Patchouli

How I love the spicy earthiness of patchouli. I wear it a lot, especially when I am wearing a floral that is sweet & needs something to ground it & give the right pungency offsetting the floral sweetness. This especially works well with single note florals like gardenia, rose or honeysuckle. I like to mix patchouli with myrrh & make my own anti-mosquito oil. Mixing with Avon's Skin So Soft Bath Oil a good one, also. Sometimes I will even add frankincense & they blend so well together. I particularly like to mix patchouli with rose. When I mix it with other fragrances, I usually use a light touch on the patchouli because it is so potent, it easily overpowers softer scents such as rose. Oh, my sweet-sharp patchouli!!! 'Have loved it since I was introduced to it in my teens in the late 60s & 70s. I just never outgrew it! Its been a lifelong love affair!!!

This stuff is very powerful. Goes on very concentrated and kinda harsh. Depending on how much you put on, it takes about 30 minutes to an hour to calm down and start radiating that classic dank, musky patchouli smell. The review below that said "soliflore for weed" isn't that far off. This is a skanky patch. Its very deceptive as well. You will become anosmic to it, you might actually question its performance. But people that are 10 feet away will turn to look at you with a scandalous eye. Patchouli is like that. It sneaks through the air and people can pick up that exotic, prickly texture pretty easily. Less is more with this stuff. I have 15 mls and it'll probably last me a lifetime.

I have a very old bottle of this that I found in a drawer when I moved into my home. The oil is dark, very dark and not light at all. The smell is a true patchouli but this has a more wearable vibe. I used to wear any patchouli oil I could get my hands on in the 90’s now being older 38 now I like it but I like it more in something like Narciso For Her edp or Guerlain Parfum Initial. But there’s something about this that I cannot stop sniffing. Maybe it s nostalgia but I love this old bottle so much! I wouldn’t wear this out but indoors or at night I would totally rock this. I really do like it, it smells like teen spirit. ;)

I am crazy for Patchouli, and this is my favorite brand. I'm sure people wince when I enter a room because I like my scents to be on the bold side.

Got a very well kept bottle, still golden colored oil. Opens kinda earthy, chocolatey, woody, kind of cloying tbh. Then after about 20 mins it calms down to a nice woody, soft spicy patchouli. You’ll keep catching hints of earth, spice, wood and of course patchouli. Can’t speak about the sillage, I have a sort of nose blindness to patchouli, but longevity is about maybe 4 hours of projection, then I’m not even sure if it’s there. Great for layering. I can see it layering well florals, vetiver, maybe even some freshies, although that earthy opening can prove challenging. At 60 - 100$ a bottle on the bay, this is only for patchouli lovers. EDIT: found a huge bottle of this stuff, I wear it all the time now. Just a few dabs on the wrist, rub it out like an attar, up the forearms, sleeves and collar. Rubbing it out can help with the opening but still retaining a good amount of earth.

This one is discontiniued but bodyshop sells an other one that can do even better job and it is not listing here in fragatica. That is Bergamont & Patchouli . All my favorites has Bergamont among the opening notes and patcouli among the base notes.(Elixir aromatics, chanel No5 ,Opium,youth dew,Arpege ,JOOP etc). So i put a tiny little drop of this oil on my wrists and i layer my favorite one when i want better longevity and sillage.

In the early 2000es BS retailed unscented bath and body cares that were able to be perfumed with these oils. Great autumn memories! Patchouli lovers should give a try to Honoré Payan's Patchouli 1854, Patchouli Original (previously Patchouli Antique, manufactured for Les Néréides) and Patchouli Ambré, so close to Patchouli Leaves from Montale.

Odore misterioso legnoso,cupo, sa di cantina umida e di terra bagnata,un tocco di menta,muschio di quercia,intenso e molto invernale. Non è uno dei miei preferiti del Body shop ma fa parte di quelle fragranze che adoro aver in collezione.

This was my signature fragrance throughout my 20s-mid 30s. I even found a vile after this fragrance was long discontinued. Everyone knew me by my signature scent. A little goes a long way. Not for everyone.

Fragrance Review For Patchouli The Body Shop Notes: Patchouli An aromatic green herbal patchouli as oil, not really a perfume. This is the equivalent of a soliflore but for weed. You have to be a fan of patchouli and you can't blind buy this perfume. It's nothing but patchouli. It has enormous sillage and longevity and reminds me of Jeanne Arthes Patchouli Sumatra. It's more of a niche perfume and I find that it's too strong for an every day perfume. Sure you can apply it on your skin but don't over do it and don't wear this as a signature scent just something to wear at night on certain times of the year: Halloween, maybe a late summer night at a club or café. It can give you an air of mystery or exoticism. It's unisex since patchouli is a base note in men and women's fragrances. Very realistic and very good introduction to patchouli.

I LOVE this straight-up patchouli oil. Enormous lasting power, and lasts a long time on me. Love smelling it on my clothes. My daughter recognizes something that I've worn by the patchouli smell. Can't tell you enough how much I love this....! Sometimes, I don't smell it on myself at all and I will get people asking me "hmmm, what are you wearing, you smell soooo nice".....this happens all the time. I don't like patchouli blended with anything else, straight-up is how I take it and love it.

I had that small brown bottle of pure essential oil in 2001. It smelled AMAZING!! I'd even sniff it straight from the bottle, that's how much I loved it.. ;) Somehow along the years I fell out of using patchouli, but a few years ago bought an essential oil by another company - it smelled nothing like the Body Shop one! I guess there are different types of patchoulis? Such a shame, would love another bottle of the original Body Shop one!!

This smells so bad.. Like cheap house fragrances, or scented candles. Never put it on your body, because it rubs all over the place. I so resented the rest of my night, after I was convinced by a sales person that it wouldn't smell totally awful... but it did, and it wouldn't wash off. I had to wait! AND it gave me a headache!! All of the bath and body works oils are really challenging and I wouldn't wear them.

Mmm for the lovers. It really stands out and lasts very very long. Too bad some people really hate patchoeli. Better check with your loved ones first so that they don't "bweeh, juk" you ;-)

Women always comment on this scent. Iam always drawn to find whos wearing it. Also burn the incense. it seems either u really like or really dont I say sexy.

Geez, I love patchouli...wish they would stock it in our New Zealand Body Shop stores...:/
