot August afternoon. I'm in my own private world when I'm wearing this beautiful little gem.

This is one of my OG fragrances! I remember every Christmas getting a gift set of this. I’m very much a lover of the fresh perfumes, it’s my absolute favourite types and this is not just fresh but aquatic (shocking with a name like Oceanus lol) perfect! Absolutely perfect!

I remember my first serious girlfriend bought me this fragrance. I absolutely loved it. I just recently smelled cool water for women. And it kind of reminded me of it. I might have to pick it up. These fresh aquatic fragrances are usually unisex now anyways.

This is the best cheap marine/Aquatic fragrance for summertime! This brings back some really sweet memories for me.. Hot Swedish summer by the ocean wearing Oceanus edt. Nothing could have been better! *ADORES IT*

I loved this smell when I was a teenager and in my early 20s. Happy memories just come back to me when I think of the smell. I wish it was still available. It was simple, straightforward, and unassuming.

This is a fresh crisp 'laundry' scent. I understand the sea undertones in this fragrance, but really, to me smells like fabric softner, which I find lovely. Very feminine.

I loved this scent back in the day! It smelt so clean and fresh and had a slight floral sweetness to it. Such a shame it was discontinued, I don't understand it.

So lovely and fresh, it makes me feel like a mermaid! I can feel the sweet salty ocean spray on my skin as the warm sun radiates off my shiny mermaid tail!

My mom has an older bottle of this stuff (with more decal), and it still smells great! It's so aptly named, because it is aquatic but in the way sea spray comes off. The most notable attribute to my nose is actually a saltiness that permeates the whole experience. I immediately smelled lily-of-the-valley, but it's such a distinct floral that it's difficult not to. It has a very 90s feel to it, but in the best way. The rest of it is quite simply a vague floral melange, it's fresh and cooling as you'd expect. It's truly an ultimate summer fragrance, and it's on the femme side of unisex, but I think men could wear this easily (who cares, wear what you like anyway). The color of the bottle is quite suitable 🌊

I used to wear this between the ages of 13 to 15 - the scent of youth haha! I loved this so much but was sad when the packaging changed the fragrance was also reformulated and wasn't half as strong. Not something i'd wear now, along with other aquatics from the turn of the millennium, like Davidoff's Cool Water, but always nice to have a wee sniff of my old bottle (that has sadly turned a wee bit) I don't understand why this was discontinued by the body shop!

I forgot I had this until recently when I found it tucked away in the back of a box in the back corner of a cupboard. I forget why I stopped wearing it. Maybe I just found something else I preferred. The sharp initial aquatic notes die down quickly and become a salty powdery scent like the combination of sea water drying on skin and and a soft warm towel that was washed in a floral detergent. It's quite pleasant but really, nothing out of the box.

I'm a huge fan of aquatics so i was so excited to purchase this. However, its not something i very particularly love. It tends to give me a headache. I need to be in the mood to be able to wear this scent without getting nauseous. I tend to use it on my bed. I like it when it lightly scents the room but not on my skin.

Have to agree with Miss Guerlain, this has got to be one of the best of the cheaper aquatic style fragrances, Light and fresh and great for everyday wear, although it has good staying power on my skin, I never find it too strong. Fortunately one can still pick it up at a reasonable price in the UK, long may that last.

Very aquatic, indeed. I had it years ago. Salty, spicy, fresh in a musky way. Great for spring and summer, especially for those long walks by the sea. As usual, the Body Shop discontinued another great fragrance of it. What's wrong with them? What's next? Are they planning to discontinue White Musk,too?

First off, I had no idea they discontinued this scent. Figures. A good friend of mine gave this to me as part of my Christmas gift in 2010, and I just love it. It's so crisp, and as another commenter said, it's a "deep" kind of fresh, not a "clean" kind of fresh. Awesome summer scent!

The first time I smelled it on my friend and fell in love. Such a nice and fresh scent. And normally I don ́t like fresh scents at all. But this fragrance is a perfect summer scent. Now, I wear it since 9 years. Unfortunately, it ́s discontinued. Why??

This scent is very refreshing, reminds me of the sea. I use this typically in the summer more. It's too bad they don't make this anymore! Sometimes they pull it back out at discounted prices though. I picked up the EDT bottle for $5 only!

Definitely aquatic. I get some light citrus notes and a strong green tea note, another review mentioned seaweed which I could be confusing it with. Some salty sea mineral notes as well. Nothing special or original, but I can't hate it.

let's write a petition to push The Body Shop re-produce this fragrance once more. i missed the airy aquatic scent so bad ...

Young, Fresh, Cool, Soft, uni sex, more for young girls. Grow on you after a while.

Definitely different. Very clean smelling almost like frabic softener.

Someone bought this for me as a present, and I tried to like it but just couldn't get into it. Very aquatic, and to me there was an unbearably strong hint of melon in the mix, which I just did not like. Nope. Not for me.

Bought this a long time ago (think 2004) and its still there in the shelf. It smells nice but could be overpowering for daytime use. I hate this perfume now because it smells VERY strong on me :(

To me this one smells a little on the stronger side. I can see it appropriate as men's fragrance and I don't mind smelling it as long as it's not on me.

I can't stand it. Very sharp aquatic scent. Smells like laundry detergent or toilet cleaner. Makes me sneeze.

I guess, it's the combination of the white floral and musk, but this reads like barely concealed B.O. to my nose. There's something to this scent, you can tell it's painting some kind of palette of flowers by the sea, but it turns a putrid kind of funk, almost fecal, in execution. Yes, it's much more feminine and I am a man, but I've gotten away with some very floral scents in the past, I tend to think floral are more unisex than most... This one just doesn't work. The violet note is harsh, the rose is stale... Perhaps a single spritz of this on a tall gorgeous woman on a beach somewhere works fine, but it's so far from being something is like to smell with any frequency. In summary, terrible on me, and not something I'd like more than a whif of on someone else.

I used to love and wear the soap, lotion and fragrance of Oceanus. Such a lovely, refreshing and clean scent! Now though, wearing the scent all over is a bit too much for me, so while I may not go back to the whole line, last year, I received the scent in the bath salts as a gift, and this is where I like it best. It's just perfect in bath salts! So lovely and refreshing after a long day! The strong marine florals soften beautifully in the water. It smells like the ocean to me, but I agree too, it's like freshly laundered linens. I just lie back and I'm transported to sunny day in a house by the beach...clothes swaying in the breeze on the clothesline, and waves crashing on the beach...

Believe it or not, "Oceanus" takes me back to my military service years! My superior in the army (yes, a woman) obviously was a fanatic of it and made sure she was treated a good application before our daily, early morning, meeting. [all the things women do when surrounded by men ;-)] Anyway, this is the female version of a perfume I reviewed yesterday, "Kenzo Homme". An olfactory interpretation of fresh water with the tangible capability to actually cool you down if worn in the heat! Most probably one of Body Shop's best moments, simple (but not too much), efficient and quite distinct. Water lily at its finest! A tip: Keep it in the fridge.

It's one of the most beautiful scent that can be applied in tropical weather, and in any occasion, whether it was in a holiday or formal party. Started with water lily, which gave instant freshness. Then the light, sparkling floral - dominated by lily of the valley and a hint of jasmine on my skin - kicked in, with water lily still lingered behind. It was ended by musk. One thing I noticed that it did not last long. In short, I fell in love head over heels with this one. Too bad it was discontinued while so many women like it here.

I had this scent a quite a few years ago. I think it was one of my first perfumes (I had the body mist form) and it smelled so nice. I was at the body shop a couple of years ago and I was going to buy a bottle of it and decided not to. I totally regret it! After reading previous reviews in the comments down below, I never knew they discontinued it! I'm sad now!

Oceanus was absolute perfection, and The Body Shop did us dirty by discontinuing it. It was the ultimate fresh, aquatic summer scent—not cheap or overpowering at all. It smells exactly like poolside hangouts, walking to get ice blocks, and teenage slumber parties. Re-releasing Dewberry is cool and all, but read the room. We need Oceanus back!

I use to love it as an teenager and I still think is beatiful. Smells clean, fresh and not too womanlike.I don't know if it is suitable for men though. Sure starts with water lily, then floral (most violet and water lily, less jasmin.End of sandalwood with some musk. Now at 30's I like to smell it in the room not on my skin.

I used to wear this on my college days... it was an amazing aquatic scent I still have the perfume oil .. sad that was an amazing & discontinued... but the good new I find a very similar scent or identical if I can say , it’s ocean from J.Cazanova it’s 98,9% like TBS oceanus

I have always loved this one...very fresh and clean smelling. Now it may be 'too much' to overly layer this with all of the body products. I like to combine the wash and/or body lotion with something slightly different such as Ralph Lauren's Pure Turquoise.

True story. My mom got complimented on this scent and was asked what it was. The funny thing is that it was from a nurse when she was having a colonoscopy. The nurse couldn't believe the name of the fragrance and thought my mom was joking.

Oceanus is an aquatic fresh floral fragrance.Anyone who loves sea will adore it.Original and fantastic.If you close your eyes you will find yourelf in the water swimming in lake full of water-lilies .
